The article investigates the variations in breeding of Arctic Terns (Sterna paradisaea) among colonies in Arctic and High-arctic Greenland. Studies of between-year variations of colonies indicate that local movement between colonies took place and annual variation was linked to local rather than large scale phenomena such as predation by Arctic fox recorded in two breeding seasons. It suggests that future monitoring be done on multiple colonies within the same season or one large colony over multiple years to obtain a more accurate population picture.
