This paper provides the relationship between Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) and international tourism activities in the BRIC countries (i.e. Brazil, Russia, India and China). The researchers used continuous wavelets, wavelet coherence and wavelet phase-difference based on Granger causality analysis to investigate the relationship between EPU and tourism activities using the annual data. The findings show that there is a unidirectional causal influence of EPU on international tourism arrivals (ITA) in the short run and mid run for Brazil. In addition, there is a bi-directional causal influence of EPU on ITA in China and Russia in the long run. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work aims to examine the relationship between global economic policy uncertainty (GEPU) and tourism activities in the fragile five (F5) countries, namely, Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Turkey using three-dimensional wavelet transforms context structures and the annual data during the period of 1997–2018. This innovative technique allows the decomposition of time-series at different time frequencies. In this work, the researchers used three-dimensional continuous wavelets based on Granger causality analysis to investigate the relationship between GEPU and tourism. The finding shows that the relationship generally changes over time, displaying low to high frequency cycles. Moreover, the timing and frequency change when GEPU co-moves with tourism. This article aims at examining the relationship between economic policy uncertainty and tourism activities in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain using a three-dimensional wavelet analysis. Empirical results display that the relationships among the variables evolve through time and frequencies. The study finding reveals strong evidence of the relationships between these variables in terms of time domains. From the perspective of frequency domains, significant wavelet coherence and strong lead-lag relationships change over time are displayed in this study, indicating low to high frequency cycles over the whole sample period. This study examines the effects of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) and tourism in Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). It used a three-dimensional wavelet technique based on Granger causality analysis to investigate the relationship between EPU and tourism activities using the annual data between 1995 and 2018. The results show that the uncertainty about its economic policies will not only affect macroeconomic variables but also tourism. The EPU has short-run implications, as well as short-run, mid-run and long-run effects on international tourist arrivals. It can be recommended that the national security of the government and peace protocols be maintained by the government. This study applies recently developed bootstrap panel Granger causality, proposed by Kónya, to investigate a causal link between economic policy uncertainty and stock markets in nine countries over monthly periods from 2003M01 to 2014M12 (Kónya (2006) Exports and growth: Granger causality analysis on OECD countries with a panel data approach.Economic Modelling, 23, 978–992). The modeling allows us to examine both the cross-sectional dependency and the country-specific heterogeneity. The empirical results indicate that not all countries are alike, and that the theoretical prediction that stock markets fall at the announcement of a policy change is not always supported. Specifically, this work finds evidence of the stock market leading hypothesis for India, Italy, and Spain, while the economic policy uncertainty leading hypothesis cannot be rejected for the United Kingdom. In addition, the neutrality hypothesis was supported in the remaining countries (Canada, China, France, Germany and the United States), while the feedback hypothesis, however, is not found.
