There is trauma in how Indigenous knowledge collections in libraries are managed. This paper seeks to understand the tikanga Māori context of Indigenous knowledges management in library collection policies. A review of selected library policies from five major AotearoaNew Zealand libraries regarding collection development, tikanga Māori integration and specifically Māori collection content will be explored using a modified Mead's Tikanga Test (of 2003). From this analysis will be inferred the ways in which the various library policies negate or affirm tikanga Māori. This will be followed by a brief introduction to the model Ngā Matatiki Mātauranga for culturally safe management of Indigenous collections to be integrated into collection policies. This paper will draw from a Māori perspective, in Aotearoa-New Zealand. The testing of library policies from five major libraries will drive the findings to represent the state of Indigenous collection policy in Aotearoa and how best for Māori to distinguish our futures in libraries. Purpose: This paper aims to examine the interaction between gatekeeping and trust in a public sector organization, where employees at lower hierarchical levels are expected to autonomously translate and transform directives into public services. This requires them to have access to operational steering information, i.e. information about directives and how to interpret and apply them. This study focuses on how gatekeeping structures regulate flows of operational steering information and how the gatekeeping structures affect the development of trust. Design/methodology/approach: The research design is qualitative. The data material consisted of semi-structured interviews with 26 employees in home care and schools and of eight complementary nonparticipant observations. Thematic analysis revealed the presence of static and dynamic gatekeeping structures, which are characterized by fixed and variable arrangements of information sources and channels, respectively. Findings: In static gatekeeping structures, managers or domain experts typically act as gatekeepers, and employees also perform gatekeeping activities collectively. Gatekeeping structures allow employees to switch between acting as gatekeepers and being gated, depending on the situation. The results show that gatekeeping structures for intermediation of operational steering information may support or impede employees' work, thus affecting their trust in their peers and their work organization. Research limitations/implications: Although the present study included both interviews and observations, these primarily occurred within scheduled and prearranged activities rather than capturing the nuances of the typical daily work of teachers and home care employees. As a result, certain perspectives may have been unintentionally omitted. Practical implications: The participants were recruited through the City of Oslo contact people, which may have impacted their status or perception in some way. Moreover, the study was conducted in the City of Oslo, a specific organization with its own unique set of values, norms and processes. The trust-based management in the City of Oslo is likely not representative of all public sector organizations. Originality/value: This study contributes conceptually by introducing gatekeeping structures and operational steering information and empirically by providing evidence of their relationship to trust development in public service delivery. With the continuous development of artificial intelligence technology and the exponential growth in the number of images, image detection and recognition technology is becoming more widely used. Image knowledge management is extremely urgent. The data source of a knowledge graph is not only the text and structured data but also the visual or auditory data such as images, video, and audio. How to use multimodal information to build an information management platform is a difficult problem. In this paper, a method is proposed to construct the result of image recognition as a knowledge graph. First of all, based on the improvement in the BlendMASK algorithm, the hollow convolution kernel is added. Secondly, the effect of image recognition and the relationships between all kinds of information are analyzed. Finally, the image knowledge graph is constructed by using the relationship between the image entities. The contributions of this paper are as follows. (1) The hollow convolution kernel is added to reduce the loss from extracting feature information from high-level feature images. (2) In this paper, a method is proposed to determine the relationship between entities by dividing the recognition results of entities in an image with a threshold, which makes it possible for the relationships between images to be interconnected. The experimental results show that this method improves the accuracy and F1 value of the image recognition algorithm. Purpose: This paper is a qualitative study of how social sciences faculty construct their research workflows with the help of technological tools. The purpose of this study is to examine faculty scholarly workflows and how both tools and practices support the research process. This paper could inform academic libraries on how to support scholars throughout the research process. Design/methodology/approach: This is a qualitative study case study of ten faculty members from six research universities from the United States and Canada. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and recorded. Atlas.ti was used to code and analyze the transcripts; each participant was a separate case. Descriptive coding was used to identify digital tools used for collaboration; process and descriptive coding was utilized to examine practices in scholarly workflows. Findings: Through case study analysis the results of this study include the role of technology in faculty research workflows. Each workflow was grouped into four categories: information literacy, information management, knowledge management, and scholarly communication. The findings included scholars creating simple workflows for efficiency and collaboration and utilizing workarounds. Research limitations/implications: The study did not observe faculty in the process of doing research and, thus, only reports on what the researchers say that they do. Originality/value: The research is unique in that there is almost no research on how social scientists conduct their research workflows and the affordances/impasses of this process. The present paper has attempted to highlight published research in Library and Information Science discipline contributed by LIS researchers in India during the last four decades, 1980-2019. The secondary data for the study was extracted from Incites, a web based analytical tool, of Clarivate Analytics. The study has observed that there were 4304 publications by Indian authors, which received 17523 citations. It has spotlighted the research themes of the top 100 papers; having the highest numbers of citations. The study has analysed citations, publication avenues and authorship of all 4304 papers. Research themes of highly cited 100 research papers in the areas of applications of bibliometrics, knowledge management and information seeking behaviour on social media received 6110 citations. Bibliometrics/scientometrics/informetrics were the preferred research themes followed by information seeking behaviour and other areas. The study has also presented the analysis with respect to collaboration. The practice of solo research changed with authors collaborating in projects and producing papers. Percentage of co-authored articles grew from 5.61 per cent to 12.66 per cent in India. Based on the knowledge organization method, this paper explores the construction method of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinical knowledge coding model by taking TCM clinical electronic medical record data as the research object. Firstly, extracting technology is used to obtain the required data in the electronic medical record. Then, by constructing the clinical knowledge coding model, the tacit knowledge is made explicit, establishing the clinical knowledge base and exploring the connotation of TCM clinical knowledge. It provides necessary data resources for deepening the expression level of TCM clinical knowledge, constructing accurate TCM clinical diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation models, and promoting the inheritance, innovation, and development of TCM. In this paper, we extracted the data of 318 cases of distention and established the TCM clinical database from the basic information of patients, clinical diagnosis information, clinical diagnosis and treatment information, and clinical evaluation information. Based on the knowledge coding model and the connotation of knowledge attributes, the established TCM clinical knowledge base was to explore the law of TCM clinical precision diagnosis and treatment. Very simply, research is the systematic investigation to explore new knowledge for scientific achievement. Research comprises "creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications" (OECD, 2015). Research carried out by scientists and researchers has made an enormous impact on the world over the centuries specially for developing countries like Bangladesh. Research can make a significant contribution to the growth and development of any nation. Research and the library are closely interconnected with one another. Libraries especially academic and special libraries responsible for research support that is treated as central pillar in their mission. A "researcher life cycle" approach was applied to identify researcher information needs. Librarians continue to play a central role in conducting successful research and are expanding beyond their traditional duties for delivering high quality information services to engage themselves more as educators, technological guides, and communicators. Librarians should pace more and more into a leadership role develop major initiatives and conduct training to increase research reproducibility. The present paper focuses on the basic technical issues of efficient research skills and highlights the librarians' competencies for research support of Bangladesh for guiding researchers for conducting successful research and ensuring a better work environment to do research. This paper mainly explores the proper referencing and citations, submission of manuscript in impact journals, find out predatory journals and selection for publishing articles in open access journals. This study also highlights the use and impact of various online databases such as Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus in order to explore citation status, h index and research performance of an individual author, country and institution. The study also investigates the role of the library in addressing present and future challenges to bridge technical issues of conducting research in Bangladesh. An attempt has been made to identify the major problems for submission manuscripts in high impact journals and to indicate some possible solutions for developing research information management systems, and efforts to improve training and support for researchers to enhance the research productivity of researchers in Bangladesh. Emerging new technologies, especially the way information technology is changing, have a big impact on many parts of people's lives. For example, modern social media platforms have changed how people interact, share information and talk to each other. Social media (SM) is becoming more and more useful as a way to improve communication and knowledge sharing (KS), not just between people but also between businesses. This trend has been closely watched by both professionals and academics. Even though research in this area is growing quickly and in a big way, there haven't been many attempts to look at the results of past surveys, put them together, and evaluate the current state of research on how social media can be used to share knowledge. We used a bibliometric and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to collect and review studies (46 documents and, after being edited, 16 publications) by following a set review process. This was done to make sure that the Scopus database had copies of all relevant research papers that were released between 2016 and 2020. Most of the terms have to do with social media and sharing information. Some of the most popular keywords in the study are: knowledge sharing, social media, knowledge management, information management, decision making, gamification, industry work, social dilemmas, hospitality industry, communication industry, etc. Denmark is at the top of the list when it comes to getting top awards. We did this for a wide range of study topics, such as SM for KS user behavior, utility and benefits, social media platforms and tools, and other topics that don't get much attention. In the article the authors stated that management had become one of the major factors in the efficiency and competitiveness of developed countries' economies during the twentieth century. The tendency of scales steady growth and a share of organizational-managerial innovations in the total volume of organization management activity is proved. The essence of the «creative management» concept is revealed as a component of the enterprise management system. The paper aims to analyze the approaches to define the main research directions in creative management and creativity in management. The analysis findings proved that creative management or creativity in management issues is one of the mainstream of investigation in papers devoted to modern management, which formed different scientific directions. The findings of investigation allow concluding that the topic of «creative management» or «creativity in management» wasn't popular among scientists until 2004 according to the WoS database and 2006 according to Scopus. After these years, the numbers of papers were growing up to 2018 throughout the analyzed period at an average growth rate of almost 50% in WoS database and 39% in Scopus database. Using VOSviewer software allowed defining 8 clusters of keywords that analyzed the creative management or creativity in management issues. All of them have close connections. The biggest cluster consists of 60 items and includes the follows big data, commerce, communication, competition, competitiveness, creative management, creative society, information and communication, information society, information management, information system, information technology, knowledge-based system, knowledge management, SMEs, surveys, strategic planning, sustainable development, technological development etc. The second biggest cluster merged the sphere of urban economy and the development of the creative industry. The findings proved that intellectual property rights protection is an important part of creative management or creativity in management issues. Library directors are part of the infrastructure of information management, but how well do they manage their institutional knowledge for succession planning? Our study looked at strategies to ease managerial transitions between libraries, focusing on knowledge management, communities of practice, and mentorship. Our survey found that succession planning was dictated by local practice and size of library. The results of this paper inform knowledge of succession planning and reveal existing gaps between informal transfer of knowledge and structured knowledge management (KM), as well as librarians' resourcefulness. Purpose: Nowadays, there is a rapid growth in different sciences that has led to thousands of publications in the form of scientific research papers. The readers of these papers are generally the people that are involved in science (i.e. researchers, students, teachers and professors). On the other hand, practitioners rarely use these articles as a resource to learn and apply new methods. They prefer an easy to understand, step-by-step guide (i.e. cookbook) helping them skip over the difficult scientific terms and structures. Therefore, because of a shortage of tools in this space, it takes practitioners many years to use newly developed methods. Design/methodology/approach: The purpose of this study is to review the literature on verified repositories and presents the necessity of method repositories. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to introduce a multi-level framework for semantic modeling (MFSM) based on four signification levels: objects, classes of entities, instances and domains. In addition, four fundamental propositions of the signification process underpin these levels, namely, classification, decomposition, instantiation and contextualization. Design/methodology/approach: The deductive approach guided the design of this modeling framework. The authors empirically validated the MFSM in two ways. First, the authors identified the signification processes used in articles that deal with semantic modeling. The authors then applied the MFSM to model the semantic context of the literature about lean manufacturing, a field of management science. Findings: The MFSM presents a highly consistent approach about the signification process, integrates the semantic modeling literature in a new and comprehensive view; and permits the modeling of any semantic context, thus facilitating the development of knowledge organization systems based on semantic search. Research limitations/implications: The use of MFSM is manual and, thus, requires a considerable effort of the team that decides to model a semantic context. In this paper, the modeling was generated by specialists, and in the future should be applicated to lay users. Practical implications: The MFSM opens up avenues to a new form of classification of documents, as well as for the development of tools based on the semantic search, and to investigate how users do their searches. Social implications: The MFSM can be used to model archives semantically in public or private settings. In future, it can be incorporated to search engines for more efficient searches of users. Originality/value: The MFSM provides a new and comprehensive approach about the elementary levels and activities in the process of signification. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the problem of information and knowledge management (IKM) in higher education institutions. The research aims to determine the way in which the knowledge resources of a higher education institution are managed. The author intends to define how the information system is shaped and how information and knowledge are used in the reporting processes and for decision-making efficiency. Design/methodology/approach: In total, 38 university administration employees from six higher education institutions in Poland participated in the study. Information barriers and benefits resulting from the implementation of the central reporting system "POL-on" were identified by using the sense-making technique. The purpose of the interviews was to determine the procedural and behavioural conditions of the reporting and decision-making processes in higher education institutions in Poland. Findings: This paper suggests four characteristics of IKM in higher education institutions. A link between the information culture of the institution, its size and structure as well as the adopted model of IKM is demonstrated. Originality/value: The main contribution of this paper is to introduce a framework for studying the IKM in higher education institutions from the perspective of information culture. Higher education institutions have developed different styles of striving for efficiency regarding decision making and reporting in administration. Introduction: Vocabulary control in information resource storage, treatment and retrieval systems is necessary to obtain consistency between indexing and retrieval in order to avoid informational dispersion. Digital repositories in universities are currently fundamental in the organization and management of knowledge generated by scientific, technological, artistic, and administrative production, however, it is necessary to verify the availability of controlled vocabulary and how vocabulary control is carried out. Objective: With the objective of systematizing a proposal for vocabulary control and the use of controlled vocabularies in university repositories managed by libraries, an evaluation model was developed that proposes to systematize methods, procedures, resources, and techniques. Methodology: For this, the development of the investigation carried out exploratory research with bibliographic and documentary research and applied research in the Unesp Repository. Results: The results obtained constituted an Action Plan, discussed and elaborated by the Study Group, composed of six actions and nine studies to evaluate and control vocabulary in university repositories about: vocabulary control in indexing by professionals and non-professionals; vocabulary control in retrieval; use of subject metadata from academic papers; keyword matching; analysis of terminological variations at semantic, syntactic and pragmatic levels; analysis of transaction logs for searches by subject. Conclusion: It is concluded that the systematization of actions in an evaluation model is relevant for university repositories to incorporate the advances offered by vocabulary control in their routines and, mainly, for the contribution of new terms arising from scientific and technological evolution. During the development of a simulation project, people involved in the study acquire greater knowledge of the system being simulated. However, this knowledge is usually not externalized and ends up being lost at the end of the project. In this context, knowledge management allied with information technology may assist in information management and enable the collection, storage, and dissemination of knowledge. Thus, this paper aims to discuss and present a knowledge management system to manage and to store the knowledge generated by analysts in simulation projects. Our intention was to demonstrate a way that the knowledge can be stored and accessed at any moment by anyone to recover the development process and avoid mistakes during a simulation project. In order to achieve this goal, some graduate and undergraduate simulation courses at a Brazilian federal university were used as objects of study. At the end of the study, it was concluded that knowledge management integrated with information technology contributes to the work of simulation analysts by supporting information and knowledge management throughout the stages of the simulation projects. This paper explores the concept of the Web portal in terms of services meant to aid the user not only to go through successfully but also locate and apply its content to scholarship and learning. It is noted that how a library makes portals available is as important to researchers as is access to the information gained from their use. Supporting services for portals that have been developed without a model are further discussed in this paper.

This paper examines the role of the selector as the author compares the traditional collection development criteria with the acquisition of aggregate packages of electronic resources that are part of today's collection development programs among libraries. The paper begins by discussing the relationship between portals and collection development, in particular, the work and skills of collection development librarians. The author points out that the subject expertise characteristic of selectors can play an important role as libraries seek to develop function portals, implement federated collections, manage the chaos of the Web, and meet the challenges of the knowledge management enterprise.

The information professions need a paradigmatic shift to address the epistemicide happening within our field and the ways we have systematically undermined knowledge systems falling outside of Western traditions. Epistemicide is the killing, silencing, annihilation, or devaluing of a knowledge system. We argue epistemicide happens when epistemic injustices are persistent and systematic and collectively work as a structured and systemic oppression of particular ways of knowing. We present epistemicide as a conceptual approach for understanding and analyzing ways knowledge systems are silenced or devalued within Information Science. We extend Fricker's framework by: (a) identifying new types of epistemic injustices, and (b) by adding to Fricker's concepts of Primary and Secondary Harm and introducing the concept of a Third Harm happening at an intergenerational level. Addressing epistemicide is critical for information professionals because we task ourselves with handling knowledge from every field. Acknowledgement of and taking steps to interrupt epistemic injustices and these specific harms are supportive of the social justice movements already happening. Currently, higher learning institutions (HLIs) are facing their most challenging problem in inefficient information management. The knowledge management system (KMS) application calls for providing several benefits to lecturers and students, producing daily information, documenting records for evidence of a transaction, and eventually improving the decision-making process. Knowledge management can be coupled with fuzzy logic to deal with imprecision and uncertainty of data in a KMS. The ICT dynamic development has shifted the HLI operations from manual to electronic-based handling of related information. KMS is one of the systems that are of significant consideration in this regard. Nevertheless, such a system has not been extensively adopted as expected due to users' rejection of its use. In the present paper, the factors affecting the decision to adopt/reject KMS are highlighted. The study is qualitative and entails a critical review of the related literature concerning the topic, backed by interviews. KMS experts working with highly reputable HLI were interviewed. A total of 11 factors were focused on in light of their effect on the decision to adopt/reject KMS, as argued by the technological adoption theories and literature review. All the factors were validated and placed in ranks by the experts. From the results, a novel conceptual framework of KMS adoption was developed for Libyan HLIs to bring about technology adoption and improved decision-making. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of metaliteracy on collaborative and individual information behaviour (IB) among academic staff. The goal is to observe the impact of these competencies on knowledge management (KM) and IB in research tasks connected with the humanities and social sciences. Design/methodology/approach: This paper presents an implementation of two combined frameworks into a study on the IB of academics: metacompetencies described by Mackey and Jacobson in the metaliteracy model and Burke's triple-A model. By using the Dervin's micro-moment time-line interview framework, authors try to observe the state of development of information literacy and other supportive competencies among younger lecturers and researchers. Findings: Scientists develop patterns of collaborative behaviour based on seven metaliteracy areas in KM. Research limitations/implications: The study did not include students and other groups related to the academic environment. Their involvement in information processes is a very wide issue and should be the subject of a separate article. Originality/value: The paper contributes to research development in the area of information literacy as a KM efficiency factor. The growth of the computerization of processes and services has changed human relations and, as a consequence, have created new forms of attacks and frauds for users of digital equipment. Because many people use computers, smartphones, and e-mail to perform day-to-day tasks, various data traffic is susceptible to attack. This can undermine the competitiveness of a company that may have breached strategic information. Therefore, security and information management are fundamental factors for companies to keep due control and management of their business knowledge. Cyber attacks are represented by a growing worldwide scale of secrecy breach of relevant information and are characterized as one of the significant challenges of the contemporary world. This article aims to propose a computational system based on intelligent hybrid models, which through fuzzy rules allows the construction of expert systems in attacks on cybernetic data of diverse natures. The tests were carried out with real bases of attacks on the database of governmental computerized devices. The model proposed in this paper uses fuzzy evolving data grouping concepts. The extreme learning machine performs the training and the logical neurons of the unineuron type are responsible for creating fuzzy rules capable of transforming the knowledge acquired by the model into a database for employee training in companies, construction of other computer systems and awareness of elements which may harm the integrity of the data of individuals and companies. The novelty of the intelligent technique presented in the paper is that the nature of cyber attacks defines the structure of the model because the techniques of fuzzification and regularization are based entirely on the complexity of the cybernetic invasions. The binary pattern classification tests confronted with traditional models of the literature prove that the proposal of this paper can maintain the accuracy of detection of cyber attacks and still manages to construct a set of rules that serve as knowledge for the companies that wish to protect their information from attacks devices. This paper focuses on the engineering design of modular systems in the manufacturing industry, in which companies can benefit from modular and configurable products that fulfil a variety of customer needs. The purpose of this paper is to study the types of challenges faced in the engineering design of modular systems and the types of support needed to address these challenges. The topic is studied via a literature review and seven industrial case studies. The analysis method for the case studies combines engineering and business perspectives. The engineering perspective highlights engineering concepts related to designing modular systems, while the business perspective focuses on related managerial issues. We find that the studied companies emphasised different aspects of modular system development, despite having similar high-level goals related to the benefits of modularity and design reuse. We also identify several challenges, along with the need for support related to the engineering design of modular systems in the manufacturing industry. Current engineering design practices related to modular systems are not sufficient to generate the typical benefits related to modularity and design reuse; organisations must also focus on other aspects of the design process, such as knowledge retrieval. Built heritage documentation involves the 3D modelling of the geometry (typically using 3D computer graphics, photogrammetry and laser scanning techniques) and information management of semantic knowledge (i.e., using Geographic Information System (GIS) and ontology tools). The recent developed Building Information Modelling (BIM) technique combines 3D modelling and information management. One of its modern application is heritage documentation and has generated a new concept of Historic/Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM). This paper summarises the applications of these information techniques on the built heritage documentation. We utilise Web of Science Collection to monitor the publications on built heritage documentation. We analyse the research trend in heritage modelling by comparing the attention paid by researchers before and during the 2010s. The results show that photogrammetry is always the most popular method in heritage modelling. More and more works in heritage modelling have begun to use laser scanning, computer science, GIS and especially BIM techniques. Ontologies and 3D computer graphics are traditional ways for heritage documentation. Moreover, we pay attention to the roles of BIM on heritage documentation and conduct a detailed discussion on how to extend the HBIM capabilities by integrating with other techniques. In this paper we propose a modelling concept for the organizational goals as a tool to evaluate organization data conformance toward the organization goal. We suggest that this model is important in assisting the organization to utilize the organization data and information from the vast amount of data for decision making which will be in line with the organization's goals. We develop our model based on organizational goal elements such as the main goal, sub-goals, actions and tasks. A formal ontology is developed to specific role between the organization goal elements. We develop a metric model in order to interpret organization data. We apply a case study to evaluate our model development, metric development and relationship development. Overall, the main contribution of this paper is to propose a conceptual model that seeks to support the evaluation of organization data based on organization goal elements in the achievement of the organization's goals. Aim/Purpose This study investigates the research profile of the papers published in Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge, and Management (IJIKM) to provide silhouette information of the journal for the editorial team, researchers, and the audience of the journal. Background Information and knowledge management is an interdisciplinary subject. IJIKM defines intersections of multiple disciplinary research communities for the interdisciplinary subject. Methodology A quantitative study of categorical content analysis was used for a thematic analysis of IJIKM. One hundred fifty nine (159) papers published since the inauguration of the journal in 2006 were coded and analyzed. Contribution The study provides synopsized information about the interdisciplinary research profile of IJIKM, and adds value to the literature of information and knowledge management. Findings The analysis reveals that IJIKM disseminates research papers with a wide range of research themes. Among the research themes, Organizational issues of knowledge/information management, Knowledge management systems/tools, Information/knowledge sharing, Technology for knowledge/information management, Information/knowledge application represent the five main research streams of IJIKM. The total number of papers on organizational issues of knowledge/information management increased from 16% to 28% during the past6 years. Statistical method was the most common research methodology, and summarization was the most common research design applied in the papers of IJIKM. The paper also presents other patterns of participant countries, keywords frequencies, and reference citations. Recommendations for Practitioners Innovation is the key to information and knowledge management. Practitioners of information and knowledge management can share best practices with external sectors. Recommendations for Researchers Researchers can identify opportunities of cross-disciplinary research projects that involve experts in business, education, government, healthcare, technology, and psychology to advance knowledge in information and knowledge management. Impact on Society Information and knowledge management is still a developing field, and readers of this paper can gain more understanding of the dissemination of the literature of information and knowledge management involved in all relevant disciplines. Objective: Identify the research lines present in the Journal Información, Cultura y Sociedad (ICS), through network analysis, defining historical trends of interest, as well as opportunities to cover knowledge gaps. Methods: A cross - sectional descriptive study based on research published in ICS from its inception until 2016, considering as key elements the keywords, considering them as referring to the issue of publication. The evaluation had two approaches: number of occurrence of the nodes in the study period and analysis of power relations, scope and greater impact among them, applying Network Analysis (AR). Finally, it was comparatively evaluated the occurrence versus relations between nodes. Results: We reviewed 197 research papers, identifying 570 key words or research topics. The AR established that the majority of research papers have Argentina as the main topic, with a greater interest in issues directly related to librarianship, few of which correspond to cross-cutting themes and related to other environments. Conclusions: The greatest number of research topics in ICS are linked to library techniques and processes, so there is an opportunity to strengthen the content of the publication with transversal topics of an organizational type, such as knowledge management, information management Organizational, intelligence or business surveillance. This article discusses the topics of papers presented in the November 2003 issue of the "Journal of Library Administration." The first paper, by James Michalco, outlines the library community's understanding of user needs, how researchers' use of electronic information is evolving, and how libraries are responding to their changing roles. The second paper, by Lizabeth A. Wilson, explores how libraries are using what is known about user preferences and search behaviors to create access points. Meanwhile, Joseph J. Branin, defines knowledge management in his paper and provides some examples of how the Ohio State University Libraries has changed in response to the shift to knowledge management. The other remaining papers are likewise briefly described in this article. This paper explores some fundamentals of human perception, pattern recognition, concept formulation, and knowledge storage which suggest new opportunities to understand library collections and develop collecting strategies. The second section examines some current library approaches to portal construction, with some focus on architectural concerns. The third section returns to the broader view, considering briefly some aspects of the information environment in which libraries are working, and describing something about how the library manifests its services in a network space.

This paper examines the relationship between external knowledge sourcing and a diverse set of innovation outcomes in rural and urban establishments in the U.S. Existing studies in the broader knowledge management literature principally examine firms in a single industry, overwhelmingly rely on patent data to proxy for innovation, and cannot account for the innovations of businesses in rural American markets. By addressing these limitations using data from the 2014 Rural Establishment Innovation Survey of the USDA's Economic Research Service, this research provides novel insights into how externally acquired knowledge by American establishments may support innovation. Results of the analysis suggest that external knowledge sourcing may specifically promote product, process, and green innovation in U.S. firms. While collective results when external sources of information are divided by industry orientation fail to show that sources outside of a firm's industry play a dominant role in the innovation processes of American establishments in general, findings provide evidence for an outsized impact of these relationships within rural establishments specifically and suggest that external knowledge sourcing from extra‐industry organizations is most critical for promoting successful innovation in rural firms. This paper aims to identify the current state of knowledge management (KM) diffusion in LIS schools. In terms of content, we have identified two principal approaches to the perception of KM in the LIS community: an active approach, seeing KM as an opportunity for the LIS community to change; and a passive approach, seeing KM merely as a topic of information management with a new label. Our research analyzed study programs at 145 LIS schools and in 188 LIS study programs in the United States, Canada, Europe (in particular, Russia), Australia, India, South Africa, China, Japan, Singapore, and Brazil and observed the inclusion or non-inclusion of KM courses in those programs. We employ a narrower approach to defining a KM course as being one having the term "knowledge management" in its name. The findings indicate that KM courses are integrated in one-third of the LIS study programs analyzed, and in schools with an information science focus this figure can rise to around 45%. Given the importance of this area and various views regarding KM diffusion in LIS schools, we recommend that those who have already implemented a KM course in their LIS programs create an informal community of practice (CoP) on KM implementation in LIS schools and build an open database of lessons learned from such integration, thereby capturing and sharing this crucial knowledge in a single place. The utilization of ontologies in knowledge management has become very well accepted in many approaches for instance database, semantics, agent, natural language processing, etc. Artificial intelligent researchers have originally applied the word 'ontology' from Philosophy fields which means 'being existence', then the word spread in many scientific domain and ontologies are now used in several developments. The purpose of this research is to present the simple methodologies and methods used to build/adapt/integrate ontologies from the system requirement or by reusing and re-engineering other ontologies; also a process of merging approach will be addressed. The normal ontology engineering will not be suitable for non-expert user; and there are some tools for helping the user to accomplish the ontology engineering task, however, it is not that simple. This paper mentioned the observation and figure out the practical methodology for non-expert user to learn and create simple ontology with little background of them. The immense stock of information and knowledge available in the twenty-first century imposed the need for designing a new kind of profession or modifying existing ones, especially the librarian profession, and educate professionals in collecting and disseminating the aforementioned. If the creation of new knowledge is to be understood in terms of Ikujiro Nonaka's "spiral of knowledge" theory, then future library professionals should be instructed as to enable the process of converting data into information, but particularly focus on facilitating transfer of information into knowledge. In order to successfully manage the ever-growing number of information and knowledge, it became indispensable to educate and train a new type of library officers, which could take over the role of mediators and enable users to access relevant information, and, thus, help them create new knowledge themselves. This would require instructing future library professionals in managing available information and knowledge in the most optimal way, performing both tasks of Information, as well as of Knowledge Managers. Furthermore, as the world library funds are being increasingly digitalized, the role of libraries and librarians has changed forever. Library professionals had to adapt to the rapid development of information and communication technologies and use digital tools as much as possible in order to evolve within their profession. Thus, a new type of librarian or information and knowledge manager should be able to provide library users with adequate information and knowledge by means of appropriate software. This is precisely why it is essential to educate librarians, during their basic academic studies, as to how to use digital methods and tools in order to achieve greater efficiency in searching data and overall easier distribution of information and knowledge to library users. This paper will deal with the new role of librarians as information and knowledge managers and their education, as well as with the influence that libraries, particularly digital libraries, have on information and knowledge management in general. Finally, this paper will emphasize the efforts of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade to incorporate these new tendencies within the curriculum of courses offered at its Department of Library Science and Information Technology.
