The article focuses on the developments in the higher education of the indigenous populations of Bolivia. The government of President Evo Morales began adopting policies that will make universities offer better services for the country's large indigenous underclass. The country joined several other Latin American countries in introducing changes in higher education designed to promote social and political agendas. Based on estimates, almost half of the students enrolled in Bolivia's 11 public universities are of indigenous origin.
