The density and thermal expansion coefficients of polycrystalline, liquid, and amorphous phases of Fe60Co20Si8B12 alloy in the temperature range of 293–1650 K were measured by the monochromatic gamma-ray attenuation technique. The features of crystallization of the melt and amorphous film were investigated. The results of an experimental study of the density and thermal expansion of cobalt over the temperature range 140 K to 2073 K are presented. The measurements were carried out by the dilatometer and gamma-ray attenuation methods with errors of 0.05 to 0.26 pct in terms of density and 0.7 to 7.9 pct in terms of thermal expansion coefficients. The relative density changes were determined during allotropic transformation (0.28 ± 0.04) pct and during melting of cobalt (4.56 ± 0.15) pct. The behavior of the thermal expansion coefficient in the vicinity of the Curie point was investigated. Approximation dependences on temperature for the investigated properties were obtained, and reference tables were calculated. Density measurements are made on a series of caesium–lead liquid alloys containing 20 to 70 at.% Pb, in a temperature range from the liquidus line to ~1000 K. The experiments are carried out using the gamma-ray attenuation technique. Based on the obtained results, the concentration dependences of the molar volume, relative excess molar volume and volumetric coefficient of thermal expansion of the caesium–lead liquid system are described. These dependences strongly deviate from the corresponding dependences for ideal solutions, which confirms a tendency for compound formation in Cs–Pb melts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Density and thermal expansion measurements have been performed for liquid caesium and caesium–bismuth alloys (20–66.7 at.% Bi) in the temperature range from the liquidus curve to 1000 K. A gamma-ray attenuation technique has been used. The concentration dependencies of the volumetric properties of the Cs–Bi liquid system have been constructed. It was established that experimental molar volumes of the liquid alloys are much lower than those of ideal mixtures. The compositional dependence of the volumetric thermal expansion coefficient shows a sharp peak at 25 at.% Bi. Possible reasons for such behaviour are briefly discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The vapor pressure on the bubble line, the speed of sound, and the density of the R-134a (48.66%)–R-227ea (51.34%) refrigerant gaseous mixture were studied with an ultrasound interferometer and constant volume piezometer within the temperature range of 293–373 K at pressures of 0.06 to 0.4–3.6 MPa. The temperature, pressure, speed of sound, and density measurement errors were ±20 mK, ±4 kPa, ±(0.1–0.3)%, and ±(0.2–0.4)%, respectively. The approximation dependencies of the vapor density and its pressure on the bubble line were obtained, and the experimental data are compared to calculations with the REFPROP software. In this paper, the available experimental data for the density and viscosity of eutectic liquid alloys Al+Si, Pb+Bi, and Pb+Sn have been critically examined with the intention of establishing a reference standard representation of both density and viscosity. All experimental data have been categorized as primary or secondary according to the quality of measurement, the technique employed, and the presentation of the data, as specified by a series of carefully defined criteria. The proposed standard reference correlations for the density of liquid Al+Si, Pb+Bi, and Pb+Sn are, respectively, characterized by deviations of 2.0%, 2.9%, and 0.5% at the 95% confidence level. The standard reference correlations for the viscosity of liquid Al+Si, Pb+Bi, and Pb+Sn are, respectively, characterized by deviations of 7.7%, 14.2%, and 12.4% at the 95% confidence level.
