In today's environment of global economic recession, nations are searching for economic development strategies. The capitalist notion of the ever-expanding economy is challenged by such factors as the world's 8 billion inhabitants, air pollution and global warming, water pollution, insufficient water to support and sustain populations, dependence on nonrenewable fossil fuels, and unmitigated risk in the use of nuclear power. We propose a sustainable economic model that preserves the positive dynamics of capitalism while improving collaboration between government and industry to optimize return on national, regional, and local resources. Our induced linguistic ordered weighted averaging approach aims to preserve the best qualities of free enterprise and market-driven regulation while addressing systemic weaknesses inherent to capitalism.
