Subject to various restrictive requirements on project application and completion, funded projects are often affected by funding policies for the selection of research objects. This study explored the impact of scientific research funding policies on the funding and research by comparing the topic distribution of awards and papers. A total of 1,870 awards and 16,491 papers of the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC) in library and information science (LIS) were collected from a Chinese research project database. According to the results, the growth rate of awards on most topics is higher than that of papers, while the growth rate of papers on the relevant topics to users, technology, and metrology is higher than that of awards. It was found out in the study that the topics funded by NSSFC were imbalanced. NSSFC provides much more funding to traditional topics rather than emerging topics. As indicated by the funding provided to the projects on traditional topics for research on a large number of papers on emerging topics, however, the innovation and diversity of academic research have yet to be restricted. This study demonstrated that the effect of funding policies on the research topics in LIS is significant. Topic suggestions and funding structure of NSSFC have more impacts on award topics than on paper topics. The influence of NSSFC-recommended topics on paper topics is declining year by year. Additionally, awards with high funding intensity are more susceptible to topic suggestions.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as an innovative technology with the potential to revolutionize various industries including libraries and information science. Academic libraries are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance services, improve efficiency, and enhance user experience. This study utilizes a bibliometric approach to comprehensively analyze current research on AI in academic libraries (AI in ALs). This study employed bibliometric indicators to identify key trends, patterns, and research gaps in the existing literature. A comprehensive dataset of 373 research papers on AI in ALs published between 2002 and 2022 was collected and analyzed using the Scopus database. Various bibliometric tools, such as Biblioshiny, VOSviewer, and BibExcel, have enhanced this analysis. The findings of this study provide important insights. By 2022, there were 64 publications, constituting 17.16% of the total corpus, accompanied by 65 citations. In contrast, 2019 witnessed only 33 publications yet accumulated a substantial number of citations, amounting to 294, representing 8.85% of the overall citations. Conference papers exhibited the highest frequency among different publication types, with 165 publications, whereas journal articles had the highest citation count, accumulating 217 citations. Geographically, China emerged as the leading contributor with 119 publications, and Wuhan University stood out as the most prominent affiliation. Notably, the "Lecture Notes in Computer Science" series emerged as the most prolific source title, publishing 15 articles, of which eight were cited. Background: Cultural-historical activity theory is an important theory in modern psychology. In recent years, it has drawn more attention from related disciplines including information science. Argument: This paper argues that activity theory and domain analysis which uses the theory as one of its bases could bring about some important metatheoretical implications for information science. Elabouration: After briefly reviewing the sociocultural historical theory and activity theory, this paper analyses the implications of these theories for information science, which includes reinterpretation of the goal of information science and a holistic view on user studies, on a metatheoretical level. It explains the lessons of broad information outlook in China from the perspective of the domain analytic paradigm in information science and provides some enlightenment about the disciplinary construction of information science. Conclusion: Metatheoretical implications of activity theory and domain analysis for information science discussed in this paper can provide guidelines for theory construction of information science. Domain analytic paradigm and its related theories in other disciplines are the most appropriate and fruitful orientation of information science at present and in the future. The journal structure in the China Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations Database (CSTPCD) is analyzed from three perspectives: the database level, the specialty level, and the institutional level (i.e., university journals vs. journals issued by the Chinese Academy of Sciences). The results are compared with those for (Chinese) journals included in the Science Citation Index (SCI). The frequency of journal–journal citation relations in the CSTPCD is an order of magnitude lower than in the SCI. Chinese journals, especially high-quality journals, prefer to cite international journals rather than domestic ones; however, Chinese journals do not get an equivalent reception from their international counterparts. The international visibility of Chinese journals is low, but varies among fields of science. The article discusses the significance of information literacy towards the academic performance of English as second language (ESL) students from China. The American academic system requires students to be self-reliant and independent in their quest for knowledge, thus making it difficult for foreign students specifically East Asian students to adapt to the American educational process. Students must be information literate to be able to successfully adapt to the independent learning common in the American academe. East Asian students should give emphasis to the development of their ability to be self-reliant through aquatinting themselves with the value of information literacy.

The study is an attempt to understand the trends in LIS research by analyzing published literature on the topic. The study identifies and analyses 39 research papers on LIS research trends in various countries, three papers on LIS research trends in regional countries and 13 papers on LIS research trends with an international perspective. The findings of the study reveal that there is a similarity among various countries as far as the LIS research topics are concerned but with a different focus at different periods. While understanding international research trends in LIS, it was interesting to note that the research trend in China was similar to the worldwide research trend while the pattern in other countries differed. The paper introduces data on the employment of postgraduates in the Department of Information Management of Peking University in 2000-2009. Master's graduates in LIS in Peking University have a wide job choice. In China, the job market for postgraduates in LIS is composed of enterprises and business organizations, rather than libraries and information centres only. The paper discusses the challenges in the job market in China: with the increase in popularity of higher education, the number of graduates is continuing to rise and graduates' employment pressure is up. Employer's views on qualifications for people have changed greatly. Some organizations expect to recruit graduates of "great capacity". It is important to build a road to improve Master's employment competitiveness in LIS in China. With an example of teaching and practice in the Department of Information Management in Peking University, this paper proposes some suggestions for improving postgraduates' employment competitiveness in LIS. 1) Broadening academic vision, information science as major and others as minor. 2) Emphasis on training of comprehensive quality and improving their employment competitiveness. 3) Providing a relaxed academic environment and enhancing their autonomous learning and research abilities. Spatial autocorrelation describes the interdependent relationship between the realizations or observations of a variable that is distributed across a geographical landscape, which may be divided into different units/areas according to natural or political boundaries. Researchers of Geographical Information Science (GIS) always consider spatial autocorrelation. However, spatial autocorrelation research covers a wide range of disciplines, not only GIS, but spatial econometrics, ecology, biology, etc. Since spatial autocorrelation relates to multiple disciplines, it is difficult gain a wide breadth of knowledge on all its applications, which is very important for beginners to start their research as well as for experienced scholars to consider new perspectives in their works. Scientometric analyses are conducted in this paper to achieve this end. Specifically, we employ scientometrc indicators and scientometric network mapping techniques to discover influential journals, countries, institutions, and research communities; key topics and papers; and research development and trends. The conclusions are: (1) journals categorized into ecological and biological domains constitute the majority of TOP journals;(2) northern American countries, European countries, Australia, Brazil, and China contribute the most to spatial autocorrelation-related research; (3) eleven research communities consisting of three geographical communities and eight communities of other domains were detected; (4) hot topics include spatial autocorrelation analysis for molecular data, biodiversity, spatial heterogeneity, and variability, and problems that have emerged in the rapid development of China; and (5) spatial statistics-based approaches and more intensive problem-oriented applications are, and still will be, the trend of spatial autocorrelation-related research. A total of 7,707 agronomy papers (2006 to 2011) by Chinese, Indian, and Japanese authors were identified in theWeb of Science(WoS) database. The impact factors (IFs) of papers and the uncited paper rate (UPR) in a particular journal with a given country's authorship was calculated as IFs calculated inJournal Citation Reports. For India, the impact factors of articles authored within one country (within-country impact factor) were significantly lower than the overall IF. The impact factors of collaborative articles (collaborative impact factor) and within-country impact factors for the three countries differed significantly. The uncited rates of collaborative papers (uncited collaborative paper rate) and uncited rates of papers authored within one country (uncited within-country paper rate) of China and Japan were significantly different. However, for India, the uncited collaborative paper rate was significantly lower than the uncited within-country paper rate; collaboration (mostly with developed countries) exerted a negative effect. Mendeley reader count is good evidence of the early impact of scientific output since it appears before citations. This paper aims to scope and compare Mendeley readers of Library and Information Science (LIS) articles published from India and China. Mendeley readership data for the highly cited 1,000 articles in Web of Science are extracted using Webometric Analyst for both countries and are analysed using Excel and SPSS. The findings reveal that LIS articles that are published from China got more readers as compared to LIS articles published from India with an excess of 97 readers per paper on Mendeley. The occupational status of readers tells that PhD students are the top readers for both the countries’ publications, followed by masters students. Discipline-wise readership shows that readers were spread across 29 different fields, with the highest readers from business, management and accounting, followed by computer science for both countries’ publications. Location-wise readership depicts that the top engaged readers are from the United States for both the countries’ publications. Finally, the study reports a positive association between citations and Mendeley bookmarks, justifying that Mendeley readership can be used to measure the early research impact of LIS scholarship in both countries. This study proposes a new method named the IIS-map-based method for analyzing interactions in face-to-face collaborative learning settings. This analysis method is conducted in three steps: firstly, drawing an initial IIS-map according to collaborative tasks; secondly, coding and segmenting information flows into information items of IIS; thirdly, computing attributes of information flows and analyzing relationships between attributes and group performance. An example illustrates how the methodology uncovers the interaction process based on information flows. The empirical study aims to validate the effectiveness of this method through thirty groups' interactions. The result indicates that quantity of activation of the targeting knowledge network can predict group performance and the IIS-map-based analysis method can analyze interactions effectively. In recent years, China's economic development has advanced by leaps and bounds, but the development of China's rural logistics system is still at its primary stage. Some remote areas with inconvenient transportation are still in a state of serious lack or even blank, and due to the high cost of rural logistics delivery services, the rural logistics business of the enterprise also has a profit problem, which limits the development of rural logistics talent innovation to some extent. The purpose of this paper is to study a new influencing factor model of the Internet rural logistics talent innovation mechanism. This paper innovatively proposes countermeasures to improve the innovation of e-commerce practitioners in rural areas. Through research, the author finds that the innovation of rural e-commerce application talents in China is generally low. The key point of the solution lies in how to improve the level of innovation in rural e-commerce application talents. According to the status quo, identify the factors that hinder the innovation and improvement of rural e-commerce application talents. Combined with the great environment of the development of rural e-commerce industry in China, the paper proposes to improve the countermeasures for improving the innovation of rural e-commerce application talents. This paper presents an empirical analysis of the supply-and-demand dynamics in the library and information science (LIS) academic market in China. This analysis is based on a broad concept of academic market and large-scale labor-market data. The authors find a shift in faculty positions, in which traditional positions in universities and research institutions have been replaced with relatively new, temporary academic positions, such as contract-based positions, research librarians, and army lecturers. In addition, they speculate that institutional prestige contributes to a structural mismatch in the Chinese LIS market. Confronted with a changing academic job market, LIS institutions and associations need to strengthen the training of doctoral students' transferable skills to improve their entry into the academic market. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to investigate the supply and demand of the LIS academic market in China, which can provide a reference for the global LIS academic community. Big data starts booming in 2013 and has multiple applications in all walks of life. In such an environment, big data for information technology (BDI) and decision making (BDD) have formed some hot topics in common. This paper reviews the body of BDI and BDD research studies from 1994 to 2020, using bibliometrics analysis. The aim of this paper is to explore the current status, the correlation between BDI and BDD, the future trends and challenges. From time and space dimensions, CiteSpace and VOS viewer are used to obtain the annual trends of documents, the distribution of countries and sources, the citations and the h-index of BDI and BDD. The top three productive countries are the USA, China and the UK. From the perspective of h-index, the USA and the UK are at the forefront of the world. The value of big data is realized through information acquisition, storage, analysis, expression transmission and service sharing technologies, and the decision-making techniques exist throughout the process of big data analysis. "Business" and "Information science library science" are the latest hotspots of BDI. The appliances in the organization, supply chain management, education, and the environment are recent themes of BDD. Big data technology processing capabilities and network security issues are the main challenges in the future. This paper investigates different uses of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) in national journal rankings and discusses the merits of supplementing metrics with expert assessment. Our focus is national journal rankings used as evidence to support decisions about the distribution of institutional funding or career advancement. The seven countries under comparison are China, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway, Poland, and Turkey—and the region of Flanders in Belgium. With the exception of Italy, top‐tier journals used in national rankings include those classified at the highest level, or according to tier, or points implemented. A total of 3,565 (75.8%) out of 4,701 unique top‐tier journals were identified as having a JIF, with 55.7% belonging to the first Journal Impact Factor quartile. Journal rankings in China, Flanders, Poland, and Turkey classify journals with a JIF as being top‐tier, but only when they are in the first quartile of the Average Journal Impact Factor Percentile. Journal rankings that result from expert assessment in Denmark, Finland, and Norway regularly classify journals as top‐tier outside the first quartile, particularly in the social sciences and humanities. We conclude that experts, when tasked with metric‐informed journal rankings, take into account quality dimensions that are not covered by JIFs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. We investigated the main research topics of digital humanities in China from 2012 to 2021, as well as the journals, authors, and institutions that produced the most research in this field. Method. Based on a sample of relevant digital humanities literature from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database, we applied bibliometric methods and visualisation tools for a longitudinal examination. Analysis. This study took CNKI as the data source and extracted keywords for an analysis of the research output, intellectual structures, and distribution features of authors and institutions. Results. Digital humanities research in China is strongly associated with library and information science, with eight major reoccurring topics and themes identified. The leading research contributors in China are authors and institutions that are also identified and highlighted. Conclusions. Digital humanities research in China rapidly grew between 2012 and 2021. This study depicts the overall situation and knowledge structure of the research and establishes a benchmark for further theoretical research and practical innovation of digital humanities in China. The authors reflect on the changes in China, and increased attention paid to the development of information systems (IS) will underpin national development across sectors of the economy. They present five papers, written by 74 authors in eight countries, that reflect an emerging quality in Chinese IS research.

Cloud computing (CC) has been a buzzword in recent years. The application of cloud computing has been seen in almost all domains. It has also sparked interest in Libraries and the Information field because it provides new solutions to the emerging problem. The study aims to map LIS's global cloud computing literature between 2010 and 2021. Scientometric methods were employed to gauge the global research performance on cloud computing LIS. The analysis also identifies the leading countries, Institutions, authors, sources, funding agencies, authorship pattern, international collaboration, and most used author keywords on CC literature in LIS. The research data were retrieved from the Scopus database. 808 publications were downloaded and analyzed with the help of bibliometric tools such as Biblioshiny, Bibexcel, VOSviewer, and Microsoft Excel. The study results showed that research on cloud computing in LIS has a mounting trend in publications and citations during the 12-year study period. The highest number of research papers were published in 2020 (n=135), China produced the maximum research in the field with 194 publications, and the top three organizations identified from Taiwan contributed the maximum research. Cloud computing, big data, and Knowledge Management were acknowledged as LIS researchers' most important research area. However, e-learning, library services, systematic reviews, bibliometrics, and blockchain have gained recent research absorption. This paper analysed the evolution of landslide research and research foci in different countries. The data comprise 3105 landslide SCI articles published between January 1977 and June 2015 from the Web of Science. The data are extracted under interaction constraints of the journal title, category, and keywords. The complex network method is used for the analysis. First, from the perspective of topics and methods, the evolution is systematically assessed by generating a co-citation network of the articles and a semantic cluster analysis. Second, from the perspective of topics and landslide-related disasters, the focus in different countries is discussed by generating co-occurrence networks. These networks are the co-occurrence of the countries and keywords, and the co-occurrence of countries and landslide-related disaster phrases. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) landslide susceptibility analysis and methods of machine learning are popular research topics and methods, respectively. The topics change through time, and the article output is influenced by increasing landslide-related disasters, increasing economic losses and casualties, a desire for a more complete and accurate landslide inventory, and the use of effective methods, such as geographical information Science (GIS) and machine learning. (2) The research focus in each country is related with the country-specific disasters or economic costs caused by landslides to some degree. In addition to Italy and the USA, China is the country most commonly affected by landslides, and it should develop its own landslide database and complete in-depth studies of disaster mitigation. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the status quo of digital poverty among adolescents in China, analyze the characteristics and the causes, then propose countermeasures to provide reference for alleviating digital poverty among adolescents. Design/methodology/approach: The study developed an initial scale of digital poverty among adolescents and used survey data to revise the scale, on this basis, formed a questionnaire, which was distributed to nationwide adolescents. The study developed its findings from the 837 valid questionnaire respondents. Findings: The digital poverty among adolescents is mainly shown in the poverty of digital ability, digital psychology and digital environment and presents the following characteristics, that is, insufficient information seeking ability and information selection ability needing to be improved; equipped with basic information awareness but lack of information evaluation ability; lack of patience in obtaining information and inclined to the principle of least effort; imperfect knowledge structure and immature psychological emotions and vulnerable to external interference; having a certain relationship with the information environment, but not significantly affected by regional economic differences. Finally, the study puts forward countermeasures to alleviate digital poverty among adolescents. Practical implications: Understanding of the digital poverty among adolescents will likely demand rethinking into a number of issues ignored by information poverty studies. This study developed an initial scale of digital poverty among adolescents and revised it by survey data, then conducted an empirical study through questionnaire, which could expand the understanding of information poverty in the field of library and information science. We collected research articles from Retraction Watch database, Scopus, and a major retraction announcement by Springer, to identify emails used by authors. Authors' emails can be institutional emails and noninstitutional emails. Data suggest that retracted articles are more likely to use noninstitutional emails, but it is difficult to generalize. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to further explore the co-citation and bibliographic-coupling relationship among the core authors in the field of Chinese information science (IS), to expose research activity and author impact, and to make induction analyses about Chinese IS research patterns and theme evolution. Design/methodology/approach – The research data include 8,567 papers and 70,947 cited articles in the IS field indexed by Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index from 2000 to 2009. Author co-citation analysis, author bibliographic-coupling analysis, social network analysis, and factor analysis were combined to explore co-citation and bibliographic-coupling relationships and to identify research groups and subjects. Findings – Scholars with greatest impact are different from the most active scholars of Chinese IS; there is no uniform impact pattern forming since authors’ impact subjects are scattered and not steady; while authors’ research activities present higher independence and concentration, there is still no steady research pattern due to no deep research existing. Furthermore, Chinese IS studies can be delineated by: foundation or extension. The research subjects of these two parts, as well as their corresponding/contributing authors, are different under different views. The general research status of core authors is concentrated, while their impact is broad. Originality/value – The combined use of some related methods could enrich the development and methodology research of the discipline, and the results establish a reference point on the development of IS research. Professor Wu Kun from Xi'an Jiaotong University of China has been studying information philosophy for 30 years. Actually, he might be said to have founded information philosophy in China. He thinks conceiving of information is one of the most fundamental areas in philosophy. He has done original and pioneering research in information ontology, epistemology, social information theory, information production theory, information evolution theory, information value, and information thinking directions. Based on the non-Archimedian infinite model C²R of the Data Envelopment Analysis, combined with characteristics of Chinese mainland banks' inputs and outputs, the paper sets up an index system of inputs and outputs as well as an overall technical efficiency evaluation model for Chinese banks, which considers not only the profit ability, but also the control capacity of banks risk. The overall technical efficiency values of Chinese banks are given respectively based on the samples of state owned banks and 14 integrated samples both state owned banks and shareholding banks. The input redundancy of labor, net value fixed assets, operating expenses, owner's equity, branch number and output deficiency of operating income, total increase in deposits, total increase in loans, ROE, decrease in bad debts ratio, are also calculated. The pertinence policy suggestions of efficiency improvement of banks are put forward. The results show that the efficiencies of new shareholding banks are far higher than non-shareholding bank and the all four state owned banks are commonly lower in overall technical efficiency. The overall technical efficiency of Agriculture Bank of China is the lowest one in all banks, and Bank of Communications is the efficiency lowest in all shareholding banks. The contributions and characteristics of the paper are: 1) the bad debit ratio is used to reflect the quality of the outputs, which is an improvement to the current literature of neglecting the difference in loans quality. 2) The inefficiency reasons of banks are list out by quantity analysis, and the pertinent macro strategies and concrete measures on improving banks efficiency are given, which is another improvement to current research that tend to give the efficiency value, but not ignore giving improving strategy from quantities analysis. 3) Banks overall technical efficiency values under several portfolios of inputs and outputs are given respectively, which not only overcomes the restraints that the sample size is at least the 2 times of the number of inputs and outputs indexes, but also measures banks overall technical efficiency from several directions. 4) It makes the efficiency values estimation more comparable by extracting four state owned banks for another efficiency evaluation. Combining both state owned banks and shareholding banks as a whole group of efficiency evaluation shows the real overall technical efficiency distance between two different kinds of bank and provide realistic basis for the bank reform of China. This article presents updates on issues concerning information science as of December 2003. The Libraries in the Digital Age (LIDA) conference will be held in Croatia on May 25 to 29, 2004. The general aim of LIDA is to address the changing and challenging environment for libraries and information systems and services in the digital world, with emphasis on the examination of contemporary problems, advances and solutions. Another conference on information science titled, Second International Conference on the Future of the Book, will also be held in China on August 29 to 31, 2004. The conference will discuss topics such as the effects of print on demand and ebooks, the future of the book from a library perspective, emerging standards for electronic and printed books and strategies to enhance the viability of the publishing industry. In other news, the Institute of the Museum and Library Services in Tallahassee, Florida announced the award of a project grant to the School of Information Studies at Florida State University. Meanwhile, the University of Iowa Libraries and School of Library Information Science have received a grant that will help recruit and train a new generation of librarians.

As the unique academic culture in Chinese philosophy and social sciences, researches on method framework provide an opportunity for understanding the thinking model and value orientation of the ancient eastern civilization. The field of information science has achieved fruitful results in the method framework research closely related to the unique discipline history and academic mission. The paper reviews information science method frameworks in China and presents their academic features from three aspects: 1. levels of the framework, 2. research strategies, and 3. essential techniques. Purpose – This paper aims to explore the effective ways to utilize current awareness services (CAS) for library and information science (LIS) professionals. It seeks to identify core journals for systems librarianship based on Bradford analysis.Design/methodology/approach – The study explored the methods for CAS based on literature review, followed by Bradford analysis of systems librarianship literature, which was conducted by the quantitative analysis approach.Findings – A core journal list for systems librarianship was built based on Bradford analysis. Three effective ways to utilize CAS by table of contents (TOCs) alerts were identified.Originality/value – To keep up to date with the latest literature in the field of interest, LIS professionals should take advantage of CAS. The study found three effective ways to utilize CAS by TOCs alerts and identified core journals for systems librarianship. The research can help LIS professionals efficiently navigate the information tsunami to obtain the reliable and relevant information that deserves their time and attention, and stay aware of new developments in their area of interest. The collection, storage, processing, and dissemination of scientific and technical information make an important basis for economic and social development as well as for scientific development. A nation has to develop the right mechanisms and modalities to collect, store, process, and disseminate scientific and technical information tailored to its own system. In China, scientific and technical information institutions constitute a major contingent collecting, storing, processing, and disseminating this information, and have played an important role in national scientific and technical, economic, and social development. The scientific and technical system reform staged in the 1980s, and the development of Internet technology in the 1990s, have spurred on the reform and development of Chinese scientific and technical information institutions. This paper examines the current and future development trends of these institutions, in the context of system reform, operational evolutions, challenges, and future development trends, based on statistical data analysis and information obtained from the meetings, field investigations, and literature surveys. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the great contributions made by the American library expert, Mary Elizabeth Wood, to Chinese library development. Design/methodology/approach – As a pioneer of the modern library movement Mary Elizabeth Wood devoted herself to a Chinese library career. It was structured according to the following theme: setting up the Boone Library and introducing the modern American public library into China; establishing Boone Library School and initiating Chinese library science education; raising money and appealing for China's library development; helping forward the foundation of the Library Association of China; as well as promoting Chinese library intercommunion and cooperation with the West. Findings – With the background of underdeveloped Chinese librarianship, Mary Elizabeth Wood introduced modern American public library spirit into China, opened the gate of Chinese library science, and promoted Chinese library science. Research limitations/implications – The paper discusses the library history of China and the role of an American librarian in Chinese library history; thus, it should be of wide interest to researchers involved in library history. Originality/value – Mary Elizabeth Wood devoted herself to a Chinese library career, and promoted Chinese library science greatly, but research on her is limited. Purpose - The purpose of this research is to compare several machine learning techniques on the task of Asian language text classification, such as Chinese and Japanese where no word boundary information is available in written text. The paper advocates a simple language modeling based approach for this task. Design/methodology/approach - Naïve Bayes, maximum entropy model, support vector machines, and language modeling approaches were implemented and were applied to Chinese and Japanese text classification. To investigate the influence of word segmentation, different word segmentation approaches were investigated and applied to Chinese text. A segmentation-based approach was compared with the non-segmentation-based approach. Findings - There were two findings: the experiments show that statistical language modeling can significantly outperform standard techniques, given the same set of features; and it was found that classification with word level features normally yields improved classification performance, but that classification performance is not monotonically related to segmentation accuracy. In particular, classification performance may initially improve with increased segmentation accuracy, but eventually classification performance stops improving, and can in fact even decrease, after a certain level of segmentation accuracy. Practical implications - Apply the findings to real web text classification is ongoing work. This paper mainly investigates the asymmetry of the conditional volatility of Chinese stock market by using the GARCH models. We collect the daily data of Shanghai composite index to analyze the volatility asymmetry. The empirical results show that there exists a distinct volatility asymmetry for return. In addition, we extend GJR model to the case with the information flow that is represented by the volume, and the results imply that the volume can't substitute the information flow to account for the conditional volatility asymmetry. The Industrial Clusters show more competitive advantage in the world obviously since 1970's, which attracts extensive attention from all over the world. As the most important researches of the New Economic Geography, Poter's diamond model generalizes the internal mechanism of clusters, but the model has not given the microcosmic status of the factors of the clusters, therefore, it is significant to go deeper into the diamond model and the dissertation wishes to do, some researches deeply. Based on the actuality of research, this paper surveys Porter's diamond model from the Evolutionary Economics, and combines the research of the field with the instance in China, then puts forward the diamond model of twin-screw and implements the model into traditional industrial clusters in Zhejiang province. Detailed explaining is as follows. The purpose of the study is to investigate the knowledge backgrounds of library directors from top universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to provide support for director selection and training in Chinese university libraries. The study selected 19 library directors from top universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The data were collected mainly from official homepages of the selected university libraries or library organizations in combination with some supplementary information from individual departments of targeted university libraries. Most library directors from top universities in mainland China and Taiwan were educated at the universities in which they currently work and lack management experience. Such directors tend to be well-known scholars from fields other than library and information science. In contrast, library directors from top universities in Hong Kong have more diverse professional backgrounds, including significant experience working overseas in library and information science. The administrators and hiring committees of Chinese universities should focus on selecting library directors with diverse and advanced qualifications, as well as developing relevant laws and regulations to ensure that the selection of these directors remains competitive on the world stage.Although some studies of academic library directors have already been conducted, few studies have focused on Chinese library directors. As one of the major alternatives, WeChat offers official accounts for hospitals to enhance their healthcare quality and promote their medical services. Addressing privacy concerns and user preferences will enhance the adoption and utilization of digital healthcare services, meet users' ever evolving needs, and promote the sustainable development of healthcare quality. User interactions and social engagement are crucial in shaping brand trust within the scope of doctor-patient relationships. Building trust and addressing privacy concerns are essential for successful adoption of digital healthcare services. Perceived ease of use and usefulness are among critical factors in technology adoption by the respective society. This paper applied a HIMS (hydroinformatic modeling system) model to simulate streamflow in the Luanhe River Basin. This model was compared with SIMHYD and XAJ models for eight sub-basins of the Luanhe River. The results showed HIMS model performed better than SIMHYD and XAJ models, in these areas. We then investigated the streamflow response to climate changes in the different sub-basins. Twenty hypothetical climate change scenarios (perturbed temperatures and precipitation) were used to test the sensitivity of HIMS model simulated annual and mean monthly streamflow. Our results demonstrated that: (i) the annual streamflow was positively related to precipitation, and there was a negative relationship between streamflow and temperature for all the eight sub-basins; (ii) in all sub-basins, the relationship of annual streamflow change to precipitation change was highly non-linear, but the relationship of annual streamflow change with temperature change was approximately linear; (iii) the annual streamflow response to precipitation change was more sensitive when increasing than decreasing; (iv) the annual streamflow response to climate change was more sensitive in the Xingzhouhe River sub-basin, followed by the Wuliehe River sub-basin, and the Sahe River sub-basin was least sensitive; (iv) there were few differences in inner-streamflow response to climate change in the Laoniuhe, Yimatuhe, and Yixunhe Rivers. But for other rivers, when the temperature changed, larger streamflow differences happened in winter and summer; when the precipitation decreased or was unchanged, the larger differences happened in winter months, and when the precipitation increased, larger differences happened in winter and summer. This study examines the evolution of current interests and emerging characteristics in library and information science (LIS) from Chinese iSchools, including an analysis of the LIS landscape, space distribution, citation, emerging characteristics, and collaborations. This study considers a non-parametric approach to outline the structure of the iSchool movement in China, while clustering analysis helped us obtain information about the descriptions generated within unsupervised learning groups. It was found that Chinese iSchools play an intermediary role in the international development of Chinese LIS, which further promotes the dissemination and exchange of knowledge and international cooperation in LIS.
