Pharmacopeia Navy work of Leandro de Vega, published in 1760 for use by physicians and surgeons of ships and hospitals in the Spanish Navy during the eighteenth century, is considered the first Spanish naval pharmacopoeia. The author defines a «catalog of drugs belonging to medical diseases» definitely a gazetteer of formulas for the preparation of medicines more useful for navigators of the time, both internal and external use. In this article is discussed at length this work, recognized its importance as a primary source, placing it in its historical context, detailing the content of the treaties and giving biographical note of the author and reporting of professional position and mission of its recipients. After highlighting the initiatives and original contributions of the Practitioners' Council of Alicante to the history of festivities and institutional commemorations of the profession at provincial and national levels, this paper provides an anthropological view of the most original festivity, that has the most social influence: the "Mother Practitioner's Tribute", which has been held for over more than a decade (1959-1970) in the province of Alicante to honor the eldest mother of the group of referees. It explains in detail the festivity's philosophy and the way of celebrate it are detailed. The circumstances, people and places concerned in each one of the tributes' editions, which information has been obtained investigating both professional press and general newspapers. It is accepted in Spanish nursing history the existence of the figure of 'Ministrante' as a professional antecendent of current nurses. This new professional arose with the enactment of the Royal Order of 29th June 1846, which later lead up to The Public Instruction Act of 9th September 1857, known as the Moyano Act by which the qualification of "practicante" was created. But, did an official qualification of "ministrante" really exist? The research carried out and the information gathered shows that it did not. The name of Minor Surgeon or 'Ministrante' was given to a professional, social and even institutional category who was the previous Blood-letter but with a new education syllabus.
