General Medicine - Abstract
The approach presented in this study is about the calculation of the similarities among languages by using the new feature template to be obtained from the syntactic analysis phase. Studies were conducted on 6 different language sets from two different language families in order to show the calculability of similarity of languages with the help of the recommended new feature template. In the first study, triplet-pattern template which is obtained from the syntactic analysis of Turkey, Kazakh, and Uyghur Turkish languages from Turkic languages families belonging to the Ural-Altaic linguistic family, could be formed automatically through developed software, and also similarity analysis of the desired languages could be made thanks to a different module developed within the same software. Consequently, not only similar structural relations of the languages from the same language family but also structural differences among the languages can also be revealed. Even if the first aim is to determine the similarities among languages when developing an approach, the real aim of the desired structure is to form a system independent from the language. In order to show that the formed system has a structure independent from the language, another study was carried out. In the second study, the similarities among the languages were determined by using treebanks of English, Swedish and Norwegian from the Germen language family. When the language family is Turkic and the metrics are Jaccard, Dice, and Similarity Matching, the highest similarity is Turkish-Uyghur, and the values of the metrics are 25.21%, 40.27%, and 50.42%, respectively. When the language family is Germen, the highest similarity is Norwegian-Swedish, and the values of the metrics are 37.15%, 54.17%, and 74.3, respectively.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease with rising incidence. Pre- and manifest T1D is associated with intestinal barrier dysfunction, skewed microbiota composition, and serum dyslipidemia. The intestinal mucus layer protects against pathogens and its structure and phosphatidylcholine (PC) lipid composition may be compromised in T1D, potentially contributing to barrier dysfunction. This study compared prediabetic Non-Obese Diabetic (NOD) mice to healthy C57BL/6 mice by analyzing the intestinal mucus PC profile by shotgun lipidomics, plasma metabolomics by mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance, intestinal mucus production by histology, and cecal microbiota composition by 16 S rRNA sequencing. Jejunal mucus PC class levels were decreased in early prediabetic NOD vs C57BL/6 mice. In colonic mucus of NOD mice, the level of several PC species was reduced throughout prediabetes. In plasma, similar reductions of PC species were observed in early prediabetic NOD mice, where also increased beta-oxidation was prominent. No histological alterations were found in jejunal nor colonic mucus between the mouse strains. However, the β-diversity of the cecal microbiota composition differed between prediabetic NOD and C57BL/6 mice, and the bacterial species driving this difference were related to decreased short-chain fatty acid (SCFA)-production in the NOD mice. This study reports reduced levels of PCs in the intestinal mucus layer and plasma of prediabetic NOD mice as well as reduced proportions of SCFA-producing bacteria in cecal content at early prediabetes, possibly contributing to intestinal barrier dysfunction and T1D.

The analytical method was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of the procedure to clean the remains of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from the equipment surface after manufacture of the final product. For this validation, High Performance Liquid Chromatographic (HPLC) method has been chosen. The HPLC chromatographic separations were achieved using C18 (150×4.6 mm), 5µm, column, employing buffer solution and organic solvent in the ratio of 70:30 (v:v) as mobile phase with the flow rate 1.0 ml/min. The column temperature was maintained at 25 °C and a detector wavelength of 225 nm was employed. Method validation study was conducted on eight separate surfaces. In this paper, stainless steel surface, one of the eight surfaces, was chosen since it is the most widely used surface during the manufacture of the finished product including immunomodulating agent. Validation study was studied between the linearity levels of 2.7% (LOQ% level) and 300%. The method was successfully validated by establishing specificity, linearity, precision (system precision, repeatability, and intermediate precision), accuracy, robustness, solution stability and limit of detection (LOD) & limit of quantification (LOQ) for immunomodulating agent raw material.

General Medicine - Abstract
This study was aimed to determine the fertilization biology of the 'Arsel' olive cultivar obtained by hybridization breeding. For this reason, treatments of open pollination, cross pollination, and self-pollination were performed for 2 years and self-compatibility and appropriate pollinators of this new cultivar were investigated. Among the varieties included as pollinators (‘Memecik’, ‘Gemlik’, ‘Uslu’, ‘Ayvalık’ and ‘Eğriburun Nizip’), the highest fruit set was achieved with ‘Memecik’ and ‘Gemlik’ varietes in both years (2.64%, 1.37% and 1.75%, 1.39%). For this reason, ‘Memecik’ and ‘Gemlik’ cultivars were the best pollinator for ‘Arsel’ olive was thought. On the other hand, considering the statistical analyzes and productivity index values, ‘Arsel’ variety was found to be self-incompatible. However, the data also indicated that cross pollination was effective in increasing fruit set. Therefore, it is thought that the use of pollinator cultivar in orchard establishment would be beneficial in terms of yield. Pollen viability and germination tests were performed by using 2,3,5 Triphenyl Tetrazolium Chloride (TTC) and agar in petri (15% sucrose + 1% agar + 100 ppm H3BO3) methods in the study. The highest pollen viability rate was observed in ‘Memecik’ cultivar in 2020 and there isn’t statistical differences between olive cultivars in 2018. The highest pollen germination rate was observed in ‘Arsel’ cultivar in 2018. Accordingly, differences were determined between pollen viability and germination rates of examined olive cultivars in terms of years.

Gaining communication skills, one of the life skills included in the science curriculum, plays an essential role in reducing the conflicts that may occur in individuals’ communication. The fact that pre-service science teachers have professional knowledge about this skill is an indication that they can teach this skill to their students. Based on this idea, the current research aims to examine the effect of the life skills education guidebook on the development of pre-service science teachers’ professional knowledge of communication skills. The simple experimental method with a single group pretest-posttest design was employed in the research. The research sample consists of 83 pre-service science teachers studying at a state university in the 2019-2020 academic year. The communication skills professional recognition test was used as the data collection tool. The data obtained were evaluated within the framework of the determined keywords and subjected to descriptive analysis. The pretest-posttest scores of the pre-service science teachers were compared with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The test result shows that the life skills education guidebook positively affects the development of the third-grade pre-service science teacher’s professional knowledge about communication skills. The qualitative data obtained show that the professional knowledge of science teacher candidates regarding communication skills has increased from the level that needs to be developed to a weakly acceptable level. It has been revealed that the lack of prior professional knowledge of the pre-service teachers regarding communication skills makes it challenging to learn new professional knowledge., Fen bilimleri dersi öğretim programında yer alan yaşam becerilerinden biri olan iletişim becerisini kazanmak, bireylerin iletişime geçmede meydana gelebilecek çatışmaların azaltılmasında önemli rol oynamaktadır.

Although land-based pollution is expressed as the most important pollution factor in the pollution of the seas (80%), the rate of pollution originating from ships (approximately 20%) is not to be underestimated. The fact that marine pollution is caused almost exclusively by ships requires investigation of the measures to be taken against marine pollution from ships and their applicability. As a matter of fact, the most important cause of pollution caused by ships is ballast water, and it has been determined that over 7,000 marine organisms are transported between ports with ballast waters on a global scale every day. Ballast water is used to maintain the balance of the ship on the water when the ships are not loaded. Considering that 90% of international trade is still provided by ships and 3-5 billion tons of ballast water is transported by approximately 85,000 ships every year with world maritime trade, the importance of pollution caused by ballast water becomes apparent. While ballast water is one of the elements that cause the transport of exotic marine and freshwater organisms between all seas of the world and cause pollution, the pollution in question is very effective especially in the aquaculture sector. Therefore, in this article, the connection of ballast water with fisheries management has been examined and solutions have been sought for the problems.

General Medicine - Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy is a common diabetic microvascular problem. Its diagnosis and classification are based on visible changes in clinical fundus examination. However, the discovery of possible vitreous biomarkers in patients with proliferative and nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy may guide both the differentiation and degree of retinopathy. Biomarkers that will be accepted can be also a treatment target. Amphiregulin (AREG) promotes proliferative and regenerative activity and repairs most cell types by binding and activating epidermal growth factor receptors. Progranulin (PGRN) has complex functions in many physiological and pathological processes. Thus, this study aimed to report vitreous AREG and PGRN levels in patients with diabetes and proliferative retinopathy and compare the results with those without diabetes.Thirty-three eyes of 33 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy and 31 eyes of 31 patients without diabetes were included in this study. Vitreous humor samples were collected from all patients at the time of pars plana vitrectomy surgery immediately before the surgical procedure. Vitreous AREG and PGRN values were determined by the ELISA method. The mean AREG and PGRN values were similar in the groups (p=0.427, p=0.459, respectively). The results demonstrated that vitreous AREG and PGRN levels have no significant relationship with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

To compare the demographic, clinical, and radiological features of patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) accompanying familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) to patients with each condition alone.Hacettepe University Hospital database was screened regarding ICD-10 codes for FMF (E85.0) and axSpA (M45). The diagnosis of FMF was confirmed by Tel-Hashomer criteria, and axSpA by the presence of sacroiliitis according to the modified New York criteria or active sacroiliitis on magnetic resonance imaging. As control groups, 136 gender-matched, consequent FMF patients without axSpA and 102 consequent axSpA patients without FMF previously treated with any biological agents were included in the analysis. In patients with FMF + axSpA compared to the axSpA group, age at axSpA symptom onset and age at diagnosis were lower [median with interquartile range (IQR): 21 (17-30) vs 27 (21-37), p 0.001; 23 (21-38) vs 32 (24-43) years, p = 0.001], moderate to severe hip disease and total hip replacement were more prevalent (23.4% vs 4.7%, p 0.001; 11.2% vs 2.8%, p = 0.016). In patients with FMF + axSpA compared to the FMF group, age at FMF symptom onset and age at diagnosis were higher [13 (6-30) vs 11 (5-18), p = 0.057; 23 (13-33) vs 18 (10-31) years, p = 0.033] and amyloidosis was more prevalent (6.6% vs 2.2%, p = 0.076). Although the M694V variant (in one or two alleles) was more prevalent in the FMF + axSpA group, the difference was not statistically significant. In patients with FMF + axSpA, the age of onset of axSpA was significantly earlier, moderate to severe hip involvement and amyloidosis were more common than in patients with each condition alone.

OBJECTIVE Bioresorbable flow diverters (BRFDs) could significantly improve the performance of next-generation flow diverter technology. In the current work, magnesium and iron alloy BRFDs were prototyped and compared in terms of porosity/pore density, radial strength, flow diversion functionality, and resorption kinetics to offer insights into selecting the best available bioresorbable metal candidate for the BRFD application. METHODS BRFDs were constructed with braided wires made from alloys of magnesium (MgBRFD) or iron (FeBRFD). Pore density and crush resistance force were measured using established methods. BRFDs were deployed in silicone aneurysm models attached to flow loops to investigate flow diversion functionality and resorption kinetics in a simulated physiological environment. RESULTS The FeBRFD exhibited higher pore density (9.9 vs 4.3 pores/mm2) and crush resistance force (0.69 ± 0.05 vs 0.53 ± 0.05 N/cm, p = 0.0765, n = 3 per group) than the MgBRFD, although both crush resistances were within the range previously reported for FDA-approved flow diverters. The FeBRFD demonstrated greater flow diversion functionality than the MgBRFD, with significantly higher values of established flow diversion metrics (mean transit time 159.6 ± 11.9 vs 110.9 ± 1.6, p = 0.015; inverse washout slope 192.5 ± 9.0 vs 116.5 ± 1.5, p = 0.001; n = 3 per group; both metrics expressed as a percentage of the control condition). Last, the FeBRFD was able to maintain its braided structure for > 12 weeks, whereas the MgBRFD was almost completely resorbed after 5 weeks. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study demonstrated the ability to manufacture BRFDs with magnesium and iron alloys. The data suggest that the iron alloy is the superior material candidate for the BRFD application due to its higher mechanical strength and lower resorption rate relative to the magnesium alloy.

Otoacariasis is the presence of ticks and mites in the ear canals of humans or animals, and particularly common in rural areas. This study aimed to present the clinical characteristics of patients that presented with ticks in their ear canal. The study was conducted with a total of 425 patients with 527 ticks in their ear canal at the Muş Malazgirt State Hospital Ear-Nose-Throat Clinic between June 2019 and June 2020. The removed ticks were examined at the parasitology laboratory of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University.Of the 425 cases included in the study, 72% (n=306) were female and 28% (n=119) were male (mean age 40±20, minimum-maximum: 4 months-81 years). A total of 527 ticks were removed in the one-year period. Three-hundred-and-fifty-one patients had adult or nymph ticks, and 74 patients had a larval form of the tick. Of the patients with adult or nymph tick, foreign body sensation was the dominant symptom in 68.7% (n=242), whereas pain was the dominant symptom in 62% (n=46) of those with larval tick. In the comparison between groups, foreign body sensation was statistically significantly higher in the adult tick group, and pain was higher in the larval tick group (p0.001). There were no systemic diseases related to the ticks in any of the cases.Ticks in the ear is endemic in Eastern Anatolia and poses a public health problem. Tick infestations could be minimized with various precautions and educating the general public on preventive methods. Our study is the largest series in the literature on cases with ear ticks.

COVID-19; Haematology; Nirmatrelvir COVID-19; Hematología; Nirmatrelvir COVID-19; Hematologia; Nirmatrelvir Background Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment decreases the hospitalisation rate in immunocompetent patients with COVID-19, but data on efficacy in patients with haematological malignancy are scarce. Here, we describe the outcome of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment in a large cohort of the latter patients. Methods This is a retrospective cohort study from the multicentre EPICOVIDEHA registry (NCT04733729) on patients with haematological malignancy, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 between January and September 2022. Patients receiving nirmatrelvir/ritonavir were compared to those who did not. A logistic regression was run to determine factors associated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir administration in our sample. Mortality between treatment groups was assessed with Kaplan–Meier survival plots after matching all the patients with a propensity score. Additionally, a Cox regression was modelled to detect factors associated with mortality in patients receiving nirmatrelvir/ritonavir. Findings A total of 1859 patients were analysed, 117 (6%) were treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, 1742 (94%) were treated otherwise. Of 117 patients receiving nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, 80% had received ≥1 anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine dose before COVID-19 onset, 13% of which received a 2nd vaccine booster. 5% were admitted to ICU. Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment was associated with the presence of extrapulmonary symptoms at COVID-19 onset, for example anosmia, fever, rhinitis, or sinusitis (aOR 2.509, 95%CI 1.448–4.347) and 2nd vaccine booster (aOR 3.624, 95%CI 1.619–8.109). Chronic pulmonary disease (aOR 0.261, 95%CI 0.093–0.732) and obesity (aOR 0.105, 95%CI 0.014–0.776) were not associated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir use. After propensity score matching, day-30 mortality rate in patients treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir was 2%, significantly lower than in patients with SARS-CoV-2 directed treatment other than nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (11%, p = 0.036). No factor was observed explaining the mortality difference in patients after nirmatrelvir/ritonavir administration. Interpretation Haematological malignancy patients were more likely to receive nirmatrelvir/ritonavir when reporting extrapulmonary symptoms or 2nd vaccine booster at COVID-19 onset, as opposed to chronic pulmonary disease and obesity. The mortality rate in patients treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir was lower than in patients with targeted drugs other than nirmatrelvir/ritonavir. Software developers generally look at the performances of these tools when they select an ORM tool. Most of the performance studies on ORM tools are limited to processing time and RAM usage information, and CPU usage information is not included. Moreover, no ORM performance study has been found in the literature, conducted in .NET 6, which is an open-source and platform-independent new generation .NET platform. In this study, to close the mentioned gap in the literature and guide the software developers, we conduct research for analyzing performances of certain ORM tools in .NET 6. Our study includes CPU usage information as well as processing time and RAM usage information. We develop a software for measuring processing time, RAM and CPU usage while performing read, insert, update, delete, search and sort operations with Dapper, NHibernate and Entity Framework Core (EF Core) ORM tools. As a result, while Dapper is best in terms of processing time for read, delete, search and sort operations, EF Core has the best results for insert and update operations. We conclude that Dapper has the best performance in terms of resource usage, while the rankings of EF Core and NHibernate vary among themselves according to the number of records and operation type.

Ehrlichia canis is the primary etiologic agent of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis, a tick-transmitted disease of dogs. The aim of this study is to molecularly investigate the presence of E. canis and to reveal its prevalence in dogs in Siirt province. The animal material of the study is consisted of a total of 82 dogs. A region of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene of E. canis was targeted for PCR amplification. As a result of the conducted Nested-PCR, positivity was detected at the rate of 10.53% (4/38) in male dogs and 13.64% (6/44) in females, and Ehrlichia canis specific bands of size 389 bp were obtained in 10 (12.20%) dogs in total. The phylogenetic tree was constructed with the Maximum Likelihood (MCL) method, The nucleotide sequence was registered in the NCBI GenBank database with access numbers OK331365.1-OK331366. Early detection of the disease by means of hematological, serological, or molecular tests is very important in terms of prognosis. More studies should be performed to determine vector-disease relationships in this region about ticks that vector the disease.

The costs due to climate change have been increasing day by day. In addition to the risk of losing our planet’s natural assets due to the increasing destructiveness of climate-related natural disasters and extreme climate events, we are also faced with grave economic risks. For this reason, researchers have recently focused on environmental issues. Nevertheless, they generally have investigated developed countries and ignored developing and least developed countries such as African countries. The United Nations (2015) report highlights that African countries should be specially investigated. Hence, the paper analyzes whether the ecological footprint in the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) converges for the period from 1961 to 2017. We employ Bahmani-Oskooee et al.’s (2014) panel unit root test with sharp and smooth breaks. The empirical findings demonstrate that the ecological footprint is stationary in ECCAS and ECOWAS. Stated in other words, the ecological footprint in these countries converges. Therefore, policymakers could implement similar policies to reduce the ecological footprint in these countries. This policy framework paves the way for an effective sustainable development. WOS:000862233000004 Q2 PubMed ID : 36180802

BackgroundSuccessful recanalization after endovascular thrombectomy serves as the primary endpoint in clinical trials and is a crucial predictor of long-term outcomes. Radiographic outcomes for various interventions have been shown to vary based on the type of interpreter, including the site interventionalist compared with an independent reader.ObjectiveTo compare angiographic outcomes in stroke thrombectomy procedures based on the type of reader.MethodsA systematic literature search was conducted in Medline, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web-of-Science through February 2022. We included primary studies that reported core laboratory-read and operator angiographic outcomes after mechanical thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. Furthermore, study-defined successful recanalization data were collected.ResultsEight studies were included with 4797 patients, 51.2% of whom were male. Four thousand, four hundred and thirty-one patients had core readings, and 4211 had operator readings. Study-defined successful recanalization was significantly higher for operator (84%, 3543/4211) examinations than for core laboratory-read (78.4%, 3476/4431) examinations (pConclusionOperator angiographic reads are statistically significantly higher than core laboratory-read readings following stroke thrombectomy, especially for complete recanalization. These differences should be considered when interpreting reports of angiographic outcomes after thrombectomy.

Microwave imaging of breast cancer is considered and a new microwave imaging prototype including the imaging algorithm, the antenna array, and the measurement configuration is presented. The prototype aims to project the geometrical features of the anomalies inside the breast to a single-slice image at the coronal plane depending on the complex dielectric permittivity variation among the tissues to aid the diagnosis. The imaging prototype uses a solid cylindrical dielectric platform, where a total of 24 optimized Vivaldi antennas are embedded inside to form a uniform circular antenna array. The center of the platform is carved to create a hollow part for placement of the breast and the multistatic, microwave scattering parameters are collected with the antenna array around the hollow center. The dielectric platform further enhances the microwave impedance matching against the breast fat tissue and preserves the vertical polarization during the measurements. In the imaging phase, a computationally efficient inverse electromagnetic scattering method-reverse time migration (RTM)-is considered and adapted in terms of scattering parameters to comply with the actual measurements. The prototype system is experimentally tested against tissue-mimicking breast phantoms with realistic dielectric permittivity profiles. The reconstructed single-slice images accurately determined the locations and the geometrical extents of the tumor phantoms. These experiments not only verified the microwave imaging prototype but also provided the first experimental results of the imaging algorithm. The presented prototype system implementing the RTM method is capable of reconstructing single-slice, nonanatomical images, where the hotspots correspond to the geometrical projections of the anomalies inside the breast.

To evaluate the prognostic significance of the new index designed by formulating neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts in patients with metastatic disease receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and its effect on the immune-related adverse events (irAEs).Cohort study.Department of Medical Oncology, University of Manisa Celal Bayar, University of Aydin Adnan Menderes, and University of Ege, and Izmir Kent Hospital, Turkey, from January 2016 to April 2020.Patients with metastatic disease receiving ICI sufficient follow-up data were included. Patients, who had received treatment for a minimum of 3 months, were evaluated for the response. Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) was calculated as neutrophil (/L) × (lymphocyte (/L) / platelet (/L). The cut-off value was determined by examining the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for the SII value. The endpoints of this study included overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).A total of 168, patients who received ICI in the metastatic stage, were evaluated. The OS of the patients with low SII scores was 110.8 months (95% CI, 88.2-133.5), while patients with high SII scores were 36.0 months (95% CI, 28.4-43.6) and reached statistical significance (p0.001). The results of univariate (HR=3.376, 95% CI, 1.986-5.739, p0.001 and multivariate (HR=2.792, 95% CI, 1.495-5.215, p=0.011) analyses were statistically significant as well. The SII score in patients with metastatic disease receiving ICI was closely related to the prognosis. Patients with a high SII score are associated with a worse prognosis, these patients develop fewer irAEs.Systemic immune inflammation index, Overall survival, Progression-free survival, İmmune checkpoint inhibitor, Pembrolizumab, Nivolumab.

To determine the relationship of the presence and amount of vasogenic edema with origin, type, and grade of primary cancer.Cross-sectional study.Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital, Radiology Clinic, Ankara, Turkey, from July 2017 to October 2021.Brain MRI scans of 292 patients were retrospectively evaluated. Age, gender, origin, type, and grade of primary cancer were determined. Metastasis type, and presence of vasogenic edema accompanying metastatic lesion were questioned. In cases of vasogenic edema accompanying metastatic lesions, the largest diameter of the vasogenic edema mass complex was measured in T2 sequences. In the contrast-enhanced series, the largest diameter of the metastatic lesion was measured, and the edema-mass ratio (EMR) was calculated by proportioning the diameter of the edema mass complex to the diameter of the mass. The frequency of vasogenic edema was found higher in patients with lung cancer compared to other primaries. The EMR was found statistically significantly higher in patients with primary lung cancer (p=0.001). This was particularly evident in the adenocarcinoma group. In the patient group with primary breast cancer, EMR was found significantly lower in patients with invasive ductal carcinoma. (IDC→1.95±0.66 vs. Other→2.48±0.52, Z=-2.301, p=0.021).The amount and presence of vasogenic edema in patients with brain metastases may differ according to the origin and type of primary tumour.Brain edema, Metastatic disease, Magnetic resonance imaging.

Pastoral counseling is provided by The Religious Affairs Presidency in Turkey, to assist individuals in coping with challenges, unique to various modern places and situations utilizing religious references, similar to the other examples around the world. In this study, convicts’ experiences in pastoral counseling from Bursa H and E Type Penal Institutions are examined. The social capital of 18 inmates will be used as a lens to address these experiences. One of the qualitative study designs, phenomenology, has been chosen to expose the aforementioned framework. MAXQDA was used to code the data collected from one-on-one interviews, which were then submitted to content analysis. As a result, three major themes emerged. The first of them is the offenders' pre-prison social capital theme, which is divided into four categories: family, education, immigration, and past imprisonment. The second theme is social capital in prison, which is divided into seven categories: The decision to commit a crime, the adjustment process, everyday activities, contacts with the outside world, relationships with staff, labor branches, and training programs. The final theme in our research is pastoral counseling experience in the context of social capital, which is divided into three categories: functionality seeking, hoca discourse, and ward culture. Finally, it has been discovered that inmates generally experience prison services, particularly pastoral counseling, via the lens of profitloss calculations based on social capital.

Aims: In this multicenter study, the authors aimed to determine the real-life efficacy and safety of first-line alectinib. Materials & methods: This retrospective trial included advanced-stage, ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer patients who were treated with first-line alectinib in terms of ALK-tyrosine kinase inhibitors, regardless of previous chemotherapy. The co-primary end points were progression-free survival both for all patients and for the treatment-naive population. The secondary end points were overall response rate, overall survival, rate of CNS progression and safety. Results & conclusion: A total of 274 patients (n = 177 for treatment-naive patients) were enrolled in the study. The median progression-free survival was 26 and 28.8 months for all patients and the treatment-naive group, respectively. The overall response rate, CNS progression rate and 1-year overall survival ratio were 77.9, 12.4 and 77%. Alectinib is a highly effective therapy with a favorable safety profile. Plain language summary The advancements in cancer treatment, particularly in the last two decades, have been promising. Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most important diseases experiencing these promising developments. ALK positivity, which is caused by the rearrangement of different gene fragments between two chromosomes, affects about 5% of NSCLC patients. This provides a target for next-generation therapies. One of these targeted therapy drugs is alectinib. The authors examined the outcomes of 271 patients with body-disseminated NSCLC who received alectinib as initial targeted therapy. These patients were not chosen to participate in a clinical phase study. They were treated with an approved drug; the study also included 97 patients who had previously received chemotherapy. The median duration of survival without disease worsening was 26 months for all patients receiving alectinib treatment. This value was 28.8 months in 177 patients who had not received any treatment before alectinib. Regardless of disease status, 77% of all patients were found to be alive at the end of the first year. Alectinib treatment resulted in a significant improvement of the disease in approximately four out of five patients. The treatment's side effects were generally tolerable or manageable. Only four patients were reported to have discontinued their medication due to treatment-related side effects. These real-world findings are compatible with previous clinical research. Alectinib is an important first-line treatment option for patients with advanced, ALK-positive NSCLC. 35734870

The utilization of powdered photocatalysts can cause problems such as agglomeration and difficulty in separation in conventional applications. In this work, deposition of photocatalyst particles on a co-polymeric network was suggested to solve this issue. For this purpose, ferrite type perovskite BiFeO3 particles were immobilized on the sulphonated polystyrene-divinyl benzene seeds via a facile impregnation process and the heterostructured catalyst (BFO@co-STR/DVB) exhibited boosted removal performance towards tetracycline antibiotic. The co-polymer itself showed attractive adsorption (93% removal) towards tetracycline due to the robust π–π stacking or hydrophobic relationship. The photocatalytic performance of optimal BFO@co-STR/DVB catalyst had the greatest value of apparent rate constant (0.037 min-1), which was 6.16 times higher than that for bare BiFeO3 (0.006 min-1). Moreover, the heterostructured photocatalyst displayed the highest catalytic efficiency as 98.5% which was mainly assigned to the synergetic effect of adsorption and photocatalysis. Therefore, detailed adsorption mechanism was examined by applying three kinetic models and the pseudo-second order model (qe=88.9 mg/g; R2=0.993) was fitted well describing well the adsorption. The impact of perovskite amount on the polymer structure was also investigated. Apart from tetracycline molecule, the photocatalytic activity of the heterostructured catalyst with respect to different pharmaceutical (isoniazid) was also investigated and the adsorptive removal of isoniazid over the co-STR/DVB polymer was calculated as 80.0% while it significantly increased to 98.2% in the BFO@co-STR/DVB photocatalytic system. This study demonstrated the effective utilization of the perovskite deposited co-polymeric network in the field of “photocatalysis”.

The study was carried out to evaluate the combining ability and heterosis of seven parents and their 21 half-diallel F2 populations for yield and quality traits during the 2013-14 season in the randomized complete block design with three replications. Significant differences were observed among the genotypes, GCA (general combining ability) and SCA (specific combining ability) effects for all traits, except spike length. The best combiner parents were identified as Esperia and Pehlivan for grain yield, and Flamura85, Aldane and Selimiye for quality traits because of significant GCA and per se performance. The ranges of best parent heterosis were -12.71 to 8.23% for plant height, -15.46 to 8.36% for spike length, -16.62 to 24.80% for number of grains per spike, -23.61 to 36.50% for grain weight per spike, -17.13 to 8.84% for harvest index and -44.26 to 15.83 for grain yield, -17.61 to 8.38% for thousand grain weight, -18.55 to 8.44% for wet gluten content, -33.80 to 24.78% for gluten index, -20.24 to 15.23% for Zeleny sedimentation value, -15.58 to 10.00% for quality index and -8.96 to 6.87 for grain protein content. The three (Slm/Phl, F85/Slm and F85/Esp) and seven (F85/Phl, Sb/Fs, Fs/Slm, Esp/Slm, Fs/Phl, Esp/Sb and Sb/Slm) of F2 populations are offered a good opportunity in base material for selection of potential because of significant SCA effects and best parent heterosis for grain yield and quality traits respectively.

Objective The pituitary gland is responsible for hormonal balance in the body, and disruption of hormonal balance in patients with pituitary adenoma (PA) indirectly affects the quality of life. This study aimed to examine the effects of yoga and combined aerobic and strength training (A+ST) on quality of life and related parameters such as sleep, fatigue, emotional state, sexual function, and cognitive status in women with PA. Design Ten women with PA were included in this randomized crossover study. Group 1 (n = 5, mean age: 52 ± 13.5 years) received A+ST for the first 6 weeks, a 2-week washout period, and yoga for the second 6 weeks. Group 2 (n = 5, mean age: 41.8 ± 14 years) received the yoga program first, followed by the A+ST program. Methods Participants were assessed using the following tools before and after each exercise intervention: Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–Brain (FACT-Br) (quality of life), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index, Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MOCA). Results FACT-Br scores were higher after the yoga program, HADS anxiety score was lower after the A+ST program, and MOCA scores increased after both exercise programs (P < 0.05). FSS score decreased after both exercise programs, but not significantly. In addition, nonsignificant decreases in HADS anxiety and depression scores and increased FSFI scores were observed after the yoga program. Conclusion A+ST and yoga have positive effects on the quality of life in PA. We recommend yoga and A+ST as a supportive therapy for this population that may face comorbidities after surgical and medical treatment. Our results indicate these patients may benefit from physiotherapist-guided exercise programs.

The use of flow diverters is a rapidly growing endovascular approach for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. All FDA-approved flow diverters are composed of nitinol or cobalt-chromium, which will remain in the patient for the duration of their life. Bioresorbable flow diverters have been proposed by several independent investigators as the next generation of flow diverting devices. These devices aim to serve their transient function of occluding and healing the aneurysm prior to being safely resorbed by the body, eliminating complications associated with the permanent presence of conventional flow diverters. Theoretical advantages of bioresorbable flow diverters include (1) reduction in device-induced thrombosis; (2) reduction in chronic inflammation and device-induced stenosis; (3) reduction in side branch occlusion; (4) restoration of physiological vasomotor function; (5) reduction in imaging artifacts; and (6) use in pediatric applications. Advances made in the similar bioresorbable coronary stenting field highlight some of these advantages and demonstrate the feasibility and safety of bioresorbable endovascular devices in the clinic. The current work aims to review the progress of bioresorbable flow diverters, identify opportunities for further investigation, and ultimately stimulate the advancement of this technology.

Background/aim: to evaluate treatment adherence and predictors of drug discontinuation among patients with inflammatory arthritis receiving bDMARDs within the first 100 days after the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods: a total of 1871 patients recorded in TReasure registry for whom advanced therapy was prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or spondyloarthritis (SpA) within the 3 months (6-9 months for rituximab) before the declaration of COVID-19 pandemic were evaluated, and 1394 (74.5%) responded to the phone survey. Patients' data regarding demographic, clinical characteristics and disease activity before the pandemic were recorded. The patients were inquired about the diagnosis of COVID-19, the rate of continuation on bDMARDs, the reasons for treatment discontinuation, if any, and the current general disease activity (visual analog scale, [VAS]). Results: a total of 1394 patients (493 RA [47.3% on anti-TNF] patients and 901 SpA [90.0% on anti-TNF] patients) were included in the study. Overall, 2.8% of the patients had symptoms suggesting COVID-19, and 2 (0.15%) patients had PCR-confirmed COVID-19. Overall, 18.1% of all patients (13.8% of the RA and 20.5% of the SpA; p = 0.003) discontinued their bDMARDs. In the SpA group, the patients who discontinued bDMARDs were younger (40 [21-73] vs. 44 years [20-79]; p = 0.005) and had higher general disease activity; however, no difference was relevant for RA patients. Conclusion: although the COVID-19 was quite uncommon in the first 100 days of the pandemic, nearly one-fifth of the patients discontinued bDMARDs within this period. The long-term effects of the pandemic should be monitored., Hacettepe Rheumatology Society
