The article presents a study which evaluates the performance of surgical trainees in performing porcine segmental colectomy. Twenty-three postgraduate trainees from Case Western Reserve University were evaluated, of which 20 have a background in general surgery, two on plastic surgery, and one on urology and 10 were year two graduates, nine in year three, and four in year four. It shows that year two trainees achieved lower scores than years three and four trainees who both acquired same scores.
