Background: Blackgram is an important pulse crop. The productivity of crops can be enhanced through various input management and selection of suitable genotypes for different systems and seasons of cultivation. An attempt was made to gather published information on crop management for yield maximisation. Methods: This work was done at Department of Agronomy, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. A systematic cum integrative review of research work done in different parts of World, particularly in India was comprehended. The literature search was done during September, 2019-February, 2020. About 200 review and research papers were screened from various data bases like TNAU e library, ARCC journals, google scholar, research gate and scopus and 88 papers were used to write this paper. The present paper has attempted to highlight published research in Library and Information Science discipline contributed by LIS researchers in India during the last four decades, 1980-2019. The secondary data for the study was extracted from Incites, a web based analytical tool, of Clarivate Analytics. The study has observed that there were 4304 publications by Indian authors, which received 17523 citations. It has spotlighted the research themes of the top 100 papers; having the highest numbers of citations. The study has analysed citations, publication avenues and authorship of all 4304 papers. Research themes of highly cited 100 research papers in the areas of applications of bibliometrics, knowledge management and information seeking behaviour on social media received 6110 citations. Bibliometrics/scientometrics/informetrics were the preferred research themes followed by information seeking behaviour and other areas. The study has also presented the analysis with respect to collaboration. The practice of solo research changed with authors collaborating in projects and producing papers. Percentage of co-authored articles grew from 5.61 per cent to 12.66 per cent in India. An increasing number of organizations are encouraging and accepting the research information management system in the institute level to assess the research progress of the organization and bring out a report on scholarly communication activities. Open and commercial product on the Current Research Information System (CRIS) is emerging in the last decade. The Directory of Current Research Information system listed 25 CRIS system across European countries. The European Current Research Information System (euroCRIS) support the CRIS thought the European countries through the conference, working group and pioneer in the advocacy since 2002. This paper considers the recent development in the CRIS related activities around the world and recent progress in India. This paper describes the various challenges to setting up the RIM for the higher education institutions including identification of nodal officers, collecting faculty profile information, retrieving scholarly communication activities from internal and external sources, etc. Also, discuss the training programme to the nodal officer level and institute level to promote the academic identities and their importance. This paper analyzes the role of situational information as an antecedent of terrorists' opportunistic decision making in the volatile and extreme environment of the Mumbai terrorist attack. We especially focus on how Mumbai terrorists monitored and utilized situational information to mount attacks against civilians. Situational information which was broadcast through live media and Twitter contributed to the terrorists' decision making process and, as a result, increased the effectiveness of hand-held weapons to accomplish their terrorist goal. By utilizing a framework drawn from Situation Awareness (SA) theory, this paper aims to (1) analyze the content of Twitter postings of the Mumbai terror incident, (2) expose the vulnerabilities of Twitter as a participatory emergency reporting system in the terrorism context, and (3), based on the content analysis of Twitter postings, we suggest a conceptual framework for analyzing information control in the context of terrorism. The article discusses a survey which conducted to ascertain different considerations for implementing an institutional repository at the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India Business School in Ahmedabad, India using the Open Source DSpace Institutional Repository Software. It is indicated that the installation of the Institutional Repository is complex and requires technical know-how of different software. The factors including the creation of communities and collections, record organization into the repository, and record enrichment with metadata are essential for efficient retrieval of information.

Purpose: The present study sought to analyze the Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS) instances with special reference to universities in India. The article explores top departments, faculty's publications and citations of individual university. Methodology: To undertake the present study, data were collected from the website of Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS)1. The present study confined to 29 Universities in India, most of them are centrally funded by Government of India. The collected data were classified, analyzed and tabulated by using statistical methods. Findings: The finding shows that the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) holds the highest numbers of faculties 1022 (15.40%) and has the highest scholarly publications 16376 (20.68%) with Scopus citation 208604 (22.05%) and Crossref citation 175973 (23.26%). The department of physics, Banaras Hindu University has the highest scholarly resources 2508(17.96%), whereas, the department of physics and astrophysics, University of Delhi has the highest 107 h-index with 1347 scholarly resources. Originality/value: This paper investigates trends in the research information management in universities in India with the context of IRINS that unfamiliar to many library and information science (LIS) professionals, and puts them in the context of professional practice. To improve quality of life to the citizens, Government of India has proposed to create 100 Smart Cities in India (SCI). Each entity in SCI (enterprises) remains connected using Enterprise Information System (EIS) management. Citizens in SCI are also expected to use Internet of Things (IoT) enabled devices which will generate huge amount of data (Big Data). These data need to be protected. This would require efficient use of preventive technologies by the enterprises along with human efforts. In this paper some hypotheses and a conceptual model have been provided. Knowledge management (KM) is crucial for organizations to enhance their sustainability. While the issues of KM have been widely discussed in literature, there is less documentary evidence pertaining to KM adoption, practice and innovation for the Indian industries. The knowledge management practices in Indian organization are in infancy stage. KM is a relatively new business topic with much debate and little empirical data. Therefore, the approach adopted here is to generate data, analyze them and reflect on the themes related to the KM practices being offered by management thinkers. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to describe the implementation of a radio frequency identification (RFID) system in Pune University Library. Design/methodology/approach - The paper provides a brief overview of background of the project, barriers faced and changes that have been experienced after the implementation of the technology. Findings - At the initial stage the library is facing problems with regard to the lack of availability of technology experts in the library for the RFID system and also for the software. Later on the library applied some solutions and tried to minimise the problems and now it has proved to be a boon for the library. Agriculture education in India is unique with a flexible course credit system. The workflow behind this unique education system needs customized education management information software for educational planning and management with a reduced process time in education workflow. This paper put forth a prototype of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) developed for Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Mettupalayam. Three-tier architecture is used for FCRI-EMIS to be an effective distributed client/server system. The development is carried out in an open-source development platform. FCRI-EMIS is developed with four modules namely: College Management Information System, Degree Management Information System, Syllabus Management Information System and Student Management Information System to access, generate a report and analyze the identified entities. In the present conditions of Covid19, it is very critical for everyone to redefine what is safe behaviour and spot-correct it for safety of self and others. This article addresses some behavioural safety aspects of Covid19 in terms of why people take risks as they do; what are the similarities and differences between Covid19 and behavioral based safety (BBS) management, since both interventions are driving behavioural change; how to implement BBS after lockdown in plant, and the behavioral challenges and solutions for containment of Covid19. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to assess the present situation in the development of indigenous digital libraries in India. The study aims to evaluate different retrieval features of Indian digital libraries, especially those provide access to multilingual and multimedia documents. Design/methodology/approach - For this study, eight digital libraries originated in India, which are available in 24 × 7 timeframe and accessible worldwide through the internet, have been identified and selected. The retrieval features and other information on these digital libraries have been collected mostly from their respective websites and from other published literature, annual reports, etc. Findings - The paper finds that Indian digital libraries provide universal access to informative and culturally rich digital content related to South Asian region. The digitisation efforts in Indian institutions make these digital libraries operational. Research limitations/implications - The institutional repositories and open access archives of Indian institutions that give access to the current research literature are not included in this study, because their retrieval features are mostly similar to each other as they use either DSpace or GNU EPrints open source software. Practical implications - Indigenous digital libraries in India provide universal access to information and knowledge related to culture and heritage of people of South Asian counties. This study gives an insight on how diverse contents are integrated and disseminated to the end-users in a user-friendly manner. This study also indicates research initiatives on different aspects of multilingual contents in this region. Originality/value - No such evaluation on Indian digital libraries has been done from the perspective of information retrieval features. This study will generate new knowledge in area of indigenous digital libraries in a developing country like India. This article reports the first occurrence of leaf spot disease caused by Colletotrichum coffeanum on Tabernaemontana divaricata (crape jasmine) in India. The disease was observed on the leaves of T. divaricata near Gauhati University in Guwahati, Assam. The symptoms started as small, circular, yellow-halo spots and progressed to angular brown spots with yellowing of the surrounding leaf tissues. The pathogen was identified through morphological and molecular characterization, and pathogenicity assays confirmed its role as the causative agent. Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS) is a research information management system that provides details of publications and citations by researchers in academic and research institutes in India. It is an undisputed fact that the productivity of researchers is not uniform within and beyond institutions. A quantitative study was formulated to compare the productivity of researchers within and between categories of central university, state university, deemed university, private university, and college. The coefficient of variation (C.V.) and coefficient of range (C.R.) was measured to know about dispersions among data of publications, patents, Scopus citations, and Crossref citations. It was found that central universities and state universities have a higher number of publications and citations whereas colleges have less number of the same. Private universities have less number of publications, however better than colleges in case of citations. Deemed universities have the highest dispersions within the group. It is suggested to increase subscriptions of quality resources in the colleges and private universities and upgrade library services to enhance the quality and quantity of publications by researchers there. Introduction-This paper discussed the need of performance audit through LibQUAL+ technique in University Library users in West Bengal, India. LibQUAL+ Technique is developed by Association of Research Libraries (ARL) in the year 2000. It is a suite of services that libraries use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users' opinions of service quality. In this paper, an attempt has been made to measure the performance of Burdwan University Library and Visva-Bharati Library Users through LibQUAL+ technique. Comparative study of each dimension that is Library as a Place (LP), Information Control (IC) and Affect of Service (AS), Adequacy Gap (AG), Superiority Gap (SG) and Zone of Tolerance has been determined. This technique has been applied to know what library users saying about the performance of the library. Methods-To conduct of this study a large variety of data-gathering and analysis techniques have been adopted such as surveys, interviews, observations, etc. of the users of both the libraries. Findings-Visva-Bharati Library (VBL) performs better in all respect than Burdwan University Library (BUL) specially overall library performance of VBL (3.20 mean score) where as BUL (3.34 mean score) in West Bengal, India. Suggestions-Library authority should concentrate whether minimum service levels are available to users, what their desired service levels are but what they are getting (perceived) at this moment. Faculty, scholars and students opinion (feedback & suggestions) regarding library services have to take regular interval i.e. quarterly, half-yearly or yearly. Besides that, authority of university library should always promote introduction of new services to the academic community through notification as well as put it library website or university website. The article presents a paper about scientists' use patterns of information when doing research at the North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) in Jorhat, North East India. It states that it is necessary to discover the information needs of scientists so that libraries can provide the resources and services which their users need. Topics include the frequency of library visits, the purpose of the visits, and the library's schedule of holidays. Information is also provided on internet access, the rate of satisfaction, and the level of library automation.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine how the rapid pace of technological change, attrition rate, global complexities and the increasing amount of data and information available have complicated the task of managing knowledge for third-party logistics (3PL) service providers. Based on literature, there is a need for research into the development of a generic taxonomy components framework (GTCF) for the implementation of knowledge management (KM) solution for 3PL service providers. Design/methodology/approach - A four-stage model has been devised for the development of a GTCF to implement KM solution for 3PL service providers. The authors proposed modified Q-sort method and also used Delphi analysis in the four-stage model. The KM components were identified through literature study and discussion with subject experts. The hierarchical structure of the taxonomy was derived and refined through a survey among 3PL experts by employing Q-sort method. Findings - This paper makes several important contributions toward the objective of better understanding the role of 3PL operations in knowledge creation. The feedback from the respondents shows that the GTCF is of potential employment by 3PL service providers irrespective of the nature of the primary service they offer. Research limitations/implications - The GTCF has been devised based on survey responses gathered from 3PL experts in India. The findings of this study have implications for understanding the key KM components required for 3PL service provider relationship and also the weightage for KM components. Practical implications - The aim of this research is for the development of a GTCF which can be taken as the base for implementation of KM solutions for 3PL service providers. Originality/value - The contribution of this study lies in extending the body of knowledge of KM for 3PL service providers. Many organizations In India are working on knowledge management; yet there are smaller manufacturing units which are burdened with performance problems of employees and they are unable to focus on knowledge driven approaches. The paper presents a knowledge based development (KBD) conceptual model for organizations at inter-organizational level by using competency management. Various tools like questionnaires and psychometric tests, direct observation and job analysis were used as a part of competency mapping to collect data. The emphasis of the research lied on designing a model for assistance to the sample organizations in maintaining knowledge based focus for the various HR areas. Knowledge based development was observed on applying the model. The findings are measured and limited to individual employees only. Periodical literature plays a critical role in communicating information to the fashion educators in India. This paper deals with the impact of the changing nature of information needs of fashion educators and their usage of fashion periodicals at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi. The paper is in two parts. The first part discusses the transformation of fashion education in India and its impact on the periodical collection in the Resource Centre of NIFT. This paper discusses about the enterprise resource planning (ERP) market in India and the world. The current extension of ERP is e-CRM. The ERP market has become saturated and is on the dedine; and emerging from it is the market for small and medium scale enterprises. ERP, especially in India, is being offered by small-localized players to small and medium sized finns customizing it to the needs and their pockets. Taking this cue, the big ERP players have also started offering complete solutions to the small firms. Since the 1980s, administrative reform in a number of developing countries has been directed at achieving decentralisation of planning through the use of information systems. These experiments have not led to any significant improvement in planning and monitoring of development programmes. In this paper, we argue that a closer look at different approaches to decentralisation is useful in order to draw wider lessons about long-term impact. We trace the process of decentralisation adopted in two states of India, namely Gujarat and Karnataka. While both states are noted for their decentralisation efforts, the degree to which new work practices have become institutionalised has been influenced by differences in the structure of their planning apparatus and different approaches to the implementation of information technology for local-level planning. This paper discusses the introduction of schemes aimed at employee empowerment within a context of strong industrial relations in India. The pressure put on profit margins by a competitive business environment is forcing an increasing number of Indian enterprises to view employee empowerment as a serious strategic option. Getting workers to take responsibility for shop-floor decisions over quality, safety, productivity and material use appears, at first sight, an alluring prospect. It would seem that men and women at the bottom of the pyramid cannot but be warmly appreciative of power-sharing arrangements from which they have something to gain, but there are forces at work which can actively obstruct or quietly subvert attempts at redistributing power. The present paper dwells upon the importance of raw data for the development of science and research. The study includes an interview of 40 researchers and faculty members to understand their perception towards the raw data. It has suggested that the libraries can play a pivotal role in extending support to the researchers for organizing, archiving and preserving raw data for future use. Libraries may evolve a system at the university level wherein the researchers and faculty members be encouraged to deposit their raw research data in the institutional repositories, which most of the university libraries have developed. The article focuses on the Indian National Scientific Documentation Center and Its Regional Activities. Documentation activities in a country stem from the existence of active and vigorous scientific work. The establishment of the Royal Asiatic Society of Bengal in 1784 is an important landmark in the scientific activities of India. A significant feature of the post-war development was an all-out program for rapid industrialization. Many industrial and research organizations were established. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research started a chain of national laboratories for applied research.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the emergence of the human resource (HR) analyst role. The job posts on LinkedIn display the industry demand and skills required by the organizations. This study identifies the different knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) required for an HR analyst role in different stages of professional growth (i.e. entry-level, middle-senior level and top-level) across different industries/sectors as applicable to the crisis. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 80 job posts were extracted from LinkedIn. Details such as industry, job levels, qualifications, job experience, job functions, job descriptions (JDs) and job skills (JS) were collected. Further, 30 videos were extracted from YouTube and converted into text. Text analysis was conducted using NVivo software to analyze JDs, JS and job functions. Using NVivo, word frequency, word cloud, word tree and treemap were created to visualize the data. Finally, ten in-depth interviews were conducted with senior HRA managers based in India to understand the essential competencies required for the HR analyst role and the strategies to develop them. Findings: The findings indicate that not only technical skills are needed, but business and communication skills are particularly important for all job levels during a crisis. The JD word cloud showed words, such as data, business, support and management, and the word tree depicted HR data and change agents as important words with many related sentences as branches. General JS included analytical, communication, problem-solving and management. Technical JS were the most widely used and included structure query language, system applications & products in data processing, human capital management, TABLEAU, management information system and PYTHON. Strategies to develop these competencies included case studies, live projects, internships on HR analytics (HRAs) assignments and mentoring by senior HRA professionals. Research limitations/implications: The sample used was small, as the study included 80 job posts available on LinkedIn restricted to India. The study was restricted to qualitative approach and text analytics was used. Survey methods and a quantitative approach can be used to collect data from HR recruiters, job holders and senior leaders to understand the role of HRAs in the job market and then these variables can be tested empirically. Originality/value: Based on the McCartney et al.'s (2020) competency model for the HR Analyst role, this study has explored the KSA framework using data visualization techniques and used text analytics to analyze LinkedIn job posts for different levels, videos from YouTube and in-depth interviews. It also mapped the KSA for the HR analyst role to the various stages of crisis system management given by Mitroff (2005). Purpose – Human capital (HC) disclosures by firms are voluntary as per the GAAPs in most of the countries including India. Therefore, a wide discrepancy exists across Indian firms with respect to their HC disclosures. This paper aims to investigate the extent and determinants of HC disclosure levels of the Indian listed firms in a two-stage analysis. Design/methodology/approach – In the first stage, a 12-item index is developed and is used to measure the extent of HC disclosures of 97 listed firms. In the second stage, a regression analysis is carried out to ascertain the determinants of HC disclosure levels of the Indian listed firms. Findings – The results point out that HC disclosure levels have high variations among the sample firms with information technology firms having highest average HC disclosure levels. Further, regression results indicate that a firm's "size" and "employees' expenses as a proportion of its total operating expenses" have a significant positive bearing on its level of HC disclosure, and "industry affiliation", "globalisation", "profitability", "ownership concentration", "age", "structural complexity", "leverage" and "auditor reputation" do not have significant influence on its level of HC disclosure. Research limitations/implications – This study follows a cross sectional design. A longitudinal study would have the potential to determine any pattern of changes in extent of HC disclosures over time. Index construction involves subjective judgment. The study assumes that the annual reports are the primary documents available to stakeholders requiring information about the firms. Practical implications – The HC disclosure index constructed in this study can be used as a benchmark by the Indian firms to enhance their HC disclosures in future. It can be an aid to the regulators as and when they decide on an accounting standard for HC disclosures. The extent of HC disclosure of individual firms measured by this study can be used by the investors to identify the Indian firms which disclose more HC information. The determinants of HC disclosures can be used by the investors in identifying the other Indian firms (not in the study sample) which potentially may have high HC disclosures. Originality/value – The study adds to the existing literature by constructing a suitable index to measure the level of HC disclosures in the annual reports of the Indian listed firms. Further, this is the first ever study to investigate the extent and determinants of HC disclosures of Indian listed firms. This study empirically validates a new proposition which has never been tested by any of the existing studies. The new proposition validated is: firm's "employee expenses as a proportion of its total operating expenses" has a significant positive bearing on its level of HC disclosures. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) libraries represent an important component of the scientific and technical information system in India, but there are a few studies published in national and international library and information science journals that describe the thirty-seven member libraries. We provide an overview of the names of the libraries, their locations, dates of founding, subject focus, and holdings. We then review forty-eight articles that deal with one or more of them. We find that most studies have focused on resource sharing, interlibrary loan, document delivery, and the increasing use of e-resources. Critical, or national, information infrastructure protection, referred to as either CIIP or NIIP, has been highlighted as a critical factor in overall national security by the United States, the United Kingdom, India and the European Community. As nations move inexorably towards so-called 'digital economies', critical infrastructure depends on information systems to process, transfer, store and exchange information through the Internet. Electronic attacks such as denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures challenge the law and raise concerns. A myriad of issues potentially plague the protection of critical information infrastructures owing to the lack of legal regulation aimed at ensuring the protection of critical information infrastructures. This paper will highlight the legal concerns that relate to the denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures and provide an introductory overview of the law as it relates to CIIP in Australia. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to describe the progress India has made in its move towards a knowledge-based economy with details of how the Indian Government has demonstrated its commitment to the development of fundamental pillars of knowledge sharing infrastructure, knowledge workers and a knowledge innovation system. Libraries are identified as key players in building an inclusive knowledge economy (KE) for a country. Design/methodology/approach - An empirical study of the initiatives taken by Government of India as well as premier institutions and non-governmental organisations in the area of information literacy, lifelong learning and knowledge repository development was undertaken. These are reviewed to report on the contribution each of them has made in the development of KE in India. Findings - The practice-based examples of how information and communication technology (ICT) projects are influencing contemporary Indian society and an account of government policies in regard to ICT implementation and development towards a KE are presented. The impediments in the process of KE in India are identified and recommendations are made. Originality/value - This is an attempt to bring together initiatives and projects initiated by the Government of India as well as other agencies aimed at developing a knowledge-based society which will ultimately lead to a KE in India. Information technology has brought a tremendous change in the nature, boundaries and structure of information. The ongoing movement towards an electronic information society is pushing libraries towards automation and digitization. The revolution has brought impressive changes in the role of LIS professionals who are now being viewed as information managers/facilitators. These developments have also influenced LIS writings and publishing. This study shows that while the application of IT has gained considerable importance in Indian libraries, IT-based papers have surprisingly found less space in Indian LIS periodicals as compared to the LIS literature in general. The findings of this study also indicate that there is an uneven distribution of various topics within the Indian LIS IT-published literature; while some topics/areas of IT have received considerable attention others have been barely touched. Topics like IT in general, bibliographic databases, library networking, library automation and electronic resources have been found to predominate in the growth of Indian LIS literature as compared to the coverage of other areas of IT. Most papers (60%) have single authors, indicating a low amount of teamwork/collaborative writing. Abstract: IT investment by organizations in India has increased significantly over the last 10 years, as Indian firms have deployed IS for modernizing and reengineering their processes. This paper analyzes, in an exploratory vein, organizational and strategic imperatives that have influenced IS assimilation and evolution of the IS application portfolio in Indian firms. It first identifies three categories of organizations with respect to IS assimilation, and describes strategic and organizational factors characteristic of each group. Next, it traces the evolution of the IS application portfolio in each of the studied firms and analyses accompanying changes in strategic and organizational factors. The paper builds on IS assimilation studies in organizations from developed societies, and describes issues unique to IS assimilation in Indian firms. Purpose ? Considering IS as an integral part of the Indian firms under the purview of this study the paper seeks to investigate the TQM-IS relationship. Describing total quality management (TQM) on the basis of five principles: top management commitment, customer-centric advancements, benchmarking, relentless improvement and strengthening the employee base, it aims to analyze the realization of pragmatic goals by Indian firms through TQM for IS. Design/methodology/approach ? Data collection was done by mail survey questionnaires. The data set was intended to represent a large variance in their annual turnovers, worth of assets, IS budgets and the segment of the industry to which they catered. Addressed to the top executive In charge of the IS department the survey questionnaire was mailed to 300 Indian companies assumed to be making use of TQM in their information systems department. The questionnaire recipients were selected from a wide array of business areas and the firms belonged to different classes such as insurance, banking, software, manufacturers, etc. Findings ? It was found to be catching fast in India as a synergy between TQM and IS accrues benefits for improving the quality of products and services ? the most common ones being greater customer satisfaction, increased productivity of IS personnel and enhanced quality of services and products. However, the other benefits such as cost and time cutting on production and optimization of human resources too are rated well. Best implementation success was received in the principles of customer-centric advancements and employee enrichment by strengthening the employee base. Practical implications ? This shows that TQM has the capability to entice the primary as well as the secondary customer. It was found that the most important factor on which TQM implementation benefits rely is the top management support. The key influencers of TQM benefits were customer-centric advancements and top management''s support. Originality/value ? Despite the limitations of respondent bias in the methodology the findings are in compliance with other relevant studies and it is argued that the study is of global applicability. This paper analyses quantitatively the growth and development of Nuclear Science and Technology research in India in terms of publication output as reflected in International Nuclear Information System (INIS) (1970–2002) database. During 19 70-2002 a total of 55313 papers were published by the Indian Nuclear scientists in various domains: Physics (23033), Chemistry (16368), Life and Environmental Sciences (7203), Engineering and Technology (6960), Other Aspects of Nuclear and Non Nuclear Energy (981) and Isotopes and Radiation Application (768). Year-wise growth of publications and input of records to INIS database by India and other countries were analysed. The total number of records input to INIS database by India was 30356 (54.88%) and by other countries and international organizations 24957 (45.12%). The average number of papers published per year was 1676.15. The average Indian contribution to the world literature was 2.25%. Authorship and collaboration trend was towards multi-authored papers. Intensive international collaboration was found during the period and bilateral collaboration accounted for 80.06% of the total collaborative papers. More than 99% of publications were published in English. More than 60% of publications were published in journals. Most preferred journals by the scientists were Pramana 1327 (3.95%), Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Physics 1104 (3.29%), Physical Review-D 925 (2.75%), Journal of the Indian Chemical Society 783 (2.33%) and Indian Journal of Chemistry-A 734 (2.19%). In recent years there has been a drive towards the passage and implementation of freedom of information (FOl) legislations in many countries. Access to information is gaining acceptance as a necessary tool in ensuring the participation of the citizenry in democratic governance. An effective implementation of a freedom of information law is expected to lead to an open, transparent and accountable society. This paper identifies some countries which have passed and implemented the FOl laws and the relevance of the law in the Ghanaian context. Some basic elements of FOl are provided, a summary of the Ghanaian draft bill given and the basic information infrastructure in the country examined. The paper argues that an effective records management system is required to ensure a successful implementation of a freedom of information law and cites from the United Kingdom and India Acts to support this position. Some weaknesses of the bill such as, lack of an impartial internal review procedure, independent implementing and monitoring authorities are identified and suggestion made for solving these problems. The paper describes how Knowledge Exchange and Information Centre (KEIC) of Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad makes the newspapers clippings accessible for its target audiences (users). The bibliographic information (title, author, newspaper's name, date, product category, brand name, and company name, etc.) as well as full text (down-loading from website of concerned newspaper) of the article is recorded in the newspaper module. The whole procedure is done in WINISIS software and then the data is converted/up-loaded in GENISIS software to make accessible the web-catalogue of newspaper clippings for its end-users. Over the period of time using CDS/ISIS software (DOS, windows, GENISlS versions) which type problems were faced and resolved, the merits and demerits of every version, etc., have been discussed in this paper. In the age of information technology, the IT professionals and other organisations are designing effective but very costly software. The small libraries don't have capacity to carry too much financial burden by purchasing these types of software. However they wish to get their libraries automated and make the resources available to their users by applying very cost-effective software. Enormous information in the form of minutes of meetings, reports, newspaper clippings, articles in the in-house publication (Journal of Spacecraft Technology), papers for publication and for presentation in conferences, drawings, photographs etc., are regularly generated at ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore. Gleaning these contents for there effective management and delivery of services, and developing a comprehensive archive has become very important. These contents are in a variety of form and formats like text, still images, audio and video records, etc. They are already catalogued using library management software (Libsys). However the contents as such dealing with satellite technology need to be further organized with categorization and metadata with appropriate digital library software. This paper describes some practical experiences in building a digital library using Greenstone Digital Library Software (GSDL) and highlights issues that arise in the process. It also discusses selection and installation of on digital library software, steps involved ii content gleaning using Greenstone Librarian Interface (GLI), metadata, handling of different document types, customization, administrative functions and few advantages and limitations of GSDL. This paper describes a research study, carried out over the period 1993 to 1995, of the efforts made in India to develop and use geographical information systems (GIS)(n2) to aid district-level administration. We give a detailed description of our research approach, drawing from contextualism as a broad research methodology and using actor-network theory for analytical purposes. The main section of the paper provides an in-depth analysis of a major GIS initiative from a particular Indian government ministry. We conclude that the creation and maintenance of a relatively stable set of key actors with aligned interests related to the GIS technology had not been achieved in any of the districts studied by the end of the research period. Our analysis leads to implications for future action that go beyond traditional prescriptions, such as improved participation or better training, toward the need for higher-level interventions in such areas as educational processes and administrative structures. We then turn to criteria for judging the merits of an intensive research study and illustrate to what extent this study satisfies the criteria. Finally, we draw conclusions on the contribution of this paper to the promotion of intensive research and to the opening up of new fields of IS research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Stubble burning is an emerging environmental issue in Northern India, which has severe implications for the air quality of the region. Although stubble burning occurs twice during a year, first during April–May and again in October–November due to paddy burning, the effects are severe during October–November months. This is exacerbated by the role of meteorological parameters and presence of inversion conditions in the atmosphere. The deterioration in the atmospheric quality can be attributed to the emissions from stubble burning which can be perceived from the changes observed in land use land cover (LULC) pattern, fire events, and sources of aerosol and gaseous pollutants. In addition, wind speed and wind direction also play a role in changing the concentration of pollutants and particulate matter over a specified area. The present study has been carried out for the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh to study the influence of stubble burning on the aerosol load of this region of Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP). In this study, the aerosol level, smoke plume characteristics, long-range transport of pollutants, and affected areas during October–November from year 2016 to 2020 were examined over the Indo-Gangetic Plains (Northern India) region by the satellite observations. By MODIS-FIRMS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer-Fire Information for Resource Management System) observations, it was revealed that there was an increase in stubble burning events with the highest number of events being observed during the year 2016 and then a decrease in the number of events in subsequent years from 2017 to 2020. MODIS observations revealed a strong AOD gradient from west to east. The prevailing north-westerly winds assist the spread of smoke plumes over Northern India during the peak burning season of October to November. The findings of this study might be used to expand on the atmospheric processes that occur over northern India during the post-monsoon season. The pollutant, smoke plume features, and impacted regions of biomass-burning aerosols in this region are critical for weather and climate research, especially given the rising trend in agricultural burning over the previous two decades. Cloud-based information management is one of the leading competitive differentiation strategies for firms. With the increasing criticality of information management in value creation and process support, establishing an integrated capability with cloud computing is vital for organizational success in the changing landscape of business competition. These issues have received scant attention, however. We draw on the resource-based view, dynamic capability hierarchy concepts, and the perspective of operand and operant resources to suggest a cloud value appropriation model for firms. We argue that, to appropriate business value from cloud computing, the firm needs to effectively deploy cloud computing and leverage cloud operant resources as firm capabilities in a hierarchical fashion toward the development of cloud computing-based service models in order to reliably achieve the desired business outcomes. We propose a model encompassing the principles of infrastructure and cloud platform deployment, integration and service orientation, and alignment with business processes that explain the linkage from cloud computing to firm performance. We test this approach to value creation with a cloud computing implementation assessment model using a sample of 147 firms that have implemented cloud computing in India. Our analysis uncovers a strategic value appropriation path from cloud technological capability to firm performance via cloud integration capability, cloud service portfolio capability, and business flexibility. This research offers new insights regarding the underlying mechanisms for how cloud computing affects firm performance via cloud-enabled capabilities and the business functions that are supported by cloud capabilities.
