The paper focuses on the dynamic response of a wind turbine tower induced by wind loading. The tower is represented as an elastic beam with variable cross-section. The rotor is regarded as a rigid non-rotating mass attached at the top of the tower. The solution of the constitutive equation is accomplished by finite element discretization. The eigenproperties of the model are determined. The stress distribution along the tower is investigated. A numerical experiment has been demonstrated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
