In the highly competitive environment of the high-tech industry, leadership roles are often filled with numerous challenges and stressors. Success in the workforce requires a combination of high emotional intelligence and a connection to workplace spirituality. This study aimed to compare demographic differences among high-tech leaders regarding emotional intelligence, workplace spirituality, and career success. It also sought to examine the relationships and effects of emotional intelligence and workplace spirituality on career success, as well as the moderating role of workplace spirituality in these relationships. A survey was conducted with 139 leaders from various high-tech companies in Taiwan. The results showed that male leaders demonstrated higher levels of self-awareness and self-motivation in emotional intelligence, while leaders with higher education levels exhibited greater self-awareness and empathy. Additionally, both emotional intelligence and workplace spirituality were significant predictors of career success. Notably, workplace spirituality moderated the relationship between emotional intelligence and career success. The implications of this study highlight the importance of enhancing emotional intelligence and workplace spirituality to foster leaders' career success and gain a competitive advantage in the high-tech industry. The high-tech industry plays an important role in promoting the upgrading of industrial structures. Its innovation activities show an obvious two-system structure. To promote co-development and improve industrial competitiveness, it is essential to examine the efficiency and measure the coupling coordination degree between two systems. With this regard, we first measure the relative efficiency using nonparametric technologies under different specifications of each system. Second, the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree between two systems have been calculated. Finally, comparative analyses of efficiency and coupling coordination degrees have been analysed from the perspective of the regional high-tech industry. Empirical results indicate the low overall technical efficiency in the regional high-tech industry is caused by low-scale efficiency under nonconvex. However, it is caused by low pure technical efficiency under convex. Moreover, the average efficiency of technology development in regional high-tech industry is higher than that of technology transformation for convex and nonconvex cases. Furthermore, the degree of coupling coordination of the two systems of the high-tech industry in all regions is moderate and above coordination. Dominant technology in high-tech industries refers to the technology that can break the stability and balance of the original technology system within a certain period and is widely adopted under the interaction of technological possibility and market choice. It is of theoretical and practical necessity to explore dominant technology's formation under overlapping niche. Thus, based on niche theory and competitive game theory, we established a competitive game model of dominant technology formation, and dynamically simulated the shape of dominant technology. This paper uses 'the proportion of user adoption' to measure dominant technology market share in high-tech industry and maintains that obtaining over 50% confers an obvious competitive advantage. Therefore, we draw three main conclusions: (1) Dominant technology formation in high-tech industry is influenced by R&D input, adopter preferences, adoption returns and the decision-making cost; (2) dominant technology formation under niche overlap can be described as a continuous accumulation and complex dynamic process; and (3) The main goal in the new technology competitive game is to obtain a larger market share, and the interaction in this game, which has two possible results, is complex, dynamic, diverse, and nonlinear. In this paper, a new index is constructed to measure the regional distribution of high-tech industries. Based on the product space theory and the fitness method, we creatively construct the urban high-tech complexity index, which reflects the diversity and universality of urban high-tech industries. Using urban data from Chinese industrial enterprise database, we find the difference in China's urban high-tech complexity between cities shows a downward trend from 1996 to 2013, and the strong positive spatial correlation of this index. These conclusions reflect the diffusion and spillover effects of China's high-tech industries across regions. With the continuous advancement of the CAFTA strategy, the relationship between China and ASEAN countries have gradually strengthened, and the trade exchanges between the two sides have developed rapidly, thereby promoting the economic growth of ASEAN countries in the region. This paper uses differences-in-differences method and HS-6 customs statistical code to study the development of China-ASEAN high-tech industries from 1998 to 2017. It turns out that the establishment of the CAFTA has played a positive role in promoting the development of high-tech industries in ASEAN countries. The specific performance is that China and ASEAN countries have closer trade exchanges, and the trade in computer communication technology and electronic technology has become the fastest developing foreign trade sector. Since 2010, China's economic growth has stagnated due to an unbalanced regional industrial structure and lack of sufficient qualified technical personnel. A nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) model has been used in this study to examine the asymmetric effects of secondary vocational education and training (SVET) and higher vocational education and training (HVET) and their interaction with high-tech industries on economic growth over the period 1980-2020. The findings show that an increase in secondary vocational education and training (SVET) significantly boosts long-term economic growth, while a decrease in secondary vocational education and training (SVET) insignificantly reduces long-term China economic growth. Likewise, the upward change in higher vocational education and training (HVET) promotes and the downward fluctuation in higher vocational education and training (HVET) significantly reduces China's long-term economic growth. The moderating role of secondary vocational education in the impact of high-tech industries on China's economic growth is positive, but not significant. However, higher vocational education plays a significant positive moderating role in high technology industries impact on economic growth. Strategically, the study analysis suggests that economic transition prosperity can be achieved by encouraging higher vocational education and the equal development of high-tech industries in all regions. In addition, this study also proposes to cultivate high-quality talents related to high-tech development and modern industrial innovation and upgrading through higher vocational education, improve productivity, and promote the country's intensive development. Green finance is acknowledged as a critical policy tool in China's sustainable development sector, with the goal of lowering the financial burden associated with ecological transformation for Chinese firms. This research examines the impact of green finance on the green innovation efficiency of the high-tech industry in China, within the context of carbon neutrality. Using a panel dataset covering 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China from 2013 to 2021, we analyze the effects of green finance on green innovation efficiency. Our findings indicate that green finance significantly improves the green innovation efficiency of the high-tech industry, even after robustness testing. Furthermore, this paper also explores the threshold effect of industrial agglomeration on the relationship between green finance and green innovation efficiency, specifically in terms of specialization, diversity, and competition. We verify that green finance reduces the costs of green transformation for enterprises, leading to a substantial improvement in the green innovation efficiency of the high-tech industry. These results shed light on the factors influencing green innovation efficiency and provide theoretical insights and implications for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and financial institutions to reconcile economic growth and sustainability goals. China is implementing a structural tax reduction policy to upgrade the structure of household consumption and promote the development of high-tech industry. This article constructs a heterogeneous NK-DSGE (New Keynesian - Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium) model to study the effects of tax reduction policies on consumption upgrading and the development of high-tech industry. The tax categories involved in this model are divided into demand-side tax and supply-side tax. We build two indexes to measure the consumption structure and the development of high-tech industry. It is found that reducing high-tech enterprise income tax would upgrade the consumption structure and promote the development of high-tech industries in the short term. Reducing low-tech enterprise income tax would achieve similar effects in the medium and long term. Moreover, tax such as consumption tax, labour income tax and capital income tax reduction policies can upgrade the consumption structure and promote the development of high-tech industry in the long term. Finally, this article finds that when the elasticity of labour substitution is smaller, reducing high-tech enterprise income tax is more effective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is still a significant gap between most high-tech fields in China and developed countries, and the relationship between the economic resilience of innovation systems and the innovation capability of the high-tech industry has received attention. Using data from 30 provinces in China, this study adopts the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis approach to analyze the relationship between economic resilience and high-tech industry innovation capability, and the findings are as follows: (1) Technological talents and economic development are necessary conditions for explaining the high innovation capability of high-tech industries. (2) The combination of economic resilience and different factors constitutes the equivalent configuration of two high innovation capabilities and four low innovation capabilities. (3) Under high-intensity technological competition between governments, the increased agglomeration of technological talents, and high-quality economic development, the strengthening of economic resilience is conducive to enhancing the innovation capability of high-tech industries. (4) Under low-intensity technological competition between governments, a well-developed technology market, and increased agglomeration of technological talents, the strengthening of economic resilience is adverse to enhancing the innovation capability of high-tech industries. The main contribution of this study is to clarify the configuration mechanism of economic resilience that acts on the innovation capability of the high-tech industry and reveal the complex interaction between economic resilience and multiple factors. With the rapid development of high-tech industries, the research perspective of industrial innovation has gradually evolved from the innovation system to innovation ecosystem. Whether the innovation ecosystem of China's high-tech industry can achieve the benign evolution and development of the system under the new global pattern has become a real issue. Based on the perspective of the four-helix innovation model, in this study we construct an index system of the industrial innovation ecosystem development and designs a framework system of the industrial innovation ecosystem development capability, including the coordinated development capability, evolutionary development capability, and sustainable development capability at three levels. We construct measurement models of different capability dimensions and multi-dimensionally analyses of the regional development differences and change trends of each capability dimension of the system. The results show that the coordinated development capability of China's high-tech industrial innovation ecosystem is poor, which inhibits the comprehensive capability of the system's development to a certain extent. Although the evolutionary and sustainable development capabilities fluctuate greatly and have significant regional differences, they are measured at a better level and thereby contribute to the development of the system. Knowledge always constitutes the primary productive force for the social and economic development of the country, and consequently innovation has become a new development theme in most countries worldwide. Characterized by high profitability and high growth, Chinese high-tech industries show a rapid growth trend in size and effectiveness, which have been the supporting force and cornerstone for the national economy to promote the upgrading of products and industrial structures. In this study, a combination of Criteria Importance through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method was proposed to evaluate the innovation capacity of high-tech industries. A total of 25 three-level evaluation indicators were established to construct a high-tech industry innovation capacity indication system. The CRITIC method was used to calculate the weight of each indicator, and the TOPSIS method was used to make comprehensive decisions on the high-tech industries of 31 provinces in China. Results show that the development trends of high-tech industries vary greatly in the 31 provinces of China. The top five indicators are the rate-of renovation and reformation projects completed and put into use; the amount of investment in renovation and reformation; the rate of projects completed and put into use; the gross value of production and operation output at current prices; and the expenditure of large and medium-sized high-tech enterprises on technology reformation. These indicators are the critical factors affecting the ranking of high-tech industries at the provincial level. Guangdong ranks first, followed by Jiangsu and Zhejiang, sequentially. The differences in economic and geographical factors initially result in the regional distribution imbalance of high-tech industries, typically “the eastern preceding over the middle, and the middle preceding over the western.” Conclusions provide significantly valuable references in expanding the indication system for a comprehensive evaluation of the independent innovation capacity of high-tech enterprises, which also show valuable references in suggesting measures for the government and enterprises to improve the independent innovation capacity of high-tech enterprises. Under the rapidly developing economy in China, accurate forecasting holds vital significance for policymaking and operational planning within the high-tech industry. However, the influencing factors affecting the output, accompanied by the time-delay effect, could be nonlinear, and uncertain. Thereby, this paper proposes a new nonlinear grey multivariable model with time-varying lag parameters. To be specific, the newly designed time delay function and power exponent are introduced, which can significantly enhance the adaptability and flexibility of the proposed method. The Grey Wolf Optimization algorithm is utilized to calculate the dynamic time lag parameters and power exponent to improve the prediction reliability. Furthermore, this new approach is applied to predict the high-tech industry's output in China, Shanghai Municipality, and the Eastern Region, with due consideration given to the time-delay effect between input factors and outputs. To assess its efficacy, some leading models are selected for comparison to the proposed model. Furthermore, the utilization of Monte-Carlo simulation, the Probability Density Analysis, and the simulations are used to demonstrate the robustness and stability of this new method. This study uses the Hicks-Moorsteen index method to examine the impact mechanism of the digital economy on the total factor productivity and its decomposition efficiencies of the high-tech industry in China. The results show that the total factor productivity of the high-tech industry in the research and development phase is significantly and positively influenced by the primary phase of digital economy development. Digital economy development has a positive impact on technical change, according to the specific path analysis, which has an inverted U-shaped nonlinear characteristic. With a U-shaped nonlinear characteristic, it has a significant and persistent negative impact on efficiency changes, where the positive impact of technological spillovers on the digital economy outweighs the negative impact of technological shocks. The spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a significant impact on business and economies globally. This paper aims to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on firm performance in China's high-tech industries. The population of this paper is 116 companies listed on the sci-tech innovation board (STAR market) of the Shanghai stock exchange. DuPont analysis is applied to measure firm performance including return on equity (ROE), return on assets (ROA), asset turnover ratio (ATO), and profit margin. The empirical results show that the COVID-19 pandemic has a significant and negative impact on ROE, ROA, and ATO in high-tech industries, and research and development (R&D) investment has a moderating role in the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and firm performance. The current technological potential energy agglomeration situation and the driving mechanism for high-tech (HT) industry development can be clarified based on the front view of innovative behaviour. Thus, it can be defined using three dimensions: comprehensive innovation environment, innovation initiative and attraction of innovation factors. This study theoretically investigates the internal mechanism and spatial effect of technological potential energy agglomeration driving the development of the HT industry and establishes an empirical analysis using a general nested space model (GNS). China's regional technological potential energy agglomeration level increases over time, and a 'conduction' development pattern spreading from the northeast to the southwest is observed. The diversified agglomeration of technological potential energy can significantly transform the low- and medium-tech (LMT) industry to the HT industry at the 1% level, with a driving force of 0.5994. The driving force of the specialised agglomeration is 0.2538, less than the diversified agglomeration. The specialised agglomeration of technological potential energy hinders the development of HT industries in neighbouring areas, as core technologies are excusive with limited innovation resources. Therefore, all provinces should promote HT industries by cultivating platforms for technological potential energy agglomeration, encouraging technological innovation, strengthening foreign trade and promoting institutional innovation. The study assesses the effect of the high-tech industry and renewable energy on consumption-based carbon emissions (CCO 2) in the MINT countries (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey). The study also incorporates other drivers of CCO 2 emissions, such as economic growth and foreign direct investment. It utilises a panel dataset spanning between 1990 and 2018 and a series of second-generation techniques such as CIPS and CADF unit root, Westerlund cointegration, the fully modified ordinary least square (FMOLS), dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS), fixed effect ordinary least square (FE-OLS) and the novel method of moment quantile regression (MMQR). The study outcomes validate the long-run association between CCO 2 and the independent variables. The outcomes of the MMQR disclose that in each quantile (0.1–0.90), economic growth, high-tech industry, and foreign direct investment increase CCO 2 emissions while renewable energy consumption mitigates CCO 2 emissions across all quantiles (0.1–0.90). This study also validates the presence of Enviornmental Kuznets Curve and the Pollution-Haven hypotheses. Similar results are endorsed by DOLS, FMOLS, and FE-OLS estimators. High-tech industry is continuously and rapidly changing. Therefore, how high-tech organizations can maintain their competitive advantages has become an interesting issue. A good fit between an individual and its organization may bring lots of benefits. Among these benefits is innovative knowledge from the employees within the organization. Therefore, this study aims to understand how individuals fitting to the organizational environment have influences on knowledge sharing and innovation. We applied a quantitative research method to investigate the relationships between the three constructs: individual-organization fit, knowledge sharing and knowledge innovation. The study was conducted in Vietnam with a sample of 301 engineers from different high-tech companies. Next, confirmatory factor analysis is performed to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaires. Finally, structural equation modeling (SEM) is used for hypothesis testing. This study found that individual-organization fit are positively correlated to knowledge sharing and knowledge innovation, and knowledge sharing is also positively correlated to knowledge innovation. In addition, knowledge sharing has a mediating effect on the relationship between individual-organization fit and knowledge innovation. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a widely used non‐parametric method in efficiency measurement with multiinputs and multioutputs. Malmquist productivity measures the efficiency change in different periods and decomposes the general efficiency change into technical efficiency change and frontier shift. In this paper, we choose a driving industry in social development, the high‐tech industry, as an example to illustrate a new method, virtual frontier DEA model, in the aspect of improvement of the traditional DEA model. The high technology (high-tech) industry of China has gained a key strategic position in the Chinese economic goals. In this positioning, foreign direct investment (FDI) and technological innovation have emerged as strong pillars of the high-tech industry. However, there are growing concerns of carbon emission from this industry which is still debatable. In this context, this study measures the effect of FDI and technology innovation on carbon emissions in the high-tech industry from 28 provinces of China. The study uses the provincial data for China over the period 2000–2018. In addition to examining unit root properties, structural breaks, and cointegration, this study uses quantile regression for estimating long-run relationships among study variables. The findings reveal the negative impact of FDI on carbon emissions. Technology innovation positively impacts in the initial three quantiles, whereas negatively impacts in the next six quantiles. These results indicate that FDI and technology innovation have shaped the energy intensity in the high-tech industry, which causes fluctuation in carbon emissions over time. After controlling the effects of urbanization, energy intensity, and economic growth, this study recommends that policymakers should emphasize on the heterogeneous effects of FDI and technology-lead emissions at different quantiles during the process of CO2 emission reduction. High-tech industry stands out as progressive, inovative field of industry which continuously makes investments towards R&D development. High-tech industry also has distinguishing features such as rapid use of new science findings and constant investments to new equipment, which tends to quickly depreciate and is replaced. Also, high-tech industry companies typicaly cooperate with international organisations, research centers and universities. It is not unusual for high-tech industry companies to have a lot of patents and licences. It is difficult to implement business improvement models, which tend to increase competitive advantage by reducing production cost, increasing production speed and reducing delivery time in continiously evolving high-tech industry companies. In this paper the posibility to implement business improvement models in high-tech industry is analyzed. Additionaly, employee motivation and initiative, as factors of business model implementation success is analyzed. Finally, based on the research of scientific literature and empirical data of two high-tech industry companies a model for high-tech industry performance improvement is proposed, which also introduces tools to improve employee motivation and initiative. The purpose of this article is focusing attention on the relevant problematic issues that exist in the sphere of legal regulation of domestic area of high technologies, as well as finding ways of their effective solution. Noted that the legal regulation of objects and phenomena surrounding the domestic information technology (IT) sphere is quite weak and insufficient compared to other countries. Effectively functioning practices of legal regulation of the sphere of high technologies that exist in developed democracies are analyzed for their compliance with the realities of the domestic legal system. Considerable attention is paid to the characteristics of the current state of functioning of IT law and legislation in democracies. The initial successes that have already been achieved in Ukraine in relation to the IT sphere in the past were analyzed. The perspective directions of further development of IT law, as well as related domestic and international legislation, are considered. It is pointed out that the development of both the domestic high-tech industry and the functioning of IT law and legislation are inextricably linked with the democratization of the country. Accurate analysis of technological innovation mechanism in different regions is the key to promoting China's technological innovation, economic transformation and upgrading. This paper collected statistical data of high-tech enterprises in 27 provinces in China from 2009 to 2016, established a novel PSO-GRNN model, and applied sensitivity analysis to explore the influencing factors and regional differences of enterprise technological innovation in Eastern, Central and Western China. The empirical results showed that the influencing factors were innovation investment, market environment, government support and foreign technology spillover sorting by impact size. Innovation investment was the decisive factor of technological innovation, but innovation resources mainly concentrated on Eastern China, severely insufficient in Central and Western China. Market environment was favorable to Eastern and Central China, but unfavorable to Western China, which restricted greatly the development of Western China. The principalagent problem of state-owned enterprise and the crowding out effect of government research and development funds jointly led to the negative influence of government support on technological innovation. Foreign technology spillover had significant positive effects on technological innovation in Western China. Industrial sulfur dioxide (SO2) has become an important source of environmental pollution in China, and the regional SO2 emission reduction capacity is a comprehensive reflection of cleaner production capacity, environmental regulation, and economic development. It is obvious that high-tech industries play a crucial role in promoting the cleaner production capacity of the whole industry. Simultaneously, only considering the regional emission and the development of high-tech industry in isolation may deviate from actual economic characteristics. Therefore, by using the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2005 to 2016, this paper adopts spatial autoregression model (SAR), spatial error model (SEM), and spatial Durbin model (SDM) to analyze the effect of the high-tech industry development on SO2 emission reduction under the spatial adjacency matrix (W1), geographic distance matrix (W2), and economic distance matrix (W3). In addition, this paper selects three indicators, which is SO2 removal rate, SO2 emission, and SO2 removal quantity, as explanatory variables, and R&D investment and number of enterprises in high-tech industry are selected to represent the industrial development level. The major conclusions are as follows: (1) The ability of SO2 emission reduction in the local province is significantly affected by the surrounding provinces, showing the agglomeration characteristics of "high-high" or "low-low." (2) The R&D investment of high-tech industry has a negative impact on SO2 removal rate and SO2 removal quantity, but a positive effect on the SO2 emissions for the local province, and has a positive effect on the emission reduction of surrounding provinces. (3) The expansion of high-tech industry has significantly improved the SO2 emission reduction capacity of the local province and its surrounding provinces. The robustness test supports the empirical conclusions of this paper. Finally, this paper puts forward some policy suggestions for government in environmental governance, such as "joint prevention and control" and the promotion of cleaner production. This study investigates the effects of firm-level workforce diversity on firm innovation. Instead of focusing on the main effects of diversity, we adopt contingency theory and propose that the demographic and status diversity of an entire organizational workforce promote or impede firm innovation depending on firm environmental contingencies. Analysis of multisource, multiwave data collected from 178 Korean companies indicates that gender and status diversity contribute to firm innovation in highly turbulent markets. However, having the same status diversity is detrimental to the innovation of firms under low market turbulence. Age diversity in high-tech firms with a relatively young workforce increases firm innovation. This conceptual and empirical analysis offers novel practical and theoretical insights into the role of demographic and status diversity toward firm innovation by identifying critical environmental contingencies that shape the implications of workforce diversity on firm innovation. In order to improve the technological innovation effect of compound high-tech industry, this paper studies its dynamic resource allocation technology with the support of 5G communication technology, and analyzes the application of 5G communication technology in technological innovation of compound high-tech industry. In the uplink and downlink of wireless energy-carrying communication system, this paper studies the joint optimization of subcarrier allocation and power allocation of uplink and downlink to maximize the uplink and downlink weighted sum rate of the system. Moreover, this paper adopts the joint optimization algorithm of power and sub-carrier based on Lagrangian dual method and ellipsoid method to obtain the maximum information transmission rate of uplink and downlink. In addition, this paper constructs an intelligent innovation management system. The research results show that the dynamic resource allocation method based on 5G communication proposed in this paper has a very good effect in the application of technological innovation in complex high-tech industries. Vigorously developing high-tech industry has been considered to be an effective way to coordinate economic growth with excessive carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. However, previous studies have not explored the heterogeneous impacts of high-tech industry on CO2 emissions in regions with different levels of high-tech industry development, and not distinguished the direct and indirect impacts. Based on STIRPAT model, this study investigates the impacts of high-tech industry development on CO2 emissions in China between 2005 and 2016. Adopting the K-medians cluster method, effects in regions with high, middle, and low levels of high-tech industry development are considered. Indirect effects of high-tech industry development on CO2 emissions by affecting industry structure upgrades and economic growth are explored. Empirical results illustrate a positive U-shaped nonlinear link between the level of high-tech industry development and CO2 emissions at the national level and regional (high, middle, and low) level. In terms of indirect impacts, high-tech industry development attenuates the reduction of CO2 emissions due to industry structure upgrades, and promotes economic growth to increase CO2 emissions slightly. The indirect impact intensity gradually decreases as the level of high-tech industry development decreases across three regions. Reasonable implications of our findings are proposed. In recent years, the adoption of enterprise resource planning (ERP) is becoming essential for achieving fast and transparent information exchange, avoiding unnecessary waste and maintaining coordination within a firm and among partners in a supply chain. However, the implementation of an ERP system often fails, and one major reason is that the selected ERP system is not suitable for the firm. Therefore, a good evaluation framework for selecting the most appropriate ERP system is necessary. This study proposes a framework, which integrates decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL), analytic network process (ANP), VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje in Serbian (VIKOR) and fuzzy set theory, for the evaluation of ERP systems. First, the fuzzy DEMATEL is used to understand the direct and indirect relationships among the criteria. Second, the fuzzy ANP is adopted to calculate the importance weights of the sub-criteria. Finally, the most appropriate ERP system is obtained by the fuzzy VIKOR. The proposed decision-making framework is applied to a firm in the high-tech industry in selecting the most appropriate ERP system. Despite extensive discussion about the relationship between market competition and innovation performance, the impact of market competition on the innovation efficiency of high-technology industries in a transitional economy is still unclear. The article is based on panel data of 17 subsectors of China's high-tech industry spanning the 2001–2016 period. Using stochastic the frontier analysis model, we empirically test the impact of market competition on two-stage innovation efficiency from the perspective of the industry. The results indicate that market competition and firm scale have positive and significant effects on the efficiency of two-stage innovation, the effects of industry export intensity and government intervention on R&D efficiency are negative, but the effects are different for the efficiency of the commercialisation of technology. Based on the results of the empirical analysis, this paper compares the trends and the differences between R&D efficiency and commercialisation efficiency, and then uses cluster analysis to reclassify China's high-tech industries into three categories, thus revealing the disconnect and imbalance within China's high-tech industries. Currently the rapid growth of global economy has the competition among hightech industries develop from regional to global, and the competition becomes fierce. In face of such fierce competition in global high-tech industry, it is realized that tangible assets could no longer be the differentiation basis, but intangible assets are regarded as the differentiation capital. An enterprise with sustainable innovation would dominate the world market and enhance the international competitiveness of domestic economy. When internal entrepreneurial culture is prevalent, an enterprise would naturally promote the innovation capability. Such a point of view also explains more popular of the innovative products or services of some enterprises than those with larger scales. Aiming at employees in high-tech industry in Guanxi Province, total 500 copies of questionnaire are randomly distributed, and 337 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 67%. The research results reveal significantly positive correlations between 1.entrepreneurial culture and sustainable innovation capability, 2.sustainable innovation capability and patent, and 3.entrepreneurial culture and patent. Under the rapid industrialization, the country has become a major high-tech industry in Asia. Being an important industry in domestic strategic development, high-tech industry attracts a lot of manpower. During the depression after the financial crisis, organizations' adoption of layoffs and unpaid leave to increase work or transfer positions induced employees' worries. There was news about hi-tech millionaires dying young of overwork in past years. Working pressure therefore became the major problem emphasized by human resource managers. Stress management related issues have been discussed academically or practically in recent years. Aiming at high-tech employees of Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan, 500 copies of questionnaire are distributed and 387 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 77%. The research results reveal 1.positive relations between working pressure and work exhaustion, 2.negative relations between work exhaustion and job satisfaction, and 3.negative relations between working pressureandjob satisfaction. In the rapidly changing and challenging environment, the possession of continuous innovation ability is primary for organizations in high-tech industry, which have to constantly apply innovation to maintain and enhance the effectiveness, create corporate value, and pursue organizational excellence so as to promote the competitive advantage for enterprise growth and survival. In face of currently economic globalization and rapid development of knowledge, the competition in high-tech industry has developed from regionally to globally. The fierce competition has the technology and knowledge of high-tech industry no longer the exclusive advantages. A high-tech business has to constantly innovate and establish unique resources and pursue better business performance in the business activity to remain the competitive advantages. When drafting and executing innovation strategy, a high-tech business should first measure the internal/external environment and business objectives and consider the organizational resources to propose proper coping strategy. Aiming at employees of high-tech industry in Fujian Province, 380 copies of questionnaire are randomly distributed, and 241 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 63%. The retrieved questionnaire data are analyzed with statistics software. The results show notably positive correlations between 1.organizational resources and innovation strategy, 2.innovation strategy and innovation value, and 3.organizational resources and innovation value. According to the results, the proposed suggestions are expected to provide reference for high-tech businesses adjusting the organizational resources to match the innovation strategy so as to assist in the business management. Purpose This paper aims to examine the different impacts of six variables on firm technological innovation performance in different high-tech industries in China. Through a comparative analysis of data about growth enterprises market board (GEM)-listed companies, this study attempts to get some conclusions, to help firms in different high-tech industries use resources more rationally and to improve technological innovation performance more effectively.Design/methodology/approach This paper constructs semi-parametric models based on the relevant data of GEM-listed companies during 2010 to 2015 for different high-tech industries. These models can ensure that the influencing factors of firm technological innovation performance are no longer restricted to a particular aspect but can provide a comprehensive comparative analysis of the effects of factors on firm technological innovation performance in different high-tech industries.Findings The empirical results show that R&D expenditures have a significant positive impact on firm technological innovation performance in most high-tech industries, but not in electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry; R&D personnel investment and government subsidies have significant positive impacts on firm technological innovation performance in knowledge-oriented industries; technology diversity has a significant positive impact on firm technological innovation performance in technology-oriented industries; the proportion of exports shows an inverted U-shaped relationship with firm technological innovation performance in electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry, while firm size shows an inverted U-shaped relationship with firm technological innovation performance in general equipment manufacturing industry; and the effect of semi-parametric model fit is superior to the general parameters model.Originality/value Drawing on the resource dependence perspective, this paper is the first to consider a comprehensive treatment of differential effects of internal resources (R&D personnel, R&D expenditure), external resources (government subsides) and firm characteristics (firm size, export ratio) on firm technological innovation performance in different high-tech industries in an emerging country, in particular in contrast to previous studies that have focused on a single industry or taken the type of industry as a control variable. In addition, most studies about the determinants of firm innovation performance are based on survey questionnaires, which may introduce large subjective errors. Setting the relationship between variables in advance may also introduce fit error when using a general-parameter model. Semi-parametric regression which is used in this paper is able to prevent this shortcoming effectively. This research aims to discover the connection between strategic typologies and organisational critical activities, and focuses on the organisational critical activities in three functional areas in high-tech organisations: ‘research and development’, ‘marketing’ and ‘manufacturing’. Research methods used include semi-structured interviews with 11 firms and 15 interviewees. And 34 participants were surveyed with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) questionnaires in Taiwan. The results show that organisations adopt different typologies tend to perform organisational critical activities differently to achieve success. Prospectors place more emphasis on ‘research and development’ related activities, Defenders focus on activities of ‘manufacturing and production related fields’, and Analysers care more about activities in ‘marketing related fields’. Defenders tend to pay more attention to activities relating to the manufacturing domain than Prospectors and Analysers. This research establishes a linkage between organisational critical activities and corporate strategy, and it could be useful for high-tech organisations to better manage their strategies. In emerging economies, organizational change is both a difficult challenge and a common phenomenon for high-tech firms. Change can enhance adaptability and leverage knowledge based on dynamic capability perspective, but it can also increase coordination costs and—according to the organizational inertia perspective—prompt conflict. Existing findings about the effect of organizational change on firm performance are inconsistent. Accordingly, this survey study of 213 firms in the Chinese high-tech industry investigates the curvilinear and differential effects of technical and administrative organizational change, as moderated by customer participation and innovation ambidexterity. The results reveal that the effects of technical and administrative change are both U-shaped. At a low level of change, increasing technical or administrative change hinders firm performance, but as the levels increase beyond a critical point, the effect of change becomes positive. Although customer participation strengthens the effect of technical change on firm performance, both customer participation and innovation ambidexterity attenuate the effect of administrative change on firm performance. The high-tech industry has resulted in economic development and international competition among countries. High output and large exports cannot conceal development imbalances of the high-tech industry. This study is an empirical research to analyse regional competitiveness differences using China as a case study. Based on factor analysis, it compared the competitiveness of the high-tech industry in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, analysed the competitiveness differences among four economic regions, and discussed spatial distribution features of the high tech industry. The results showed that large differences existed in regional competitiveness of the high-tech industry. Guangdong had the strongest high-tech industry competitiveness, while Shanxi ranked at the bottom. Among the four economic regions, the eastern region had the strongest competitiveness, followed by middle, western and north-eastern regions. At present, there exist both regional-scale and regional performance differences in China’s high-tech industry development. Performance differences will inevitably affect resource allocation in regional high-tech industry and in the upgrading of industrial structure. Thus, this article conducts a systematic study of convergence issues in China’s high-tech industry development performance by adopting the spatial panel econometric method and related approaches. First, to measure the comprehensive performance of China’s high-tech industry development, the study applies the Malmquist index and efficacy coefficient method from the perspective of R&D efficiency and economic efficiency; then, by adopting a spatial autoregressive (SAR) panel data model, it studies the absoluteconvergence and convergence mechanism of China’s provincial high-tech industry development performance from 2001 to 2013. The results indicate the existence of distinct absoluteconvergence in China’s high-tech industry development performance since the 21st century, which is mainly due to technology diffusion. The high-tech industry has great potentials in global economy and plays an important driving force in global manufacturing operations. However, high-tech firms sometimes have to deal with high-risk potentials such as limitation of human resources, powerful competitors, and high ratio of natural disasters. An alternative solution to overcome these issues is to seek a new place for locating manufacturing plants. In addition, the selection of the new location is a form of business expansion outside origin location which can strengthen firm's position at the global level. This study presents a novel framework of location selection using fuzzy analytic network process to determine prospective manufacturing location and applies to Taiwan hi-tech firms in selecting China regions as the research subject. We conduct survey to 16 firms which are categorized into two groups (small-medium and large firms). Following our proposed location selection framework, we conclude that the two groups have different priorities of location determinants and location ranks. In choosing a location, small-medium firms prioritize cost rather than regulation and community, while large firms prioritize regulation rather than cost and community. In this paper, the valuation of an investment opportunity in a high-tech corporation using real option theory and modern capital budgeting is studied. Some key characteristics such as high-risk, multi-stage and technology life cycle of a high-tech project are considered in the proposed model. Since a real option is usually not tradable in the market, an actuarial approach is adopted in our study. We employ an irreversible regime-switching Markov chain to model the multi-stage and technology life cycle of the project in the high-tech industry. The valuation of captured real option can be formulated as the valuation of an American option with time-dependent strike price. For the purpose of practical implementation, a novel lattice-based method is developed to value the American option. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed models and methods. Having number of scientific research institutions, number of scientific researchers, and new product R&D expenses as the input indices of R&D performance and new product sales revenue, number of patent application, and number of valid patents as the output indices, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied in this study to calculate the input and output based technical efficiency of five categories of industries in high-tech industry in China. Besides, the projection analysis is combined for the empirical research. The results reveal that, under the same scientific research output rate, the inputs of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry are comparatively higher than those of the other four industries that it requires further optimization. As an important role in China's economy, the high-tech industry should evaluate and analyze the innovation activities from a systematic perspective to obtain innovation efficiency, thus improving high-quality development. In fact, for the efficiency assessment system of the high-tech industry, the indicators information is imprecise due to the inherent randomness, measurement error, incomplete information on economic phenomena, etc. However, few studies to date have considered and described the imprecise information. Moreover, data indivisibilities and the economic scale of the high-tech industry cause nonconvex technologies. However, little research has been conducted using the nonconvex measure to estimate innovation efficiency. In this regard, this paper is the first to combine convex and nonconvex technologies with uncertainty theory in a multi-stage system to compare the efficiency of the high-tech industry. More specifically, this paper first divides the innovation activities of the high-tech industry into a technological development stage and an economic transformation stage from the perspective of the innovation value chain. Second, uncertainty theory is adopted to express imprecise information, and uncertain multi-stage nonparametric frontier techniques are constructed to measure the innovation efficiency of the high-tech industry. Third, the high-tech industrial efficiency evaluation based on two-stage nonparametric techniques is established. Empirical results indicate that efficiency in the technology development stage is higher, particularly under nonconvex. Furthermore, the inefficiency of the whole system is mainly due to the inefficiency in the economic transformation under nonconvex, while under convex, the primary reason becomes the joint inefficiency of the two stages.
