This article provides an analysis of the existing methods of smooth start-up of high-voltage and powerful asynchronous electric drives for auxiliary units in mining enterprises and thermal power plants. The shortcomings in the analysis of existing methods were studied, proposals and solutions were given. For smooth start of asynchronous motors of small and medium power, it uses the system "Thyristor voltage converter-asynchronous motor". This method cannot be directly used for soft starting of high-voltage and powerful induction motors. In the soft start of high-voltage and high-power induction motors, a starting method has been proposed using combined low-power thyristors, taking into account the fact that the prices of high-power thyristors are expensive and unreliable. The main disadvantage of this method is the need for an even distribution of current and voltage values. The article has developed technical solutions for the uniform distribution of current and voltage values. It was proposed to develop an improved system "Thyristor voltage converter-induction motor", formed from parallel-series-connected thyristor groups of low power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
