A new porcellanid species of the genus Enosteoides Johnson, 1970 is described on the basis of a single specimen collected from the burrow of an unidentified snapping shrimp of the genus Alpheus Fabricius, 1798, on the subtidal coarse sediment in Okinawa Island, Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. Enosteoides lapis n. sp. is similar to E. melissa (Miyake, 1942) and E. philippinensis Dolorosa & Werding, 2014 in the general morphology of the frontal region of the carapace, third thoracic sternite, and ambulatory legs, but is distinguished from both by the dorsal surface of the carapace being more strongly uneven, as well as by the absence of dense plumose setae on the lateral margins of the carapace, anterodorsal surfaces of the chelae, and anterior and posterior margins of the ambulatory meri.

A total of eleven species and two subspecies are recognized within the Chinese endemic genus Straneostichus Sciaky, 1994 (Carabidae: Pterostichini), including three new species described in the present paper: Straneostichus politus sp. nov. (Sichuan: Wolong), Straneostichus liupanensis sp. nov. (Ningxia: Liupanshan) and Straneostichus ganqingensis sp. nov. (Qinghai: Mengda and Gansu: Dangchang). Taxonomical notes and new distribution records for all the known species are provided, along with an updated key to the species of Straneostichus.

The genera Philmontis Willemse, 1966 and Philmontoides gen. nov. are revised. Both genera are of similar general appearance and share a similar color pattern. They differ in the length of the male pronotum that covers the stridulatory area in Philmontis but leaves it free in Philmontoides, by the length of the prosternal spines, by the absence or presence of spines on the inner margin of the hind femur and the hind knees being provided with a single or with two apical spines. The male titillators of Philmontis are often elongate and rather simple, but always terminate into a small sclerotized disc that is missing in Philmontoides and in which the titillators of most species show striking modifications of the apical areas differing among species. The ovipositor is regularly curved to an acute end in Philmontis but has the dorsal valves expanded around mid-length in Philmontoides. The affinity of Nicsara forcipata Willemse, 1966 with the type species of Philmontis (P. nigrofasciatus Willemse, 1966) is confirmed on basis of the homology of the male cerci and titillators in both species. P. minimus Willemse, 1966, originally described as forma of P. nigrofasciatus, is given full species status. Eleven species are described as new in the genus Philmontis Willemse, 1966: Philmontis angustus sp. nov., P. murmur sp. nov., P. banz sp. nov., P. flexus sp. nov., P. extensus sp. nov., P. spinosus sp. nov., P. angulatus sp. nov., P. profusus sp. nov., P. robustus sp. nov., P. pandus sp. nov. and P. pumilus sp. nov.—Lobaspis hageni Dohrn, 1905 is selected as type species of the genus Philmontoides gen. nov. Two species, Nicsara affinis Willemse, 1966 and Philmontis lobatus Naskrecki & Rentz, 2010, are newly combined with Philmontoides. Six species are described as new in that genus: Philmontoides globosus sp. nov., P. disjunctus sp. nov., P. striatus sp. nov., P. geminus sp. nov., P. commodus sp. nov., P. wau sp. nov.

A new species found in northern Thailand and northern India, Waynokiops pentacanthus sp. n., is described based on eggs, larvae, subimagines and imagines of both sexes associated by rearing. A new species from southern India, Waynokiops palifer sp. n. is described based on a mature larva with female subimago and eggs extracted from this larva. All larvae of both species were collected in rivers running in mountain areas. Formerly, the genus Waynokiops Hill et al. 2010 included a single species W. dentatogriphus Hill et al. 2010 known from a few larvae collected in lakes of North America and unknown before 2007. Based on the fact that two newly discovered species of Waynokiops have an Oriental distribution, an assumption is expressed, that W. dentatogriphus is also originally distributed somewhere in the Oriental Region, from where it was introduced into North America. Winged stages are described for Waynokiops for the first time, allowing a more complete generic diagnosis and a better understanding of its systematic position.

A new species of the axiid genus Ambiaxius Sakai & de Saint Laurent, 1989 (Decapoda: Axiidae: Axiidea), Ambiaxius abyssalis sp. nov., is described from the Banda Sea, Southwestern Pacific, at a depth of 3000–3374 m, which represents the first abyssal record of the family Axiidae and even the infraorder Axiidea. The new species shows a combination of morphological features, that places it in an intermediate position between two species groups of the genus, differing in the shape/armature of the rostrum, the length of the article 4 of the antennal peduncle and the morphology of the pleopod I. The genera Ambiaxius Sakai & de Saint Laurent, 1989 (the deepest record—3000–3374 m), Calocarides Wollebaek, 1908 (2000–2036 m) and Anophthalmaxius de Man, 1905 (1788 m) are of the deepest dwelling representatives of the family Axiidae.

Cyrtopodion aravallense (Gill, 1997) is a poorly known species, known only from the holotype and original description. I re-examined the holotype housed in the museum of Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai and find some discrepancies between the original description and the holotype. Here, I redescribe the holotype of C. aravallense in greater detail and provide a revised diagnosis of the species. It is distinguished from all its congeners in having enlarged, regularly arranged transverse rows of 15 trihedral tubercles; 25–26 midbody scale rows across belly; 102 midventral scales; males with 6 precloacal pores, 7–8 femoral pores on each side separated by 3–5 poreless scales between precloacal and femoral pores.

A survey of Portanini (Insecta: Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) from Parque Nacional do Itatiaia, Southeastern Brazil was conducted. This survey resulted in an increase of the known diversity of Portanini from one to four species in the area. Portanus youngi Linnavuori, 1959 is newly recorded from Minas Gerais State and Itatiaia and Resende municipalities (Rio de Janeiro State), while Portanus felixi Carvalho, 2012 is newly recorded from the municipality of Itatiaia (Rio de Janeiro State). In addition, two new species of Portanini are described: Portanus cornutus sp. nov. and Portanus spherae sp. nov. from Rio de Janeiro State. The former can be distinguished from other Portanus species by four short longitudinal white stripes on posterior margin of crown and pygofer lobe long and with ventrally curved processes. The latter can be distinguished from other Portanus species by a pair of long posteroventral spiniform processes on pygofer; aedeagus with long preatrium, robust atrium, long dorsal apodemes, and shaft directed dorsally; and internal female sternite VIII sclerotized.

Dasycerus occultus Hashizume & Maruyama, sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on specimens from Japan (Honshu and Kyushu). The holotype of D. japonicus Nakane, 1963 was revisited. The “D. japonicus” illustrated by Löbl & Calame (1996) was found not to be D. japonicus but rather to be D. occultus sp. nov. The discussion also includes D. poseidon Hu & Liang, 2021 from Taiwan. The phylogenetic relationships of this genus from Japan based on mitochondrial DNA sequences are discussed.

The genus Cassida Linnaeus, 1758 is revised and 103 species are recognized as valid, all distributed in Sub-Saharan Africa and the south-western part of the Arabian Peninsula. Twenty-four species are described as new: Cassida bamendana sp. nov. (Cameroon), Cassida benaadirensis sp. nov. (Ethiopia and Somalia), Cassida elgonensis sp. nov. (Kenya), Cassida emontinensis sp. nov. (South Africa), Cassida garambana sp. nov. (Democratic Republic of Congo), Cassida heroni sp. nov. (Mozambique and South Africa), Cassida kantnerorum sp. nov. (Malawi), Cassida leleupi sp. nov. (Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda), Cassida minutissima sp. nov. (Somalia), Cassida nigeriana sp. nov. (Nigeria), Cassida oromiaensis sp. nov. (Ethiopia), Cassida overlaeti sp. nov. (Democratic Republic of Congo), Cassida oxylepiformis sp. nov. (South Africa), Cassida rabaiensis sp. nov. (Kenya), Cassida rogozinskii sp. nov. (Cameroon), Cassida satanas sp. nov. (Uganda), Cassida senegalensis sp. nov. (Senegal), Cassida shimba sp. nov. (Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa), Cassida sparteiformis sp. nov. The following new synonyms are proposed: Cassida callosicollis Spaeth, 1926 = Cassida magilensis Spaeth, 1926 syn. nov.; Cassida eluta Boheman, 1862 = Cassida cherenica Spaeth, 1917 syn. nov.; Cassida lacrymosa Boheman, 1854 = Cassida trepidula Spaeth, 1932 syn. nov.; Cassida praetimida Spaeth, 1912 = Cassida chapuisi Spaeth, 1912 syn. nov.; Cassida troglodytes Boheman, 1834 = Cassida impompalis Spaeth, 1924 syn. nov. = Cassida lueboensis Spaeth, 1932 syn. nov. Cassida setosa Chapuis, 1880 is a valid species and removed from synonymy with Cassida innotata Boheman, 1854. Colour photos, including intraspecific variablity, a key to species and maps of distribution are given.

New taxonomic and faunistic data for fifteen species of the tribe of Omaliini McLeay, 1825 from the eastern Palaearctic and Oriental regions are provided. Five species are described and illustrated as new: Carcinocephalus cuccodoroi sp.n. (India: Assam), Paraphloeostiba gracillima sp.n. (Thailand: Chiang Mai), P. moluccensis sp.n. (Indonesia: Yamdena Island), P. subuliformis sp.n. (Laos), and Tetradelus sinensis sp.n. (China: Yunnan). The aedeagus, abdominal segments and spermatheca of Acrolocha wahuiense Zhong, Zhao & Li, 2009, and abdominal segments of the female of P. cooteri Shavrin, 2020, previously known only on males, are illustrated. New records are presented: Nipponophloeostiba longilobata Shavrin, 2020 and Paraphloeostiba formosana Shavrin & Smetana, 2016 from India, P. cooteri from Fujian and Guangdong provinces of China, P. gayndahensis (MacLeay, 1873) from India and Nepal, P. opacicollis Steel, 1960 from Malaysia, Phloeonomus (s.str.) pusillus (Gravenhorst, 1806) from Pakistan, and Phloeostiba plana (Paykull, 1792) from China.

A new species of ant-resembling sac spider of the subfamily Castianeirinae, Grismadox elsneri sp. nov., is described from the Sub-Andean area of the Bolivian orocline. The species was collected from savanna grass along the edges of the Chiquitano forest and is a putative mimic of the carpenter ants Camponotus cf. crassus or C. cf. blandus.

Four limoniid genera are added to Japan for the first time. Four new species, Crypteria nippon sp. nov., Dasymallomyia tachii sp. nov., Eupilaria japonica sp. nov., and Protohelius japonicus sp. nov. are described, and Dasymallomyia ditenostyla Alexander, 1964 is recorded from Japan for the first time. Images of the habitus and wings and drawings of the male and female terminalia are provided.

A new snake of the genus Achalinus Peters, 1869 is described based on an adult male specimen from Son La Province, Vietnam. Achalinus vanhoensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following characters: 1) maxillary teeth 32; 2) suture between the internasals distinctly longer than that between the prefrontals; 3) loreal fused with prefrontal, prefrontals stretch towards the supralabials; 4) dorsal scales in 25–23–23 rows, keeled; 5) supralabials six (left) and seven (right); 6) infralabials six; 7) temporals 2+2, the two anterior temporals in broad contact with eye; 8) ventrals 176; 9) subcaudals 84, entire; 10) cloacal entire; 11) dorsum in preservative dark purple grey above; 12) venter somewhat lighter with yellow-edged scales in the chin region, including infralabials; 13) posterior edges of ventrals and subcaudals with yellow margin. In the molecular analysis, the new species is recovered as a sister taxon of Achalinus timi, a species endemic to Vietnam, and genetically the two species are around 5% divergent from each other based on a fragment of the mitochondrial COI gene. This discovery brings the number of Achalinus species known from Vietnam to nine.

Two new species of the Chilean endemic genus Neogonyleptes Roewer, 1913 are described based on specimens obtained in the Nahuelbuta mountain range, Biobío and La Araucanía Regions. The new taxa are morphologically allied to Neogonyleptes karschii (Sørensen, 1902); however, both differ from all species of the genus by their dorsal scutum area III+IV, which is armed with a large, apically bifurcate apophysis. Neogonyleptes floresi sp. nov. differs from N. pedrazai sp. nov. principally in the slender body and legs, the proximal constriction of the scutal apophysis, and the distally straight prolateral apophysis on coxa IV. Detailed descriptions, illustrations, and comparisons of the new species are given. Additionally, some comments are provided about the taxonomy of Neogonyleptes and allied genera.

The Japanese species of the genus Plesiochara Sawada, 1989 (tribe Aleocharini) are revised. Four species are recognized from Japan: Plesiochara japonica (Sharp, 1874) comb. nov. (removed from Ocalea Erichson), P. nitida Sawada, 1990, P. inflexa sp. nov. and P. rufula sp. nov. Plesiochara fusca Sawada, 1989 is synonymized with P. japonica, syn. nov. All species are described or redescribed, and a key is provided.

New information of the genus Agalope Walker, 1854 from mainland China is presented. Three new species of the Agalope pica species-group are described: A. haoi S.-Y. Huang sp. n. from Weixi County, Yunnan, A. chayuensis S.-Y. Huang & Pan sp. n. from Chayu County, Southeastern Xizang and A. owadai S.-Y. Huang sp. n. from Bomi and Jiali Counties, Southeastern and Eastern Xizang. The little-known Agalope aurelia Oberthür, 1923 and A. lucia Oberthür, 1923 were rediscovered, with the male of the latter reported for the first time. Based on the newly discovered male, Agalope lucia is found to be a close relative of A. dejeani, hence it is excluded from the A. pica species-group and transferred to the A. bieti species-group. A new species of the Agalope hyalina species-group is also described: A. jianqingi S.-Y. Huang sp. n. from Pianma, Western Yunnan. Adults and genitalia of the aforementioned and related taxa are illustrated. An updated checklist of the genus is also provided.

Illustrated descriptions of species from the Macropsidius bogutensis group from Southern Kazakhstan with data on biology, male calling signals, and distribution are provided. M. karatavicus sp. n. from Syrdaryinskiy Karatau Range is described and the synonymy M. bogutensis Mityaev, 1990 = M. zhuravlevi Mityaev, 2014, syn n. is established. Conclusions concerning the evolution of M. bogutensis species group are presented.

To date, only two whip spider species have been recorded in China. We describe a new species, Sarax sinensis sp. nov., from Fujian, China. This species is morphologically similar to S. ioanniticus (Kritscher, 1959), S. israelensis (Miranda et al., 2016), and S. seychellarum (Kraepelin, 1898), but can be distinguished by the combination of the following characters: 35 segments in leg I tarsus, eight teeth on cheliceral claw, and four dorsal and ventral spines respectively on pedipalp femur. To examine the evolutionary history of S. sinensis sp. nov., we sequenced 12S, 16S, and COI gene regions of our specimens and inferred its phylogenetic position. The inferred phylogenetic trees placed the new species within Sarax, with its closest relative being distributed across the western Asia. The type specimens are deposited in the Museum of Biology, East China Normal University (ECNU).

Recently particular attention of cladocerologists has focussed on a subtropical-southern temperate zone of the Far East of Eurasia comprising a center of water flea (Crustacea: Cladocera) endemism. Two endemic taxa were described previously from Jeju Island (Republic of Korea), but still the cladocerans of this island are poorly known. The aim of this communication is to describe a new species of Coronatella (Coronatella) Dybowski & Grochowski, 1894 (Anomopoda: Chydoridae) and discuss diagnostic characters of this taxon with reference to their diagnostic value in other cladoceran groups. Surprisingly, all characters discriminating C. (C.) jejuana sp. nov. from closest C. (C.) rectangula (Sars, 1862) are from the set suggested for chydorid species delimitation by Nikolai Smirnov more than 50 years ago. Therefore, a search for diagnostic characters of a potentially new taxon could concentrate on just some potentially important structures. However, a program of detailed redescriptions of previously established taxa is necessary for an adequate description of new taxa which are congeners of the former, and such comprehensive work is still in its infancy.

The subgenus Thao Tsuneki, 1982 of the genus Crossocerus Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau and Brullé, 1835 is recorded for the first time from India. A new subspecies viz., Crossocerus (Thao) nitidicorpus indicus, (India: Uttarakhand) is described. A key to all subspecies in the subgenus Thao is provided.

We examined the population and reproductive characteristics of the anomuran crab Pachycheles stevensii Stimpson, 1858 (Decapoda: Porcellanidae) heavily infested by 2 rhizocephalans of the genus Lernaeodiscus in the northern part of the species range (Peter the Great Bay, Sea of Japan) in 2020-2021. The prevalence of infestation reached 32.3%, and L. rybakovi proved to be much more numerous than L. kasyanovi. The sex structure of the P. stevensii population was represented by males (38.8%), females (50.6%), and modified specimens (10.6%), which were extremely feminized males. The latter had a broadened abdomen, smaller chelae, shortened gonopod, and 3 additional pairs of female-type pleopods. Thus, the initial sex ratio in the P. stevensii population approximated the expected 1:1, as in most porcellanid crabs. No significant modifications of the secondary sex characters of the female hosts were observed. The size structures of males and females did not significantly differ. P. stevensii produced 1 clutch yr-1. Oviposition and incubation lasted from summer to early fall; recruitment was noted in the fall. There was a correlation between the reproductive cycles of the host and parasites: rhizocephalans with mature externae were found from June-October. A large number of ovigerous female P. stevensii simultaneously carried parasitic externae of L. rybakovi; fecundity was considerably higher in non-infested females.

The taxonomic review of the genus Dendarus Dejean, 1821 from Iran and Turkmenistan is given. In total, five species are distributed in Iran and four species in South Turkmenistan; three species occur in both countries. The new species D. matthewsi sp. n. is described from Iran and compared with D. simplex Seidlitz, 1893. One taxon is resurrected from a synonymy with D. transcaspicus: D. vagabundus sp. resurr. As a result, one Afghan subspecies of D. transcaspicus belongs to another species: D. vagabundus afghanicus Kaszab, 1973. The following new synonymy is proposed: Dendarus vagabundus vagabundus Reitter, 1904 = D. transcaspicus medvedevi Kaszab, 1973, syn. n. Lectotypes of Dendarus armeniacus Baudi di Selve, 1876 and D. leonhardi Schuster, 1940 are designated. The following erroneous interpretations of Iranian and Turkmenian species are indicated: D. vagabundus = D. armeniacus sensu G. Medvedev = D. transcaspicus sensu Kaszab; D. armeniacus = D. simplex sensu G. Medvedev. New distribution data are given: D. armeniacus—N Iran (excluded from faunistic lists of Armenia, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey); D. crenulatus (Ménétriés, 1832)—Turkey, Transcaucasia, the North Caucasus (Russia: Dagestan, Chechen Republic), N Iran, Turkmenistan (new record for the country); D. leonhardi—NE Iran, S Turkmenistan; D. matthewsi Nabozhenko sp. n.—W Iran (Zagros); D. transcaspicus Brancsik, 1899—S Turkmenistan (Kopetdag); D. vagabundus vagabundus Reitter, 1904—N Iran, S Turkmenistan (Kopetdag). Two species must be excluded from Iranian faunistic list: D. simplex—Turkey, Syria, Iraq; D. extensus (Faldermann, 1837)—Georgia, Armenia, W Azerbaijan, Turkey (new record for the country). Well-illustrated keys to males and females of Iranian and Turkmenian species of the genus are given.

A new species of the genus Sweltsa Ricker, 1943, Sweltsa lateoblonga Rehman, Du & Huo sp. nov. from Wanglang Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province, China, is described and compared with similar species. A new species group, Sweltsa recurvata group, is proposed for Sweltsa species that lack a transverse ridge on tergum 9. The new species, together with five recognized Palearctic and two Nearctic species, are included in the new group. A taxonomic key to species in this group is included. In addition, unidentified male and female specimens of Sweltsa recorded from Anzihe Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province, and its morphological differences with similar species are discussed with contemporary color images.

This paper reports one new species of the genus Microconema Liu, 2015, i.e. Microconema arctilamina sp. nov., and provides the characteristics and habitus photographs. Illustrations of important morphology of Microconema clavata (Uvarov, 1933) are also provided for the first time. The materials examined (including type specimens) are deposited in the Museum of Hebei University.

A new ant-like spider species of the subfamily Castianeirinae, Mazax akephaloi sp. nov., representing the second species of Mazax recorded from South America, is described from the Bolivian orocline and the Paraguayan Chaco region. The new species superficially resembles Mazax ramirezi Rubio & Danişman, 2014, but can be distinguished from this species and all other congeners by a combination of the following characters: feathery setae on the carapace, a tibia I spine formula of 5–4 in males and 5–5 in females, the embolus sub-apical with a spatulate extension, the lung-shaped spermathecae II and slightly undulating copulatory ducts. Adults of M. akephaloi sp. nov. were observed foraging in association with workers of the ant Ectatomma permagnum Forel, 1908 on the ground or leaf litter along forest edges. Although the spiders were lacking a structure imitating the head of the ants, they shared several characters (dark brown integument with distinct, coarse wrinkles and shiny reflections, abdomen anteriorly with dorsally pointing process and distinct median constriction) that increased the species-specific similarity to their potential ant models.

The description of the monotypic genus Papuaneon Maddison, 2016 was based on two specimens of Papuaneon tualapa Maddison, 2016 from Papua New Guinea. This species, plus five new species, namely Papuaneon eungella n. sp., Papuaneon eurobodalla n. sp., Papuaneon ewingar n. sp., Papuaneon tapin n. sp. and Papuaneon werrikimbe n. sp., are described from eastern Australia. These species occur serially down the east coast of Australia from Cape York to Tasmania.

The Eucelatoria ferox group is a lineage of 26 species of the New World genus Eucelatoria Townsend (Tachinidae) in which the female bears a distinctive sword-like piercer. The E. ferox group is revised and illustrated in detail, including nine species redescriptions and seventeen new species. This work also includes three new species synonyms and one new genus synonym. Three morphology-based subgroups are recognized and supported by genetic and host evidence as well as by geographic patterns. The E. ferox subgroup contains species with only two dorsal thoracic vittae on both the presutural and postsutural areas, including Eucelatoria ferox (Townsend), E. huitepecensis sp. nov., and E. inclani sp. nov. The E. gladiatrix subgroup contains those species with four dorsal thoracic vittae on both the presutural and postsutural areas, including Eucelatoria aurata (Townsend), E. auriceps (Aldrich), E. borealis sp. nov., E. charapensis (Townsend), E. crambivora sp. nov., E. falcata sp. nov., E. fordlandia sp. nov., E. gladiatrix (Townsend), E. jorgecortesi sp. nov., E. luctuosa (Wulp), E. rivalis (Reinhard), E. sabroskyi sp. nov., E. strigata (Wulp), E. texana (Reinhard), E. woodorum sp. nov., and E. yanayacu sp. nov. The E. kopis subgroup contains species with a single large dorsal thoracic vitta on the postsutural area and usually two vittae on the presutural area, including Eucelatoria gustavogutierrezi sp. nov., E. hafelei sp. nov., E. kopis sp. nov., E. makhaira sp. nov., E. ritavargasae sp. nov., E. sica sp. nov., and E. tenebrionis sp. nov. The following new synonymies are proposed: Proroglutea Townsend under Eucelatoria Townsend, syn. nov.; Eucelatoria fasciata (Townsend) and E. minima (Wulp) under E. strigata (Wulp), syn. nov.; Proroglutea pilligera Townsend under Eucelatoria gladiatrix (Townsend), syn. nov. Additionally, Telothyria lugens Wulp and Exorista obscurata Wulp are removed from synonymy with Eucelatoria luctuosa (Wulp) and resurrected as Eucelatoria lugens (Wulp) and E. obscurata (Wulp). The E. gladiatrix subgroup appears to be specialized on Crambidae (Lepidoptera) caterpillars, while the E. kopis subgroup parasitizes a variety of Lepidoptera families; host use for the E. ferox subgroup is unknown. The characteristic “leaf-rolling” habit of host families and visual evidence from rearing records suggests that the long piercers are used to penetrate leaf tissue for oviposition. Species of the E. ferox group are distributed throughout the Western Hemisphere from southern Canada to northern Argentina, with the highest species diversity and likely center of origin in the Central and South American tropics.

In the genus Claassenia Wu, 1934, the sensilla basiconica patch is an important identification characteristic, yet there are few studies that have investigated this trait. Recently, we found that tergum 8 of males of Claassenia qingzanga Xiang, Huo & Du, 2021 collected from the Qinghai Province of China have a small, scattered basiconica patch, while the specimens collected from the Tibet Autonomous Region of China lack this characteristic. To verify their genetic relationship, we sequenced the mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit I gene of C. qingzanga collected from Tibet and Qinghai provinces. Phylogenetic analyses using Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian Inference methods, the two forms of C. qingzanga grouped together with strong nodal support and separate from the other Claassenia species analyzed. Genetic distance among these two forms of C. qingzanga is only about 1%. The molecular analyses confirmed that specimens with morphological differences are indeed the same species. A discussion of morphological differences within C. qingzanga and its genetic relationships are presented based on molecular data. Additionally, Claassenia magna Wu, 1948 is redescribed based on recent specimens.

New taxonomic and faunisic data for five species of Omaliini McLeay, 1825 of Chile are provided. Two species are (re-) described: Omaliopsis russata (Fairmaire & Germain, 1861) and O. struyvei sp.n. (southern Chile). The genus Stenomalium Blackwelder, 1943, previously known from Australian and Oceanic regions, is recorded from South America for the first time: S. picipenne (Fauvel, 1867) comb. nov. (from Omalium Gravenhorst, 1802) and unnamed S. sp. A new faunistic material for Xenanthobium andicola (Fauvel, 1867) is given. The habitus of all species, and aedeagi and abdominal segments of three species (except Stenomalium) are provided.

The ‘cleaning rock pool’ shrimp commonly inhabit the shallow waters of reef and crevices regions at 0.5-3.0 m depth. Recent exploration conducted off the Gulf of Mannar and Agatti Island yielded the species, Urocaridella antonbruunii (Bruce, 1967) from the bottom curve of the coral boulder at a depth of 0.5-1.0 m. This is the new record for the Gulf of Mannar and Lakshadweep waters. Major distinguishing morphological characters of the congener's were described and illustrated. The molecular analysis confirmed the species occurrence in Indian waters followed the intraspecific and interspecific genetic divergences (16S gene) were estimated between 0.3-2.1% for within species and 6.4-11.2% for between species respectively. Additionally, we updated and provided the illustrative key characters for all members of the genus Urocaridella.

Scrobipalpula onorei sp. nov. is described from Las Pampas, Ecuador. The species is tentatively placed near Scrobipalpula densata (Meyrick, 1917) and S. caustonae Landry, 2010 based on both having a slender, elongate phallus and a bipartite corpus bursae without a signum. Eurysacca media Povolný, 1986 is recorded for the first time from Ecuador. Sexual dimorphism in structures of abdominal segments VII–VIII are described for the first time for E. media. The female of this species has patches of melanized scales on abdominal segment VII. The diagnosis of the species is updated with descriptions and illustration of additional details of external morphology and characters of male and female genitalia. We also provide an annotated list of Gnorimoschemini from Ecuador.

The South Korean species of the genus Diplonevra are revised and eight species are recognized. Three of these species, D. biflagella, sp. nov., D. incisura, sp. nov., and D. nigritarsis, sp. nov., are new to science and four species, D. abbreviata (von Roser, 1840), D. florescens (Turton, 1801), D. hirsuta Michailovskaya, 2000, and D. peregrina (Wiedemann, 1830), are described for the first time in Korea. Distribution of D. bifasciata (Walker, 1860), the only previously recorded species in Korean checklists, is confirmed based on figures of a female specimen in previous publications. Diplonevra lamella Liu & Yang, 2016 is considered a junior synonym of D. hirsuta Michailovskaya, 2000. The Chinese and Russian Far East records of D. pachycera (nec Schmitz) are treated as misidentifications of D. incisura, sp. nov. and D. nigritarsis, sp. nov., respectively. Also, the Chinese record of D. taigaensis (nec Michailovskaya) should be identified as D. biflagella, sp. nov. Detailed descriptions and photographs of three new species and four redescribed species and keys to eight males and seven females of Diplonevra species in South Korea are provided.

Lobrathium chengzhifeii Lin & Peng sp. n. (Yunnan: Mengsong) is described and illustrated. The female sexual characters of L. anatinum W.-R. Li and L.-Z. Li, 2013 are described and illustrated for the first time. Additional records of L. ablectum Assing, 2012, L. biaculeatum Assing, 2012, L. demptum Assing, 2012, L. diaoluoense W.-R. Li and L.-Z. Li, 2013, L. excisissimum Assing, 2012, L. hongkongense Bernhauer, 1931 and L. tortile F.-K. Zheng, 1988 are reported. Including the new taxa, 66 Lobrathium species are currently known from China.

A new species of Ancylosis Zeller, 1839 from Afghanistan, Ancylosis palianytsia sp. nov., is described from material hidden amongst the paratypes of Staudingeria monella Roesler, 1973. Images of the adults of both sexes and of their genitalia are given. A key to the related species is given, based on a combination of characters.

Empis (Sphenempis Saigusa) subgen. nov. (Diptera, Empididae) and its included species, Empis (Sphenempis) bicoloriventris Saigusa sp. nov. from the Ryukyus, Japan and Empis (Sphenempis) oshimai Saigusa sp. nov. from Kyushu, Japan are described. Empis (Lissempis) amurensis Shamshev, 1998 from Amur, Russia is newly included in the subgenus Sphenempis.

Collections of Psychodidae in Portugal revealed a number of new species and a new genus for this country and the Iberian Peninsula. New species described are: Pneumia portuguesa sp. nov., Ulomyia iberica sp. nov., Clytocerus ibericus sp. nov., Pericoma estrelica sp. nov., and Psychoda iucunda sp. nov.. Heteroberdeniella gen. nov. is proposed with Berdeniella jaramensis (Wagner) as type species and Heteroberdeniella guardarramica sp. nov. is also included. Most species and genera are members of the West Palearctic fauna, but the genus Mystropsychoda Duckhouse is mentioned for the first time out of the Afrotropical realm. Distribution patterns of several genera and species cover at least the Mediterranean area and in addition indicate biogeographic relationships to the Afrotropical realm and particularly the East African mountain chains.

Glyptothorax yuensis, new species, is described from the Yu River, Sagaing division, Myanmar. It is characteristic in having a shallow adipose fin acutely incised at the posterior extremity of its base with an elongated pointed tip, adipose-fin base length 7.6–10.0 % SL; short nasal barbel, not extending to anterior margin of orbit; thoracic adhesive apparatus present with a conical-shaped median depression opening caudally, its length 11.7–13.0% SL and width 8.2–10.1% SL, anteromedial striae present; deep caudal peduncle, its depth 9.4–11.0 % SL; and two thin yellowish stripes on the body. A key to the species of the genus of Chindwin drainage is provided.

The plant but genus Orthotylus Fieber, 1858 in Korea is reviewed. One species, O. riparius Kulik is newly recorded from the Korean peninsula. Diagnostic characters of each species are discussed, with the images of adult specimen and genitalic structures. Additionally, a key to the Korean Orthotylus species is presented. Chinese record of O. riparius is excluded based on critical literature reviews. Observed variant of O. riparius Kulik and O. salicis Jakovlev are discussed.

Two new species of Pilargidae, Ancistrosyllis eidimtaiteae sp. nov. and A. suksani sp. nov., are described from the Gulf of Thailand. These Ancistrosyllis are characterized by having a median and two lateral antennae. Ancistrosyllis eidimtaiteae sp. nov. differs from all other species in the group by having brown pigmentation and by having both short antennae and tentacular cirri, first notopodial hooks from chaetiger 3, and a single type of neurochaetae (long non-limbate capillaries with bifid tips). Ancistrosyllis suksani sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species of Ancistrosyllis by the presence of the first notopodial hooks from chaetiger 4 and three types of neurochaetae (short, stout, falcates with a subdistal small guard, short limbates, and long bifid non-limbates). An updated key to the Ancistrosyllis species of this group is also provided.

Following a series of biodiversity surveys conducted in Thailand, Acentrella fimbriata sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on the nymph, male subimago and egg stages. Our new species can be distinguished from other Acentrella species by the following combination of characteristics in the nymphal stage: a head capsule relatively densely covered with long, fine, simple setae, increasing in number on the genae and clypeus; the scape and pedicel densely covered with long, fine, simple setae along the inner margins; femoral margins with dense, irregular rows of long, simple setae; terga lateral margins with numerous fine, simple setae, increasing in number posteriorly; terga posterior margins with poorly-developed denticles, and with scattered ovoid and truncated translucent scales, increasing in number laterally; and gills on segments II–VII with abundant long, fine, simple setae apically. This species prefers cobble substrates in shallow and slow-moving water, where it is found covered with sediment. Extensive new reports of Acentrella (Liebebiella) vera (Müller-Liebenau, 1982) are given that show it to be a species widespread in Thailand and that provide basis for comparisons to our new species. Global systematics of Acentrella Bengtsson, 1912 are discussed.

The largely Malagasy bark beetle genus Pseudomicracis Eggers, 1920 is revised based on molecular data and morphological studies. Because the type species P. elsae Eggers, 1920 from Tanzania has no intact type material, the diagnosis is fixed using an auxiliary species, P. madagascariensis (Schedl, 1961), which is typical for the genus and supports the original description of P. elsae. Six new species are described from Madagascar: P. atra Jordal, sp. nov., P. coronata Jordal, sp. nov., P. lauricola Jordal, sp. nov., P. pilosa Jordal, sp. nov., P. verrucosa Jordal, sp. nov., and P. vitrioculata Jordal, sp. nov. Mimiocurus camerunus (Hagedorn, 1909) has no existing type material and is transferred from Pseudomicracis based on Hagedorn’s illustrations of the antenna and protibia. New distributional and host records are given for P. dispar (Schedl, 1961), P. difficilis (Schedl, 1965) and P. madagascariensis (Schedl, 1961). A molecular phylogenetic analysis included 8 of 12 known species, documenting a strongly supported clade of Pseudomicracis species, but with highly uncertain internal relationships. A key and photographs to all Malagasy species are provided.

We provide a Neotropical synopsis of the genus Sclerodermus Latreille. The genus is recognized by having the antenna with 11 flagellomeres, the head globoid or nearly so, the eyes present and flat, and the clypeal median lobe strongly angled and deeply separated from the lateral lobes. The strong polymorphism of having wings is an intra- and intergeneric feature and the macropterous specimens are diagnosed by having forewings with the pterostigma slender and only the R cell closed. In this synopsis we recognized seven previously known species: S. formicarius Kieffer, S. galapagensis Brues, S. iridomyrmicicola Bruch, S. macrogaster (Ashmead), S. soror Westwood, S. spilonotum Evans, and S. wilsoni Evans. The type-species, S. domesticus Latreille is also included, but their occurrence in the Neotropical Region is in doubt. Additionally, we discovered one more species, S. chicomendesi n. sp., which is described and illustrated, based on both sexes with molecular support. This species was found attacking a woman in her office in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where there was wood furniture with holes bored by beetles of the Ptinidae genus Tricorynus Waterhouse. We also provide a key to the Neotropical species of this genus and a discussion about species attacking human beings.
