In this article we present a study on difficulties in the process of learning the definition of the limit of a sequence. It is a qualitative study whose aim was to analyze the actions of a subject when dealing with a situation involving this definition. To this end, we discussed the concepts involved in the conceptual field of this definition, together with the analysis of a proposed situation. The data was produced through written and oral production, collected from the activity resolution sheets and audio and video produced during the session. The analyses show the difficulty in disengaging from graphic representations used to deal with particular situations, in the case of sequences that converge, even when the subject is confronted with a study of the conceptual elements involved in the formal definition. After the 1974 revolution, higher education in Portugal democratised, diversifying the student population. This study investigates the inclusion policies of Portuguese Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), analysing support measures in their statutes. The document analysis of 26 statutes reveals progress and challenges in implementing these measures, highlighting disparities in distribution, limited psychosocial focus, and a predominantly medical approach. The influence of institutional autonomy and the lack of specific legislation for inclusion in higher education were also identified, legitimizing variations in resource offerings and limiting access to support measures in HEIs. This article aims to carry out a systematic review of selected literature on empirical studies into the use of argumentation in the field of Mathematics Education in higher education. To do so, we searched for articles on the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) database, more specifically in Mathematics Education journals published between 2012 and 2021. This period is justified for encompassing a decade of research published until the year immediately before the beginning of this study. After selecting and reading the articles, the following categories of analysis were identified: argumentation as a tool to analyze students' arguments, argumentation as a tool to analyze professors' arguments and argumentation as a teaching approach. The analysis was based on literature studies, mostly from the theoretical perspective of Toulmin's and Perelman's argumentation theories. The results showed three ways of using argumentation in relation to the teaching approach, investigations into the teaching of proof, assessment of the relationship between argumentation and proof and investigation into students' and professors' argumentation quality. However, we highlight that more investigations need to be carried out to assess the potential of courses focused on argumentation for higher education mathematics subjects, especially research into Perelman's approach, about which studies have been reasonably scarce. Dans un contexte d’enseignement distant ou hybride, les enseignants des cycles supérieurs sont confrontés à de nombreux défis technopédagogiques. Le dispositif d’autoformation dynamique pour l’innovation (DADI) offre des ressources et un outil d’autoévaluation fondé sur le modèle théorique du savoir technopédagogique disciplinaire (STPD) de Bachy (2014). Cette recherche visait à construire et à valider cet outil d’autoévaluation. La méthodologie de validation a combiné des approches qualitatives et quantitatives, impliquant des experts en sciences de l’éducation et des enseignants des cycles supérieurs issus de disciplines volontairement variées. Cet article se concentre sur les résultats quantitatifs. L’évaluation statistique a été menée auprès de 173 enseignants québécois via un questionnaire en ligne. Les analyses factorielles semi-confirmatoires, à la suite des analyses exploratoires, confirment la validité de l’outil avec 60 items. Elles examinent également la pertinence de cloisonner certains domaines de connaissances dans la pratique effective des enseignants.

Universities are offering hybrid interprofessional health sciences collaboration education courses to address the challenges of schedule synchronization, silos, and communication. This article focuses on analyzing the psychometric quality of a questionnaire used in a setting where interprofessional teams collaborated online and face-to-face in a hybrid university health sciences course. This questionnaire was originally designed for people in the working world in order to assess the constructs of collaboration (communication, synchronization and explicit and implicit coordination) mobilized in the face-to-face setting. The results of the second order confirmatory factor analyses support its use in an academic context and support the metric qualities of the original questionnaire. Online and face-to-face collaboration could be measured using this questionnaire in a hybrid university pedagogical context. The study mobilizes knowledge about the evaluation of collaboration, an avenue that little research has taken to date.

Le questionnaire Climat relationnel des études à l’Université (CREU) (Genoud, 2008) a été adapté en français et en allemand et intitulé Climat relationnel des études à distance (CRED). Une analyse factorielle confirmatoire (n = 223) soutient la structure du CRED en quatre sous-échelles. D’autres éléments de validité sont fournis par des coefficients de cohérence interne et par la comparaison avec les résultats antérieurs obtenus par Genoud (2008). Toutefois, une faible invariance de mesure entre les échantillons (francophones et germanophones) et des indices d’ajustement parfois insuffisants, en particulier pour la version allemande, invitent à la nuance. La validité de critère est étayée par des liens significatifs positifs entre le sentiment d’auto-efficacité, la persévérance et la qualité perçue du climat relationnel (CRED). Des liens négatifs ont été trouvés entre le CRED et la propension à l’ennui (SBPS). Aucun lien n’apparait entre le climat relationnel et les performances (notes).

Des universités offrent des cours d’éducation à la collaboration interprofessionnelle en sciences de la santé et, pour faire face aux défis de synchronisation des horaires, de cloisonnement et de communication, plusieurs sont dispensés en mode hybride. Cet article s’intéresse à l’analyse de la qualité métrique d’un questionnaire utilisé en contexte où des équipes interprofessionnelles ont collaboré en ligne et en présentiel dans le cadre d’un cours universitaire hybride en sciences de la santé. Initialement, ce questionnaire a été conçu pour des personnes du monde du travail dans le but d’évaluer les composantes de la collaboration (communication, synchronisation et coordinations explicite et implicite) mobilisées en présentiel. Les résultats des analyses factorielles confirmatoires de second ordre appuient les qualités métriques du questionnaire original. La collaboration en ligne et en présentiel pourraient être mesurées à l’aide de ce questionnaire dans un cours universitaire hybride. L’étude mobilise des connaissances sur l’évaluation de la collaboration, une voie scientifique peu connue à ce jour.

Based on a mixed methodology, we analyse the profiles of Angolan, Brazilian and Cape Verdean students in mobility in Portuguese higher education. We question their motivations and the relationship between the mobility project and social mobility, which this migration trajectory could represent. The results highlight the importance of scholarships, the Portuguese language, and the prestige of universities. These aspects are marked by social class issues, but also influenced by the Portuguese colonial past and the late development of higher education in the countries of origin. Dans le contexte d’une évaluation continue pour apprendre, expérimentée dans un cours universitaire en Suisse romande, l’article étudie la perception des étudiants quand ils reçoivent une pluralité de feedbacks des pairs à propos d’un travail réalisé en petits groupes collaboratifs. Comment les étudiants, qui sont à la fois évalués et évaluateurs, perçoivent-ils ces feedbacks multiples, notamment quand ils sont amenés à les comparer dans la perspective de réguler leur propre travail universitaire et leurs compétences évaluatives ? L’article analyse finement les processus et les ressentis en jeu quand les étudiants constatent des similarités et des différences entre les feedbacks reçus et produits. Au regard des résultats obtenus, une réflexion conceptuelle est proposée autour des notions de feedback, de feedback interne, de feedback global et de métafeedback, qui contribuent aux processus de régulation et d’apprentissage générés.

In the context of continuous assessment for learning in a university course in French-speaking Switzerland, this article studies students’ perception when they receive multiple instances of peer feedback on a written academic assignment carried out in small collaborative groups. How do students, who are both assessees and assessors, perceive these multiple instances of feedback, especially when they are led to compare them to regulate their own initial work and their assessment skills? This article analyses in detail the processes and feelings at play when students notice similarities and differences between the instances of feedback they received and produced. Conceptual considerations are proposed around the notions of feedback, internal feedback, comprehensive feedback, and metafeedback, seen as contributing to the regulation and learning processes involved.

The term pedagogical innovation has been projected by the phenomenon of globalization and the commodification of knowledge enhanced by the new information and communication technologies in order to achieve the objective of accelerating the adjustment of education to the needs of the labor market. However, the meanings attributed to pedagogical innovation are polysemic and at times not consensual. Given this condition, this article advances a historical analysis about the emergence of the Knowledge Society in the second half of the 20th century, as it relates to pedagogical innovation in higher education, identifying the meanings that this innovation has taken in the last decades in the field of pedagogy. Les modalités de cours hybrides, qui combinent des activités synchrones (en classe ou virtuelles) et en ligne asynchrones, représentent un terrain potentiel d’augmentation du niveau d’engagement des étudiants dans leurs cours. L’étude de l’engagement des étudiants dans ces modalités nécessite toutefois l’élaboration d’une échelle de mesure, soit l’objectif de cet article. La nouvelle Échelle multidimensionnelle d’engagement des étudiants dans des modalités de cours hybrides (EMEECH) vient outiller chercheurs et formateurs pour mesurer l’engagement des étudiants dans ces modalités selon une perspective multidimensionnelle. Nous présentons son élaboration ainsi que des preuves de validité pour sa structure interne obtenues par analyses factorielles exploratoires et de cohérence interne sur la base de données diversifiées provenant de trois institutions universitaires. Un premier échantillon (n1 = 234) a permis d’identifier trois dimensions de l’engagement des étudiants : émotionnelle-cognitive, sociale et comportementale. Un second échantillon (n2 = 231) a appuyé la structure interne de la nouvelle échelle en confirmant sa structure factorielle et en présentant une très bonne cohérence interne.

Blended course modalities combine synchronous activities (face-to-face or in virtual classrooms) with asynchronous online activities, and they represent a fertile ground for enhancing student engagement. However, studying student engagement in these environments requires the development of a measurement scale, which is the purpose of this paper. This new measurement scale for student engagement in blended course modalities (EMEECH) provides researchers and instructors with tools for assessing student engagement in blended course modalities (blended, blended online, or blended synchronous) from a multidimensional perspective. This article presents the scale development, along with validity evidence for its internal structure obtained through exploratory factor and internal consistency analyses, based on diversified data from three universities. A first sample (n1=234) allowed for identifying three dimensions of student engagement: emotional-cognitive, social, and behavioral. A second sample (n2=231) provided further evidence of the internal structure of the new scale by confirming its factorial structure and its superior internal consistency.
