The CGHS black hole has a spectrum and temperature that corresponds to an accelerated reflecting boundary condition in flat spacetime. The beta coefficients are identical to a moving mirror model where the acceleration is exponential in laboratory time. The center and the event horizon of the black hole are at the same location modeled by the perfectly reflecting regularity condition that red-shifts the field modes. In addition to computing the energy flux, we find the corresponding parameter associated with the black hole mass and the cosmological constant in the gravitational analog system. Generalized to any mirror trajectory we derive the self-force (Lorentz-Abraham-Dirac) and express it and the power (Larmor) in connection with entanglement entropy, inviting an interpretation of acceleration radiation in terms of information flow. A complex order parameter is used for describing inhomogeneous quark condensate and its phase is decomposed into a regular part and a singular part. An emergent gauge symmetry is found to connect these two parts. We consider a relativistic two-fluid model of superfluidity, in which the superfluid is described by an order parameter that is a complex scalar field satisfying the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation (NLKG). The coupling to the normal fluid is introduced via a covariant current-current interaction, which results in the addition of an effective potential, whose imaginary part describes particle transfer between superfluid and normal fluid. Quantized vorticity arises in a class of singular solutions and the related vortex dynamics is incorporated in the modified NLKG, facilitating numerical analysis which is usually very complicated in the phenomenology of vortex filaments. The dual transformation to a string theory description (Kalb-Ramond) of quantum vorticity, the Magnus force and the mutual friction between quantized vortices and normal fluid are also studied., Comment: 20 pages, no figure

In this work, we propose a cosmological scenario inherently based on the effective Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model that cosmic inflation and dark matter can be successfully described by a single framework. On the one hand, the scalar channel of the NJL model plays a role of the composite inflaton (CI) and we show that it is viable to achieve successful inflation via a non-minimal coupling to gravity. For model of inflation, we compute the inflationary parameters and confront them with recent Planck 2015 data. We discover that the predictions of the model are in excellent agreement with the Planck analysis. We also present in our model a simple connection of physics from the high scales to low scales via renormalization group equations of the physical parameters. On the other hand, the pseudoscalar channel can be assigned as a candidate for composite dark matter (CD). For model of dark matter, we couple the pseudoscalar to the Higgs sector of the standard model with the coupling strength $\kappa$ and estimate its thermally-averaged relic abundance. We discover that the CD mass is strongly sensitive to the coupling $\kappa$. We find in case of light CD, $M_{s} M_{W,\,Z}$ (or $>M_{h}$), the required relic abundance can be satisfied for value of the CD mass $M_{s}\sim 410\,{\rm GeV}$ for $\kappa = 0.5$. We study a new composite scenario of the lepton sector in the Standard Model by a de-gauging procedure called spin-charge separation and propose that leptons are bound states of some neutral fermions and Higgs bosons. Continuing this procedure we may obtain more fundamental dark fermions. We introduce the spin-charge separation mechanism to the quark-lepton unification models which consider the lepton number as the fourth color. In certain finite-density systems, quarks and leptons are decomposed into spinons and chargons, which carry the spin and charge degrees of freedom respectively. Neutrinos can be related to the spinons with respect to the electric-charge and spin separation in the early universe or other circumstances. Some effective, probably universal couplings between the spinon sector and the chargon sector are derived and a phenomenological description for the chargon condensate is proposed. It is then demonstrated that the spinon current can induce vorticity in the chargon condensate, and spinon zero modes are trapped in the vortices, forming spinon-vortex bound states. We propose an axionic QCD string scenario based on the original flux-tube model by Kogut and Susskind, and then incorporate it into a gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. Axial anomaly is studied by a new topological coupling from the string side, and by the 't Hooft vortex from the NJL side, respectively. We investigate superfluidity, and the mechanism for creation of quantized vortices, in the relativistic regime. The general framework is a nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in curved spacetime for a complex scalar field, whose phase dynamics gives rise to superfluidity. The mechanisms discussed are local inertial forces (Coriolis and centrifugal), and current-current interaction with an external source. The primary application is to cosmology, but we also discuss the reduction to the non-relativistic nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation, which is widely used in describing superfluidity and vorticity in liquid helium and cold-trapped atomic gases., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures. We consider superfluidity and quantum vorticity in rotating spacetimes. The system is described by a complex scalar satisfying a nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. Rotation terms are identified and found to lead to the transfer of angular momentum of the spacetime to the scalar field. The scalar field responds by rotating, physically behaving as a superfluid, through the creation of quantized vortices. We propose a new topological charge term in QCD based on flux-tube models. It couples a superflow of the phase of the quark condensate to the Chern-Simons current. The usual $\theta$-parameter is replaced by the phase of the quark condensate, which becomes nontrivial due to the existence of topological defects such as vortices. This new formulation can address the U(1) problem in a similar way as in the $\theta$-world and may avoid the strong CP problem as the new topological charge term is a derivative coupling. We develop a theory of dark matter based on a previously proposed picture, in which a complex vacuum scalar field makes the universe a superfluid, with the energy density of the superfluid giving rise to dark energy, and variations from vacuum density giving rise to dark matter. We formulate a nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation to describe the superfluid, treating galaxies as external sources. We study the response of the superfluid to the galaxies, in particular, the emergence of the dark-matter galactic halo, contortions during galaxy collisions, and the creation of vortices due to galactic rotation., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures. We apply the Callan-Harvey anomaly inflow mechanism to the study of QCD (chromoelectric) flux tubes, quark (pair)-creation and chiral magnetic effect, using new variables from the Cho-Faddeev-Niemi decomposition of the gauge potential. A phenomenological description of chromoelectric flux tubes is obtained by studying a gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio effective Lagrangian, derived from the original QCD Lagrangian. At the quantum level, quark condensates in the QCD vacuum may form a vortex-like structure in a chromoelectric flux tube. Quark zero modes trapped in the vortex are chiral and lead to a two-dimensional gauge anomaly. We study the membrane-like structure of topological charge density and its fluctuations in the QCD vacuum. Quark zero modes are localized on the membranes and the resultant gauge anomaly is cancelled by the gauge variation of a Chern-Simons type effective action in the bulk via the anomaly inflow mechanism. The coupling between brane fluctuations, described by the rotations of its normal vector, and the Chern-Simons current provides the needed anomaly inflow to the membrane. This coupling is also related to the axial U(1) anomaly which can induce brane punctures, and consequently quark-antiquark annihilation across the brane. Large $N_c$ and holographic arguments, as well as Monte Carlo results, suggest that the topological structure of the QCD vacuum is dominated by codimension-one membranes which appear as thin dipole layers of topological charge. Such membranes arise naturally as $D6$ branes in the holographic formulation of QCD based on IIA string theory. The polarizability of these membranes leads to a vacuum energy $\propto \theta^2$, providing the origin of nonzero topological susceptibility. Here we show that the axial U(1) anomaly can be formulated as anomaly inflow on the brane surfaces. A 4D gauge transformation at the brane surface separates into a 3D gauge transformation of components within the brane and the transformation of the transverse component. The in-brane gauge transformation induces currents of an effective Chern-Simons theory on the brane surface, while the transformation of the transverse component describes the transverse motion of the brane and is related to the Ramond-Ramond closed string field in the holographic formulation of QCD. We use N=1 superspace to construct the supersymmetric matter couplings of vector and hyper multiplets in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime background. For hypermultiplets, we find that AdS_5 supersymmetry requires the scalar fields to lie on a hyper-Kahler manifold endowed with a certain type of holomorphic Killing vector., Comment: 8 pages. The Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto construction of holographic QCD in terms of D4 color branes and D8 flavor branes in type IIA string theory is used to investigate the role of topological charge in the chiral dynamics of quarks in QCD. The QCD theta term arises from a compactified 5-dimensional Chern-Simons term on the D4 branes. This term couples the QCD topological charge to the Ramond-Ramond $U(1)$ gauge field of IIA string theory. The nonzero topological susceptibility of pure-glue QCD can be attributed to the presence of D6 branes, which constitute magnetic sources of the RR gauge field. The topological charge of QCD is required, by an anomaly inflow argument, to coincide in space-time with the intersection of the D6 branes and the D4 color branes. This clarifies the relation between D6 branes and the coherent, codimension-one topological charge membranes observed in QCD Monte Carlo calculations. Using open-string/closed-string duality, we interpret a quark loop (represented by a D4-D8 open string loop) in terms of closed-string exchange between color and flavor branes. The role of the RR gauge field in quark-antiquark annihilation processes is discussed. RR exchange in the s-channel generates a 4-quark contact term which produces an $\eta'$ mass insertion and provides an explanation for the observed spin-parity structure of the OZI rule. The $(\log {\rm Det\;U})^2$ form of the $U(1)$ anomaly emerges naturally. RR exchange in the t-channel of the $q\overline{q}$ scattering amplitude produces a Nambu-Jona Lasinio interaction which may provide a mechanism for spontaneous breaking of $SU(N_f)\times SU(N_f)$., Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures

At the TeV scale, heavy quarks, for example the 4th generation quarks of the Standard Model with four generations, can form condensates which dynamically break the electroweak symmetry. A dense quark system may form other types of condensates which dynamically break the Lorentz symmetry. These condensates are described by a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio type effective action, similar to the quark condensation models in hadronic matter with finite density. The vacua corresponding to these two types of condensates compete for the global minimum of the effective potential, depending on the energy scale and the related strong dynamics. In the Standard Model with four generations, the two-loop renormalization group equations for the Higgs quartic and Yukawa couplings have a fixed point structure. If the masses of the fourth family are sufficiently heavy, it will contain a natural scale $\Lambda_{FP}$ in the range of a few TeV to the order of $10^2$ TeV, above which the Higgs quartic and Yukawa couplings become practically constant. We found that around $\Lambda_{FP}$ the strong Yukawa couplings make it possible for the fourth generation to form bound states, including composite extra Higgs doublets. It has been shown in a recent paper that the Higgs quartic and Yukawa sectors of the Standard Model (SM) with a heavy fourth generation exhibit at a two-loop level a quasi fixed point structure instead of the one-loop Landau singularity and which could be located in the TeV region, a scale which is denoted by $\Lambda_{FP} $ in this paper. This provides the possibility of the existence of a TeV-scale physical cutoff endowed with several implications. In the vicinity of this quasi fixed point bound states and Higgs-like condensates made up of the 4th generation quarks and leptons get formed. It implies the possibility of a dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking generated by 4th generation condensates. A Kaluza-Klein decomposition of higher dimensional gravity is performed in the flexible brane world scenario and the properties of the extra vectors resulting from this decomposition are explored. These vectors become massive due to a gravitational Higgs mechanism in which the brane oscillation Nambu-Goldstone bosons become the longitudinal component of the vector fields. The vector mass is found to be proportional to the exponential of the vacuum expectation value of the radion (dilaton) field and as such its magnitude is model dependent. Using the structure of the embedding geometry, the couplings of these vectors to the Standard Model, including those resulting from the extrinsic curvature, are deduced. As an example, we show that for 5D space-time the geometry of the bulk-brane world, either intrinsic or extrinsic, only depends on the extra vector and the 4D graviton.
