In the 1960s, there was an increase in the offering of undergraduate Journalism programs in Argentina. A unique case during that time was the Escuela de Ciencias de la Información (School of Information Sciences) at the National University of Cordoba, due to the fact that it was planned without going through a Journalism training stage. This paper is a preliminary advancement of a research aiming to study the beginnings of communication research in Argentina, focusing on the case of Cordoba. It can be concluded that training and knowledge production are linked to contextual political and social conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FINANCIAL crises , *HISTORICAL literacy , *RECESSIONS - Abstract
The purpose of this article is to study how the documentary represented the deep economic crisis that began in 2008 in Spain. We propose to apply a methodology of filmic analysis that let us generate a new knowledge about this issue. We will study Edificio España (Víctor Moreno, 2012), Libre te quiero (Basilio Martín Patino, 2012), VidaExtra (Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro, 2013) and Informe General II (Pere Portabella, 2015). Between the first film and the last one there is the following evolution: antecedents, the testimony of the protest, the debate on the immediate events and the analysis elaborated from a larger reflective distance. DIGITAL cameras , *DIGITAL technology , *ELECTRONIC paper , *ACCESS to archives , *DIGITAL humanities , *DATA libraries - Abstract
The article analyzes the technological development in the historical discipline over time, focusing on the organization of archives and information processing. The author uses her own research on Jewish history in Mexico to demonstrate the usefulness of digital tools and digital humanities in historical research. In addition, the impact of Mexico's vote in favor of the UN resolution condemning Zionism is examined, including the demonstrations and tourist boycott that occurred in the United States. This episode had a significant effect on the relationship between the Jewish community and the government in Mexico. The text presents the experience of a historian in their research and the use of technological resources to gather and process information. The author highlights the importance of managing and classifying archives, as well as accessing online sources of information. It also mentions the evolution of historical research methods over time, from the use of cards and index cards to the development of more sophisticated card cabinets and classification systems. The article emphasizes the influence of these methods on the final outcome of historical research. The article discusses the use of index cards as a tool for organizing information in historical research. It is mentioned that Carl Linnaeus invented index cards in the 1760s and that they were used by naturalists, bibliographers, and historians. The archivist Daunou was one of the first to use index cards in archives, seeking to impose uniformity in the collected information. Although there were disadvantages to this method, such as a lack of progress in understanding historical facts, his methods laid the foundations for modern Western history. Despite some historians' reluctance to use digital technology, tools such as word processors are widely used. A study shows that although there have been changes in research practices, there is still a limitation in the use of digital tools to open new areas of research. The article analyzes the adoption of digital tools by historians. According to a survey, the majority of historians use library-backed databases, online archives, and digital cameras. However, there is a lack of adoption of other types of software and tools. Resistance to adopting new technologies is due to a lack of institutional support, the reluctance of more experienced historians, and a perceived lack of usefulness. Lack of time to learn new technologies is also an obstacle. The article highlights the importance of primary and secondary sources available online and how digital tools facilitate the handling of collected information. The article discusses the importance of using digital tools in historical research. The author mentions using Google Translate to translate communications from Ambassador Jova and other members of the US Foreign Service. It also highlights the usefulness of searching for newspaper sources online and warns about the need to be cautious of false information online. The author mentions the SuperNotecard program as an effective tool for organizing and transcribing information virtually. Additionally, other options such as Zotero, DEVONthink, and OneNote are mentioned. The use of digital cards allows for efficient manipulation and organization of information. The author highlights the ease of access to online archives and the ability to accumulate a large amount of data. The portability of the digital file is also mentioned as an advantage. The author concludes that there is no correct way to use these tools and that it is possible to combine digital and paper systems according to the needs of each project. The article discusses the importance of using digital tools in historical research. Different programs and platforms are mentioned, such as SuperNotecard, DEVONthink, OneNote, and Zotero, which can help historians manage sources and organize citations. The need to take precautions when working with digital files, such as making backups, is also highlighted. [Extracted from the article]

This article presents and discusses the possibilities offered by the press as a source of research, an object of study and as a political actor in historical and social research based on the relations between the press and political power. It starts from a methodology of historiographic review, and it is concluded that the press continues to be a very relevant source in historical and social research, but that it requires formulas for contrasting primary information that allow it to overcome its own limits. July 20, 1810 and August 7, 1819 are the dates that have traditionally been associated with the precise moment of Colombian Independence. But aside from political interests, it is fundamental to resort to recent research to pass through these discussions and refer to what the evidence shows us. This article, conceived more as an essay than as an in-depth article, offers a historical overview of the characteristics offered by the regimes that identified the so-called Old Regime in what is now the Colombian territory. Without any pretension of novelty, it outlines in a few pages more than two centuries of history and invites to reflect on the origin of a nation that seems not to have been born yet. COLLECTIVE memory , *EFFECTIVE teaching , *EDUCATIONAL objectives , *HIGH school teaching , *CIVIL society - Abstract
This article identifies research trends in the processes of creating historical memory from the state, civil society, and school, and the significant challenges of the educational sector regarding this conjunction. This paper deals with a corpus of 38 texts derived from research during the post-dictatorship period in Chile (1990) and Argentina (1983) and the post-conflict period in Colombia (2012). Then, it identifies as trends the state's intention to promote the construction of memories and confer this task to school. As for civil society, it notes the effort to strengthen spaces for protecting memories and ensure resistance against past victimizing agents. Regarding school, it recognizes crucial breakthroughs in the three nodes of the teaching system: teacher, student, and knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article outlines four annotations on the Performance Studies that center around the development, consolidation, availability, and application of this field of action, thought, and transformation. To that end, certain concerns related to the realms of creativity, research, and policy are explored. Based on the review of the contributions from several authors of different cultural, temporal, and geographic contexts, it was possible to highlight the multivoiced, open, and inconclusive nature of Performance Studies. The article ends showing the usefulness that this field offers for escaping from the processes of academic self-regulation and, consequently, embracing a post-disciplinary perspective that makes it possible to raise targeted questions that are both bold and unsettling.

This article discusses the opportunities that the sociology of news production offers to historians and other scholars who make use of media content as documentary sources. I highlight the interests and objects of study shared by both history and communication, as well as some problems faced by historians when dealing with such sources. I present the theory of a hierarchy of influences on media content as a conceptual alternative to resolve some of these difficulties. Furthermore, I put forward some strategies that facilitate the contextualization and critical analysis of media contents used as documentary sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research aims to make visible the way in which the Colombian State used the image of Amazonian women as a mechanism to legitimize its material and symbolic domination over the Amazonian territory during the Colombo-Peruvian War between 1932 and 1933. To such an extent, printed graphic sources such as El Tiempo, El Gráfico and Cromos were selected, because they allow to show the visual discourse reproduced at that time from a liberal and elite perspective that reflected the ideas of the Colombian State. The research makes a review of the press, from which a corpus of 700 images is extracted, where a visual analysis is carried out from an intersectional perspective. In this way, an alternate narrative about the War is created and that differs from the patriarchal, racist, classist, heteronormative and centralist discourse on which the history of this war event has been written. Thus, the different instances of domination produced from the representation and aestheticization of Amazonian bodies are highlighted, positioning a criticism from the Amazon and giving rise to the visibility of indigenous women in the region. ilustraciones, diagramas, fotografías, gráficas, mapas, retratos, tablas El Libertador Simón Bolívar generalmente es recordado por sus proezas militares, pero no por sus ideas constitucionales. The Liberator Simón Bolívar is generally remembered for his military prowess, but not for his constitutional ideas. During the independence process, Bolívar conceived politics on two fronts: the military and the constitutional; within the latter he became Legislator of America. This process was one of those that took shape during the era of the revolution, the double enlightened and industrial revolution, as well as during the revolutions of the Atlantic world, so that its nature was labyrinthine: in that time of great changes, a melting pot of diverse ideas about the State, the republic and the constitutions came together. The Liberator-Legislator, a cosmopolitan man, was naturally influenced by various traditions of political thought (both ancient and modern), by his travels and his political experiences, whose lessons were the input for his constitutional ideas. In this work I deal descriptively, critically and explanatory, on the one hand, the ideas that the Liberator-Legislator Simón Bolívar expressed about the congresses, the constituent assemblies and especially the Legislative Power, the representative body par excellence of the nascent Spanish American democratic republics; on the other hand, the conflictive relationship it had with said body and the principles, subjects and activities that are inherent to it: popular sovereignty, representativeness, democracy and separation of powers; congressmen, lawyers and legislators; control, monitor and authorize the Executive on behalf of the people, over which it exercises restraint. This research work studies the artistic gaze of the Antioquian muralist Pedro Nel Gómez (1899-1984) through the representations of the body present in his work between 1935 and 1954, years that include his first two great mural groups after returning to Colombia in 1930: the mural series of the Municipal Palace of Medellín (now Museo de Antioquia) and the one located in the Aula Máxima of the National University in the same city. Specifically, from the previous pictorial collections, is taken the representation of women, rural workers and urban workers, groups widely portrayed in Gómez's work, with whom he was particularly close due to the sociabilities resulting from his facets as a politician and university professor, areas of his professional performance also addressed for this occasion. The iconographic and iconological analysis of the images that make up the murals treated, is complemented with the review and investigation of primary written sources that account for the author of the works along with the places and periods of production behind them. Therefore, interviews, correspondence, lecture notes and other archival material related to Pedro Nel Gómez are included, as well as magazine and press articles of the time referring to the Colombian art and culture scene. The consequent analytical work between visual and documentary sources, leads to understand the muralist view of the body as a record of the past that refers to a concern for the symbolic and its interpretation, one of the central axes of Cultural History under which this research is framed. Abstract Objective. The article presents the research process on the Reconceptualization Movement at the Porto Alegre School, located in Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil, which hosted the 1st Latin American Seminar in 1965. Methodology. A historical research was carried out having interviews, documents from the school collection and bibliographic review as sources. Results. Two continuing trends in community development were identified in the background of reconceptualization, called structural-participatory and pedagogical-cultural. Dictatorship shows a fusion of these trends, constituting the aspect of reconceptualizing reform. In the context of political openness the continuity of this trend is verified in Master’s productions, based on research on Community Social Work and popular education. Conclusions. The influence of Community Development was verified, which promoted progressive tendencies and Latin American articulation, as well as constituted a particular trend for renewal of the Brazilian social service, reconceptualizing reformism with significant participation in the Latin American movement.

Abstract This an initial biographical depiction of one of Mexico´s foremost pedagogical thinkers which is based on a historical method that applies hermeneutical text and biographical narrative. The purpose of Moreno y de los Arco’s´ life, thought and work were reconstructed based on three primary sources - his latest resume, personal work archive and published material. The intellectual career of this pedagogue was developed in institutions where various epistemological traditions vied for the disciplinary status of Pedagogy. One of those places was the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a place where he spent half his life working and where his legacy and ideas are still alive. Despite his complex personality, imbued by contradictions, personal convictions and a deep appreciation for Spanish language and culture, de los Arcos was an outstanding teacher, researcher and disseminator of classical and modern pedagogy who deserves to be known, read and studied beyond Mexico, the country where he lived and died.

From the Monroe Doctrine (1823) to the end of World War II, the United States gradually took the place of the European colonial powers in Latin America and employed a wide range of political engagements in the countries of the region that gave it a dominant power in the Western Hemisphere. During the Cold War, US interventionist policies in the domestic affairs of the Latin American countries established the “American hegemony in Latin America”. A historical research on the U.S-Latin America relations shows that according to the neo-Gramscian perspective, US liberal hegemony in Latin America is preserved and promoted by three pillars: liberal culture; inter-American organizations; and US military and economic capabilities. These three pillars have also spread to other parts of the world.

The paper examines the variety and abundance of intertextual references present in ‘The Mystery of Majorana’ (1975), a narrative research (racconto-inchiesta) in which the Sicilian writer Leonardo Sciascia reconstructs a historical event: the disappearance in 1938 of the scientist Ettore Majorana. Sciascia does so not only with the help of historical sources and documents, but also literary motifs and devices, because he is convinced that literature, understood as a space where truth takes place, helps to illuminate reality.

- Abstract
Genealogy has acquired in the last decades an unusual awakening, modifying some of the processes that are carried out in our archives. The Church archives contain an enormous amount of data of substantial importance for the tracing of genealogies. However, this source of content is in many cases inversely proportional to the available technical and human resources (expertise, time, etc.) of both ecclesiastical archivists and users. We are aware that, in order to obtain a good genealogical study, it is essential to use a proper method for collecting, representing and analysing genealogical information. In this article we try to offer methodological guidelines that will lead us to a new archival-ecclesiastical praxis with genealogical contents that goes beyond parochial registers, considered by many as the only archival-ecclesiastical source that conveys them. [article in Spanish] We created a web-based digital history resource, documenting the work of the Sisters of the Infant Jesus in Bembibre, Spain. The resource contains an interpretative historical narrative that examines the Sisters’ time in Bembibre and the development of their school, as well as a visualization of their historical context and the conceptual tools used in the research. The user can read the narrative, explore their photographs, listen to exchanges in the groups organized by the Sisters when the research began, but also learn about the larger historical framework in which they lived. The resource also invites contributions from users who lived this experience, and our intention is to help foster an online community of the Sisters’ former pupils and their descendants. The target users for this resource are researchers as well as the Sisters and former students of the school. The purpose of the work is twofold: one, to explore the new methods of conceptualizing and disseminating humanities research that are afforded by digital technology, and two, to make historical research accessible for the general public and to create a space for those who lived the experience in Bembibre and worked with the Sisters to be a part of the research. In this paper, we both describe the web resource and share its contents. The website is located at http://theirgroup.org/Bembibre.

The research is about Gustave Eiffel and its filiation with the Main Church of San Marcos, whose construction dates in 1875, being the city of Arica part of the Peruvian territory, placing us between the years 1870-1890, when the Public Works of the Government were the main objective of the state, being in charge of the Bureau of Architects and Engineers of Peru, in addition to the information obtained in France and the Fonds Eiffel, which are official documents donated by the family, as well as the official page of the French engineer. It is concluded that Eiffel did not participate in the design and construction of the project, because the building was imported entirely by the Government of Peru from the United States of America, with a complete prefabrication system.

Abstract This reflection raises the need to redirect the look on traditional architectures, in this case of the Misak and Nasa indigenous peoples, as well as black communities in the Cauca department, a reflection motivated by the need to recognize the architecture of these human groups to be part of the historiography of Colombian architecture. The above based on two investigations whose objective was the critical reconstruction of the transformations of these architectures during the period of modernization of the nation-state. Methodological exercise that integrates ethnography, the review of notarial and press archives, cartography and planimetries, on-site architectural surveys and chronotypologies of these architectures in the urban and rural areas of the municipalities of Silvia and Suárez. What this seeks is acknowledging the house as a basic habitat, where the starting point of social reproduction lies with its representations and symbolisms, as a structural element of the culture of human groups settled in the rurality of Cauca.
