Objectives : to propose and verify the applicability of a model to measure the nutritional care of children under five years of age in the Family Health Strategy (Brazil). Methodology : this is a methodological research. The study contemplated the construction of a logical-operational model and the ascertainment of its applicability. The development of the model was based on the implementation analysis and on Donabedian's evaluative proposal for health services. The applicability was verified in 24 health teams in two municipalities in the department of Paraíba (Brazil), with the inclusion of three intertwined levels of analysis (health teams, professionals and population). The results were compared according to the municipality and type of health team by means of Student's t-test. Results : the model constructed contemplates parameters of structure (human resources and availability of materials and supplies) and process (general practices of health professionals, growth monitoring, prevention of specific nutritional deficiencies, context of the Lacta and Alimenta Brasil Strategy and management/intersectoral). The application characterized nutritional care as fragmented, noting deficiencies in the compliance with the growth curves of the child health card and in the National Iron Supplementation Program in both municipalities, and better performance in the municipality with expanded teams with a nutritionist. Conclusions : the model will be able to guide the monitoring, evaluation, management and measurement of nutritional care for children in the Family Health Strategy. The degree of implementation of food and nutrition actions was "intermediate", with a better situation for extended teams with a nutritionist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This research aims to evaluate the coordination of care in Primary Health Care in the Recanto das Emas Administrative Region. Methodology: This is an evaluative research, with a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, carried out with forty-two professionals in the basic health units of the administrative region. Results: The results indicate a fragility in the referral system and counter-referral to specialized services. Conclusion: We have identified weaknesses in communication between services, which may be an obstacle to assistance, as well as the inversion of the referral flow, which leads us to believe that this fact is preventing the resoluteness of Primary Health Care. Objective: to identify nurses' social representations about the relationship among prostitution, health and the Family Health Strategy. Method: qualitative study supported by the Theory of Social Representations, carried out with 12 nurses from the Family Health Strategy. Data collection used the Free Words Association technique and structured interviews. The data were organized using an association of the lexical content and the Collective Subject Discourse, presented in a figure and tables, analyzed in a descriptive and interpretative way. Results: the social representations of the nurses influence the actions and behaviors offered insofar as they are restricted to the sexual and reproductive sphere, to the detriment of the contextual aspects of everyday life, work and health. Conclusion: nurses' social representations link sexual practices to the risk of catching sexually transmitted infections and lacks the articulation of health promotion and the principle of integrality. The Medical Residency (MR) is considered the golden standard in terms of medical specialization in the country. Bioethics incorporates the list of compulsory subjects for the RM level qualification, noteworthy for the (i) increasing complexity of the work in health care and (ii) its incipient approach to the ethical problems in the formation of health professionals. Based on these considerations, the first “Graduation in Bioethics and Primary Health Care Workshop” was designed for the Internship Program in Medicine of Family and Community in the county of Rio de Janeiro (FCHRP-MSH-RJ). The objective of this workshop was to foster the debate on the aspects of bioethics in the professional practice of Primary Health Care/Family Health Strategy (PHC/FHS). The scope of the present article attempts to present the experience and contribute to discussions about the necessary address of ethical conflicts for the excellence of health care in the PHC/FMS.

Family Health Strategy (FHS) is one of the foundations of Primary Health Care. FHS offers a decentralized assistance in its referred territories, and attends different types of demands, including issues of mental health. This research aimed to make meanings with FHS professionals about their resources for mental health care. Thus, groups of discussion were conducted with these professionals in a town located in the state of São Paulo. Qualitative procedures of thematic analysis were conducted with the material, based on social constructionist contributions. This analysis highlights important technical and relational resources of the team regarding their practices with mental health, even though these resources were apparently little legitimized in their daily work. The need to create contexts for reflection among healthcare professionals where they can make new meanings about their actions is discussed. This may contribute to enhance the quality of mental health assistance in Primary Health Care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To understand care practices for people with Chronic Noncommunicable Disease, developed by Primary Health Care nurses in a municipality in southern Brazil. Method: Qualitative study, developed through the Discourse of the Collective Subject. Twenty-three nurses from the Family Health Strategy participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by the health promotion framework. Results: Nurses care practices for people with chronic disease present themselves through the home visit, individual care and collective care. These, eventually, have an extended character, advocating the promotion of health, at other times it is restrictive, returning to be a traditional and biologicalist practice. Final considerations: The nurse acts in a diversified way in this field, being present in the lives of people with chronic diseases. However, it is necessary to move forward, especially in the search for the constant and continuous development of an extended and welcoming care practice.

Objective: To identify the demands for the psychosocial care of vulnerable communities in the Vale do Itajaí, Santa Catarina Methods: Qualitative research, multiple case study, through narrative interviews with health professionals in three municipalities, from January to May 2018. The analysis of the narratives followed a formal analysis of the text, structural description of the content, analytical abstraction, analysis of knowledge, and contrastive comparison. Results: The described categories were: Meanings of the demands for support before the flood; Meanings of the demands during the occurrence of the disaster; Meanings of demands after the flood: psychosocial care; Meanings of the demands for monitoring the territory after the disaster. Conclusion: The identification of demands for mental health care after the disaster occurs through the search for health services, specific symptoms, and consequences of adapting to the recovery phase, such as migratory processes and temporary housing. The research contributes to the culture of care with a multiprofessional perspective in health care for the population affected by disasters. Objective: to evaluate the process and outcome indicators of the prenatal care developed in primary care, comparing traditional care models and the Family Health Strategy. Method: this is a cohort study, conducted with an intentional sample of 273 mothers/babies from the neonatal period and followed up for one year. Donabedian evaluation was adopted and data were discussed based on the Social Determination of Health. The independent variable was the care model. The dependent variables in the process evaluation were related to the quality of prenatal care and to the quality score created and the evaluation of the outcome, to the conditions of birth and the first year of life. The evaluation of the process was performed by estimating the relative risk and the evaluation of the outcome was performed by the Cox Multiple Regression Model. Results: lower income and risk of the low prenatal quality score were identified in the Family Health Units, where there were more puerperium consultation and health education actions. There was no difference in outcome indicators. Conclusion: possibly the best quality of prenatal care was able to minimize negative socioeconomic effects found in family health, so the outcome indicators were similar in both models of the primary care. ABSTRACT The Family Health Strategy is the preferred admittance of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and relies on Family Health Support Centers (FHSC) to reduce referrals to secondary care, as it seeks to reduce Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions (ACSC). This study analyzed the growth of FHSC and its impact on the number of ACSC. This is an exploratory, descriptive and quantitative study, conducted between 1998 and 2016, based on the database of the Department of Primary Care of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). An expansion of the family health teams all over Brazil was identified: 40,490 teams were established in 5,483 municipalities, covering 64.2% of the population. The number of FHSC at the Northeast and the population coverage was higher in relation to other regions. The highest decrease of ACSC occurred in the Midwest, which has a minor number of FHSC established. The Northeast had the highest number and coverage of FHSC; however, a proportional reduction of ACSC did not happen. The largest number or FHSC coverage has still not influenced the reduction rate of ACSC in the most vulnerable populations within the context of social determinants.

Objectives: To evaluate the attributes derived from Primary Health Care (PHC) focusing on children and adolescents living with HIV, in the experience of health professionals, comparing traditional units (BHU) and Family Health Strategy (FHS). Method: Cross-sectional research in which 524 professionals from 25 cities of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil were interviewed. The Primary Care Assessment Tool Brazil was used from March through August 2014. Results: The PHC score attributed to FHS (7.8) was higher than that attributed to BHU (6.8). The higher scores contributed to the home visit, the professional qualification and the employment bond, the latter acting independently of the others. Conclusion: The satisfactory evaluation of the derived attributes approves the interaction with users and community and the potential of PHC to attend these children and adolescents, and the home visit qualifies the practice.
