The article focuses on the forecast of economic status in the U.S. wherein several businessmen and private economists predict that economic slowdown will end in three or four months. According to U.S. President Gerard Ford's chief economist Alan Greenspan, the economy will face a decline in annual rate and fears a rise in unemployment rate but strongly believes that recession will end before or after midyear. He also added that tax cut proposals are required for immediate economic recovery and that the Congress must take a quick action on it. Also mentioned are the signs of improvement in the economy including a decrease in unemployment-compensation benefit claims, a rise in retail sales volume, new orders for manufactured goods, and a decline in interest rates.
