Granulomas consisted of mononuclear elements of different size, and fell into the following three basic categories: 1. phagocytic type of epitheloid cells with multiple tiny phagolysosomal-type dense bodies, 2. epitheloid cells without phagolysosomal apparatus, 3. macrophages with larger phagolysosome sporadically containing particles reminiscent of residua of partially "digested" bacteria. Isolated malacoplakic bodies were found in elements of this type. The findings are examined in the discussion section.

The sequelae of the permanently reduced blood flow through the testes of rats, in which stenosis of the abdominal aorta had been produced by inserting an incomplete ligature between the two renal arteries, were studied. In a high proportion of animals, spermatic granulomas occurred unilaterally or bilaterally in the epididymides. Their development was proceded by an ischemic injury; the contents of the canaliculi penetrated into the interstitium, producing a marked macrophagic reaction, which developed after the 5th day. Simultaneously, ischemic lesions were observed in the testes.

A new case of Erdheim-Chester lipoid granulomatosis is described in a 40-year-old man. In this lipid storage disease, characteristic symmetrical osteosclerotic areas are observed mainly in metadiaphyses of long tubular bones. Bone biopsy is mandatory for definite diagnosis, although characteristic radiographic pictures often provide an important clue to the correct diagnosis.
