Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES The southwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul is one of the areas where erosion processes by gullies occur, linked to the geological / geomorphological aspects, and in their genetic context they present particularities determining to the installation of such processes. In this context, the present research sought to understand the geographic distribution of occurrences of gullies in a sample area in the municipality of Cacequi. The analysis was based on the results referring to the morphometric indicators that made it possible to classify them in relation to their forms, in addition to understanding their levels of evolution and development, using as a unit of analysis the sub-basins present in the central portion of this municipality, where 298 gullies events were identified and mapped. This procedure took into account the morphometric attributes (area, perimeter, width, depth, volume, circularity index, hypsometry, slope, slope shapes, profile and plane curvature, slope orientation, slope lengths and fault geological fractures). The methods used in the research were based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data on the morphometric properties, which were submitted to the statistical analysis, allowing to establish the correlation between the data and the similarity of the sub-basins, besides the application of the Method of Informative value to determine the physical attributes that contribute most to the development of the erosive process in question. The map of the gullies distribution indicated the patterns of the different forms of gullies, allowing their classification by analyzing the morphometric indicators, allowing identifying in the area six different forms of gullies (Linear, Bulbiform, Branched, Mixed Irregular, Rectangular and Irregular Rectangular). The lineaments mapped in the orientation of the gullies showed predominance in the east-west and northeast-southwest orientation, fact that evidences the influence of the structural control in these processes and the main directions of the gullies contribute in their forms. Finally, the obtained results allowed proposing a scenario of how the systematic development of the different forms of gullies occurs in this part of the Peripheral Depression in the State. A região sudoeste do estado do Rio Grande do Sul é uma das áreas onde ocorre os processos de erosão por voçorocamento, atrelados aos aspectos geológico/geomorfológico, e no seu contexto genético apresentam particularidades determinantes à instalação de tais processos. Neste contexto, a presente pesquisa buscou entender a distribuição geográfica das ocorrências de voçorocas em uma área amostral no município de Cacequi. A análise teve base nos resultados referente aos indicadores morfométricos que possibilitaram classificá-las em relação as suas formas, além de compreender os seus níveis de evolução e desenvolvimento, utilizando como unidade de análise as sub-bacias hidrográficas presentes na porção central do referido município, onde foram identificadas e mapeadas 298 eventos de voçorocas. Este procedimento levou em consideração os atributos morfométricos (área, perímetro, largura, profundidade, volume, índice de circularidade, hipsometria, declividade, formas de vertente, perfil e plano de curvatura, orientação de vertentes, comprimentos de vertentes e os lineamentos das falhas e fraturas geológicas). Os métodos utilizados na pesquisa partiram da análise qualitativa e quantitativa dos dados sobre as propriedades morfométricas, as quais foram submetidas à análise estatística possibilitando, deste modo, estabelecer a correlação entre os dados e a similaridade das sub-bacias, além da aplicação do Método do Valor Informativo para determinar os atributos físicos que mais contribuem para o desenvolvimento do processo erosivo em questão. O mapa da distribuição de voçorocas indicou os padrões das diferentes formas de voçorocas, possibilitando sua classificação a partir da análise dos indicadores morfométricos, permitindo identificar na referida área seis diferentes formas de voçorocas (Linear, Bulbiforme, Ramificada, Irregular Mista, Retangular e Irregular Retangular). Os lineamentos mapeados na orientação das voçorocas apresentaram predominância na orientação leste-oeste e nordeste-sudoeste, fato que evidencia a influência do controle estrutural nos referidos processos e as principais direções das voçorocas contribui em suas formas. Enfim, os resultados alcançados possibilitou propor um cenário de como ocorre a sistemática de desenvolvimento das diferentes formas de voçorocas nesta parte da Depressão Periférica no Estado.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior The Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria (CISM), is a naturally fragile area where there are erosion and siltation being usedfor military training with armored and have intensified their use because of the implementation of Centro de Adestramento e Avaliação Sul (CAA-Sul). This study aims to evaluate the erodibility of Geotechnical Unit Formação Santa Maria where construction works of CAA-Sul will take place, providing subsidies for the environmental planning. Besides this it s intended to: understand the use of the field and the erosive processes; evaluate the relief and the Geotechnical Unit of the local where will establish the CAA-SUL and perform the physical characterization and erodibility of this Unit (C horizon), comparing the results obtained by POSSER (2015). The methodological procedures included a review of the researched subject fieldwork to evaluate the physical aspects of the area and collect samples for physical characterization and indirect evaluation of erodibility with disaggregated trials, laboratory cone MCT (NOGAMI e VILIBOR,1979). The PC profile have 3 meters of high with horizons A, sandy-silty, B and B/C, clay-sandy, and C, a conglomeratic sandstone. The C horizon had severe disaggregation and the relation pi/s > 52 (erodible) only for the condition dry on air, being considered high erodibility by the laboratory cone test. The results of erodibility are similar to those obtained by POSSER (2015), in that, except A horizon, are classified as erodible, especially when tested in the condition dry on air, confirming the susceptibility to erosion of the materials/horizons of these profiles, already verified by Maciel Filho (1990). Although it s a special area, the Brazilian army has sought to meet the environmental laws regarding environmental protection and recovery of their areas and this study contributes to the environmental diagnosis of CISM as it relates to erosive processes, providing subsidies for the environmental planning in this area. O Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria (CISM) é uma área naturalmente frágil onde ocorrem processos de erosão e assoreamento. É utilizada para treinamentos militares com blindados e terá o seu uso intensificado pela implantação do Centro de Adestramento e Avaliação Sul (CAA-Sul). Este estudo tem como objetivo geral aplicar ensaios de erodibilidade em uma Unidade Geotécnica no Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria sobre a qual serão instaladas as obras de construção do CAA-Sul, fornecendo subsídios para o seu planejamento ambiental. Além deste, pretende-se: compreender o uso do campo e os seus processos erosivos; avaliar o relevo e Unidade Geotécnica do local onde será o CAA-SUL e realizar a caracterização física e de erodibilidade desta Unidade (horizonte C), comparando com os resultados obtidos por POSSER (2015). Os procedimentos metodológicos incluíram uma revisão sobre a temática pesquisada, trabalhos de campo para avaliação dos aspectos físicos da área e coleta de amostras para caracterização física e avaliação indireta da erodibilidade com ensaios de desagregação, cone de laboratório e MCT (NOGAMI e VILIBOR,1995). O perfil PC tem 3 metros de altura com horizontes A, areno-siltoso, B e B/C argilo-arenosos, e C um arenito conglomerático. O horizonte C apresentou intensa desagregação e a relação pi/s > 52 (erodível) somente para a condição seca ao ar, sendo considerado de alta erodibilidade pelo ensaio de cone de laboratório. Os resultados de erodibilidade são semelhantes aos obtidos por POSSER (2015) onde, com exceção do horizonte A, os demais são classificados como erodíveis, principalmente quando ensaiados na condição seca ao ar, confirmando a susceptibilidade à erosão dos materiais/horizontes destes perfis, já constatados por Maciel Filho (1990). Com base nos resultados de erodibilidade, sugerem-se algumas medidas a serem implantadas para minimizar os impactos ambientais como: a recuperação do leito das estradas que apresentam as erosões mais acentuadas; a implementação de um sistema de drenagem adequado; a construção de mais pontes para a passagem dos blindados; implementação do sistema de rotas e rodízios de estradas considerando a fragilidade ambiental da área.

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul The research that resulted in this master thesis was developed on a dirt road Instruction Campo de Santa Maria, RS. The main objective was to study the erodibility of the surface soil horizons A, B and C. The methodology consisted in the literature; field investigations and laboratory stage. In the latter were carried out tests of physical and chemical characterization, direct shear strength tests, cone penetrometer dynamic test, testing for indirect evaluation (breakdown, laboratory cone, infiltration rate and loss by immersion) and direct (Inderbitzen) erodibility . The results were compared with the proposed Bastos (1999) to estimate the soil erodibility unsaturated located in Porto Alegre.A road evaluated this on a probable fluvial terrace. Based on results of direct shear tests showed greater susceptibility to erosion to the horizon C. The test of dynamic cone penetrometer confirmed the results found by Pittelkow (2013) and Santos (2014) showing greater penetration resistance for the crust layer. In indirect evaluation of erodibility - by estimating the erodibility factor (KUSLE) soil horizons A, B and C, was between 0.24 and 0.40, making sure it can not separate these materials on the erodibility. The breakdown test showed increased susceptibility to erosion for the B and C horizons, regardless of the moisture condition. The results of the laboratory test cone was unsatisfactory with the results observed in the field. The MCT methodology presented a good relationship of correspondence between the results of the tests and the behavior of soils in the studied sites, primarily for the air condition to dry moisture, proving their applicability to the materials. Direct evaluation made through the tests Inderbitzen confirmed that the loss of soil generally is greater the larger the slope of the ramp and flow test. According to this assessment to the horizon samples B and C there was a tendency of higher values of erodibility in dry condition the air. It was also found lower values of erodibility of the horizon, standing from about 0 to 13.8 g / cm2 / min / Pa, for natural moisture condition and dry air, respectively. B horizon values stood at an intermediate level, for samples in natural moisture condition. The values for K for the C horizon stood at 65.8 g / cm2 / min / Pa for the natural moisture. Did not establish critical hydraulic stresses for the A and B horizons, the natural moisture condition, but for the other conditions ranged between 0.94 and 1.29 Pa for the horizon and 0.95 and 1.17 Pa for the B horizon to horizon C values were between 0.90 and 1.19 Pa. The B and C horizons were the materials most potentially erodible. The criteria had better correlation with geotechnical proposed Bastos (1999) were the erodibility coefficient obtained in Inderbitzen test and the erodibility criteria MCT methodology. A pesquisa que resultou nesta dissertação de mestrado foi desenvolvida em um perfil de solo típico do Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria, RS. O objetivo principal é a avaliação da erodibilidade dos solos superficiais dos horizontes A, B e C que compõem esse perfil de solo. A metodologia aplicada consistiu no levantamento bibliográfico; investigações de campo e na etapa de laboratório. Nesta última foram realizados os ensaios de caracterização física e química, ensaios de resistência ao cisalhamento direto, ensaio do penetrômetro dinâmico de cone, ensaios para avaliação indireta (desagregação, cone de laboratório, infiltrabilidade e perda por imersão) e direta (Inderbitzen) da erodibilidade. Os resultados foram classificados segundo a proposta geotécnica de Bastos (1999) para a estimativa da erodibilidade de solos não saturados na região de Porto Alegre. O perfil de solo esta situado próxima a jazida de empréstimo que esta sobre um provável terraço fluvial. Os resultados obtidos nos ensaios de cisalhamento direto demonstraram maior susceptibilidade à erosão para o horizonte C. O ensaio do penetrômetro dinâmico de cone confirmou os resultados encontrados por Pittelkow (2013) e Santos (2014) demonstrando maior resistência à penetração para a camada de crosta. Na avaliação indireta da erodibilidade através da estimativa do fator erodibilidade (KUSLE) os solos dos horizontes A, B e C, situou-se entre 0,24 e 0,40, verificando que não se consegue separar estes materiais quanto à erodibilidade. O ensaio de desagregação demonstrou maior susceptibilidade à erosão para os horizontes B e C, independente da condição de umidade. Os resultados do ensaio de cone de laboratório não foram satisfatórios com os resultados observados em campo. A metodologia MCT apresentou uma boa relação de correspondência entre os resultados dos ensaios e o comportamento dos solos nos locais estudados, principalmente para a condição de umidade seca ao ar, comprovando sua aplicabilidade a estes materiais. A avaliação direta, feita através dos ensaios de Inderbitzen, confirmou que geralmente a perda de solo é tanto maior quanto maior for à inclinação da rampa e a vazão de ensaio. Segundo esta avaliação, para as amostras dos horizontes B e C verificou-se certa tendência de valores mais elevados de erodibilidade na condição seca ao ar. Também se verificou valores mais baixos de erodibilidade do horizonte A, situando-se de aproximadamente 0 a 13,8 g/cm2/min/Pa, para a condição de umidade natural e seca ao ar, respectivamente. No horizonte B os valores situaram-se em um patamar intermediário, para as amostras na condição de umidade natural. O valore de K para o horizonte C situou-se em 65,8 g/cm2/ min/ Pa, para a umidade natural. Não se conseguiu determinar as tensões hidráulicas críticas para os horizontes A e B, na condição de umidade natural, mas para as demais condições situaram entre 0,94 e 1,29 Pa para o horizonte A e 0,95 e 1,17 Pa para o horizonte B. Para o horizonte C os valores situaram-se entre 0,90 e 1,19 Pa. Os horizontes B e C foram os materiais mais potencialmente erodíveis. Os critérios que obtiveram melhor correlação com a proposta geotécnica de Bastos (1999) foram o coeficiente de erodibilidade obtido no ensaio Inderbitzen e o critério de erodibilidade da metodologia MCT.

A large loss of soil by erosion occurs on the dirt roads that was diagnosed in the Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria (CISM) where training occurs with armored vehicles and other large area. This study aimed to understand and to set the erosive processes on a dirt road located in CISM and how specific objectives sought to understand how the area used, the type of material involved and its resistance to the process erosive using for this test of physical characterization and erodibility. The results of this study may contribute to the maintenance of roads CISM. This research began with a literature review on the topic, fieldwork for recognition of the area, for description of erosional features and gathering of samples for be tested through test physical characterization and erodibility. The sampled points of the road were: the Crust, E2, E6 and E7, and the horizons B and C of the borrow pit. The tests of the erodibility were performed with the samples E2 , E7 and Crust and compared to data obtained by Sant Ana, 2012. The road lies over an area of alluvial terrace where if find argisoil. The road crosses a flat-topped hill with NW-SE direction. Were described in place, ridges and ravines related to lack of drainage, the presence of compacted layer (crust) with mud crack, alcoves of the regression, ducts and pot erosion. Geotechnical tests confirm the fragile nature of local soil, reaffirming human action a accelerator of the erosion in the area. The study of which this Master s Thesis results was developed in a gully along State Highway RS 377, in the city of São Francisco de Assis, RS. Themain objective of this study was theerodibilityof the superficial soils(horizons A,BandC) and of the rock substrate(layers 1Aand2C) of atypical profile from the gully area. Themethodology used consisted in review ofliterature, field investigation, characterization testings, chemical testings, direct shear resistance testings, testingsforindirect valuation (degradation and infiltration testings and loss by immersion) and indirect valuation (Inderbitzen) of erodibility and the comparison with the proposal from Bastos (1999) of an estimate of erodibility of unsaturated soils in Porto Alegre region. The results obtained from the erodibility indirect testing through the erodibility factor estimate (KUSLE), from soil disaggregation potential valuation and from criterion based on MCT methodology were as follows: for horizons A, B and C and layers 2C and 1A, the values were between 0,10 and 0,21, and it was verified that these materials cannot be separated regarding erodibility. The MCT methodology presented good relation and correspondence between the testing results and the soils/rocks behavior on the studied location, proving its applicability to these materials. The direct valuation, achieved through the Inderbitzen testings, whose main purpose is to quantify the erodibility of the studied soils and rocks, through the erodibility rate, K and the hydraulic critical shearing stress (thcrít), confirmed that the loss of soil is as higher as higher is the ramp and the testing flow. According to this assessment, for sandstones samples (layers 2C and 1A), it was verified some tendency for higher values of erodibility in air-dried condition. It was also verified higher erodibility values from the horizon C and sandstone layers compared to the layer A. Regarding to the horizon B, the values were situated in an intermediate level. The horizon A presented a value for K=0,0095 g/cm²/min/Pa, lower than the result from horizon B (K=0,17 g/cm²/min/Pa). The values of K for the horizon C and the layers of sandstone were between 0,33 and 0,42 g/cm²/min/Pa. It was not possible to determine the critical hydraulic stress for the horizon A, but for the horizon B these values were between 1 and 1,3 Pa. For the horizon C and the sandstones, these values were between 0,5 and 1 Pa. The horizon C and the sandstones from the layers 2C and 1A were the more potentially erodible materials. Due to the little amount of fine portion, the little organic matter and the low plasticity, these horizons/layers are more erodible than the soils studied by Bastos (199) e Fernandes (2011). The criterion that presented a better correlation with the geothecnic purpose from Bastos (1999) were the erodibility coefficient obtained through the Inderbitzen testing and the erodibility criteria from the MCT methodology. A pesquisa, da qual resulta esta dissertação de mestrado, foi desenvolvida em uma voçoroca localizada as margens da RS 377, no município de São Francisco de Assis, RS. O objetivo principal foi o estudo da erodibilidade dos solos superficiais (horizontes A, B e C) e do substrato rochoso (camadas 2C e 1A) de um perfil típico da área da voçoroca. A metodologia aplicada consistiu no levantamento bibliográfico; investigação de campo, ensaios de caracterização, ensaios químicos, ensaios de resistência ao cisalhamento direto, ensaios para avaliação indireta (ensaios de desagregação, infiltrabilidade e perda por imersão) e direta (Inderbitzen) da erodibilidade e comparação com a proposta de Bastos (1999) para a estimativa da erodibilidade de solos não saturados na região de Porto Alegre. Os resultados obtidos na avaliação indireta da erodibilidade através da estimativa do fator erodibilidade (KUSLE), da avaliação do potencial de desagregação dos solos e dos critérios baseados na metodologia MCT foram os seguintes: para os solos dos horizontes A, B e C e camadas 2C e 1A, situou-se entre 0,10 e 0,21, verificando que não se consegue separar estes materiais quanto à erodibilidade. A metodologia MCT apresentou uma boa relação e correspondência entre os resultados dos ensaios e o comportamento dos solos/rochas nos locais estudados, comprovando sua aplicabilidade a estes materiais. A avaliação direta, feita através dos ensaios de Inderbitzen, os quais tem por objetivo quantificar a erodibilidade dos solos e rochas estudadOs, através da taxa de erodibilidade, K e a tensão cisalhante hidráulica crítica (thcrít), confirmou que a perda de solo é tanto maior quanto maior for à inclinação da rampa e a vazão de ensaio. Segundo esta avaliação, para as amostras de arenito (camadas 2C e 1A) verificou-se certa tendência de valores mais elevados de erodibilidade na condição seca ao ar. Também se verificou valores mais elevados de erodibilidade do horizonte C e camadas de arenito em relação ao horizonte A. No horizonte B os valores situaram-se em um patamar intermediário. O horizonte A apresentou um valor de K = 0,0095 g/cm2/min/Pa, bem inferior ao horizonte B (K = 0,17 g/cm2/min/Pa). Os valores de K para o horizonte C e camadas de arenito situaram-se entre 0,33 e 0,42 g/cm2/min/Pa. Não se conseguiu determinar as tensões hidráulicas críticas para o horizonte A, mas para o horizonte B estas se situaram entre 1 e 1,3 Pa. Para o horizonte C e os arenitos estes valores situaram-se entre 0,5 e 1Pa. O horizonte C e os arenitos das Camadas 2C e 1A foram os materiais mais potencialmente erodíveis. Devido a fração fina ser pequena, pouca matéria orgânica e baixa plasticidade, estes horizontes/camadas são mais erodíveis que os solos estudados por Bastos (1999) e Fernandes (2011). Os critérios que obtiveram melhor correlação com a proposta geotécnica de Bastos (1999) foram o coeficiente de erodibilidade obtido no ensaio Inderbitzen e o critério de erodibilidade da metodologia MCT.

The Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria (CISM) is a military training area for armored troops. Such practices have caused environmental impacts related to the destruction of vegetation, erosion, and siltation of waterways. Since there is no environmental data for the area, the following research aimed to develop an environmental diagnosis of the physical environment of the studied area at CISM, where the military exercises take place, aiming to assist in environmental planning in the area. The specific objectives aimed to understand the relationship between geology, soils, geomorphology, vegetation cover, way of use and occupation with the erosion processes that occur in the area, assess indirectly the behavior of the erodibility of some soils and rocks happening at CISM, suggesting preventive, environmental restoration and compensation actions. The upcoming research was conducted in three stages: office, field, and laboratory studies. The procedures to conduct the research included: field work to identify geology, soils and vegetation; geotechnical characterization tests and erodibility, and preparation of the geomorphological map. The results showed that the area of CISM has a fragile natural environment in relation to erosion; such characteristic is related to the type of soil and rock that were evaluated as erodible in laboratory trials. This weakness is increased by the way land is used. The most affected areas are located in the geomorphological unit called the gently rolling hills and are related to roads and routes of armor. The presence of ridges and ravines on such roads is mainly due to the lack of surface drainage, the type of material exposed in the bed, soil compaction and lack of maintenance of such roads and routes. O Campo de Instrução de Santa Maria (CISM) é uma área destinada ao treinamento militar de tropas blindadas cuja prática tem provocado impactos ambientais relacionados à destruição da cobertura vegetal, erosão e assoreamento dos cursos d água. Como não há dados ambientais para a área, este estudo teve como objetivo geral elaborar um diagnóstico ambiental do meio físico para parte da área do CISM, onde se concentram os exercícios militares, procurando auxiliar no planejamento ambiental da área. Como objetivos específicos buscou-se compreender a relação entre geologia, solos, geomorfologia, cobertura vegetal, forma de uso e ocupação com os processos erosivos que ocorrem na área; avaliar de forma indireta o comportamento da erodibilidade de alguns tipos de solos e rochas que ocorrem no CISM e sugerir ações de prevenção, recuperação ou compensação ambiental. Esta pesquisa foi realizada em três etapas: gabinete, campo e laboratório. Os procedimentos para execução da pesquisa incluíram: trabalhos de campo para identificação da geologia, solos e cobertura vegetal; ensaios de caracterização geotécnica e de erodibilidade; e elaboração do mapa geomorfológico. Os resultados mostraram que a área do CISM apresenta uma fragilidade ambiental natural em relação aos processos erosivos e que está relacionada ao tipo de solo e rocha que foram avaliados como erodíveis em ensaios de laboratório. Essa fragilidade é acentuada pela forma como a área é utilizada. As áreas mais impactadas estão localizadas na unidade geomorfológica denominada de colinas levemente onduladas e estão relacionadas às estradas e às rotas dos blindados. A presença de sulcos e ravinas em tais estradas e rotas devese, principalmente, à falta de drenagem superficial, ao tipo de material exposto no seu leito, a compactação do solo e a falta de manutenção dessas estradas e rotas. Como objetivos específicos buscou-se compreender a relação entre geologia, solos, geomorfologia, cobertura vegetal, forma de uso e ocupação com os processos erosivos que ocorrem na área; avaliar de forma indireta o comportamento da erodibilidade de alguns tipos de solos e rochas que ocorrem no CISM e sugerir ações de prevenção, recuperação ou compensação ambiental. Esta pesquisa foi realizada em três etapas: gabinete, campo e laboratório. Os procedimentos para execução da pesquisa incluíram: trabalhos de campo para identificação da geologia, solos e cobertura vegetal; ensaios de caracterização geotécnica e de erodibilidade; e elaboração do mapa geomorfológico. Os resultados mostraram que a área do CISM apresenta uma fragilidade ambiental natural em relação aos processos erosivos e que está relacionada ao tipo de solo e rocha que foram avaliados como erodíveis em ensaios de laboratório. Essa fragilidade é acentuada pela forma como a área é utilizada. As áreas mais impactadas estão localizadas na unidade geomorfológica denominada de colinas levemente onduladas e estão relacionadas às estradas e às rotas dos blindados. A presença de sulcos e ravinas em tais estradas e rotas devese, principalmente, à falta de drenagem superficial, ao tipo de material exposto no seu leito, a compactação do solo e a falta de manutenção dessas estradas e rotas.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior The research of which this Master's Thesis results was carried out in a gully known as Buraco Fundo (Deep Hole), located in the municipality of Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul. The main objective was the study of the erodibility of surface soils (horizon A/B) and rocky substrate (altered rock, siltstone and sandstone) of a typical profile of the gully area. The methodology used in this study consisted in review of the literature, field investigation, tests of characterization, indirect assessment (tests of disaggregation, infiltration and loss by immersion) and direct assessment (Inderbitzen); as well as comparision with the proposal of Bastos (1999) for estimating the erodobility of unsaturated soils in the region of Porto Alegre. The results obtained out of the indirect assessment of erodibility by means of estimating the erodibility factor (KUSLE), of assessing the potential of soil disaggregation, and of criteria based on MTC methodology are: for the soils of the horizon A/B and of the altered rock the factor KUSLE has been situated between 0,20 and 0,30, being them classified as medium erodibility rate; for the layers of siltstone and sandstone that parameter has been set between 0,30 and 0,54, allowing to characterize them as materials of medium to high rate of erodibility. The tests of disaggregation showed the weaker resistence of sandstone under flooding, owing to its low cementation. The test results based on the MCT methodology have highlighted the greater susceptibility to erosion of the sandstone layer in relation to other materials. In the direct assessment of erodibility, through Inderbitzen testing, the sandstone has been found to be more erosive (K = 0.045), mainly in air-dried samples. According to Bastos' (1999) proposal of geotechnical approach, e.g. the parameter K in natural moisture, both layers have been classified as medium to low erodibility. The result of the coefficient of erodibility KUSLE has been presented as consistent with the approach proposed by the author (KUSLE > 0.20), showing that the sandstone constituted the most erosive layer. Besides, through the analysis of Pp,200, it has been found that among the layers studied the sandstone is the most erosive one. As regards the plasticity index (PI), the ratio of dispersion (RD), and through the analysis of parameter Δc, the tendency proposed by Bastos has not been found in this work. The parameters proposed by Bastos (1999), which presented the best performance have been Pp,200, the factor KUSLE, and the erodibility criteria of MTC methodology. A pesquisa, da qual resulta esta dissertação de mestrado, se desenvolveu em uma voçoroca, conhecida como Buraco Fundo localizada no município de Santa Maria/RS. O objetivo principal foi o estudo da erodibilidade dos solos superficiais (horizonte A/B) e do substrato rochoso (rocha alterada, siltito e arenito) de um perfil típico da área da voçoroca. A metodologia aplicada neste estudo consistiu no levantamento bibliográfico, investigação de campo, ensaios de caracterização e de avaliação indireta (ensaios de desagregação, infiltrabilidade e perda por imersão) e direta (Inderbitzen), e comparação com a proposta de Bastos (1999) para estimativa da erodibilidade de solos não saturados na região de Porto Alegre. Os resultados obtidos na avaliação indireta da erodibilidade através da estimativa do fator de erodibilidade (KUSLE), da avaliação do potencial de desagregação dos solos e dos critérios baseados na metodologia MCT são os seguintes: para o solo do horizonte A/B bem como o de rocha alterada o fator KUSLE situou-se entre 0,20 e 0,30, sendo estes classificados como de média erodibilidade; para as camadas de siltito e de arenito este parâmetro situou-se entre 0,30 e 0,54, caracterizando-as como materiais de média a alta erodibilidade. Os ensaios de desagregação mostraram a menor resistência do arenito frente à inundação, devido à sua baixa cimentação. Os resultados dos ensaios baseados na Metodologia MCT destacam a maior susceptibilidade à erosão da camada de arenito em relação aos outros materiais. Na avaliação direta da erodibilidade, através do ensaio de Inderbitzen, o arenito apresentou-se mais erodível (K=0,045), principalmente nas amostras secas ao ar. Conforme a proposta de abordagem geotécnica de Bastos (1999), o parâmetro K na umidade natural, ambas as camadas foram classificadas como de média a baixa erodibilidade. O resultado do coeficiente de erodibilidade KUSLE apresentou-se coerente com abordagem proposta pelo autor (KUSLE >0,20), sendo o arenito a camada mais erodível. Com a análise da Pp,200, verificou-se que o arenito é a camada mais erodível das estudadas. Quanto ao índice de plasticidade (IP), razão de dispersão (RD) e através da análise do parâmetro Δc, a tendência proposta por Bastos não foi verificada no trabalho. Os parâmetros apresentados na proposta de Bastos (1999), que tiveram melhor desempenho foram a Pp,200, o fator KUSLE e o critério de erodibilidade da Metodologia MCT.

The microbasin of the Sarandi little stream, that it crosses the cities of Saint Maria and Dilermando de Aguiar, situated in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, south region of Brazil, presents innumerable erosions; the most significant soil erosion on that region is well known as Buraco Fundo gully, which is also our case of study. The general goal of this dissertation was to delimitate and to characterize the geological and geotechnical materials of that soil erosion, in order to understand the parameters that influence that erosive process. As specific goals tries to evaluate the erosive marks and the pseudo-karstic relief, as well as the degree of erodibility of that materials, in order to minimize its advance. Nevertheless, this writing involved theoretical research, fieldwork and laboratory, where the assays of geotechnical characterization and direct and indirect evaluation of erodibility had been executed. The soil erosion of the Buraco Fundo gully occurs in sedimentary rocks according to direction N20º-35ºE. It results of rotational slippings and pseudo-dolines that evaluates to ridges and ravines. It was assayed the superficial horizon (A/B) and the sandstone layer located in the amphitheater of that soil erosion. The horizon A/B presents an arenaceous and argillaceous texture, plastic behavior and the biggest quotient of emptiness, while the sandstone did not present plasticity. The coefficient of sorption(s) was bigger in the sandstone than in the superficial horizon. Therefore, it can be foreseen that the saturation in rainy events is faster in the sandstone than in the superficial horizon. The sandstone makes the material, after the saturation, establish the superficial draining. It occurs, as consequence, the carry of fine materials. It was verified a direct relationship between the results of the slaking test and the assays of infiltrability. The sandstone showed high desagregation and high coefficient of infiltrability. The values of Pi/s had been superior to 50, for both samples; they were classified as erodible according to Nogami and Villibor (1979). The coefficient of erodibility (k) was 10 times bigger in the sandstone, which can be related to the loss of resistance due to suction and the apparent fragility of the cementing agent. The soil revealed to be very resistant cause presents organic matter , roots and fines. The results indicate the necessity of protection of this area since the initial period of erosion, in order to avoid that process of erosion reaches the rock. A microbacia do Arroio Sarandi, nos municípios de Santa Maria e Dilermando de Aguiar/RS apresenta inúmeras erosões sendo a mais significativa uma voçoroca conhecida na região como Buraco Fundo escolhida para estudo de caso. O objetivo geral desta dissertação foi a caracterização geológico-geotécnica dos materiais da voçoroca, procurando compreender os parâmetros que influenciam no processo erosivo. Como objetivos específicos procurou-se avaliar as feições erosivas e as formas de relevo pseudo-cársticos bem como a erodibilidade dos materiais sugerindo ações para minimizar o seu avanço. Este trabalho envolveu etapa de escritório; de campo e de laboratório, onde foram executados os ensaios de caracterização geotécnica e avaliação direta e indireta da erodibilidade. A voçoroca do Buraco Fundo ocorre em rochas sedimentares segundo a direção N20º-35ºE. A evolução se dá por escorregamentos rotacionais e pseudo-dolinas que evoluem para sulcos e ravinas. Foram ensaiados o horizonte superficial (A/B) e a camada de arenito localizados no anfiteatro da voçoroca. O horizonte A/B apresenta uma textura areno-argilosa, comportamento plástico e maior índice de vazios, enquanto o arenito não apresentou plasticidade. O coeficiente de sorção (s) foi maior no arenito do que no horizonte superficial e, portanto, pode-se prever que a saturação em eventos chuvosos, seja mais rápida no arenito, fazendo com que neste material, após a saturação, se estabeleça o escoamento superficial e ocorra, como consequência, o carreamento de materiais finos. Verificou-se uma relação direta entre os resultados do ensaio de desagregação e os de infiltrabilidade, onde o arenito mostrou alta desagregação e elevado coeficiente de infiltrabilidade. Os valores de Pi/s foram superiores a 50 para ambas as amostras, classificadas como erodíveis segundo Nogami e Villibor (1979). O coeficiente de erodibilidade (K) foi 10 vezes maior no arenito o que pode estar relacionado à perda da resistência devido à sucção e a aparente fragilidade do agente cimentante. O solo, por apresentar matéria orgânica, raízes e finos mostrou-se mais resistente. Os resultados apontam para a proteção das áreas em estágio erosivo inicial evitando que o processo atinja a rocha.
