Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of topical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) 35% versus topical adapalene 0.1% in molluscum contagiosum (MC) in children. Methods Sixty children with MCs were divided in two equal groups. Thirty patients in group A received treatment with topical 35% TCA weekly and 30 patients in group B received treatment with topical 0.1% adapalene once daily. The patients were followed till 6 weeks for efficacy and safety. Results The efficacy of TCA and adapalene was observed in 25 (83.3%) and 20 (66.7%) patients, respectively (p> 0.136). The safety of TCA and adapalene was seen among 21 (70%) and 29 (96.7%) patients, respectively (p < 0.05). Conclusion The efficacy of TCA was not significantly higher than adapalene. Objective To evaluate the efficacy of intralesional 5-fluorouracil alone in comparison with the combination of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide and 5-fluorouracil in treatment of small keloids. Methods Sixty patients who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited. Patients were randomly divided into two groups. In group A, intralesional 5-fluorouracil 50 mg/ml was used. In group B, combination of triamcinolone acetonide 40mg/dl (0.1ml) and 5-fluorouracil 50mg/ml (0.9ml) was used, on monthly basis for 6 months. Patients were assessed for efficacy, after 6 months of the treatment. Results Efficacy was achieved in 32 cases in which 10 (33.3%) cases were from 5-FU group and 22 (73.3%) were from 5-FU+steroid group, which was statistically significant (p=0.002.). Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) is common parasitic infestation in warmer climates among people, who have contact with contaminated soil. It is caused by migration of hookworm larvae into the human skin. Clinically an itchy, erythematous, linear serpiginous tract appears within days to even months after exposure to infested sand or soil. Diagnosis is established on the clinical presentation. The program aims at producing physicians with adequate basic knowledge and skills needed in examining a dermatological case. Peeling skin syndrome is an extremely rare genodermatosis of possible autosomal recessive inheritance, characterized by asymptomatic spontaneous exfoliation of the stratum corneum at a subcorneal or intracorneal level. It usually presents at birth or appears later in early childhood. The condition may be generalized or localized. Here we describe a case of localized continual skin peeling limited to the facial skin in a 6-month-old infant, with two other members of the family affected with the same condition. A few cases of localized skin peeling limited to the acral surfaces have been described in the literature, but a familial case of localized skin peeling limited to the facial skin has not been described before.
