Zusammenfassung: Im Fokus dieser Untersuchung zur spanischen Kunstliteratur des 17. Jahrhunderts stehen Diskurse zu unkonventionellen Entwurfs- und Maltechniken, die Koloristen wie Tizian, Tintoretto und Velázquez anwendeten. Die Gemälde dieser Künstler zeichnen sich durch eine faszinierende Lebendigkeit aus, erzeugt durch eine sichtbare Pinselschrift. Diese Malweise war häufig mit dem Entwerfen auf der Leinwand verbunden. Obwohl die meisten Auftraggeber eher unkonventionell vorgehende Künstler präferierten, betrachteten die Kunsttheoretiker neuartige Praktiken lange skeptisch. Diese Urteile sollten jedoch im Zusammenhang mit den sozialen Aufwertungsbestrebungen der Maler gesehen werden. Vier zentrale Schriften werden auf die Verschränkung von künstlerischen und sozialen Aspekten untersucht: Gutiérrez‘ „Noticia“ (1600), Carduchos „Diálogos de la Pintura“ (1633), Pachecos „Arte de la Pintura“ (1649) und Martínez‘ „Discursos practicables“ (1673). Das ermöglichte, den dialogischen Werkprozess und neuartige Malweisen unabhängig von Farbgebung und Naturnachahmung zu bewerten., This study of Spanish art literature of the 17th century focuses on discourses on unconventional draft and painting techniques applied by colorists such as Titian, Tintoretto and Velázquez. The paintings of these artists are characterized by a fascinating vividness, produced by visible brushstrokes. This style of painting was often associated with drafting directly on the canvas. Although most clients preferred unconventional artists, the art theorists remained skeptical of such practices for a long time. These judgments, however, should be seen in the context of the painters’ aspiration for social advancements. Four central writings are examined on the interconnection of artistic and social aspects: Gutiérrez' Noticia (1600), Carducho’s “Diálogos de la Pintura” (1633), Pacheco’s “Arte de la Pintura” (1649) and Martínez' “Discursos practicables” (1673). Spanish art theorists assessed the conceptual field of ‘color‘ in a differentiated way, distinguishing between color, coloring, imitation and painting practice. This made it possible to evaluate the dialogical working process and new painting methods, regardless of coloring and imitation of nature.
