Bu tez çalışmasında, sıvılaşan bir zemin üzerinde bulunan önüretimli dengeli konsol köprülerin sismik davranışı incelenmiştir. Sıvılaşma, deprem anında zeminde bulunan kum tabakasının çok büyük hareketleri sonucu yapılara zarar veren bir olaydır. Hala araştırmalara konu olan bu konuda, depremden dolayı oluşan yanal kaymalar çeşitli yönetmeliklerde bulunabilir. Yanal yayılmanın atalet ve kinematic etkileri sıvılaşma durumu, sıvılaşmama durumu, kuvvete dayalı methodlar ve deplasmana dayalı methodlar olmak üzere dört farklı yöntemle incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, çeşitli yaklaşımlarla yapıda oluşan etkileri tanımlamaktır. Tek yönlü saha etki analizi ile, sıvılaşmanın spectral ivmelere etkisi hesaplanmıştır. Zemin-kazık etkileşimi için bazı yönetmelikler p-y eğrilerini önermiştir. Ayrıca, dizayn spektrumunun sıvılaşma durumunda kullanabileceği de eklenmiştir. Bu yüzden atalet analizlerinde hem sıvılaşma ve sıvılaşma olmayan Zemin için 2 ayrı hesap yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Zeminin kinematik etkilerinde, yanal yayılma incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, farklı zemin profilleriyle beraber farklı pik ivmelerle şekil değiştirmeler bulunmuştur. Bu zeminlere ait p-y eğrileri modellenerek üstyapıya olan etkileri tartışılmıştır.Yapı periyodunun atalet analizinde çok önemli olduğu görüşmüştür. Ayakların tasarımında ise sıvılaşmanın gözlemlendiği ivme spektrumları daha kritik olarak gözlemlenmiştir. Deplasman uygulanan kazıklarda, kuvvetlerin daha fazla olduğu görülmüştür. Sıvılaşmanın uzun periyotlu yapılara çok büyük ölçüde etkide bulunduğu görülmüştür. In this thesis, the seismic behavior of a typical segmental precast balanced cantilever bridge over liquefiable soils is investigated. Liquefaction is a phenomenon that is triggered by large movements of the sand layer during earthquakes and cause damage to structures. The subject is still under investigation, approaches for liquefaction induced lateral spreading calculations can be found in the literature. Inertial and kinematic effects of the lateral spreading were studied with a total of four different approaches which are the non-liquefied scenario, liquefied scenario for inertial analysis, force-based method case and displacement-based method for kinematic analysis. The focus of this study is given to identify the changes in the structural response of case study bridge using different approaches. In inertial analysis, liquefaction effect on acceleration response spectrum was estimated via one-dimensional site response modeling. Some specifications have offered p-y curves for soil-pile interaction. Also, they suggest that the design response spectrum can be used in the case of liquefaction. Therefore, the liquefied and non-liquefied configuration was set up in this thesis for inertial analysis of this kind of bridge. In kinematic effects of soil, lateral spreading which is one of the major damaging mechanism of liquefaction also investigated. In this purpose, different soil profiles having different peak ground accelerations, the shear strain of the soil were analyzed. P-y curves belonging to the soil profile had been modeled and their effects on superstructure and infrastructure were discussed. It was observed that the structure period is highly important in considering inertial analysis. Pier seismic design forces are critical in liquefied response-spectrum models than non-liquefied one which is design spectrum. Also, pile forces were more critical in displacement applied lateral spreading. Then other methods, liquefaction effects on the spectrum can significantly alter the structural response for long period structures. 179

Uygun bir yer hareketi seçimi gerektiren zaman tanım alanında hesap yöntemi analizi, hesaplama yöntemleri ilerledikçe daha yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Herhangi bir yer hareketini ölçeklendirmenin, zaman tanım alanı analizinde kullanılacak en uygun yöntem olmadığı bilinmektedir. Yıllar boyunca, bilim adamları, hareketi karakterize etmek için bir dizi şiddet ölçüsü kullanarak kaydedilen yer hareketi verilerini incelediler. Bu çalışmanın odağı, 0.84 s ve 1.78 s arasında farklı doğal periyotlarda olan, doğrusal olmayan zaman tanım alanı analizlerinde kullanılacak dört farklı kavşak köprüsünün sismik kriterleri ile yer hareketlerinin şiddet ölçülerini karşılaştırmaktır. Bu kapsamda, toplam kırk iki yer hareketi kaydı kullanılarak doğrusal olmayan zaman tanımı analizleri yapılmıştır. Eksenel, kesme ve moment kuvvetlerinden oluşan kolon altı sismik kriterleri belirlemek için ivme, hız ve yer değiştirme esaslı ve diğer olmak üzere toplamda yirmi üç şiddet ölçüsü araştırılmıştır. Geleneksel olarak, en yüksek yer ivmesi, sismik tehlike ile yapısal analiz arasındaki ana ölçüm olarak kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, sonuçlar, diğer şiddet ölçülerine kıyasla, Hız Spektrum Şiddeti (cm), Sa (T1) (g) ve Housner şiddeti (cm) gibi şiddet ölçülerinin sismik kriterlerle daha iyi ilişkilere sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Time history analysis that requires a proper ground motion selection is becoming popular as computational methods advance. It has been known that scaling any ground motion will not be the best fit to be used in the time history analysis. Over the years, scientists have studied recorded ground motion data by the help of a set of intensity measures to characterize the movement. The aim of this study is to compare intensity measures of ground motions with seismic demand parameters used in nonlinear time history analyses of four flyover intersection highway bridges with various natural periods varying between 0.84 s and 1.78 s. In this scope, nonlinear time history analyses have been performed on a total of forty-two ground motion records. Twenty-three intensity measures grouped as acceleration, velocity, displacement based and other categories have been researched to detect a correlation with column base seismic demand parameters consisting of axial, shear and moment forces. Traditionally, the peak ground acceleration has been used as the main measure between seismic hazard and structural analysis. However, the results showed that intensity measures such as Velocity Spectrum Intensity (cm), Sa(T1) (g) and Housner intensity (cm) have better correlations with seismic demand parameters compared to other intensity measures. In general, the velocity-related intensity measures are the most appropriate intensity measures for the highway bridges analyzed. 364

Bu çalışma, yüksek hızlı tren köprülerinde kullanılan mesnet elemanlarının çeşitli deprem etkileri altındaki davranışlarının incelenmesini ve farklı mesnet tiplerinin (elastomer mesnet ve pot mesnet) deprem etkileri altındaki davranışlarının birbirleriyle kıyaslanmasını içermektedir.Bu çalışmada gerçek deprem verileri kullanılmıştır. Depremler seçilirken günlük yaşamda en çok karşılaşılan durumlarla örtüştürülerek gerçekçi yaklaşımlar ve sonuçlar elde edilmesi planlanmıştır. 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 büyüklüğündeki depremlerin, deprem merkezinden en az 15 km en fazla 30 km mesafede yer alan C ve D sınıfı zemin üzerindeki etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Deprem büyüklüğü ve zemin sınıfı parametreleri ile 6 farklı veri grubu oluşturulmuş, her veri grubu için 7 farklı deprem verisi kullanılmıştır.Mesnet tipine göre davranış kıyaslaması için kullanım yaygınlığı göz önüne alınarak elastomer mesnet ve pot mesnet tipleri seçilmiştir. Elastomer mesnet tipi kullanılarak modellenen köprülerde her bir kirişin altına bir elastomer mesnet konması bir durum; enleme kirişi yardımıyla daha az sayıda elastomer mesnet kullanılması ikinci bir durum; pot mesnet kullanılarak modellenen köprü durumu da üçüncü durum olarak değerlendirilmiştir.95 metre uzunluğunda, 3 açıklıklı, orta ayak yükseklikleri 15 er metre olan simetrik bir köprü hesaplar için seçilmiştir. Köprünün analizler için kullanılacak sayısal modeli SAP2000 v14.2.2 kullanılarak oluşturulmuş ve deprem verileri ile mesnet özellikleri modele uygulanarak analizleri yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma ile mesnet tiplerinin gerçek deprem verileri altındaki davranışları, zemin sınıfına ve deprem büyüklüklerine bağlı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. This study covers the investigation of behavior and comparison of two bearing types (elastomeric and pot bearings) under earthquake effects. Real earthquake records are used in this study. Earthquake selection is an important process. The plan behind the selection process is to cover the earthquakes with high occurrence rates in real life and to gain more realistic results. Magnitudes of selected earthquakes are 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0. The location assumed at which the effects of earthquakes investigated is 15 to 30 km away from the fault. Soil class of the assumed location is either C or D. Depending on earthquake magnitude and soil properties, 6 data groups are formed. In each group, 7 different earthquake data are taken into consideration.To make a comparison between the behavior of different bearing types, elastomeric and pot bearings are chosen since they are the most widely used bearing types. For elastomeric bearing used cases; case 1 is using elastomeric bearing under each beam and case 2 is using less elastomeric bearing under the cross beam. In pot bearing case, say case 3, the same amount of bearings is taken into the account as in case 2 of elastomeric bearing is used.This study has been done for the bridge which is 95-meter-long with 3 spans and 2 piers. Each pier has a height of 15 meters. For the analytic model and structural analysis finite element program, SAP2000 v.14.2.2 has been used. Within this study behavior of bearings under real earthquake effect depending upon magnitude and soil properties are investigated. 205

Bu çalışmada, `Omurga Sönümleyici` adlı yeni hibrit bir enerji sönümleyici sunulmaktadır. Sunulan cihaz iki ana bileşenden oluşmaktadır: viskoelastik (VE) birim ve büyütücü mekanizma. Enerji sönümlenmesi VE birimdeki deformasyonlardan ve mekanizma içindeki katı sürtünmeden meydana gelmektedir. Mekanizma, elastik kalacak şekilde tasarlanmıştır. Cihazın etkinliği, tam ölçekli prototip testlerinin nümerik simülasyonları ile doğrulanmıştır.Cihaz bileşenlerinin üretimi için üç boyutlu bir katı modeli detaylı olarak oluşturulmuştur. Üretilen prototip belirli frekans ve deplasman aralıklarında sinüsoidal deplasman girdileri için test edilmiştir. Testler sonucunda, cihazın önemli büyüklükte enerji sönümleme kapasitesi olduğu görülmüştür. Bu testlerle, cihazın davranışı ayrıntılı olarak gözlemlenmiş ve tasarım parametrelerinin Omurga sönümleyicinin performansındaki etkileri belirlenmiştir.Üretilen cihaz 100 yükleme çevriminden sonra hasarsız kalarak, kararlı ve tatmin edici bir histeretik performans göstermiştir. Testler sonucunda, cihazın dayanımında veya rijitliğinde azalma gözlemlenmemiştir. Testler sırasında ölçülmeyen parametrelerin de incelenmesi için nümerik simülasyonlar yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla, sonlu elemanlar analiz programı ABAQUS'te cihaz prototipinin detaylı üç boyutlu nümerik modeli oluşturulmuştur. Nümerik model test sonuçlarıyla doğrulanmıştır. Test sonuçları değerlendirilerek cihazın davranışı incelenmiş ve modelleme parametreleri için alt ve üst sınır değerleri elde edilmiştir. Son aşamada, omurga sönümleyicilerle donatılmış beş tane binanın şiddetli yer hareketleri altındaki tepkisi incelenmiştir. Yapısal davranışta önemli ölçüde iyileşme kaydedilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın nihai hedefi ve katkısı üç aşamada özetlenebilir: (1) yeni bir patentli pasif enerji sönümleme cihazının sunulması; (2) bu cihazın performansının değerlendirilmesi ve (3) cihaz davranışının kontrolü için tasarım parametrelerinin belirlenmesi. A new hybrid energy dissipation device named as `Backbone Damper` is introduced. The device assembly is composed of two main components: a viscoelastic (VE) unit and an internal displacement amplification mechanism. Energy dissipation is generated through deformations of the VE unit and friction within the mechanism. The mechanism is designed to remain elastic. The effectiveness of the device is verified through numerical simulations of tests of full-size prototypes. A comprehensive three-dimensional solid model of the device is developed to produce the parts of the assembly. The manufactured prototypes are tested under reversed sinusoidal cycles of displacement inputs over a range of frequencies and displacements. The test results evidence a promising device with significant energy dissipation capacity and stable behavior. Prototype tests are used to monitor the device response under different dynamic motions to quantify the design parameters of expected prevalent effect on the Backbone damper performance. The device demonstrates a stable hysteretic performance, satisfactory energy dissipation capacity and no damage after 100 cycles of reversed loading. Neither strength nor stiffness degradation are observed in the device performance.Numerical simulations are performed to monitor some of the parameters that are not measured during tests. To this aim, detailed three-dimensional numerical models of a prototype are developed in ABAQUS finite element analysis software. The numerical model is verified against the test results of the device. The test results are also studied to analyze the device behavior and provide estimates for the upper and lower bound values of device modelling parameters. Finally, the response of five buildings equipped with Backbone dampers under an ensemble of strong ground motions is analyzed. A significant improvement of structural response is recorded. The final aim and contribution of the research can be divided in three modules: (1) introduction of a new patented passive energy dissipation device; (2) assessment of its performance and (3) setting design parameters to control its response. 273

Ülkemizde tasarımı ve yapımı tamamlanmış köprülerde sıklıkla elastomer mesnetler kullanılmıştır. Bu mesnetler genellikle sadece köprü kirişlerinin ağırlığından oluşan basınç altında sürtünme yardımıyla yerlerinde durmaktadırlar. 1999 İzmit depreminin de gösterdiği üzere, düşey deprem hareketi özellikle bu köprülerde mesnet bölgelerinde yoğunlaşan hasarları arttırabilmektedir. Ülkemizdeki deprem tasarımı pratiğinde sürtünme katsayısı genellikle 0.20 olarak dikkate alınmaktadır. Bu doktora tez çalışmasının amacı, şartnameler tarafından mesnetler ve çelik kirişler arasında önerilen sürtünme katsayısı değerlerini deneysel yöntemlerle incelemek ve bağsız mesnetlerin statik ve dinamik kesme davranışlarını araştırmaktır. Bu bağlamda, 12 m açıklığa sahip olan ve 3.5 m genişliğindeki betonarme tabliyenin altında 3 adet çelik I kirişten oluşan bir köprü ve köprüye istenilen deplasman kaydını uygulayabilecek bir hidrolik pistona sahip sarsma tablası inşa edilmiştir. Dinamik yer hareketi simülasyonu altında mesnet etkileri ölçülmüştür. Gözlenen oldukça büyük sürtünme katsayısı nedeniyle, bağlı ve bağsız mesnetlerin deprem performansı benzerlik göstermiştir. Sarsma tablası ve statik mesnet sürtünme testleri sonuçları, sismik analizde sürtünme katsayısının 0.20 olarak kullanılmasının altyapıya aktarılan yüklerin güvensiz şekilde az tahmin edilmesine ve sismik deplasman istemlerinin de oldukça güvenli şekilde fazla hesaplanmasına yol açabileceğini ortaya koymuştur. Aksini gösteren test sonuçları olmadığı sürece, sismik tasarımda bu kadar küçük sürtünme katsayıları kullanılmamalıdır. Kapsamlı bir parametrik çalışmanın sonucunda, sismik deplasman istemlerine ait ve ivme katsayısının bir fonksiyonu olan güvenli bir eğilim çizgisi oluşturulmuş ve mesnetlerdeki maksimum kesme kuvvetlerinin hesabı için basit bir yöntem sunulmuştur. Elastomeric bearings were used in a majority of bridges completed in Turkey. Usually, the connection between bearings and the structure were established only by means of friction. Vertical excitation can contribute to a significant damage in such cases, especially at bearing locations, as indeed was the case in the recent 1999 İzmit Earthquake. In Turkish seismic design practice, a common friction coefficient of 0.20 is frequently used. The aim of this study is to look into the values suggested by specifications for friction coefficient between bearings and steel girders through experiments and to explore dynamic and static shear behavior of unbonded bearings. An actual bridge, spanning 12 m with a concrete deck of 3.5 m width over 3 steel I-girders is constructed on a shake table with a hydraulic actuator capable of delivering a user supplied displacement history. Bearing responses under seismic loadings were measured. Due to a very high friction coefficient, bonded and unbonded bearings exhibited similar seismic performance. Results of shake table and static friction tests performed on unbonded bearings indicated that use of a friction coefficient of 0.20 in seismic analysis can be unconservatively low to determine substructure forces and may significantly overestimate seismic displacement demands. Such low values should not be used in seismic design unless indicated otherwise by test data. A comprehensive parametric study was performed and a conservative trendline of deck displacements as a function of acceleration coefficients is presented with a procedure to estimate maximum bearing shear forces for the investigated cases. 180

Bu çalışma, Türkiye karayolu köprülerinin, ortaayak kolonları deprem tasarımının güvenilirlik teorisine göre değerlendirilmesini hedeflemiştir. Türkiye karayolları köprüleri American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges 17th Ed. (AASHTO LFD 2002) kullanılarak tasarlanmaktadır. Ancak tasarım koşulları `Yük ve Dayanım Faktörü (LRFD)` metoduna göre güncellenmektedir. Bu çalışma ile, Türkiyede inşa edilen köprülerin güvenilirlik seviyesinin belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. AASHTO LRFD 2010, AASHTO LRFD 2007, AASHTO LFD 2002, Türk revizyonu AASHTO LFD 2002'ye göre tasarlanmış köprülerin güvenilirlik seviyesinin belirlenmesi için çalışılmıştır. Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü tarafından ODTU ve TUBITAK ile birlikte yürütülen 110G093 numaralı `Türkiye Köprü Mühendisliğinde Tasarım ve Yapımına İlişkin Teknolojilerin Gelirtirilmesi` projesinin kapsamında yeni bir deprem tasarımı bölümü oluşturulmuştur. Bu tez çalışmasında, devam eden proje kapsamında sunulması planlanan ilgili bölüme göre yapılacak köprülerin güvenilirlik seviyesi de belirlenmiştir. Gerçek yapısal durumları en uygun şekilde yansıtabilmek ve belirsizlikleri değerlendirmek için deprem yükleri ve kolon taşıma kapasitelerinin belirlenmesinde kullanılan tüm istatistiksel parametreler yerli ve yabancı literatürden elde edilmiştir. Deprem yükleri tek serbestlik dereceli köprü modellerinin tepki spektrumu analizi ile elde edilmiştir. Kolon taşıma kapasiteleri çift eksenli eğilme ve eksenel basınç tesirleri gözönüne alınarak belirlenmiştir. Bunun için, `Interaction Surfaces of Reinforced – Concrete Sections in Biaxial Bending` (Fafitis, 2001) de teorisi anlatılan, Green teoremi ile oluşturulmuş etkileşim yüzeyi algoritması hazırlanmıştır. Güvenilirlik katsayısı sayısal Monte Carlo simulasyonu yöntemi kullanılarak hesaplanmış, Birinci Mertebe Güvenilirlik Metodu ve Birinci Mertebe İkincil Moment Güvenilirlik Metodları kullanılarak analitik çözümler ile karşılaştırılmıştır. This study aims to evaluate the safety level of seismic design of Turkish highway bridge pier columns with respect to reliability theory. Evaluation of bridges was performed for four different codes of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Reliability indices were calculated for AASHTO Load and Resistance Factor Design 2010 (AASHTO LRFD 2010), AASHTO LRFD 2007, AASHTO Standard Specifications of Highway Bridges (LFD 2002) and Turkish modification of AASHTO LFD 2002 (current design code for highway bridges in Turkey). In the scope of project number of 110G093 `Development of Turkish Bridge Design Engineering and Construction Technologies` associated with Middle East Technical University (METU) and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and Turkish bridge design authority General Directorate of Highways (KGM), a new seismic design chapter was proposed based on LRFD provisions. In this study, proposed specifications were also evaluated based on the structural reliability methodology. The statistical data of all components in seismic load demand and column carrying capacity were studied based on both local and international literature to assess the uncertainties. Seismic load demand was calculated with response spectrum analysis of simplified single degree of freedom models of various bridges. Load carrying capacity of pier columns were checked for bi-axial bending combined with axial compression. For that purpose, an algorithm based on Green's theorem was written for development of the interaction surface adopted from the `Interaction Surfaces of Reinforced – Concrete Sections in Biaxial Bending` (Fafitis, 2001). Reliability index was calculated with numerical Monte Carlo Simulation Method and compared with First Order Reliability Method and First Order Second Moment Reliability Methods. 130

Bu tezde sunulan deneysel çalışma yaygın olarak kullanılan elastomer mesnedin ortasında açılan deliğe küçük çaplı çelik bilyeler doldurulması ve bu bilyelerin yatay yüklerden kaynaklanan ötelenmeler altında sürtünme vasıtası ile deliğin içerisinde enerji sönümlemesi neticesinde elastomer mesnedin enerji sönümleme kapasitesini arttırarak yeni bir kauçuk esaslı sismik izolatör tipi geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Önerilen mesnet tipi ?Bilyeli Kauçuk Mesnet (BKM)? olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Değişik geometrik ve malzeme özelliklerine sahip çok sayıda BKM üretilmiş ve değişik düşey yükler altında tersinir çevrimsel yatay yükleme testleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Mesnedin ortasındaki delikteki ilave sargı etkisinin BKM'in performansına olan etkisini araştırmak için bazı ilave testler yapılmıştır. Test sonuçları, BKM'in tasarım denklemlerini geliştirmek için kullanılmıştır. Test sonuçlarını doğrulamak için detaylı bir lineer olmayan sonlu elemanlar modeli oluşturulmuştur. Önerilen analitik modelin mesnetlerin histeretik davranışını yansıttığıgörülmüştür. BKM'lerin tasarımında, önerilen lineer olmayan sonlu elemanlar modeli ve tasarım denklemleri beraber kullanılabilir.Çok sayıda test sonucu, çelik bilyelerin enerji sönümlemekle beraber aynı zamanda elastomer mesnetin yatay ve düşey rijitliğini de arttırdığını ortaya koymuştur. Bilyeli Kauçuk Mesnetlerin (BKM) enerji sönümleme kapasitelerinin artan yük döngüleri altında azalmadığı gözlemlenmektedir ki bu da BKM'in oldukça güvenilir sismik performansını ortaya koymaktadır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Sismik İzolatör, Kauçuk, Çelik Bilye, Enerji Sönümleme, Sürtünme The experimental research presented in this dissertation aims to develop a new rubber?based seismic isolator type on the basis of the idea that the damping of a conventional annular elastomeric bearing (EB) can be increased by filling its central core with small diameter steel balls, which dissipate energy via friction inside the confined hole of the bearing during their movements under horizontal loads. The proposed bearing type is called ?Ball Rubber Bearing (BRB)?. A large set of BRBs with different geometrical and material properties are manufactured and tested under reversed cyclic horizontal loading at different vertical compressive load levels. Effect of supplementary confinement in the central hole of the bearing to performance of BRB is studied by performing some additional tests. Test results are used to develop design equations for BRB.A detailed non-linear finite element model is developed to verify the test results. The proposed analytical model is determined to simulate the structural hysteretic behaviour of the bearings. In design of BRBs, the proposed design guideline can be used in conjunction with the proposed non-linear finite element analysis.Extensive test results indicate that steel balls do not only increase the energy dissipation capacity of the elastomeric bearing (EB) but also increase its horizontal and vertical stiffness. It is also observed that the energy dissipation capacity of a BRB does not degrade as the number of loading cycles increases, which indicates remarkably reliable seismic performance.Keywords: Seismic Isolator, Rubber, Steel Ball, Energy Dissipation, Friction 231

Karayolu köprülerinin sismik tasarımı, son otuz yıldaki büyük depremlerden kazanılan tecrübelerin sonucunda gelişmiştir. Süneklilik istemi ve rezerv kapasite, hedef hasar seviyelerinin değerlendirilmesi için yeni köprü tasarımlarında kullanılan son derece önemli tepki ölçüleridir. Ancak köprü tasarım yönetmeliklerinde belirtilen pratik tasarım yaklaşımlarının uygulaması, esnek temeller üzerindeki köprüler için iyi tanımlanmamıştır. Bu araştırma kapsamında, değişken kolon boy/çap oranı, kolon boyuna donatı oranı ve zemin esnekliği parametrelerine sahip otuz iki köprü modeli, 1000 senelik tekrarlama periyoduna sahip ?güvenlik değerlendirmesi depremi? altındaki tepki spektrumu analizi ve elastik ötesi zaman tanım analizi, ve artımsal itme analizi gibi bir dizi analiz aracılığıyla incelenmiştir. Analiz sonuçları kullanılarak incelenen köprülerin deprem davranışları, kolonların maksimum beton ve donatı birim şekil değiştirmeleri ile birlikte deplasman kapasite istem oranı, global deplasman süneklilik istemi, tepki modifikasyon faktörü gibi çeşitli tepki ölçülerine gore belirlenmiştir. Çokça kullanılan tepki ölçüleri ile hasar seviyelerini tahmin etmek için beton ve donatı birim şekil değiştirmeleri ve sismik tepki ölçüleri arasında bir ilişki kurulmuştur. Bu araştırmadaki bulgular, global deplasman süneklilik isteminin hasar seviyelerinin tayini için uygun bir tepki ölçüsü olmadığını göstermiştir. Diğer taraftan; hasar seviyelerinin tahmini için, özellikle zemin esnekliği etkisinin çok olduğu yerlerde sistemin akması dikkate alınmadığından dolayı deplasman kapasite istem oranları önerilebilir. Seismic design of highway bridges has improved as a result of the experience gained from large earthquakes of the last thirty years. Ductility demand and reserved capacity are extremely important response measures used in new bridge designs to assess target damage levels. However, the application of practical design approaches specified in bridge design codes is not well-defined for bridges over flexible foundations. Within the scope of this research, thirty two bridge models having varying column aspect ratio, amount of column longitudinal reinforcement and foundation flexibility parameters are investigated through a series of analyses such as response spectrum analysis and inelastic time-history analysis under ?safety evaluation earthquake? hazard level with a return period of 1000 years, and push-over analysis. Using the results of analyses, seismic response of the investigated bridges are identified with several measures such as displacement capacity over demand ratio, global displacement ductility demand, and response modification factor, along with maximum concrete and steel strains of columns. A correlation between concrete and steel strains and seismic response measure values is constructed to estimate damage levels with commonly used response measures. The findings of this research revealed that global displacement ductility demand is not a favorable response measure for assessing damage levels. On the other hand, displacement capacity over demand ratios can be suggested for estimation of damage levels especially where foundation flexibility effects are extensive as system yielding is not taken into consideration. 215
