Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a associação entre estilo de vida e nível socioeconômico com o desempenho esportivo de atletas amadores de voleibol. Participaram do estudo 216 atletas que responderam o Questionário Fantastic - Estilo de vida e o Questionário de nível socioeconômico. Para análise dos dados foi utilizada a análise estatística descritiva (média e desvio padrão) e o Teste t de student para a comparação entre medalhistas e não-medalhistas. A análise de regressão logística simples foi realizada para verificar a associação entre o estilo de vida e o nível socioeconômico com o desempenho final dos atletas amadores. Os resultados indicaram os domínios do estilo que vida que apresentaram diferenças significativas entre medalhistas e não medalhistas foram o nível de atividade física, a qualidade da nutrição, o uso de tabaco, o uso álcool além da classificação geral do estilo de vida. Os atletas medalhistas possuíam um estilo de vida e nível socioeconômico mais elevado que os não medalhistas. Conclui-se que os atletas amadores medalhistas foram descritos um estilo de vida e nível socioeconômico melhor em comparação aos não medalhistas, mas apenas o estilo de vida foi preditor do desempenho dos atletas final na liga amadora de voleibol. ABSTRACT People living with HIV (PLH), who use antiretroviral therapy (ART), are more susceptible to changes in the inflammatory profile and oxidative stress, and women have greater access to ART. Although physical exercise is a complementary strategy to treatment due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, it is not clear whether acute responses to exercise can be harmful to PLH. The aim of the study was to investigate the acute effect of resistance exercise (RE) on inflammatory and oxidative stress markers in PLH. Ten women, using ART, performed RE session consisting of seven exercises for the whole body. For biochemical evaluation, blood samples were collected before (pre), 1 hour (1h) and 2 hours (2h) after the RE session. One-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni's post hoc test was used to compare results between time points. There was an increase only in markers, GSSG of 160% (pre: 0.40 ± 0.11; 1h: 1.18 ± 0.36; 2h: 1.04 ± 0.25 mmol/g), TNF-α of 98 % (pre: 4.60 ± 0.55; 1h: 6.95 ± 0.77; 2h: 9.10 ± 1.03 pg/ml) and 52% IL-6 (pre: 2.47 ± 0 .67; 1h: 3.63 ± 1.26; 2h: 5.38 ± 2.15 pg/ml). The other variables remained unchanged (P > 0.05). It is concluded that a RE session increased the levels of inflammatory markers and oxidative stress in PLH in a non-exacerbated way.

Introduction: Physical activity is enhanced by optimal nutrition. The professional physical educators are in direct contact with students, clients and tend to guide them nutritionally; even this is not their duties. The research aimed to evaluate the knowledge on nutrition for physical educators and professionals providing nutrition guidelines for the same. Methods: Cross-sectional study with 30 professional physical educators aged between 21 and 37 years. Nutritional status was assessed using the percentage of body fat (%BF). The assessment of food consumption was obtained by the usual food diary. The nutritional knowledge and possible nutritional guidelines was evaluated by a specific questionnaire. Results: According to GC were classified 30% (n = 9) as healthy individuals and 40% (n = 12) as overweight and obesity. The food consumption of groups of fruits, vegetables and milk and dairy products did not meet the minimum recommendations and consumption of protein foods than the recommendation. In the assessment of knowledge and indications for supplementation, 77 % of participants scored between 50 and 66 % correct and 60 % of professionals are indications for supplementation to their students even though this is not one of his duties, unless they enable to such. Conclusion: It was found that professional physical educators mostly had a diagnosis of normal weight, food intake was not adequate and nutritional knowledge, most achieved above 50 % accuracy and also perform indication supplementation.

Thirty-five apparently healthy women (20.1±2.2 years) were submitted to each one of the tests at an interval of48 hours in a random balanced design. Most individuals performed between 0 an d 10 repetitions (86%) of the MPU test, and approximately 17% did not perform even one repetitions. On the other hand, the highest prevalence of outcomes for the FKPUtest was between 16 and 35 repetitions (71%). The Wilcoxon test identified statistically significant differences (p MPU). A moderate agreement (kappa =0.40) was found between the performance in both tests. Negative correlations of low magnitude (r=-0.23 to 0.46) were found between morphological variables (body weight,height, fat mass, and lean body mass) and motor performance in both tests. The results suggest that the FKPU test is presented as a better indicator ofmuscular endurance levels, where as the MPU test seems to better discriminate muscular strength in young women.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar os efeitos ergogênicos da ingestão de cafeína, sobre o desempenho motor de atletas de judô feminino. Participaram do estudo 13 atletas do sexo feminino (17,6 ± 1,6 anos, 58,3 ± 11,4 kg, 162 ± 4,1 cm, 22,5 ± 4 kg/m²), vinculadas à Federação Paranaense de Judô, por pelo menos dois anos. O desempenho motor foi avaliado mediante a utilização do Special Judô Fitness Test (SJFT), a partir do qual foi analisado o número de arremessos em cada bloco, número total de arremessos, frequência cardíaca (FC) final e de recuperação e o índice no SJFT. Os sujeitos foram testados em duas condições, após ingestão de cafeína (6 mg.kg-1) ou placebo (dextrose) 60 minutos antes dos testes, em um delineamento duplo-cego, cruzado. O número de arremessos em cada bloco não diferiu entre as condições cafeína (CAF) e placebo (PL) (Bloco A: 4,53 ± 0,51 CAF e 4,46 ± 0,51 PL; Bloco B: 8,3 ± 0,63 CAF e 8,23 ± 0,72 PL; Bloco C: 7,23 ± 0,59 CAF e 7,46 ± 0,77 PL), bem como o número total de arremessos (20,07 ± 1,18 CAF e 20,15 ± 1,67 PL), FC (Final: 190,3 ± 9,63 bpm CAF e 190,69 ± 9,19 bpm PL; Recuperação: 162,07 ± 13,78 bpm CAF e 164,3 ± 9,64 bpm PL) e índice no SJFT (17,59 ± 1,4 CAF e 17,75 ± 1,98 PL). A ingestão de cafeína não melhorou o desempenho durante atividade de alta intensidade e curta duração em lutadores de judô.The objective of this study was to investigate the ergogenic effects of caffeine on motor performance of judo female athletes. Thirteen female athletes (17.6 ± 1.6 years, 58.3 ± 11.4 kg, 162 ± 4.1 cm, 22.5 ± 4 kg/m²), registered in the State Federation of Judo for at least two years, participated in this study. The motor performance was assessed using the Special Judo Fitness Test (SJFT), from which was considered the number of throws in each block, the total number of throws, recovery and final heart rate (HR) and final score in SJFT. The subjects were tested in two different conditions, after ingestion of gelatin capsules of caffeine (6 mg.kg-1) or placebo (dextrose) 60 minutes before testing in a randomized double-blind, crossover study. The number of throws in each block did not differs between the caffeine (CAF) and placebo (PL) conditions (Block A: 4.53 ± 0.51 CAF and 4.46 ± 0.51 PL; Block B: 8.3 ± 0.63 CAF and 8.23 ± 0.72 PL; Block C: 7.23 ± 0.59 CAF and 7.46 ± 0.77 PL), as well as the total number of throws (20.07 ± 1.18 CAF and 20.15 ± 1.67 PL), HR (Final: 190.3 ± 9.63 bpm CAF and 190.69 ± 9.19 bpm PL; Recovery 162.07 ± 13.78 bpm CAF and 164.3 ± 9.64 bpm PL) and final score in SJFT (17.59 ± 1.4 CAF and 17.75 ± 1.98 PL).
