This article is a response to a previous article on acquired causes of eyebrow and eyelash loss. The authors highlight the importance of including tinea faciei, a rare infectious disease, as a potential cause of alopecia of eyebrows and eyelashes. They present a clinical case of a 7-year-old girl with tinea faciei involving the eyelids, which was initially misdiagnosed and mistreated. The authors emphasize the need for early recognition and prompt treatment of this condition to prevent complications. They recommend considering tinea faciei as a differential diagnosis in cases of eyelash alopecia that do not respond to topical treatment, especially in areas with a high prevalence of fungal infections.
