The article compares two-photon microscopy (2PM) and three-photon microscopy (3PM), emphasizing their capabilities in deep tissue imaging. It is reported that 2PM uses longer infrared wavelengths to reduce tissue damage and is effective for brain research. It is further noted that in contrast, 3PM utilizes shorter, more energetic pulses to achieve greater imaging depths in tissues like bone and tumors, surpassing 2PM's limitations.
