To study the molecular mechanism of Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction in the treatment of eczema by means of network pharmacology and molecular docking. First, the TCMSP database was used to excavate the active ingredient of each drug in Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction and predict its target, and the Uniprot database was used to standardize the names of target proteins, in order to obtain the disease targets of eczema through GeneCards, OMIM, PharmGkb, DrugBank and other databases. And next, the potential targets on which drug targets and disease targets work together were selected to make a Venn diagram, the Cytoscape 3.6.1 software was used to screen out and construct the "active ingredient-core targets" network. STRING database was used to construct a protein-protein interaction(PPI) network, and the R language was used to perform GO enrichment analysis and KEGG pathway analysis. Finally, the molecular docking verification of main active ingredients and core targets of the drug was performed by AutoDock software. The study showed that 74 active ingredients and 103 targets of Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction for the treatment of eczema were screened. The main active ingredients included quercetin, luteolin, wogonin, kaempferol, and the main targets included PTGS1, ESR1, PPARG, and MAPK3. In addition, eight key targets, including MAPK8, MAPK3, JUN, MAPK14, TP53, MAPK1, ESR1 and RELA, were calculated by PPI network. GO enrichment analysis involved 2 024 biological processes, 81 cell components, and 140 molecular functions. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis was performed to screen out 158 eczema-related pathways, which mainly acted on AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, virus-related pathways, and the results of molecular docking showed that the main active compounds could respectively bind to representative targets and exhibit a good affinity. The study proved that the treatment of eczema with Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction involved multiple signaling pathways and biological processes, and the combination of main active ingredients(such as quercetin, luteolin, wogonin, kaempferol) and key targets(such as MAPK8, MAPK3, JUN, MAPK14, TP53, MAPK1, ESR1, RELA) may be one of the important mechanisms of action.

With the advancement of the aging process, cerebrovascular disease has become China's first cause of death. Injection of Breviscapine is a type of traditional Chinese medicine injections published in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia of 2015 Edition and the National Basic Medical Insurance, Industrial Injury Insurance and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalogue, and used to treat ischemic cerebrovascular disease in clinic. In order to further improve clinicians' understanding of the drug and guidance of its rational clinical use, we gave full consideration of clinical research evidences and expert experience, followed the procedures developed based on expert consensus of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and then offered recommendations for clinical problems summarized by clinical first-line investigations and evidence-based clinical problems according to internationally accepted evidence grading and recommendation standards, i.e. Grade. As for clinical problems without evidence, we reached through nominal group method, and formed consensus recommendations. Safety issues of Injection of Breviscapine, such as indication, syndrome, dosage, course of treatment, precautions, suggestions and contraindications, were defined to improve clinical efficacy, promote rational drug use and reduce drug risks. This consensus needs to be revised in the future based on emerging clinical issues and evidence-based updates in practical applications.

Background: Astragali radix is prone to be contaminated by various mycotoxins, leading to unpredictable threats on the quality and safety of Astragali radix and the health of the consumers. Therefore, the determination of multimycotoxins is imperative. Objective: To develop an efficient, sensitive, fast, and multianalyte method for detecting multimycotoxins in Astragali radix. Methods: A selective dilute-and-shoot pretreatment procedure based ultra-performance LC-tandem MS (UPLC-MS/MS) method was developed for sensitive determination of multimycotoxins in Astragali radix , including aflatoxin (AF) B 1 , B₂, G 1 , G₂, and ochratoxin A. The five mycotoxins were extracted by the dilute-and-shoot pretreatment procedure followed by UPLC-MS/MS detection. Types of sample extraction solvent, mobile-phase compositions and MS/MS parameters, and dilute-and-shoot conditions were optimized. Results: The optimized chromatographic and mass spectrometric conditions allowed the separation and detection of the five mycotoxins within 5 min. The validated UPLC-MS/MS method exhibited good sensitivity with LOD and LOQ lower than 0.2 and 0.5 μg/kg, respectively. RSD values for method precision were lower than 9%. Recoveries obtained were between 90.87 and 108.44% for all the analytes with RSDs of 3.96-8.03%. The developed method was applied for the detection of the 5 mycotoxins in 18 batches of Astragali radix with good determination performance and no matrix interferences. Two samples collected from Shanxi province and Neimenggu Autonomous Region in China were positive for AFB 1 at 3.24 and 2.69 μg/kg, respectively. Conclusions: The dilute-and-shoot procedure allowed for the extraction of the mycotoxins with advantages of simple pretreatment, small extraction time, high selectivity and accuracy, as well as being cost effective and easy to operate without any clean-up steps. Highlights: This is the first report on dilute-and-shoot approach for mycotoxins extraction and detection in Chinese medicinal material matrixes.

Heat stress (HS) causes significant economic losses and has become a continual challenge in the dairy industry worldwide. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of a dietary supplement on milk performance and immune function in late-lactation cows under HS conditions. The supplement was a fermented Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) mixture consisting of 18 herbs. Forty lactating Holstein cows (560 ± 51.0 kg of initial BW, 230 ± 10.0 DIM, 16 ± 3.0 kg of milk per day) were randomly assigned into 4 treatment groups (10 cows per group). Each group was fed a dietary supplemented with 0, 25, 50, or 100 g CHMs per cow per day. Cows were housed at high ambient temperature-humidity index (average 74.5) for an experimental period of 42 d during the summer months. Milk yield, composition, immune responses involving blood lymphocyte apoptosis rate, serum biochemical parameters, and genes expression in lymphocytes were evaluated on days 14, 28, and 42, respectively. Results showed that milk yield, milk fat, and protein content were greater (all P < 0.05) for 50 or 100 g/d CHMs compared with the group without CHMs supplements throughout the experimental period. On the other hand, increasing CHMs dose demonstrated a greater lymphocyte or leukocyte count (P < 0.01). By flow cytometry analysis, early or late apoptosis rate of the lymphocytes was decreased (P < 0.05) by CHMs supplements. The immunity-related biochemistry and genes transcript responses involving cytokines (IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, and IL-12), apoptosis (Bak, Mcl-1, Bax, Bcl-2, Bcl-xl, and P53), and immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG, and IgM) were investigated. Compared with the unsupplemented group, the serum IL-2 and IL-6 levels, as well as IL-2 mRNA expression, increased (P < 0.05) for 100 g/d. However, the serum IL-1 level tended to decrease (P = 0.08) with increasing CHMs dose, and IL-1 mRNA expression was down-regulated (P = 0.02) by up to 24% for 100 g/d. Additionally, the serum Bax level decreased (P < 0.01) and Bcl-2 level increased (P = 0.01) for 100 g/d. Bax and Bak mRNA expressions were down-regulated (P < 0.05), and Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl expression were up-regulated (P < 0.05) for 50 or 100 g/d. The mRNA expressions of P53 and Mcl-1 were not affected by CHMs (P > 0.10). Besides, serum IgG levels were greater (P < 0.01) for 50 or 100 g/d, compared with unsupplemented group. In conclusion, CHMs supplements may improve milk performance and immune function in dairy cows under HS conditions.

Objective: To observe the effect of Yiqi Wenyang Decoction on the infiltration and activation of NK cells in nasal mucosa of mouse model with allergic rhinitis (AR), and to explore the potential mechanism for effective intervention of AR with Yiqi Wenyang Decoction. Methods: Fourty-eight mice were randomly divided into blank group, model group, low, medium and high dose of Yiqi Wenyang Decoction group and Cetirizine group, with 8 rats in each group. After modeling of AR, the model group was filled with 0.9% sodium chloride solution. Yiqi Wenyang Decoction groups of each dose were given different concentrations of Yiqi Wenyang Decoction water extract, while the Cetirizine group was given aqueous solution of Cetirizine. The behavior, morphological changes of nasal mucosa and infiltration of NK cells in nasal mucosa were observed. The levels of IL-4 and INF-γ in nasal lavage fluid were measured. Besides, the drug safety was observed by acute toxicity test. Results: In the respect of behavioral scoring, middle and high dose of Yiqi Wenyang Decoction group were superior to the model group (number of sneezing: q value was 7.189, 8.748, respectively; number of scratching nose: q value was 12.074, 14.560, respectively; all P <0.05). In middle and high dose of Yiqi Wenyang Decoction group, the infiltration of NK cells and nasal lavage fluid IL-4 levels were lower than those in model group (IOD: q value was 10.073, 12.322, respectively; IOD/Area: q value was 10.954, 14.073, respectively; IL-4: q value was 4.705, 6.801, respectively; all P <0.05). There was no significant difference in nasal lavage fluid of INF-γ among each group ( Fv =1.166, P >0.05). In acute toxicity test, no obvious poisoning symptoms and death occurred in mice. Conclusion: Yiqi Wenyang Decoction can control the nasal symptom, reduce the local NK cell infiltration of nasal mucosa and inhibit the expression of the 2-type cytokines released by NK cells, which may be related with the potential mechanism of effective intervention of AR with Yiqi Wenyang Decoction.

To further evaluate the safety of ginkgo diterpene lactone meglumine injection in the clinical use in ischemic stroke patients. Clinical safety study was conducted in 82 clinical units and 6 300 cases were completed and included from June 2013 to December 2014 by using multicenter, prospective, open and uncontrolled design methods for clinical research. A total of 29 cases of adverse reactions were observed in the experiment. Adverse reaction ratio (ADR) was 0.46%, and about 86.21% (25 cases) of them was mild with transient response which could be alleviated or disappeared without intervention; about 13.79% (4 cases) was moderate, including 2 cases of headache, 1 case of dizziness and 1 case of rash; no serious adverse reactions were found. The adverse reactions occurred in this study were pre-known adverse reactions or common adverse reactions of Chinese medicine injection. Oxidative stress, a predominant cause of apoptosis cascades triggered in neurodegenerative disorders, has been regarded as a critical inducement in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Gou Teng-San (GTS) is a traditional Chinese herbs preparation commonly utilized to alleviate cognitive dysfunction and psychological symptoms of patients with dementia. The present study aimed to investigate the protective effects of GTS40, an active fraction of GTS, on H 2 O 2 -induced oxidative damage and identify the potential active ingredients. Our results revealed that GTS40 exhibited radical scavenging activity, elevated cell viability, decreased the levels of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), and stabilized mitochondrial transmembrane potential (MMP) in H 2 O 2 -treated PC12 cells. In addition, GTS40 blocked the apoptotic cascade by reversing the imbalance of Bcl-2/Bax and inhibiting the activity of caspase-3. Furthermore, an HPLC-QTOFMS method was developed to characterize major chemical constituents in GTS40. Our results revealed twenty-seven identified or tentatively characterized compounds through comparing their retention time (t R ) and MS spectra with reference standards. These results suggested that GTS40 was a promising active fraction that may be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of oxidative stress-mediated neurodegenerative disorders., (Copyright © 2017 China Pharmaceutical University. This study is to construct a rapid and effective method for identification of wild and cultivated Glycyrrhiza uralensis (hereinafter referred to as Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) from Ningxia by comparison of the difference in chromatography identification based on index components and near-infrared spectroscopy identification. HPLC and UV methods were used to determine the content of liquiritin, glycyrrhizate and total flavonoids for 9 wild Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and 14 cultivated Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma samples,and the near-infrared spectroscopy was also,collected. The results illustrated that the chromatography identification based on index components could not identify wild and cultivated Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma from Ningxia, while near-infrared spectroscopy could quickly and effectively achieve it. Scutellaria baicalensis is a common and important medicinal plant in China, facing with reducing sharply in wild resources. To meet the needs in Chinese herbwouls medicine market and clinical application, S. baicalensis has been widely cultivated in Ningxia, Hebei, Shanxi, and Gansu et al. HPLC finger-print and near-infrared were studied in the research to evaluate quality difference of S. baicalensis in four districts. The results showed that the similarity of HPLC finger-print of 12 cultivated S. baicalensis and reference crude herb is more than 0.961, and the other is more than 0.983. On the other hand, paired sample t-test indicated there has no significant difference between the common peaks' area of 12 cultivated S. baicalensis and reference crude herb. It was verified that 12 cultivated S. baicalensis has highly consistency with reference crude herb. On the basis of chromatographic finger-print and near-infrared spectrum, the study applied paired sample t-test to verify analysis results, which could avoid erroneous judgment induced by indefinite threshold values in the similarity of chromatographic finger-print and provide reliable basis for the analysis results. Eight new lindenane sesquiterpenoid dimers, chlojapolides A-H (1-8), along with 11 known analogues were isolated from the whole plant of Chloranthus japonicus. Their structures including absolute configurations were elucidated by spectral and chemical methods. All the compounds were examined for their inhibitory effects on the nitric oxide (NO) production induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in RAW 264.7 macrophages, and compounds 1, 11, 13, and 17 exhibited pronounced inhibition with IC50 values in the range of 6.91-15.75μM, being more active than the positive control, quercetin (IC50=15.90μM)., (Copyright © 2016 Elsevier Ltd. To evaluate the effect of Naoshuantong capsule on the life quality of patients with ischemic stroke in six months of follow-up studies, and observe the adverse events. The results would provide reference for the secondary prevention on the recovery stage of ischemic stroke. 696 patients from 12 Class III Grade I hospitals nationwide were divided into 2 groups by central randomization system. The study group, 344 cases, were treated with Naoshuantong capsule plus Aspirin, and the control group, 352 cases, were treated with Aspirin. The patients were treated for 6 months. At the end of treatment, SS-QOL used for evaluating the quality of life was observed. The safety index was defined by adverse observation event. The incidence of adverse events and laboratory tests results were observed before and after treatment at the same time. The results indicated that compared to the control group, the treatment group had significant statistical difference in the impact of effort, self-care ability and the the work or labor ability of patients (P < 0.05). No serious adverse events were observed. Naoshuantong capsule showed some superiority to Asprin on improving the quality of life on patients with ischemic stroke, and it could be used in secondary prevention on the recovery stage of ischemic stroke. Naoshuantong capsule is safe and effective in the treatment of convalescence ischemic stroke.

Objective: To study effects of Chinese Herbal Compounds (CHC) for blood activating stasis removing (BASR), qi benefiting Shen invigorating (QBSI) on high glucose stimulated proliferation of renal mesangial cells (RMCs) and expressions of fibronectin (FN)., Methods: Rats' RMCs were dealt with high glucose and different concentrations of Chinese medicine for 24 and 48 h respectively. The proliferation of RMCs was detected with 4-A thiazolyl blue. mRNA expressions of FN was detected by real time quantitative PCR. The protein expression of FN was detected by ELISA., Results: Compared with the control group, the proliferation obviously increased (P < 0.05, P < 0.01) after 24 and 48 h of treatment in the high glucose group, mRNA and protein expressions of FN also increased (P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference in the proliferation of RMCs or expressions of FN at 24 h between each CHC group and the high glucose group (P > 0.05). Compared with the high glucose group, the proliferation of RMCs and expressions of FN at 24 h each obviously decreased in the CHC group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01)., Conclusions: High glucose could promote the proliferation of RMCs and induce expressions of FN. No obvious effect could be stimulated by CHC treatment for 24 h. The proliferation of RMCs, protein and mRNA expressions of FN could be reversed by CHC treatment for 48 h.

Chuankezhi (CKZ), a new Chinese medicine, plays an important role in immunoregulation. Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells have been commonly used for immunotherapy in recent years. In this study, we aimed to investigate the immunoregulatory effect of CKZ on CIK cells. Peripheral blood monocytes were isolated from healthy donors, and CIK cells were generated by culturing monocytes with interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin 2. Different concentrations of CKZ were added on day 2. After incubation for 14 days in culture, the antitumor effects of CIK cells were measured by cytotoxicity assay. Flow cytometry was used to explore the effect of CKZ on CIK cell immunophenotype, intracellular cytokine production, and apoptosis. The effect of CKZ on the antitumor activity of CIK cells in nude mice was also investigated. CKZ increased the percentage of CD3+CD56+ CIK cells but did not significantly change the percentage of CD4+, CD8+, or CD4+CD25+ CIK cells. CKZ-conditioned CIK cells showed a greater ability to kill tumor cells, as well as a higher frequency of IFN-γ and TNF-α production, compared with the CIK cells in the control group. CKZ also suppressed the apoptosis of CIK cells in vitro. Furthermore, CKZ combined with CIK cells had a stronger suppressive effect on tumor growth in vivo than the CIK, CKZ, or normal saline control groups. Our results indicate that CKZ enhances the antitumor activity of CIK cells and is a potential medicine for tumor immunotherapy.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of the comprehensive therapy of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and rehabilitation in the treatment of post-stroke flaccid limb dysfunction., Methods: The four-center, single-blind, randomized and controlled research method was adopted, 240 qualified subjects were randomized into a comprehensive therapy group, an acupuncture group, a rehabilitation group and a Chinese herbal medicine group, 60 cases in each one, at the ratio of 1 1. In the comprehensive therapy group, the comprehensive therapy of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and rehabilitation was applied. The acupuncture therapy included the scale acupuncture at middle line of vertex, lateral line 1 of vertex, lateral line 2 of vertex, etc. with the single reinforcing and reducing technique by the speed of needle insertion and withdrawal, and the body acupuncture therapy at the acupoints on the antagonistic muscles with the reinforcing and reducing technique by the needle rotation. The Chinese herbal medicine therapy included No. 1 stroke formula for the cases of liver and kidney yin deficiency and the upward disturbance of wind yang, No. 2 stroke formula for qi deficiency and blood stagnation, and the stagnation in meridians and No. 3 stroke formula for the interaction of phlegm and stasis and blockage of meridians according to the pattern/syndrome differentiation. The rehabilitation therapy focused on the promotion technique by putting the healthy limb. The simple acupuncture, rehabilitation and Chinese herbal medicine therapies as the comprehensive therapy group were applied in the acupuncture group, rehabilitation group and Chinese herbal medicine group separately. The Chinese medicine symptom, the limb motor function, the daily life activity, fainting needle reaction, allergic reaction and the others were taken as indices to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment., Results: (1) The results of the four indices named the Chinese medicine symptom, the limb motor function, the limb balance function, the daily life activity were all improved significantly after treatment as compared with those before treatment in four groups (all P < 0.01). (2) Concerning to the improvement degrees, the improvements of the above four indices in the comprehensive therapy group were more significant than those in the other three groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). The improvement in Chinese medicine symptom in the acupuncture group and the Chinese herbal medicine group were more significant than that in the rehabilitation group (both P < 0.05). The improvement of the upper limb motor function in the acupuncture group was more significant than that in the rehabilitation group and the Chinese herbal medicine group separately (both P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The comprehensive therapeutic program of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and rehabilitation is safe and effective in the treatment of post-stroke flaccid limb dysfunction. It is more advantageous in efficacy as compared with any simple therapy.

Currently, there are many traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injections for treating ischemic stroke in the market, most of them have the efficacy of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, but their reasonable applications are worth consideration. From the angles of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine, TCM injections that are commonly used in clinics were detected for their indications and pharmacological effects, compared in terms of their characteristics of clinical application, precautions, prohibition on use, caution and adverse reactions and categorized, in order to help clinicians with reasonable application of TCM injections.

Shuxuetong injection is a kind of compound injection which is made from traditional Chinese medicine Hirudo and Pheretime, which has a clear anticoagulant, fibrinolytic promoting, blood rheology improving, blood lipids regulating and cell protecting effect, and the injection has been widely used in clinical. Especially, the injection has often been combined with other Chinese and modern medicine in the treatment of cerebral infarction disease. However, there are still many non-standard and irrational aspects in clinical practice so as to make a more reasonable and safer use of Shuxuetong injection. In order to avoid the occurrence of adverse reactions to provide a reference for regulating the use of the injection,the paper systematically expounds the Shuxuetong injection's main clinical problems and the reasonable combination.

Objective: To investigate the nephro-protective effects of total triterpenoids from Psidium guajava leaves (TTPGL) on type 2 diabetic rats., Methods: Diabetic rats were induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ, 35 mg/kg) and a high-fat diet. Diabetic rats were divided into five groups: diabetic model control, low-dose TTPGL-treated (60 mg/kg, L-TTPGL), medium-dose TTPGL-treated (120 mg/kg, M-TTPGL), high-dose TTPGL-treated (240 mg/kg, H-TTPGL) and rosiglitazone-treated (3 mg/kg, RSG). The rats received daily treatment for six weeks. At the end of the period,the levels of fasting blood glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS), creatinine (Cr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in serum were measured. Kidneys for histopathological evaluation were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE)., Results: Compared with normal control group, the level of FPG was increased, the insulin and insulin sensitivity index were decreased in the model group; The levels of BUN and Cr were increased with histopathological changes related to diabetic nephropathy in the kidney, which were the glomerular endothelium and mesangial cell proliferation, capillary narrowed, the base-membrane incrassation, glomerular swelling, cysts narrowed and tubules edema. Compared with the model group, the levels of FPG were decreased, serum insulin and insulin sensitivity index were increased significantly in M-TTPGL and H-TTPGL groups (P<0.01 or P<0.05); The levels of BUN and Cr were decreased significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05) and the renal structural damages were improved significantly., Conclusion: TTPGL could decrease the level of blood glucose of diabetic rat effectively, increase the insulin sensitivity index and protect renal lesions in diabetic rats.

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effects of Kangjia Pill (KJP) on the cell proliferation in rat goiter model induced by methimazole (MMI)., Methods: Fifty-six Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: the normal group, MMI model group (MMI), low dose of KJP group (LKJP), and high dose of KJP (HKJP). Except the normal group (20 rats), the other groups (12 rats in each) were given 0.04% (w/v) MMI through the drinking water until the end of the experiment. One week later, the rats in the LKJP and HKJP groups were given KJP by gastrogavage at the dose of 250 mg/(kg x d) and 1,000 mg/(kg x d), respectively for 12 weeks. The relative thyroid weight (mg/100 g body weight) of each rat was accessed. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was determined by immunohistochemistry, and the correlation analysis between the PCNA positive thyrocytes and the relative thyroid weight was performed. The expressions of PCNA and cyclin D1 were examined with Western blotting., Results: After KJP treatment for 12 weeks, compared with the MMI group, the relative thyroid weight of the HKJP group decreased significantly, and the positive thyrocyte populations of PCNA in the two KJP groups reduced markedly (all P<0.05). The correlation analysis showed that PCNA was closely correlated with thyrocyte proliferation (r=0.685, P<0.05). KJP significantly decreased the protein expression of PCNA and cyclin D1 in the thyroid specimens (P<0.05), the high dose showed better effects., Conclusion: KJP played a therapeutic role via inhibiting cell proliferation in the rat goitrous glands.

Ancient prescription rhiaoma coptidis powder is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine compounds (TCMC) which is composed of rhizoma coptidis (RC) and radix glycyrrhiza (RG). In the present investigation, the compositions in solutions and precipitates of single decocted RC and RG, and decocted RC-RG mixture were studied by FTIR spectroscopy, HPLC technique and TOF-MS method. The components of decocted RC-RG mixture are different from those of the addition of RC and RG, suggesting that the interactions between RC and RG occurred. The results of FTIR spectroscopic characterization, and HPLC and TOF-MS measurements demonstrated that in both solutions and precipitates some new chemical compounds formed, while some components in the original single decocted RC and RG were restrained in the mixed system, indicating that RG plays an important role in this TCMC-rhizoma coptidis powder.

Objective: To explore the effect of Ligustrazine on cells proliferation in cortex and striatum after focal cerebral ischemia in adult rats., Methods: Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) with suture method. Two hours later, injection of Ligustrazine (80 mg/kg, 1 time/d) was performed peritoneally. Four hours after the ischemia, 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) (50 mg/kg, 1 time/d) was injected peritoneally. At 7d, 14d and 21d after ischemia, BrdU-Labeled cells in the cortex and striatum were observed by immunohistochemical staining., Results: In ischemia model group, at 7 day, BrdU-labeled cells were observed in the ipsilateral cortex and striatum. With the prolongation of ischemia, the number of BrdU-labeled cells increased, reached the peak at 21d. In Ligustrazine group, BrdU-labeded cells were observed with an intense distribution in ischemic penumbra of the cortex and striatum. With the prolongation of ischemia, the number of BrdU-labeled cells increased significantly at 14d, and reached the peak at 21d. The numbers of BrdU-labeled cells at 7d, 14d and 21d were more than those in ischemia model group respectively., Conclusion: Ligustrazine increase the proliferated cells in the cortex and striatum after focal cerebral ischemia in adult rats. The results suggest that it may be useful for promoting self-repair after ischemia.

Objective: To assess the effect of Tongxinluo (TXL) ultramicro-pulverization in preventing and treating post-reperfusion no-reflow in mini-swine model of acute myocardial infarction., Methods: Forty mini-swines were randomly divided into 5 groups, the control group, the three (low-, middle- and high-dose) TXL groups and the sham-operation group, with 8 in each group. After pigs in the three TXL groups were administered with TXL in a dose of 0.05g/kg, 0.2g/kg and 0.5g/kg once a day for 3 days respectively, they were made into acute myocardial ischemia/reperfusion model by ligating left anterior descending coronary artery for 3h followed with 1h of untying. Hemodynamic examination and myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) were conducted before and after ligation, and after reperfusion, finally, pathological analysis was done., Results: Post-reperfusion ventricular function injury was significantly improved in the three TXL groups, as compared with the control group, the no-reflow area determined by hemodynamic and MCE decreased from 78.5 +/- 4.4% and 82.3 +/- 1.9% in control to 43.4 +/- 3.2% and 44.6 +/- 3.3% (low-dose), 25.2 +/- 2.4% and 25.7 +/- 4.0% (middle-dose), 24.0 +/- 1.9% and 24.9 +/- 4.2% (high-dose), respectively (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and the myocardial infracted area was reduced from 98.5 +/- 1.4% to 89.8 +/- 4.6%, 80.2 +/- 3.1% and 79.9 +/- 3.1%, respectively (P < 0.05, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: TXL ultramicro-pulverization can effectively prevent and treat no-reflow after myocardial acute infarction following reperfusion, and reduce the infracted area.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of Tianzhi Granule (TZK) on senile vascular dementia (VaD), which is classified as sthenia of liver-yang., Method: Two hundred VaD patients were treated with TZK (0.5 g/bag), which was taken one bag each, three times a day. The treatment course was one month and they were treated for rwo courses., Result: TZK could remarkably increase gnosia and activity, with no striking difference from that of positive control group (P > 0.05). Simultaneously, TZK could significantly improve the clinical syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine and viability. It could also drastically reduce the whole blood and plasma viscosity and improve erythrodegeneration and abnormality of aggregation index in the abnormal blood viscosity patients., Conclusion: TMC has certain effects on senile VaD.
