- Abstract
Designed as an abridged reference tool for small rural school teachers and administrators, this report on the final Oregon Small Schools Program (OSSP) summer institute (a Title III Elementary Secondary Education Act project in operation 1966-1974) is divided into two sections. Three major presentations constitute Part 1. These include: (1) a student's evaluation of the needs of the educational system, (2) an elementary consultant's comments on the importance of teacher attitudes in regard to Oregon's new graduation requirements (1974), and (3) an assistant superintendent's remarks on the role of the teacher in implementation of the new graduation requirements. Part 2 consists of representative concurrent presentations dealing with construction and utilization of educational games; instructional objectives; community involvement (in the small school); children's special problems in the regular classroom; a plan for meeting Oregon graduation requirements (components of district wide involvement); guidelines for the selection of ideas on graduation requirements ("Simplify, Clarify, Beautify"); products of the new graduation requirements (benefits of the process of development and programmed change); and evaluation and performance indicators relative to the new graduation requirements.
