Abstract

Examines the dynamics of mode competition in vertical-cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) for bias conditions such that the low state is above the laser threshold current. Features of the VCSEL structure; Relationship of the overshoot and turn-on delay between the linearly polarized LP01 and LP11 modes to the bias current relative to the individual mode threshold currents.
