千葉大学教育学部附属小学校の5・6年生を対象にした地学および環境に関連した授業の実例を紹介する。テレビや新聞等から入ってくる科学用語は子ども達に必ずしも正しく理解されてはいない。授業過程において正しく理解させるための工夫が必要である。また, 見通しをもって観察や実験などを行うことは, 問題解決能力を養うことに大きく寄与する。簡便な堆積実験を通し, 砂や泥が水中に堆積することを観察することによって大地のつくりに関心を抱き, 大地の広がりに時間と空間を越えた興味を抱くようにさせたい。これらの実験は, 子ども達の興味関心をよびおこして多面的な考え方を導き出すであろう。, Classes on geology and environment were conducted for the 5th and 6th graders at the Attached Elementary School of Education Department of Chiba University. The report further explains about these classes. Scientific terms that school children acquire from mass media such as TV and newspapers are not always perceived correctly. It is imperative that ways of teaching these subjects be devised. If observation and experiments based on hypothesis are encouraged in classes, it would greatly help pupils develop their problem solving ability. 0ur goal is to assist school children to become interested in the origin and structure of the earth by employing easy methods for experiments. For instance, through a simple sedimentary experiment, they learn how sand and mud accumulate under the water. Hands-on experiments like this will surely entice children's interests as well as versatile ideas toward geology that extends beyond time and space.
