Visualization of infrared radiation of Tm:YLF-laser at the wavelength of 1908 nm has been investigated in the glass and ceramics samples with compositions of 53ZrF · 20 BaF · 1HoF · 3YbF · 3AlF · 20NaF and 53ZrF · 20BaF · 3LaF · 1HoF · 3AlF · 20NaF (mol %). In luminescence spectra of ZBLAN samples doped with Но, the bands at the wavelengths of 480, 540, and 650 nm were observed, which correspond to F → I , S , F → I , and F → I electron transitions in Но ions with the maximum intensity of the red band (650 nm). Occupancy of the S and F levels in the ZBLAN: 1% Но samples is related to the sequential absorption of the exciting radiation quanta. The level of F is filled mainly due to the ionic interaction. Additional doping with the Yb ions led to the change of the luminescence color to green and a decrease in the threshold radiation power density of the Tm:YLF-laser in ceramic samples up to 2 W/cm. It is suggested to use sodium hexametaphosphate as a new glass-forming agent for tellurite glasses. The limits of the glass-forming region were determined for the TeO2-(NaPO3)6 system, and a selective study of the thermal behavior of the glasses synthesized was carried out by the method differential scanning calorimetry. The optical transmission in the UV, visible, and IR spectral ranges was examined. It was shown that oxides of rare-earth elements can be introduced into the glass, which opens up prospects for application of the system as a matrix for generation of laser light in the 2-μm range, required in fabrication of medical lasers. Two- and three-component TeO2-based glasses prepared by melting appropriate oxide mixtures, followed by cooling or casting, are characterized by laser ultramicroscopy. The results demonstrate that the glasses contain microinhomogeneities 0.07–0.2 µm in size at a level of 103 to 106 cm−3. Experimental results are presented that lead to the conclusion that new laser systems and elements of fiber-optic communication lines can in principle be made on the basis of the material studied here, which have new spectroscopic characteristics. The effect studied in this paper is the following: an increase in the luminescence efficiency with frequency upconversion for threeelement doping; this is a novel finding and has no analog.
