We have developed a simple and direct method for the synthesis of diaryl ether under mild reaction conditions using an oxygen bridged bimetallic CuMoO4 nanocatalyst. The catalyst tolerated a wide range of substrates with various functional groups. The catalyst is efficient and recyclable. This methodology allowed easy access to nitrofen derivatives (herbicides) from unactivated 2,4-dichlorophenol, which are important for agriculture and pharmaceuticals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new oxygen bridged [Cu‐O‐Ba] bimetallic catalyst is synthesized. The novel catalyst is used for Csp2‐O cross‐coupling reactions of phenols with haloarenes. Iodo‐, bromo‐, and unactivated chloro‐arenes could be coupled with aryl phenols efficiently in high yield. Moreover, functional groups were well tolerated using this protocol. In this work, an oxo‐bridged bimetallic CuMoO4 catalyst for Csp2−Se cross‐coupling of diaryldiselenides with aryl‐halides is reported. The current discovery is noteworthy, as the catalyst is eco‐friendly, easily accessible, air‐stable, and recyclable. The methodology exhibits broad substrate scope and the catalytic system tolerates common functional groups. The protocol uses aryl iodide and bromides as electrophile instead of boronic acids. We disclosed new bimetallic BaMoO4 nanoparticles for the C–S cross-coupling reaction. The C–S cross-coupling reaction of alkyl/aryl thiols with haloarenes was accomplished with high yields. The reaction has good functional group tolerance and selectivity. This is an efficient protocol for synthesizing the building blocks of pharmaceuticals containing C–S bonds. The catalyst is recyclable. The unactivated bromo- and 4-acetyl fluoro-arenes can well couple to afford thioethers in high yields. Arylboron and arylphosphorus compounds represent privileged structural scaffolds in synthetic chemistry for the construction of complex molecules. Transition-metal-mediated C-B and C-P cross-couplings provide a powerful synthetic tool for the construction of arylboron and arylphosphours compunds with reactive functional groups. These reactions are considerably explored for the borylation and phosphorylation of reactive aryl halides using Pd, Ni and Cu-based catalysis. Efforts are made on the utilization of Ru, Rh, Ir, Mn, Co, Fe and Ag based systems to expand the substrate scope to carboxylic acid derivatives and functionalization of C-F and C–H bonds. This comprehensive review covers the developments of the transition-metal-mediated C sp2 -B and C sp2 -P cross-couplings for the period of 2011 to 2020.
