Background Complement component 3 glomerulopathy (C3G) is a disease with limited data in children. We aimed to compare childhood C3G cases with adults. We also studied subgroups of pediatric C3G and predictors of poor outcome. Methods This is a 12-year retrospective, single-center cohort, observational study. All cases of C3G were defined based on the 2013 consensus guidelines. Results C3G was diagnosed in 162 patients (119 adults, 43 pediatric) predominantly affecting males. With varied light microscopic patterns, pediatric C3G cases were categorized as follows: 23 C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN) and 11 dense deposit disease (DDD) on electron microscopy. The pediatric DDD patients were relatively younger with more severe disease at presentation (more crescents in biopsy) but with lesser chronicity in biopsy compared with pediatric C3GN patients; however, both had a similar outcome. On comparing pediatric and adult C3G cases, adults had lower median eGFR and a higher degree of chronicity in the biopsy. The prognosis of C3G was better in pediatric patients. Predictors of kidney failure in pediatric C3G were low eGFR (HR = 0.82, p = 0.05) and severe interstitial fibrosis/tubular atrophy (HR = 1.05, p = 0.02). Conclusions Electron microscopy-based subgroups of pediatric C3G differ in clinical presentation and course of the disease but have similar prognosis and long-term outcomes. Background Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is the preferred modality of dialysis among children with end-stage renal disease. Methods To study the incidence of technique failure and survival among children with end-stage renal disease on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), we included children younger than 18 years of age who commenced and continued PD for more than 3 months as their primary form of dialysis between 1st January 2005 and 31st December 2016. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was applied to analyze the CAPD outcomes. Results A total of 68 Tenckhoff (58 double cuffs, and ten single cuffs) catheters were inserted in 66 patients (mean age 12.3 ± 3.91 years) during the study period. Of the 66 children, 31 (47%) experienced 45 episodes of peritonitis. The total duration on CAPD was 107.58 years with a peritonitis rate of 0.42 episodes per year. Overall, the mean patient survival was 41 (95% confidence interval (CI) 29-54) months, with mean patient survival of 72% at 12 months, declining to 30% at 36 months and then remaining stable until the end of follow-up (106 months). The overall mean technique survival was 55 (95% CI 40-69) months, with mean technique survival of 69% at 12 months, declining to 44% at 36 months and then remaining stable until the end of follow-up (106 months). Introduction: Cancer impacts not only people living with cancer but also their caregivers. In hospital, caregivers always have pressure on them and their personal and private lives are disrupted during the caring process. Aim: To identify the various factors affecting the Quality Of Life (QOL) among caregivers of cancer patients. Materials and Methods: This quantitative study with an exploratory research design was conducted in oncology Outpatient Department (OPD) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh, India, from November 2019 to February 2020. A total of 256 caregivers of cancer patients, who were visiting various oncology units were included. Data regarding caregiver's sample characteristics, clinical variables and caregiver's Oncology Quality of Life questionnaire (CarGOQoL) were collected. Statistical analysis was done using Chi-square test and Fisher-exact tests were used to study variables. Results: Majority, 94 (37%) belonged to 41-50 years age group, 143 (56%) were females, and 142 (56%) lived in rural areas. Patients' diagnoses were breast cancer in 94 (37%), Stage-III in 133 (52%), symptoms lasting more than 6-12 months in 103 (40%), and were partial dependent in 172 (67%). A total of 123 (48%) of caregivers scored less in the CarGOQoL questionnaire, so about half of the caregivers had a poor QOL. Caregiver coping (43%) and the private life domain were enormously affected in 193 (37%). Significant relationships with caregivers' QOL were seen for variables like female gender (p-value=0.037), educational level of patients (p-value=0.018), caregivers with co-morbidities (p-value=0.05), and the number of earning members in the family (p-value=0.022). Conclusion: Care burden always has an impact on the caregiver's overall QOL. It mainly affected their psychological well-being, burdens, and private lives.
