[EN]: The objective of this study is to determine if the criteria imposed by Clarivate Analytics regarding the penali-zation of journals that have an elevated number of self-citations should be applied to all journals equally, without consi-dering differential bibliometric indicators between journals. The editorial characteristics of the journal Adicciones, which was excluded from JCR in 2019 due to an excess of self-citations, were analyzed opposite journals of its same category, and different bibliometric indicators of the journal Adicciones were analyzed as well. The results indicate different edito-rial characteristics between publications included in the category of Substance Abuse in the JCR according to country of editing, number of thematic categories, publication language, edited numbers per year and editorial. The existence of a majority presence of a single country is observed in the journal Adicciones (Spanish authors in both published and cited articles). It can be concluded that the criteria followed by Clarivate Analytics regarding journal self-citations requires a review attending to the particular characteristics of each scientific publication., [ES]: El objetivo del presente estudio es determinar si el criterio impuesto por Clarivate Analytics de penalizar las revistas que tengan un elevado número de autocitas debería aplicarse a todas las revistas por igual, sin considerar indicadores bibliométricos diferenciales entre revistas. Se analizaron las características editoriales de la revista Adic-ciones, la cual fue excluida del JCR del 2019 por un exceso de autocitas, frente a las revistas de su misma categoría, y diferentes indicadores bibliométricos de la revista Adicciones. Los resultados indican características editoriales di-ferentes entre las publicaciones incluidas en la categoría Substance Abuse del JCR según país de edición, número de categorías temáticas, idioma de publicación, números editados al año y editorial. Se observa que en la revista Adic-ciones existe una presencia muy mayoritaria de un único país (autores españoles) tanto en los artículos publicados como en los citados. Se puede concluir que el criterio seguido por Clarivate Analytics con respecto a las autocitas de revista requiere de una revisión atendiendo a las características concretas de cada publicación científica.

Este trabajo analiza todas las revistas de psicología que se ha- llan incluidas en las diversas categorías de las bases de datos JCR (SCI y SSCI) y SJR durante el periodo 2014-2016 para tratar de identificar las re- vistas que se encuentran mejor posicionadas en esta disciplina, sus especia- lidades y los países con mayor número de publicaciones indexados en di- chas bases de datos. Método: Se analizó la distribución de revistas por paí- ses, cuartil y categoría para determinar la posición de las revistas en cada país e identificar los que tuviesen mayor cantidad de revistas de excelencia en psicología en la escena internacional. Resultados: Estados Unidos y Reino Unido tienen el mayor número de revistas incluidas en las bases de datos, así como Holanda, Alemania, Francia y España. Sólo 11 países po- seen revistas en el cuartil 1 en la base de datos JCR, y 14 en SRJ. Conclu- siones: Como resultado de la aplicación de los nuevos criterios evaluadores en la investigación psicológica en España, este trabajo aborda las dificulta- des y consecuencias que algunas de estas medidas pueden tener para la su- pervivencia de las revistas de psicología que no se encuentran posicionadas en cuartil 1 o 2 en las bases de datos usadas para la evaluación de los profe- sionales investigadores en esta disciplina This paper analyses all psychology journals included in the dif- ferent categories of the JCR (SCI and SSCI) and SJR databases during the period 2014-2016 in order to identify the journals that are better posi- tioned in the discipline, and the specialities and countries with the highest number of publications indexed in such databases. Method: The distribu- tion of psychology journals by country, quartile, and subject category was studied in order to determine the total number and position of journals in each country, and to identify the countries with more journals of ‘excel- lence’ in psychology in the international scene. Results: The United States and the United Kingdom had the highest number of journals included in the databases, as well as the Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain. Only 11 countries have psychology journals in quartile 1 in JCR, and 14 in SJR databases. Conclusions: As a result of the application of new evalua- tion criteria in psychology research in Spain, the paper addresses the diffi- culties and consequences that some of these measures may have for the survival of psychology journals that do not have a position in quartile 1 or 2 in the databases used for the evaluation of professionals’ research in this discipline.

The evaluation of the quality of scientific journals is a topical issue. The implementation of an evaluation policy based on international indicators has contributed to improving the quality and visibility of journals from different countries, measured through their indexing in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) databases. Currently, in some countries, such as Spain, the main criterion used to evaluate the performance of individuals, institutions or research groups is the number of publications made, especially in high impact journals in the JCR. However, the adoption of international evaluation criteria based on the JCR has been the subject of numerous criticisms by researchers, who are forced to send their research papers to foreign journals to the detriment of the journals of their own country, since in order to obtain a positive evaluation it is fundamental to publish in high demand journals, mainly published in English. [ES]: [Introducción]: La evaluación de la actividad investigadora en España, otorga reconocimiento personal y social a profesores e investigadores y condiciona su carrera académica. Los artículos publicados en revistas incluidas en el Journal Citation Reports (JCR), son los más necesarios para conseguir la acreditación personal y sexenios de investigación. En este trabajo, se analiza la situación de las revistas de educación incluidas actualmente en los JCR (SCIE y SSCI). [Metodología]: la muestra la conformaron 340 revistas incluidas en las categorías temáticas Education & Educational Research, Special, Education y Psychology Educational de la edición del JCR del Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) del 2016. Se estudia la distribución por países, cuartiles, idioma de publicación e institución editora. Se estudia la distribución por países, cuartiles, idioma de publicación e institución editora. [Resultados]: A lo largo de los últimos diez años, el número de revistas de educación ha ido aumentando en las bases de datos JCR en todas las categorías temáticas excepto en la categoría Education, Special. Solamente 8 países tienen revistas de educación situadas en posiciones de privilegio (cuartiles 1 y 2). Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Holanda y España, son los cuatro países con mayor número de revistas en los cuartiles 1 y 2. En cuanto al idioma de publicación, el inglés y el español son los idiomas más utilizados. Se observa que un gran número de revistas españolas publican sus trabajos en inglés y en español. Las tres revistas españolas con mayor factor de impacto: Comunicar, Revista de Educación y Revista de Psicodidáctica, publican sus trabajos en inglés y español. [Conclusiones]: Se concluye que, en el caso de las revistas españolas de educación, la publicación de los trabajos en inglés y español, contribuye a una mayor difusión de los mismos entre la comunidad científica nacional e internacional, aumentando su visibilidad y factor de impacto., [EN]: [Introduction]: The evaluation of scientific activity in Spain grants personal and social recognition to professors and researchers and conditions their academic career. Articles published in journals included in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), are the most necessary to achieve personal accreditation and sexennial research recognition. In this paper, the situation of the education journals currently included in both JCR (SCIE and SSCI) are analysed. [Methodology]: the sample contained 340 journals included in the Education & Educational Research, Special, Education and Psychology Educational subject categories in the 2016 JCR Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) edition. The distribution by countries, quartiles, language of publication and publishing institution is studied. [Results]: Throughout the last ten years, the number of education journals has increased in the JCR databases in all of the subject categories except in Education, Special. Only 8 countries have education journals in privileged positions (quartiles 1 and 2). The United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Spain are the four countries with the highest number of journals in quartiles 1 and 2. Regarding the publication language, English and Spanish are the most used languages. It is also observed that a great number of Spanish journals publish both in English and Spanish. The three Spanish journals with greater impact factor are: Comunicar, Revista de Educación and Revista de Psicodidáctica, all publish in English and Spanish. [Conclusions]: Therefore it is concluded, that in the case of Spanish educational journals, the publication of the works both in English and Spanish language contributes to a greater diffusion of the papers among the national and international scientific community, increasing its visibility and impact factor.

El criterio más utilizado para la evaluación es la publicación de trabajos en revistas incluidas en las bases de datos de la Web of Science (WoS) o Scopus. El objetivo de este trabajo es conocer que revistas de psicología, que publican trabajos de psicología jurídica, son las que están actualmente incluidas en las bases de datos Web of Science (WoS) y Scopus, ofrecer un análisis y comparación de los indicadores de calidad de las revistas en estas bases de datos, con el propósito de que los investigadores que trabajan en esta disciplina conozcan la situación de las publicaciones de su campo de conocimiento correspondiente y facilitarles la mejor elección para publicar., [EN]: The scientific publications are one of the basic dimensions of the evaluation of the quality of research of teaching and research personnel in Spain. The most used criterion for the evaluation is the publication of papers in journals included in the Web of Science (WoS) or Scopus databases. The objective of this work is to know that psychology journals, which publish works of legal psychology, are currently included in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, offer an analysis and comparison of the quality indicators of the journals in these databases, in order that researchers working in this discipline know the status of publications in their field of knowledge and provide them with the best choice to publish.
