Improving energy efficiency is an effective way to address the issues of economic development, energy saving and emissions reduction. For any important industries it is therefore necessary to measure energy efficiency and set a practical target for it. In this paper, we use CCR, SBM and energy intensity to measure the energy efficiency of the paper industries of 22 EU countries. Results indicate that the SBM and CCR efficiency value is more meaningful for policy makers than that of energy intensity, as measurement results of energy intensity deviate from reality and economic efficiency. The CCR and SBM have roughly the same fluctuation trends and the average SBM energy efficiency value is 0.71, always 10 percent lower than CCR model, as it takes simultaneous account of both the optimal input-output and has more discriminatory power in efficiency measurement. Furthermore, EU policy makers could improve energy efficiency by raising energy prices. As for the 2030 EU target of energy saving and emission reduction, the EU should pay more attention to five major paper producers: Finland, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy. Introduction and aim. The aim of this research poster is to explore the interconnections between climate change, energy consumption, and their impacts on public health. It seeks to raise awareness of the challenges and consequences these factors have on global health and discuss potential mitigation strategies. Material and methods. The poster is based on two primary research papers, one focusing on the relationship between climate change, conflict, and health, and the other examining the connection between economic growth and energy consumption in the context of sustainable development. I have extracted key information from these articles, analyzed the relevant data, and combined the findings to create a comprehensive overview. Analysis of literature. The literature analysis involves comparing and contrasting the findings from the selected studies, highlighting the causal pathways linking climate change with conflict and health risks, and examining the economic growth-energy consumption relationship from the perspective of sustainable development. Conclusion. The research poster concludes that climate change and energy consumption have significant and far-reaching impacts on public health. Greater understanding of these connections is crucial for mitigating climate change, promoting sustainable development, and addressing the health risks associated with resource scarcity and conflict. The paper calculates carbon emissions, and analyses relationship among economic growth, industrial structure, energy structure and carbon emissions using environmental quality equation based on the terminal energy consumption data in 1990-2017 based on Shanxi province in China. The results show that economic development is the main positive driving factor of carbon emissions, industrial structure has an inverted u-shaped curve related with the carbon emissions and there is not a high linear correlation between energy structure and carbon emissions. Finally, some suggestions are proposed to reduce carbon emissions. The energy-intensive provinces should adjust industrial structure and pay more attention to the improvement of technologies, at the same time, should keep the population rate not increasing rapidly and energy structure not degenerating. As the EU strives to achieve its climate goals, it is becoming increasingly crucial to understand the complex relationships between economic activity, energy consumption, and carbon emissions. In this context, our paper aims to investigate the correlation between carbon emissions, energy consumption, and economic development. To fulfill our aim, we have used Eurostat and OECD data for the EU-27 member states for a period of 13 years (2010–2022), using a linear regression as the main analysis method. Our results have shown that there is a strong correlation between demand-based and production-based CO2 emissions as well as between production-based CO2 emissions and final energy consumption, while at the same time, our findings have shown that there is no direct correlation between energy consumption and economic development, aligning our study with the neutrality hypothesis of the energy growth nexus. This paper expands the ongoing discussion on sustainable development and climate change mitigation by conducting a thorough analysis of the EU-27 countries over a span of thirteen years. The results emphasize the need for integrated strategies that address both production and consumption emissions, emphasize the vital role of energy efficiency, and raise questions about the effectiveness of increasing energy consumption to enhance economic productivity or CO2 efficiency. This paper uses a bottom-up national energy technology model to study the optimization of China's energy transformation pathway. The model clarifies specific action plans for China's energy transformation pathway from 2020 to 2060, total carbon emissions, industry emission reduction responsibilities, and other dimensions. The results show that: (1) The proportion of renewable energy consumption in China's entire energy system from 2020 to 2060 will gradually exceed that of fossil energy under ideal circumstances, and the energy system will transition from traditional fossil energy to renewable energy. Meanwhile, the proportion of low-carbon energy sources, such as renewable energy, in primary energy demand will jump from 15.9% in 2020 to over 80% by 2060. (2) China's CO2 emissions will be approximately 3 billion tons, 2 billion tons, and 1 billion tons under three different socio-economic development scenarios of low, medium, and high speed in 2060. At that time, China will still need to absorb CO2 through carbon sinks in forests, oceans, and wetlands. (3) The electricity industry has the highest CO2 emissions compared to other industries. In the context of sustainability, the integration of renewable energy into industrial processes not only minimizes dependence on fossil fuels but also contributes to the efficient management of industrial waste. By transforming organic waste, including agri-food and urban waste, into biogas, green energy can be generated, thus reducing the impact on the environment and closing the loop of material used in the economic circuit. Thus, a sustainable system can be promoted, where resources are continuously reused and exploited. Statistical methods and a decision tree with the Classification and Regression Trees (CRT) algorithm were employed to analyze data. The paper focuses on the importance of industrial waste and biogas for the generation, transformation, and consumption of energy in the EU (European Union)-27 countries. To provide a thorough analysis, we have divided these countries based on real gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, grouping them above/below the annual average for the period 2012–2021/2022. Descriptive statistics revealed observable differences between the two groups, but the paper aimed to provide evidence regarding the existence of these differences as statistically significant. Using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, the non-normal distribution of the data was confirmed, requiring non-parametric inferential methods. The Mann–Whitney U test revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups for all the studied variables. Improving energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways to address environmental constraints and achieve high-quality economic development. The existing literature suggests that technological progress has an important impact on energy efficiency, but ignores the role of different paths of technological progress. Herein, the impact of different technological progress paths on energy efficiency was analyzed using the dynamic panel data model and the threshold model based on the energy efficiency measurement using the Meta-frontier and Nonradial Directional Distance Function model. The findings of this study were as follows: (1) During the study sample period, a fluctuating upward trend was observed in China's energy efficiency, and there were significant differences in energy efficiency in different regions of China. (2) The energy efficiency in China could be significantly improved by domestic innovation and regional technology diffusion. Even though the imported technologies do not play a significant role in promoting energy efficiency and have no positive effect on the improvement of energy efficiency from the perspective of domestic technology absorption or foreign technology absorption. (3) The eastern and central regions of China improve their energy efficiency through domestic innovation. However, none of the technological progress paths in the western and low-energy-efficiency regions have played a positive role in promoting energy efficiency. (4) The effect of promoting domestic innovation and regional technology diffusion on energy efficiency is gradually increasing with human capital improvement, and the restriction of foreign technology import on energy efficiency has obviously decreased. In a nutshell, different paths of technological progress have differential effects on energy efficiency improvements. Based on the above results, this paper makes some targeted policy recommendations on the choice of technological progress paths to improve energy efficiency in different regions of China. This paper investigates fair (i.e., envy-free and efficient) allocations in an overlapping generations economy without production and with two-period lived agents. We show that there is a conflict between no-envy and efficiency when all generations have identical preferences. This conflict crucially depends on the size of the given young age consumption of the initial old generation relative to the young age consumption at the golden-rule. We then show that there exist non-stationary preferences for which such a conflict does not arise, regardless of the young age consumption of the initial old generation. Green finance is key in supporting industries' green transformation and helping achieve low-carbon economic (LCE) development. This paper constructs an LCE development index using panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020. Based on the establishment of the first five pilot green finance zones in China in 2017 as a quasi-natural experiment, the synthetic control method (SCM) is applied to explore the impact of green finance policies on the level of LCE development and to analyze the mechanism and evaluate the policy effects. The empirical results show that (1) the synthetic analysis unit better fits the development trend before the implementation of the pilot. (2) After the implementation of the pilot reform, the level of LCE development in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Guizhou provinces has a more significant enhancement effect, but the enhancement in Xinjiang is not significant, which indicates that the reform effect in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Guizhou is significantly better than that in Xinjiang to a certain extent. (3) The samples were statistically significant and passed the placebo and ranking tests. Additionally, this paper analyzes the mechanism of policy effectiveness in terms of sci-tech innovation (STI) and energy consumption structure: green finance as a grip for economic transformation can provide financial support for regional STI and energy consumption structure upgrade and promote the capital flow to green low-energy industries, ultimately achieving sustainable economic development. Scholars have given enormous attention to the roles of energy use and trade in economic growth strategies; however, recent international trade literature suggests that not merely the volume of trade but the diversification of goods may have a potential effect on economic growth. Thus, this paper uses the diversification of export goods and diversification of import goods as explanatory variables along with energy consumption and assessed the role of these important variables in economic development. The empirical results from Westerlund's (J Appl Econom 23:193–233, 2008) and Westerlund's (Oxf Bull Econ Stat 69:709–748, 2007) tests disclosed the existence of cointegration. The long-run estimations obtained from the CUP-FM technique revealed that both import and export product diversifications positively influence economic growth. This presents a vital opportunity for emerging nations to expand growth by diversifying export and import products. Likewise, energy use, labor, and capital contribute to increasing economic growth. The estimates from the causality test illustrated bidirectional causality between export diversification and economic growth and unidirectional causality from energy to export diversification. Application of big data analytics (BDA) is seen in various disciplines within an organization to predict trends, explore opportunities and monitor performance. Among all the industries, BDA presents immense value in sustainable manufacturing (SM) given that it is an industry that consumes a high amount of energy, emits high amounts of waste and carbon emissions and requires a large amount of manpower. This paper aims at illustrating the effects of BDA in supporting SM by studying the Indian manufacturing firms which have unfavorable labor laws compared to other developing countries. With an extensive literature review, this paper discusses the relationship between BDA and sustainability, the capabilities of BDA, the concept of SM, the BDA framework for SM, the relationship between Industry 4.0 and SM and the challenges of implementing BDA. Using qualitative meta-analysis research methodology, the paper examines the nine common critical success factors that enable SM through BDA implementation by comparing 15 primary studies. Finally, the paper concludes the research findings and outlines future research directions. Energy efficiency and behavioural changes are among the key pillars of decarbonization of the global energy system. Residential sector is responsible for a large share of fossil fuels final consumption, therefore the growth of its energy efficiency can bring a valuable impact on decarbonization speed and scale. In countries with growing economies residential energy consumption can increase dramatically due to the desire of the population to improve their standard of living, therefore striking a balance between economic growth and energy efficiency improvement is a complex policy challenge. The purpose of this study is to analyze attitudes and assess barriers of energy efficient behavior in Republic of Armenia as a country with growing economy and standards of living. The paper contributes to the literature by providing new empirical evidence of consumers' attitude toward different forms of energy efficient behavior in Armenia and reveals how general pro-environmental consciousness and social conditions influence on it. The results of the study prove that the level of general environmental consciousness of the population has a direct impact on the frequency of practical application of various patterns of energy-efficient behavior. As a policy application for emerging economies, our study proposes that the main direction of energy efficiency policy can be education of the population and raising its level of environmental self-awareness. Energy is pivotal for sustainable economic growth. Undoubtedly, the role of the composition of the export basket (measured as economic complexity) is one of the crucial variables influencing energy consumption. Despite its importance, the existing body of literature does not intensively study the relationship between economic complexity and total energy consumption. Therefore, this study's primary aim was to examine the effect of economic complexity on energy consumption in a case study of 21 developed and 44 developing countries for the period 1971–2014. In this context, economic complexity expresses the level of sophistication of a country's export basket. This paper considers energy prices and income as explanatory variables in Durbin‐H panel cointegration analysis and applies a cointegration test with structural breaks to check for the long‐run relationships. For the long‐run estimations, we employ the augmented mean group method and dynamic seemingly unrelated regression. The findings reveal that economic complexity increases energy consumption in developing countries while it decreases energy consumption in developed countries. This is an important insight for countries concerned about their energy dependence. The diversification of their production and export baskets can reduce energy needs. Currently, coal is still the main energy source for China's economic development, and the environmental issues caused by coal consumption have aroused widespread concern. Predicting and analyzing coal consumption will help to formulate a higher level of energy consumption planning and economic development strategy. The main purpose of this study is to develop a new fractal time-series prediction (FTSP) model to predict coal consumption, providing reference for formulating effective energy consumption planning and economic development strategies. Hurst index is an important indicator of whether time-series data have long memory and fractal characteristics. This paper uses the rescaled range (R/S) method to calculate Hurst index of the coal consumption per-10000-Yuan-GDP (CC/GDP). The Hurst index is 0.8025, exceeding 0.5, indicating that the time-series data CC/GDP has a long memory and fractal characteristic. Based on this, this paper uses the FTSP model to predict China's coal consumption (CC/GDP). The prediction results show that the FTSP model accurately predicted China's coal consumption with a relative error rate (RER) of less than 5% and a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 6.62%. The model predicts a decrease in China's coal consumption from 0.25 tons of standard coal in 2021 to 0.11 tons of standard coal in 2030, a decrease of 44%. To sum up, the FTSP model provides a new and accurate way to predict coal consumption, and the results suggest that China's coal consumption is sustainable and will decrease significantly in the coming years. The massive use of energy has caused a rapid increase in global carbon dioxide emissions, resulting in a series of environmental problems such as climate warming. Investment in the energy industry can guide funds into green and clean production, reduce carbon emissions in the energy industry, and promote the green development of the energy industry. This paper considers the energy, the environment, the economy, and other factors and focuses on energy consumption and investment structure. Taking 30 provinces in China as research samples, a dynamic spatial Durbin model is established. The results show that the first-order term of carbon emissions has a driving force of 0.5068% for current carbon emissions at a significance level of 1% and that the increase in current carbon emissions will lead to a continued increase in carbon emissions in the next period. The increase in the carbon emissions of neighbouring provinces will increase their carbon emissions through the spatial spillover effect. Whether in the short term or long term, the increase in energy investment and the optimization of the energy investment structure can reduce carbon emissions. The purpose of this paper is to study the influencing factors of the ecological pressure of the energy carbon footprint (EPECF) of China's whole industry from 2000 to 2018. First, the EPECF of 48 sub industries is calculated, then divides 48 sub-industries into high-, medium-, and low-pressure industries, and uses the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method to analyze and summarize the main driving forces of China's industrial EPECF changes. Finally, policy suggestions for the future industrial decompression are put forward. The main results are as follows: (1) Economic development is the most important factor to promote the growth of EPECF of the three major industries. (2) At present, the population pressure factors of forest and grassland have little effect, and the effect of returning farmland to forest and grassland has not been truly played. (3) The adjustment of industrial structure has gradually become a key factor in reducing EPECF of the three industries. (4) The gradual stability of energy intensity has a certain inhibitory effect on the increase of EPECF in high-pressure industry. (5) The adjustment of energy structure in low-pressure industry has gradually worked. Therefore, the government should establish an economic sustainable development system, vigorously develop clean energy, and realize the green transformation of various industries. The objective of this study is to conduct an empirical examination of how renewable energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, growth in GDP per capita, and foreign direct investment are interrelated. The empirical investigation is based on panel data spanning 18 years, gathered from nine developed European nations: Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands Switzerland, Turkey, and Poland, during the period from 2002 through 2019, encompasses significant macroeconomic factors that act as benchmarks for assessing a socioeconomic advancement. Additionally, in light of the drawbacks posed by Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which are a significant hazard to all countries, there appears to be a growing potential for developing preventive measures. Regarding the methodology, various models are examined using panel regression econometric methods. This study utilizes Pooled Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Pooled Ordinary Least Squares Robust (OLSR), Fixed Effects Method (FEM), and Random Effects Method (REM). A correlation matrix is used to ascertain the interrelationships among the variables under study. Additionally, the findings from the Hausman Test suggest that the Random Effects Method emerges as the most fitting technique for this investigation. Moreover, the regression outcomes obtained through the random effect approach indicate that renewable energy consumption notably decreases CO2 emissions in developed European nations, highlighting its critical role as a strategy for sustainability. While GDP per capita has a negative impact on CO2 emissions and does not indicate a level of significance. Further, Foreign Direct Investment has a positive impact on CO2 emissions although, does not indicate a level of significance. This paper's major goal is to advance our knowledge of this relationship and arrive at fresh insights that could be very useful to policymakers. The current period of rapid industrialization has not only brought about rapid economic growth but also caused serious energy shortages and environmental pollution, which have affected the sustainable development of the economy. Therefore, it is of great significance to analyse the changes in regional economic, energy, and environmental carrying capacity (3ECC); analyse the interaction among them; and propose corresponding optimization strategies for promoting regional sustainable development. In this study, a 3ECC simulation system is constructed from the pressure and support levels of load-bearing capacity. A system dynamics model is used to simulate the evolution path and action relationship of the 3ECC system, and an empirical test is completed in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region in China. A coupling coordination model and Bayesian vector autoregressive model are used to further explore the degree and action mode of the 3ECC system support and pressure indices. The results show that the model can truly reflect the characteristics of regional development and is suitable for prediction in this study. From 2015 to 2035, driven by technological progress, China's economic aggregate will grow by 223%, oil consumption by 33%, coal consumption by 23%, soil pollution by 197%, water pollution by 134%, and air pollution by 80.9%. Moreover, the coordination degree of the 3ECC supporting indicators gradually increases, while that of the pressure indicators gradually decreases, indicating that economic growth has a synergistic effect on environmental protection and energy conservation, thus further expanding the differences between environmental pollution and energy consumption. Finally, the supporting index of the economic carrying capacity and supporting index of the environmental carrying capacity have the widest influence range, and the optimization of economic and environmental development status is beneficial to the overall improvement of the 3ECC system. The influence range of the energy carrying capacity support index is small, indicating that coal and oil are being gradually replaced by other energy sources. Since its industrialization, China has been continuously promoting environmental governance, and it is worth studying whether this measure has been effective. In this paper, we use industrial pollution control to represent China's environmental governance. Further, we use growth drag caused by energy consumption to describe a win-win situation for energy conservation and economic development. This paper theoretically analyzes the impact of environmental governance on growth drag by incorporating the former into the growth drag model. Thereafter, using data from 283 cities for the period between 2003 and 2017, this paper applies the dynamic panel data model to investigate whether China's industrial pollution control can achieve a win-win situation and its transmission mechanism. The results show that industrial pollution control can alleviate growth drag, implying that China's environmental governance can achieve a win-win situation. However, the effect is more significant in Eastern China and areas with high industrial pollution control intensity. The transmission mechanism analysis shows that industrial pollution control achieves a win-win situation by improving technological innovation, promoting human capital accumulation, and optimizing manufacturing development, of which improving technological innovation is the most significant. Purpose: The main purpose of the paper is to analyse the factors influencing carbon emissions in global countries. Research Design, Data and Methodology: Factor analysis has been applied to reduce factors and to find the most influencing factor in carbon emissions and the chi-square test has been used to test the hypotheses. Result: Among the nine selected factors, three factors, namely the nature of industry & density, demographic change, and economic development, were found to have high carbon emissions. It is found that there is a significant association between industrialisation and carbon emissions among selected Asian countries. However, no significant association has been found between demographical change, economic development and carbon emissions among selected Asian countries. There, industrialisation is considered one of the most important factors responsible for carbon emissions. Conclusion: Growing consumption of energy and industrialisation both support economic growth while harming the environment. It has been determined that one of the key factors affecting carbon emissions and climate change is industrialisation. The two critical variables need to be balanced. Green finance development is a comprehensive system with three aspects interacted: economic, environmental, and financial activities. Based on its internal mechanism, this paper constructs an evaluation system of green finance development, which fills the absence of existing studies on green finance development. The internal development of green finance is transformed into three subsystems by PSR (Pressure-State-Response) model, and the evaluation scores are calculated by the entropy weight method. As the applications of the evaluation system, the horizontal comparison and vertical trend of green finance development in different regions of China from 2004 to 2017 are analyzed, and the relationship between green finance and sustainable energy development can also be quantitatively analyzed. The results show that sustainable energy development can be promoted through the development of green finance, using various measures in dimensions of economic development, financial development, and environmental development. It is agreeable that the rapid progress of civilization throughout the years came at a great price for severe environmental damages. Currently, human civilization is facing the consequences of the environmental damages that have been made for centuries. As a result, taking measures that will take civilization forward yet not make any environmental damages has become a devoir. Taking these measures requires a profound knowledge of the effect of financial development and trade openness on carbon emissions. This paper inspects the association between economic development, financial development, trade openness, and energy usage on carbon emissions for an emerging nation, like Bangladesh. The paper is based on a total of 36 years of data (1980–2016). To ascertain the existence of both long-run and short-run relationships, the autoregressive distributed lag bounds testing method is applied. The outcomes expose that energy usage has a substantial influence on carbon emissions both in the short run and a long run. The influence of economic development is momentous in the long run; however, in the short run, it has no effect. The factors for trade openness and financial development are negative and immaterial equally in the short run and long run. The present study proposes that Bangladesh's government should carry out the strategy to advance substitute energy bases that ought not to release a large amount of carbon emissions. Also, the renewable energy sources or green resources are the most suitable options for improving the economic growth and sustainability of environment. Recently, many industrial organizations over the world were able to provide support to the deployment of green energy projects because it is less harmful to the environment and increases the financial development of country. Therefore, this paper objects to analyze the major effects of green financial strategies for developing the green energy projects. Moreover, it discussed about the recent trends of adopting green projects for ensuring the sustainability of environment with increased energy utilization. In addition to that, it examines various challenges and risks that are associated to the deployment of green financing strategy. The long-term financing, associated risks in project development, minimized return values, and lack of capacity are the major risks of green financing management systems. According to the recent reports, it is stated that the government sectors have an increased responsibility for funding the green projects to support the environment nature. Nevertheless, some of the public and private sectors in different countries are motivating the green energy projects by providing the financial support to the short-term and medium-term organizations for ensuring the sustainability of environment. The use of clean energy can promote the coordinated development of the economy and the ecological environment. However, few studies have paid attention to the changes in the health status of residents in the process of economic development and energy use. To fill this gap, this paper uses health energy intensity, which refers to the amount of energy consumed per unit of health status (composed of population mortality, maternal mortality, and perinatal mortality), to explore the impact of clean energy (expressed by the share of clean energy consumption in total energy consumption) on economic development and healthy energy intensity. By using the panel data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2005 to 2019, this paper constructs a simultaneous equation model for empirical analysis from the perspective of the whole country and areas with different income levels. The results show that from the national perspective, in the early stage of clean energy development, the level of economic development and healthy energy intensity increased; however, with the further development of clean energy, the sample period shows that the level of economic development and the healthy energy intensity decreased. Heterogeneity analysis shows that in both high-income and moderate-income areas, clean energy has a U-shaped effect on economic development; but in low-income areas, clean energy has an inverted U-shaped effect on economic development. In high-income and low-income areas, clean energy has an inverted U-shaped effect on healthy energy intensity; but in moderate-income areas, clean energy has a U-shaped effect on healthy energy intensity. China's clean energy market is still in its early stage, and the research conclusions of this paper provide a theoretical basis for the realization of China's clean energy development. This paper analyzed the spatial-temporal pattern of the degree of coordination between economic and environmental development in Central China region from 2008 to 2018 by means of the entropy method, exploratory spatial data analysis, and the Tapio decoupling index model and then explored the influencing factors with the Tobit model. The research found: (1) the urbanization level of the cities in Central China has been improved significantly, whereas their eco-environmental levels are fluctuating with the growth rate lower than that of urbanization. The coordination level between the two systems is on the rise, changing from primary dysfunction to intermediate coordination. (2) The coordination level is characterized by obvious spatial association dominated by Types H-H and L-L, as well as ever-increasing agglomeration. The decoupling between the two systems indicates that there is a negative effect between the two, and there is a problem regarding negative urbanization development. As the six central provinces account for 23% of total national carbon emissions (CE), research into the decoupling status of their economic growth (EG) and carbon emissions is critical to achieving the Dual Carbon Goals and the Rise of Central China Plan. This research initially examines the decoupling status between CE and EG using the Tapio decoupling model, based on energy consumption (EC) dataset from six central provinces in China between 2000 and 2019. The decoupling index (DI) is then divided into five decoupling drivers using the LMDI method. Finally, an enhanced STIRPAT model is used to examine the decoupling status of CE and EG in the six central provinces from 2020 to 2040. The research findings are: (1) The six central provinces exhibited a stable decoupling status between 2000 and 2019. The DI of the six central provinces ranged from -1.2 to 3.4. (2) The decoupling performance is influenced mainly by the inhibitory effect of economic development (GI) and the promoting effect of energy intensity (EI). The GI consistently maintains an impact value of around 0.9. EI performance varies widely across provinces. (3) From 2020 to 2040, Anhui, Hubei, Henan, and Hunan show significantly strong decoupling indices distributed between -2.21 and -0.07 in all three scenarios. It is important to note that Shanxi and Jiangxi provinces will experience a Reverse Decoupling phenomenon. The purpose of this paper is to reveal the mechanism and process of the dynamic evolution of the economy-energy-environment (EEE) system and study the variables that determine the speed of system evolution and development. The innovation is to overcome the defect of single index by constructing a system evaluation index and reveal the regional EEE system's evolution mechanism based on Haken's synergetic theory to supplement a systematic perspective's empirical evidence. It selects 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China to empirically analyse the evolution mechanism of the EEE system from 2005 to 2019. The empirical results show that economic development is the order parameter of the evolution and development of the EEE system. In the process of system evolution, the economic development subsystem is the decisive factor in EEE system evolution. In terms of the positive feedback mechanism of order parameter combination, the EEE system forms a positive feedback mechanism for increasing economic development in the stage of evolution and development. The negative feedback mechanism of decreasing environmental pollution emissions is formed in the EEE system. The increase in pollutant emissions has a certain inhibitory effect on economic growth. The improvement in the economic development level has no promoting effect on pollutants, and economic development, in turn, reduces environmental pollution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Turkey's rapid population and economic growth have caused a significant increase in energy demand over the last two decades. As a result, a process of evaluating alternative energy strategies and policies was required to be formulated carefully along with the country's longer-term decarbonisation aims. Although Turkey's considerable renewable energy potential exists, its dependency on foreign energy and its dramatically depreciating currency have been the main drivers of revisions to these renewable energy-related policies. This paper aims to demonstrate and evaluate all the strategies and challenges of Turkey's green steps toward a sustainable future. Sustainable developments of many developed countries have been examined and compared to assess Turkish strategies and significant policies that have been taken. As findings, it has been revealed that policy revisions regarding the use of domestic technology in green power plants decelerate investments for a short time. However, it has been found that renewable energy patent applications have declined, although domestic technology in green energy plants has been promoted through these policy revisions. As a result of this dilemma, the quality and effectiveness of green research and development (R&D) in Turkey have been investigated and then benchmarked with most leading countries. It has been observed that there is no correlation and relation between the patent application and the articles on renewable energy. Therefore, the paper has provided insight into new policies and strategies to enhance the productivity of R&D for both Turkey and developing similar countries. This paper focuses on the heterogeneity of renewable energy consumption and economic growth and emissions by using panel quantile regression models and based on the data from 33 countries during the period of 1990–2016. The approach in this paper is to consider the heterogeneity of the distribution, and results reveal a long-term equilibrium relationship among renewable energy consumption, economic growth and emissions. The role of renewable energy consumption in economic growth and emissions is heterogeneous, and the relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic growth is W-shaped. The relationship between renewable energy consumption and emissions has an inverted N-shape, and the relationship between non-renewable energy consumption and emission is a √-shaped curve. This paper supports the growth hypothesis and EKC. In addition, the energy consumption structure should be changed, and the use of renewable energy should be encouraged. This policy not only meets energy and economic growth demands but also improves environmental quality. This paper aims to objectively identify the impact of green finance on the green economy of China, and then put forward some suggestions that good for the government to guide the development of green finance, and promote the full play of finance in promoting development of the green economy. Through constructing an index system and a super-efficiency slack-based model, this study measures the level of green financial development and regional ecological efficiency, respectively, for Chinese 30 provinces between 2010 and 2015. On this basis, taking per capita GDP, industrial structure, urbanization rate, and energy efficiency as controlling variables, we construct a varying intercept model and a varying coefficient model. Our primary findings are that the impact of China's green financial development on regional ecological efficiency is not obvious in general, and the corresponding average influence coefficient is − 0.1847, which is inconsistent with theoretical analysis. Also, other impacts from per capita GDP, industrial structure, urbanization rate, and energy efficiency on ecological efficiency are statistically significant; the coefficients are − 0.1701, 0.3901, 0.5410, and 0.3022, respectively. Moreover, there are significant regional differences in the impacts of green financial development on ecological efficiency. For some provinces, such as Tianjin, Jilin, and Heilongjiang, green financial development significantly promotes ecological efficiency. Energy is one of the most important factors of growth, needed to power physical capital. This implies complementarity between these two factors, but in most theoretical papers, substitutability is assumed. In this paper, the main question is if complementarity between energy and physical capital hampers balanced growth or not. In order to answer this question, we consider the simple economic growth model with two sectors - output production and energy production - where energy is complementary to physical capital. Two forms of capital - physical and human - are distributed in this model between two sectors to maximise output. We consider the equilibrium state of this model, analyse comparative statics and derive necessary conditions for balanced growth. We also analyse some of the effects of technological progress. The analysis brings us to the conclusion that, in general, it leads to an increase in output, but that changes in technology of production have an ambiguous influence on output. We also derive explicit paths of growth for all macroeconomic variables. We find that, in general, if the obtained conditions are fulfilled then complementarity is not an obstacle to economic growth, subject to our assumptions which are quite standard in this kind of research. With the continuous development of the global economic level, global energy consumption is also on the rise, and the global power industry is faced with a number of formidable challenges including load growth, low energy efficiency, high power quality, and environmental protection. Despite the fact that distributed energy cannot be directly connected to the power grid, the concept of the microgrid (MG) is proposed to make better use of distributed energy and reduce its effect on the power grid. The low cost and high controllability of DC MGs have piqued the interest of academicians both at home and abroad. If DC MGs are to be implemented in real-world engineering, a stability control strategy is required; therefore, research on voltage stability and coordinated control of DC MGs is extremely important and promising. This paper summarizes the current research on the voltage control strategy of the DC MG from the perspective of the voltage control strategy of the DC MG. Lastly, it is proposed that the future development of DC MGs will be more focused on intelligence and control precision and that the consistency algorithm combined with the benefits of centralized control and distributed control can effectively aid the future development of DC MGs, taking into account the grid's dependability and control precision. This paper provides academic underpinning in an attempt to explain the causes of global economic crises in the past five decades, usually seen as non-parametric systems, using some of the most fundamental principles of physics and mathematics, as opposed to invented economic laws. These principles may include equations of motion, mass-energy equivalence, and the principles of stationary action and mass conservation, all of which may become crucial in predicting optimal levels of some of what traditionally have been considered as economic variables, including global energy consumption (GEC). The paper argues that economic crises are rooted in excessive energy consumption and should be examined at a higher systems level. There is a vast body of knowledge establishing a correlation between energy consumption and economic growth rate, population growth rate, wealth levels as per capita income indicators (PCI) and broader human development. A critical analysis of the literature relating to the interconnectedness of theoretical physics and stochastic processes in economic development has been carried out to highlight the importance of non-linear dynamics present in these processes. With rapid economic growth, energy consumption and emission reduction have become one of the most urgent issues in the Yangtze River Delta region(YRD), China's first important economic circle. In this paper, we estimate the energy-related CO2 emissions in the YRD during 2005-2016 using the emission measurement method provided by the IPCC (2006). In addition, the effects of various driving factors, such as population size, economic scale, industrial structure, energy intensity and energy structure, on CO2 emissions in this region are quantitatively analyzed by applying the LMDI factor decomposition model. The results show that the primary influencing factors of CO2 emissions in the YRD are economic growth and energy intensity. Population size and economic growth promoted CO2 emissions during 2005-2016, and economic growth is the decisive driving factor. On the contrary, the industrial structure, energy intensity, and energy structure of the YRD have inhibitory effects, and energy intensity is the dominant factor among them to restrain the growth of CO2 emissions. Besides, we discuss these results in detail and find that industrial structure and energy structure have great potential for CO2 emission reduction in the YRD. Finally, we put forward corresponding sustainable policy suggestions for optimizing industrial structure and energy structure to promote low-carbon economic development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous studies have done more research on the relationship between carbon emission reduction, energy consumption, and economic growth in specific countries or regions, which rarely consider the issue of heterogeneity between countries or regions, and also lack the refinement of energy consumption categories. Using panel data from 2000 to 2017, this paper divided the top 28 global carbon emission countries into developed countries and developing countries, and explores co-integration and causality between renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, economic growth, and carbon emission. Results suggested that there is a two-way causal relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth in all economies. There is a two-way causal relationship between economic growth in developed countries and consumption of renewable and non-renewable energy, while there is no significant relationship between economic growth and energy consumption in developing countries. There is a two-way causal relationship between carbon emissions and renewable energy in all economies, but there are significant differences; there is a two-way causal relationship between carbon emissions in developed countries and non-renewable energy, and only one-way causality exists in developing countries. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is investigate the dynamic linkages among industrial energy use, industrial value added, financial development (FD) and trade openness, in case of India. The study covers the annual frequency data on both aggregate and disaggregate variables for the period 1971–2016. Design/methodology/approach: The autoregressive distributed lag bounds testing approach is applied to examine the long-run relation among variables under consideration. Also, Johansen and Juselius (1990) and vector error-correction mechanism results confirm the result of cointegration. Furthermore, non-linear relationship in the model is also tested. Findings: It has been found that there exists long-run relationship among variables. Long-run estimates show that increasing FD leads to more energy uses. Hence, FD should be directed in such a way that it incentivises firms to invest in energy-efficient technology. Furthermore, it is also found that study supports the evidence of conservative hypothesis, which supports that the energy conservation policy should be adopted in the industrial sector. Energy efficiency programme needs to be designed very carefully to achieve a higher level of energy efficiency. This leads to a sustainable growth and low carbon emission. Originality/value: This paper examines the recent trend in Indian industrial energy consumption and does a comprehensive analysis using a robust econometric method. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the properties of the variable elasticity of substitution (VES) production function, and examine the dynamics of growth associated with it.Design/methodology/approach The VES production function is incorporated into an otherwise standard Diamond overlapping generations model.Findings Depending on parameter combinations, the economy can achieve a unique and stable steady state akin to that observed in the Solow-Swan model, reach a poverty trap or transition towards an upper bound of per capita capital stock. A special case of the VES production function is also consistent with unbounded growth.Research limitations/implications The paper is theoretical in nature. Further empirical analysis could shed deeper insights into the results presented in this study.Practical implications The VES production function, when applied to the context of the Diamond model, can capture a variety of growth experiences observed in the empirical literature.Social implications In the context of the Diamond model, a higher value of a particular parameter in the production function leads to greater intergenerational income and consumption inequality. Hence, the study provides a potential explanation for intergenerational inequalities observed in practice.Originality/value The study demonstrates the empirical value of the VES production function in explaining observed differences in factor shares, rewards and elasticities within and between countries over time. This paper aims to test the relation among militarization, CO2 emissions, economic growth and energy consumption in G7 countries from 1985 to 2015 via panel methods. Long- and short-run coefficients and the causal relationship between the variables are important for G7 countries' energy policies and strategy. Cointegration among CO2 emissions, militarization, energy consumption and economic growth was determined by using panel Johansen and panel autoregressive distributed lag (PARDL) methods. Further, the panel trivariate causality test was applied and unidirectional causalities from militarization to CO2 emissions and from energy consumption to CO2 emissions were found. The evidence of bidirectional causality between per capita GDP and militarization, between per capita GDP and energy consumption, and between energy consumption and militarization was determined. The paper recommends that environmental and energy policies must recognize the differences in the relation between militarization, energy consumption and economic growth in order to maintain sustainable economic growth in the G7 countries. This paper aims to investigate the effect of financial development and renewable energy consumption on consumption‐based CO2 emissions in Chile while controlling for economic growth and electricity consumption. Based on the aim of the paper, autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds with Kripfganz and Schneider's (2018) approximations, fully modified ordinary least square (FMOLS), dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS), and gradual shift causality tests are applied in this study. The outcomes clearly reveal that while financial development and renewable energy consumption reduce the consumption‐based CO2 emissions in Chile, economic growth and electricity consumption increase consumption‐based carbon emissions. The gradual shift causality test provides consistent results with ARDL, FMOLS, and DOLS estimators. Therefore, policymakers in Chile should dynamically encourage the research and development of low‐carbon technologies and renewable energy investments while imported nonrenewable energy sources level should be targeted, and especially those sectors which are more energy‐intensive and causing to increase in consumption‐based CO2 emissions. While the independent effect is widely examined, the joint effect of financial development and renewable energy on energy consumption has largely been ignored in the current literature. Eleven members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) must balance the simultaneous requirements of supporting financial development, increasing renewable energy usage, and minimizing the adverse effects of energy consumption on the environment. Unlike previous studies, the paper examines the joint and independent effects of financial development and renewable energy on energy consumption for the CPTPP countries during the 1971–2019 period using the second-generation estimator analysis. Our variables are carefully selected based on solid hypotheses and empirical studies. Our results confirm an inverted U-shaped relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. We claim that financial development affects energy consumption depending on the level of renewable energy consumption. The bidirectional causality effect between financial development, energy consumption, and economic growth is also confirmed. Robustness checks have been conducted using sub-samples based on the per capita income threshold of $39,054. Policy implications have emerged based on these findings. An increase in renewable energy consumption can help these nations achieve the dual objectives: (i) to support financial development and to enhance economic growth and (ii) to reduce an adverse effect of financial development and economic growth on the environment. To cope with the severe challenges related to traditional economic-centered urbanization, the Chinese government has proposed a people-oriented new-type urbanization strategy, which focuses on promoting the coordination and sustainable development of the environment, economy, and society. The existing literature has studied the impact of traditional urbanization on energy use but has not yet revealed the mechanisms and effects of the new transformation of urbanization on energy efficiency. Based on socio-economic-natural complex ecosystem theory, this paper systematically explains how new-type urbanization affects energy efficiency. By adopting a newly developed dynamic panel threshold model, the paper examines the complex impact of new-type urbanization on energy efficiency using panel data of 285 cities in China from 2003 to 2017. The results show that new-type urbanization has a significant double-threshold effect on energy efficiency. As the new-type urbanization level increases, the improvement effect of new-type urbanization on energy efficiency presents the change features of "strong-weakened-stronger." The heterogeneity analysis shows that under the constraints of multiple factors, such as new-type urbanization stages, geographic regions, economic development levels, and resource endowment, the impact of new-type urbanization on energy efficiency varies significantly.
