Abstract: The novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is still continuing to be a concern for the entire globe. Since early detection of COVID-19 is of particular importance, there have been multiple research efforts to supplement the current standard RT-PCR tests. Several deep learning models, with varying effectiveness, using Chest X-Ray images for such diagnosis have also been proposed. While some of the models are quite promising, there still remains a dearth of training data for such deep learning models. The present paper attempts to provide a viable solution to the problem of data deficiency in COVID-19 CXR images. We show that the use of a Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network (WGAN) could lead to an effective and lightweight solution. It is demonstrated that the WGAN generated images are at par with the original images using inference tests on an already proposed COVID-19 detection model.

Abstract: Ophthalmology extensively relies on the application of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning techniques to address various challenges and issues. Macula is the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed vision. Macular edema is a condition that affects the macula. It occurs when fluid accumulates in the macula, leading to swelling and distortion of the central vision system. Macular Edema can be detected using computer vision and Artificial Intelligence techniques. Large datasets having high-resolution images are required for building robust Deep Learning medical image classification models. Access to large, annotated, and readily available datasets is often limited, as the preparation of such dataset is a costly and tedious job. Leveraging a mixture of publicly accessible datasets for retinal fundus images is one strategy that can be employed. However, this solution is accompanied by the challenges pertaining to the quality, reliability, and lack of uniformity across the datasets. The complex architectures of Deep Learning models are not well suited for medical image classification using smaller datasets. This is because the model over fits during training. This work proposes a robust ResNet-50 classifier model that is trained on synthetic retinal fundus images generated by the Progressive Growing of Generative Adversarial Network. The model classifies retinal fundus images based on the severity grade of macular edema. The ResNet-50 model trained on the original IDRiD dataset achieved an accuracy of 85% while it is improved to 90.82% using Progressive Growing of Generative Adversarial Network based approach. Abstract: Simple Summary: Deep-learning-based radiogenomic (DLR) models show promising performance in assisting with lung cancer care. The primary aim of our study was to develop and validate a DLR model to predict EGFR mutation status in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Using 990 patients from two clinical trials, the study employed a machine learning pipeline that analysed CT images with manually selected tumour regions. Two deep convolutional neural networks segmented lung masses and nodules from 3D regions of the CT image. The combined radiomics and DLR model achieved 88% accuracy in predicting EGFR mutations, outperforming individual models. The semantic features extracted from CT images also contributed to accurate predictions. The study suggests that this AI-based model in combination with CT semantic features could serve as a non-invasive biomarker that aids in predicting EGFR mutation status with significant accuracy. Purpose: The authors aimed to develop and validate deep-learning-based radiogenomic (DLR) models and radiomic signatures to predict the EGFR mutation in patients with NSCLC, and to assess the semantic and clinical features that can contribute to detecting EGFR mutations. Methods: Using 990 patients from two NSCLC trials, we employed an end-to-end pipeline analyzing CT images without precise segmentation. Two 3D convolutional neural networks segmented lung masses and nodules. Results: The combined radiomics and DLR model achieved an AUC of 0.88 ± 0.03 in predicting EGFR mutation status, outperforming individual models. Semantic features further improved the model's accuracy, with an AUC of 0.88 ± 0.05. CT semantic features that were found to be significantly associated with EGFR mutations were pure solid tumours with no associated ground glass component (p < 0.03), the absence of peripheral emphysema (p < 0.03), the presence of pleural retraction (p = 0.004), the presence of fissure attachment (p = 0.001), the presence of metastatic nodules in both the tumour-containing lobe (p = 0.001) and the non-tumour-containing lobe (p = 0.001), the presence of ipsilateral pleural effusion (p = 0.04), and average enhancement of the tumour mass above 54 HU (p < 0.001). Conclusions: This AI-based radiomics and DLR model demonstrated high accuracy in predicting EGFR mutation, serving as a non-invasive and user-friendly imaging biomarker for EGFR mutation status prediction. Abstract: Building accurate Land Use Land Cover Maps to identify various land resources, such as forest areas, water bodies, agricultural land, urban areas, etc. have become essential. The information acquired from these Land Cover Maps can be used for various environmental applications and infrastructure planning. Creating automated techniques to generate maps using remotely sensed data using different computer vision and engineering techniques is of great importance. Many attempts have been made to develop Land Use Land Cover classification maps for different study areas. In this research work, we have developed a method to generate a seven-class Land Use Land Cover map using Quantum GIS-tool and the recent Convolutional Neural Network Unet-DenseNet121. Unet deep learning architecture backed with DenseNet121 backbone model is trained to perform classification task on 111,180 patches generated from the study area. The model gives an average Overall-Accuracy of 94.09%, whereas the Matthews-Correlation-Coefficient is 0.66 across all LULC classes, which indicates excellent model performance. Abstract: With remote sensor data, land use and land cover classification offers geographical information. The land use land cover classification process considers several factors for urban planning, natural resources management, environment management, and disaster monitoring. The recent advances in deep learning models to classify land use land cover classes. The objective of this research work is to use remote sensing and Geospatial Information Systems to perform land use land cover classification. The customized Sentinel-2 dataset is generated using QGIS to implement a Deep Neural network. In this study, pixel-based classification was performed using the UNet model. Accuracy assessment was performed using Overall Accuracy and F1-Score. The research showed overall classification accuracy of 95.5% and a value of F1-Score is 0.66. Depression is a psychological disorder characterized by the continuous occurrence of bad mood state. It is critical to understand that this disorder is severely affecting people of multiple age groups across the world. This illness is now considered as a global issue and its early diagnosis will be effective in saving the lives of many people. This mental disorder can be diagnosed with the help of Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals as an analysis of these signals can indicate the prevailing mental state of the patients. This paper elaborates on the advantages of a fully automated Depression Detection System, as manual analysis of the EEG signal is very time consuming, tedious and it requires a lot of experience. This research paper presents a novel EEG based computer-aided (CAD) Hybrid Neural Network that can be identified as DepHNN (Depression Hybrid Neural Network) for depression screening. The proposed method uses Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for temporal learning, windowing and long-short term memory (LSTM) architectures for the sequence learning process. In this model, EEG signals have been obtained from 21 drug-free, symptomatic depressed, and 24 normal patients using neuroscan. The model has less time and minimized computation complexity as it uses the windowing technique. It has attained an accuracy of 99.10% with mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.2040.
