Enhorabuena a la Universidad de La Salle de Bogotá por la publicación de este libro con temas lasallistas escrito por el doctor Luis Enrique Ruiz. Conocí a su autor precisamente en reuniones del Consejo Internacional de Estudios Lasallistas, del cual fue miembro por varios años, realizadas aquí en la Casa Generalicia. Se formó para dispensar este servicio ejerciendo su profesión de educador como vocación, en diversos centros educativos de Bogotá, y, especialmente, en nuestra Universidad de La Salle, durante 37 años de sus 49 de historia. Siendo profesor y decano de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, se dedicó a estudiar la persona y la doctrina de san Juan Bautista de La Salle con tanto amor y profundidad, que muy pronto se convirtió en una autoridad en el tema y en el ideólogo de la Universidad para la que redactó el Modelo Formativo Lasallista. Desde 1985 fue director del Centro de Investigaciones Lasallistas (CILA). Con un grupo de reflexión lasallista, desde una seria y responsable actitud científica y filosófica, resaltó en el pensamiento lasallista: la profundidad intelectual que encarna, la alta intuición de realismo como respuesta posible y necesaria a la realidad humana del momento presente, su arraigo trascendente y su apertura al diálogo con las ciencias y con el pensamiento académico actual.
