Three organic-inorganic hybrid materials, namely [RE(H2O)3K(H2O)2 (pddc)2]2H4[SiW12O40]·2H2O (RE = Pr (1), Nd (2); H2pddc = 3,4-pyridine dicarboxylic acid) and [Y(pzdc)(H2O)3]2H2[SiW12O40]·4H2O (3) (H2pzdc = 2,3-pyrazine dicarboxylic acid) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV spectra, TG analyses and X-ray crystallography. Single crystal X-ray analyses reveal that 1-3 all exhibit 2D layer structures. Interestingly, 1 and 2 are isostructural differenting from 3. In 3, the polyoxoanions [SiW12O40]4- connect the rare earth cations [Y(pzdc)(H2O)3]2C via Y-O bonds forming a (4, 4)-connected 2D topology net with Schl€afli symbol of 32.62.72. A rare monocapped trivacant Keggin fragment [A-α-AsIIIAsVMo9O34]6–has been captured and an organic-inorganic hybrid arsenomolybdate (H2en)[Ni(en)2(H2O)]{[Ni(en)2][AsIIIAsVMo9O34]}∙3H2O (1) was obtained under hydrothermal conditions. The structure of 1 was determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction and further characterized by IR spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX-SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Single-crystal structural analysis indicates that 1 contains the peculiar monocapped trivacant [A-α-AsIIIAsVMo9O34]6–fragment derived from the rare trivacant Keggin type [A-α-AsVMo9O34]9–unit capped by a triangular pyramidal {AsO3} group.1represents the first Ni-substituted inorganic-organic arsenomolybdate containing the [A-α-AsIIIAsVMo9O34]6–subunit. Abstract: A new β-octamolybdate-supported compound: [Ni(H2O)(2,2′-bipy)2]2[ β-Mo8O26]·4H2O·2CH3COOH was synthesized by reaction of Na2MoO4 ·2H2O, NiCl2 ·6H2O with 2,2′-bipyridine employing a conventional method and structurally characterized by IR, UV spectra, thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG–DTA) and X-ray diffraction. In the title compound, the two six-coordinated Ni2+ cations with distorted octahedral configurations are combined by a β-[Mo8O26]4− isopolyanion through two terminal oxygen atoms from the framework of the isopolyanion. It is particularly interesting that the title compound exists in a very “molecular” manner and not as an extended one-dimension chain, two-dimension layer or three-dimension structure unlike many of below-mentioned organic–inorganic compounds containing β-[Mo8O26]4− anion. Abstract: Interaction of the lacunary [α-SbW9O33]9– with Fe3+ in the presence of organic amines under hydrothermal conditions yields two novel inorganic–organic hybrid tungstoferrites [dapH2]3[enH2][enH]Na[Fe4(H2O)2(FeW9O34)2]·7H2O (dap=1,2-diaminopropane, en=ethylenediamine) (1) and [dapH2]5[Fe4(H2O)2(FeW9O34)2]·11H2O (2), which have been characterized by IR, elemental analysis, UV–Vis, TG and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both 1 and 2 consist of two [B-α-FeIIIW9O34]11− units joined by a rhomb-like tetranuclear iron cluster. Interestingly, 1 displays a new example of 1D chain-like architecture, in which adjacent [Fe4(FeW9O34)2]10– anions are interconnected by two unusual W–O–Fe bridges. Meanwhile, the neighboring chains are further assembled by Na+ ions, forming the 2D extended network. 2 exhibits a discrete dimeric TMSP structure constructed from two trivacant [B-α-FeIIIW9O34]11− subunits encapsulating a rhomb-like tetranuclear iron cluster with five isolated diprotoned dap molecules. Magnetic measurements indicate that antiferromagnetic exchange interactions are dominant in the hexanuclear {Fe6O22} clusters in 1 and 2. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
