Abstract: The biosorption of well water using biosorbent from areca fiber waste of Jambi province has been performed to elevate well water quality. In environmental preservation, this research aimed to reduce a solid waste of areca fiber waste, which has only been burned so far. This activity would increase carbon emissions in the atmosphere. These materials were obtained using carbonizations (300 and 400 oC) and without carbonization. The proper material is used as a biosorbent was 400 oC sized 200 mesh. The material showed several functional groups on the biosorbent surface, such as hydroxyl, amide, amine, and carbonyl. Interestingly, using this material, the water quality can be increased by treatments of odor, color, pH, TDS, TSS, and E. coli under conditions 1.25 g biosorbent, 50 oC, and 150 rpm for 30 minutes. The adsorption results were compared with the value from the standard of Permenkes No.146/Menkes/Per/IX/1990. Based on the explanation, it is resumed that biosorbent derived from areca fiber waste is effective, inexpensive, and easy to operate for increasing well water quality. Abstrak: Adsorpsi air sumur menggunakan biosorbent dari limbah sabut pinang Provinsi Jambi telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air sumur. Pada pelestarian lingkungan, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi limbah padat sabut pinang, yang selama ini hanya dibakar. Kegiatan ini akan meningkatkan emisi karbo ke atmosfir. Material-material ini diperoleh menggunakan karbonisasi (300 dan 400 oC) dan tanpa karbonisasi. Material yang tepat digunakan sebagai biosorben adalah 400 oC berukuran 200 mesh. Material ini memperlihatkan beberapa gugus fungsi pada permukaan biosorben, seperti hidroksil, amida, amina, dan karbonil. Menariknya, penggunaan material ini, kualitas air dapat ditingkatkan menggunakan treament aroma, warna, pH, TDS, TSS, dan E.Coli pada kondisi 1,25 gram biosorben, 50 oC, 150 rpm, dan selama 30 menit. Hasil adsorpsi dibandingkan dengan nilai standar Permenkes No.146/Menkes/Per/IX/1996. Berdasarkan penjelasan, hal ini disimpulkan bahwa biosorben dari limbah sabut pinang efektif, dan mudah untuk menggunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air sumur.

This study aims to map the existence of the wooden houses of Omah Pencu and classifies their potencies as heritage buildings in the historic area of Kudus Kulon. Caring for indigenous cultural heritage will contribute to the strengthening of local identity. The traditional houses of Omah Pencu have been developing as the specific architecture since the end of the 17'th century, as a living place of the ‘Gusjigang' community, and artifacts evident of the city heyday. However, the pressure of modernization-capitalization in the city caused several changes in their built environment and decreased the number of Omah Pencu. This research concern with the GIS interpretation methods and the direct observations use the questionnaire, interview, and architectural documentation. The findings provide an important database for preservation in the digital era. The digital mapping, combined with the mapping of tangible and intangible buildings, produces digital information about the Omah Pencu building condition that has never been done before. Through this mapping, found that the participation effort of the community caused the sustainability of preservation. It is a very significant bottom-up participation. However, toward sustainable preservation, a strategy, planning, design, and management that integrated all stakeholders and resources by utilizing digital technology are needed.

Bentuk lingkungan permukiman sebagai suatu produk komunitas adalah hasil kesepakatan sosial dan bukan merupakan produk inividual. Dengan kata lain, komunitas yang berbeda tentunya akan menunjukkan karakter yang berbeda pula. Kampung Arab Sugihwaras sebagai permukiman yang dihuni oleh masyarakat keturunan Arab di Pekalongan terancam oleh berbagai perubahan baik pada aspek sosial budaya maupun bentukan fisik permukiman. Pada kondisi ideal bentukan fisik permukiman yang khas yang diperkuat oleh nilai – nilai sosial budaya masyarakat keturunan Arab di Sugihwaras dapat menjadi suatu identitas tersendiri bagi kawasan. Untuk itu penting untuk mengetahui pengaruh sosial budaya Islami terhadap tatanan permukiman untuk mencegah hilangnya identitas masyarakat dan mempertahankan keteraturan lingkungan permukiman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah pengaruh sosial budaya Islami terhadap tatanan permukiman Kampung Arab Sugihwaras. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metodologi kuantitatif deskriptif melalui paradigm postpositivistik. Berdasarkan hasil uji regresi terhadap variabel penelitian ditemukan adanya pengaruh sosial budaya Islami sebesar 14,2, % sedangkan secara parsial tidak semua variabel pada sosial budaya Islami berpengaruh terhadap tatanan permukiman. Akan tetapi hanya variabel lingkungan bertetangga saja yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh secara langsung. [The Islamic Socio-Cultural Influence toward Settlement Arragement in Kampung Arab Sugihwaras] Neighborhoods forms as a community product is the result of social consensus and not a product inividual. In other words, different communities will certainly show different characters. Sugihwaras Arab village as a settlement inhabited by the descendants of Arabs in Pekalongan threatened by various changes both in the socio-cultural aspects as well as the space order of settlements. On the ideal conditions, space order of typical settlement reinforced by values - social and cultural values of Arab descent in Sugihwaras can be a separate identity for the region. It is important to know the social influence of Islamic culture against settlement arrangement to prevent the loss of community identity and maintain regularity neighborhoods. The purpose of this study was to determine how the social influence of Islamic culture to the Arab village Sugihwaras settlement arrangement. This research was done by using descriptive quantitative methodology through post- positivistm paradigm. Based on the results of the regression test against variables the study found the social influence of Islamic culture by 14.2% while partially not all socio-cultural variables on Islamic influence on settlement arrangement. But only neighbourhood variables showed a direct influence to the settlement arragement in Kampung Arab Sugihwaras.

Old City in Semarang as cultural reservation by Semarang undergone several changes over the times. One of that is change the function of public open space, every space change in an area affects on the image of the Old City in Semarang as the historical area. In the end, the change of public open space function affects on the image of The area of Old City in Semarang as Historical Area which existence is reserved. The purpose of this research is to acknowledge effects caused by the change of public open space function according to era development on the image of The area of Old City in Semarang as historical area fulfilled with buildings which have colonial architecture style. However, there are two kinds of variables in this research which are based on discussed research substance, they are independent variable which includes public open space function (ecology function, architectural/esthetical function, social function) and dependent variable which includes area image ( area identity, area structure, meaning of area). Both variables are analyzed using rationalistic quantitative method which techniques are multiple analysis technique and descriptive analysis. After doing analysis process, the results are: Taman Srigunting and Polder Tawang are successful to conduct each function, but generally, respondents say that Taman Srigunting is much better in doing its function as public open space than Polder Tawang. As for BTPN buiding, public agrees that the building disturbs the image of The area of Old City in Semarang because the design of the building does not adjust the neighborhood and the buildings surrounding it, and also, the condition of the empty building which is not taken care of and used gives more negative effect on the image of The area of Old City in Semarang. Conclusion drawn from this research is the existence of Taman Srigunting and Polder Tawang which have three functions as public open space such as ecology, esthetical, and social function, and the existence of BTPN building affect on the image of The area of Old City in Semarang.
