We extend for the first time the applicability of the optimal homotopy asymptotic method (OHAM) to find the algorithm of approximate analytic solution of delay differential equations (DDEs). The analytical solutions for various examples of linear and nonlinear and system of initial value problems of DDEs are obtained successfully by this method. However, this approach does not depend on small or large parameters in comparison to other perturbationmethods. This method provides us with a convenient way to control the convergence of approximation series. The results which are obtained revealed that the proposed method is explicit, effective, and easy to use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We consider the second order rational difference equation xn+1 = (α + βxn + γxn-1) /(A + Bxn Cxn-1, n = 0, 1, 2, . . . , where the parameters α, β, γ, A, B,C are positive real numbers, and the initial conditions x-1, x0 are nonnegative real numbers. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the equation to have a prime period-two solution. We show that the period-two solution of the equation is locally asymptotically stable. In particular, we solve Conjecture 5.201.2 proposed by Camouzis and Ladas in their book (2008) which appeared previously in Conjecture 11.4.3 in Kulenović and Ladas monograph (2002). Differential equations of fractional order appear in many applications in physics, chemistry and engineering. An effective and easy-to-use method for solving such equations is needed. In this paper, series solutions of the FDEs are presented using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The HAM provides a convenient way of controlling the convergence region and rate of the series solution. Abstract: In this Letter, approximate analytical solutions of systems of Fractional Differential Equations (FDEs) are derived by the Homotopy-Perturbation Method (HPM). The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. The solutions are obtained in the form of rapidly convergent infinite series with easily computable terms. We also present a reliable new algorithm based on HPM to overcome the difficulty of the singular point at . Abstract: A basic enzyme kinetics is used to test the effectiveness of an analytical method, called the variational iteration method (VIM). This enzyme–substrate reaction is formed by a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We shall compare the classical VIM against a modified version called the multistage VIM (MVIM). Additional comparison will be made against the conventional numerical method, Runge–Kutta (RK4)(fourth-order). Numerical results were obtained for these three methods and we found that MVIM and RK4 are in excellent conformance. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

An analysis is presented to investigate the effect of thermophoresis particle deposition and variable viscosity on non-Darcy MHD mixed convective heat and mass transfer of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past a porous wedge in the presence of chemical reaction. The wall of the wedge is embedded in a uniform non- Darcian porous medium in order to allow for possible fluid wall suction or injection. The governing partial differential equations of the problem, subjected to their boundary conditions, are solved numerically by applying an efficient solution scheme for local nonsimilarity boundary layer analysis. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameter in the problem and an analysis of the results obtained show that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the applied magnetic field. In VIM, a correction functional is constructed by a general Lagrange''s multiplier which can be identified via a variational theory.
