Our paper presents the basic purpose of a home alarm system is to keep us and our family safe, and keep our home safe from crime and theft. This system is based on the LABVIEW software and can act as a security guard of the home. When the alarm is triggered, it emits a loud sound design to frighten away intruders. An alarm security system is absolutely essential for anyone who wants to protect their property from those who might try to steal it. Similarly it can protect anyone who is living in the home. An alarm system has following components- the input devices (which trigger the alarm), the output devices (which communicate the alarm like speakers) and the control panel (networks between the devices and is an interface for user). This paper presents two simple implementations of blade element method used for propeller performance calculation -- Blade Element Momentum Theory and Joukowsky method based on a simple vortex model. In principle, both methods require division of the blade of the propeller into finite number of sections (i.e. calculation points), over which a 2D flow is assumed. The focus of this paper is to investigate the dependency of the calculated solution on the number of sections and comparison of both methods. For this purpose, three propeller geometries were chosen and a simple method used for comparison was developed. The calculation was performed in LabVIEW interface implementing MATLAB code. Generally, the thickness of thick metallic plates is measured by exploitation of some physical phenomenon outside of eddy currents which are naturally limited for thin plates with respect to the skin effect. Indeed, it is the capacitive or ultrasound sensors which are the commonly used for thick plates. This paper proposes an alternative for thickness evaluation of thick metallic plates using eddy currents. The measurement system consists mainly of two eddy current sensors, an impedance analyzer LCR-meter and a personnel computer equipped with the Labview software. The plate we want to measure its thick thickness is placed between the two sensors. The proposed measurement procedure is based on lift-offs evaluation of a bi-eddy current sensor. The system has been verified and validated with success using several thick aluminum plates. Aiming at the detection of the sucker rod defects, a real-time detection system is designed using the non-destructive testing technology of magnetic flux leakage (MFL). An MFL measurement system consists of many parts, and this study focuses on the signal acquisition and processing system. First of all, this paper introduces the hardware part of the acquisition system in detail, including the selection of the Hall-effect sensor, the design of the signal conditioning circuit, and the working process of the single chip computer (SCM) control serial port. Based on LabVIEW, a graphical programming software, the software part of the acquisition system is written, including serial port parameter configuration, detection signal recognition, original signal filtering, real-time display, data storage and playback. Finally, an experimental platform for the MFL detection is set up, and the MFL measurement is carried out on the transverse and longitudinal defects of the sucker rod surface. In this paper, a new helical coil electromagnetic launcher is designed, which launches a magnet projectile without using any mechanical launching equipment, but by applying momentary varying current to the helical coil. For measuring the velocity of the magnet projectile in different stages, a LabVIEW-based software and hardware system is developed, and it is also used for improving the performance of the output velocity of the magnet projectile by changing the ignition time of the coils. This paper distinguished the new accelerator coil design and the software, which uses LabVIEW for the first time in this area. With the LabVIEW-based software, optical sensor data are acquired and processed, and ignition triggering control is carried out. Ignition timings on sequential four helical coils are optimized to produce the maximum acceleration in each coil, and thus the maximum velocity of the magnet projectile at output. An NI Data Acquisition 6010 data acquisition card is used for communication and gathering information throughout the entire launching process. In addition, the effects of changing the current magnitude, ignition time, magnet projectile length, and diameter to the output velocity of magnet projectile are investigated and discussed in detail. Chaos theory has wide applications in several branches of science and engineering. The discovery of novel chaotic systems in various applications, their qualitative properties and the control of such systems are active research areas. This paper derives new results for the analysis and adaptive control of a chemical chaotic attractor discovered by Haung (2005). This paper starts with a detailed description of the chemical reactor dynamics and the parameter values for which the chemical reactor exhibits chaotic behaviour. Next, adaptive control law is devised for the global chaos control of the chemical chaotic reactor with unknown parameters. Next, a circuit design of the Chaotic system and its adaptive lag synchronization are implemented in LabVIEW to validate the results for the theoretical chaotic model. Finally we used the synchronized system to transmit a message signal by masking the input signal with the Chaotic system. Secure communication between two parties (or systems) is done in such a way that the identity of the communicating party is confirmed and the confidentiality as well as the integrity of the message is maintained. The goal of this paper is to present an implementation method for a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm using an electronic load and custom designed LabView software. The aim is to facilitate the testing of the algorithm in laboratory conditions, before it can be used in the real world, improving development time, facilitating cost reduction and offering confidence in the design. This paper analyses the most suitable MPPT algorithms for testing purposes and suggests a complete software and hardware implementation for hardware in the loop testing which can facilitate in-depth evaluation of different algorithms. In order to replicate realistic stimuli for the MPPT algorithm, a solar array simulator has been designed. Using the proposed method, the performance of various MPPT algorithms for different atmospheric conditions can be evaluated. The hardware and software setup have been tested and validated in laboratory conditions. Though intermittent, solar energy is a clean and eternal source of energy. PV (Photovoltaic) cell is one of the technology to harness the solar energy and use it as electricity. In recent years rising cost of electricity and environmental concerns have made the solar PV technology a rising research field. In this research field the efficiency improvement is the focal point for the researchers. Because of intermittent weather conditions the output power of the solar cell varies directly to the irradiance level and inversely to the cell temperature and cell never operates at its maximum power. In this paper the characteristics of the sun power A-300 solar cell is simulated in a novel way in LabVIEW using MathScript RT Module along with a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) using variable step sized incremental conductance algorithm that operates the cell at its maximum power without oscillating at maximum power point. Impacts of changing solar insolation and cell temperature on output curves are also discussed graphically and numerically. The results of the simulation verify the data sheet parameters of sun power A-300 solar cell. Graphs of output power of MPPT indicate the accuracy of the variable step sized InC (Incremental Conductance) algorithm for constant and varying solar irradiance with fast tracking and elimination of steady state oscillations about the MPP which is comparatively better than the conventional MPPT algorithms as compared in the results. Magnetic materials exhibit varied hysteresis behaviour at different operating conditions. The exact determination of magnetic characteristics requires an accurate measurement setup. A low cost high performance digital hysteresis loop tracer has been built to measure magnetic characteristics of ferromagnetic materials under controlled sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal flux density waveforms. A digital feedback program is developed in LabVIEW to trace hysteresis characteristics using measured voltages and currents. In this paper, magnetic characteristics and losses of Grain-oriented (GO) silicon steel and ferrite materials are obtained at different frequencies. Losses determined by calculating the area under the hysteresis loop are compared with measurements from a power analyzer. This paper presents the development of three virtual resistance meters using LabVIEW. The unknown resistance is measured in terms of a known resistance of high accuracy by employing (a) a real dc voltage source, (b) a real dc current source, and (c) a virtual dc voltage source. In each case, ratio of two voltage signals is acquired by a single-ADC based multichannel data acquisition card. Therefore error of the ADC gets cancelled, when ratio of two voltages is used in the final calculation of the value of unknown resistance. The first two VRMs use a real excitation source and are thus semi-virtual instruments, whereas the third one is fully-virtual as the excitation source is also implemented in the LabVIEW software along with DAC section of the data acquisition card. The three virtual resistance meters have been successfully implemented. The principle of ratio-metric measurement used makes the accuracy (uncertainty) of final measurement free from the uncertainties of the ADC, the DAC and the excitation source. Standard deviations of the readings taken with the three VRMs have been evaluated and compared. This Paper describes the simulator development for the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) measurement of radiation monitoring instrument. The TID Detector (UDOS001-micro dosimeter) is a compact hybrid microcircuit which directly measures Total Ionizing Dose absorbed by an internal silicon test mass. The developed detector simulator, simulates the equivalent Total Ionized Dose absorbed from the space radiation and Ground checkout simulator receive the data from Radiation monitoring Instrument through UART and process it for the functional verification of the Radiation monitoring Instrument, which is discussed in the paper. This paper proposes an accurate and efficient testing system for the safety lock that is used in the suspended access platforms. The measurement methods conform to the standard EN 1808:2015. First, the whole architecture of the system is designed, including the mechanical structure unit, lower control unit, sensors and data acquisition. Second, the upper control software based on LabVIEW is presented. In addition, manual and automatic testing modes are proposed. Laboratory education is a core part of engineering curricula; engineering students generally prefer to work on something real. The classical mode and the oldest form of laboratory education is the hands-on mode. Advances in information and communication technologies have contributed to the laboratory education by creating two new modes, the simulated (virtual) mode and the online controlled mode (remote). Recently, developments or utilizations of hybrid structures of two types (e.g., virtual and hands-on, or remote and hands-on) have been reported in the literature; however, until now there are no reports of hybrid structures of the three types together. This paper describes the technical development of a novel laboratory model that combines the three modes in one unifying software package, namely the TriLab, by using Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW). It is shown that LabVIEW provides a single programming environment for developing all components of the TriLab. Furthermore, it is shown that the Joomla web content management system can be used as a solution for efficient deployment of a remote lab online portal on the top of the LabVIEW core software. The development of the TriLab using LabVIEW and Joomla for an Instrumentation and Control Engineering Laboratory rig is shown. The analysis of student survey is presented which has shown positive impact of the pedagogical utilization of the TriLab. In the optimisation stage of the systems one of the more important step is the optimisation of the dynamic behavior of all elements with priority the elements what have the slow frequency, like motors. The paper try to show how will be possible to optimise very easily the dynamic behavior of hydraulic cylinder, using LabVIEW propre instrumentation, roots locus characteristics and the application of the transfer functions theory. By appling the virtual LabVIEW instrumentation is possible to choose on-line the optimal values for each constructive and functional parameters of the hydraulic cylinder to obtain one good dynamic answer: maximal acceleration without vibration, minimum answer time and maximal precision. The precizion-stability problem is non compatible problem that will impose to use the Extenics theory and assisted on-line research. The paper presents some of the more important used transfer functions in the assisted analyse of the elements and systems and some practical results of the assisted optimisation and the study case of the hydraulic cylinder. The paper presents a virtual instrument proposed by the authors for voltage dip analysis. The main characteristics of voltage dip are theoretical presented and the corresponding LabView diagrams are explained. In order to test the virtual instrument, a voltage dip is then generated using a mathematical signals generator and the results obtained by the virtual instrument are presented. Measurements were performed in a 220/110 kV substation using classical measurement equipment and the recorded data corresponding to voltage values are used afterward like input files for the virtual instrument. Embedded systems play vital role in modern applications [1]. They can be found in autos, washing machines, electrical appliances and even in toys. FPGAs are the most recent computing technology that is used in embedded systems. There is an increasing demand on FPGA based embedded systems, in particular, for applications that require rapid time responses. Engineering education curricula needs to respond to the increasing industrial demand of using FPGAs by introducing new syllabus for teaching and learning this subject. This paper describes the development of new course material for teaching FPGA-based embedded systems design by using 'G' Programming Language of LabVIEW. A general overview of FPGA role in engineering education is provided. A survey of available Hardware Programming Languages for FPGAs is presented. A survey about LabVIEW utilization in engineering education is investigated; this is followed by a motivation section of why to use LabVIEW graphical programming in teaching and its capabilities. Then, a section of choosing a suitable kit for the course is laid down. Later, constructivist closed-loop model the FPGA course has been proposed in accordance with [2- 4; 80,86,89,92]. Before implementation into hardware signal processing algorithms are tested in simulation mode. LabVIEW provides highly convenient environment for simulation development and also tools for generation of simulation environment that can include simulation itself and collection of simulation data. Despite the fact that these tools use LabVIEW for code generation, it is not easy to understand the principles of code generation and effectively develop simulation generators. This paper presents toolbox for improved LabVIEW code generation. The developed toolbox is based on standard LabVIEW code generation functions maximally simplifying the application and minimizing the necessary amount of tools for code generation. This paper consists of theoretical part about LabVIEW code generation methods, practical part about principles of LabVIEW code generation using scripting and a graphical presentation of improved LabVIEW code generation advantages. The presented graphical results show that the improved LabVIEW code generation is simpler (thus better) and more understandable for practical realization and the code generator is clearer and more comprehensible than the original one. Based on theories of geometrical modeling, an educational interactive LabVIEW program is designed to enable hydraulic engineers to design 2D and 3D hydraulic structures like spillways and energy dissipater basins. The parametric definitions of curves and surfaces in geometrical modelling are based on matrices which are found to be useful when used for the geometrical design of hydraulic structures. The LabVIEW matrices, through the use of the build array functions, the build matrix functions, and the 3D parametric surface functions are used for achieving the purpose of designing this software. The LabVIEW matrices enable the designer to change the hydraulic design parameters very easily and quickly to obtain more reliable and more accurate 2D and 3D designs. With LabVIEW it is not required to write a program instead a block diagram is necessary to be designed for achieving a certain required engineering task which is much simpler than writing a program especially when the task is complicated. When used for class room demonstration, the environment of the program and its visual artifacts enabled the students to enhance their understandings regarding the design of spillway and energy dissipater structures. In this paper a real time Single Spherical Tank Liquid Level System (SSTLLS) has been chosen for investigation. This paper describes the design and development of a Multi Model PI Controller (MMPIC) using classical controller tuning techniques for a single spherical nonlinear tank system. System identification of these different regions of nonlinear process are done using black box modeling, which is identified to be nonlinear and approximated to be a First Order Plus Dead Time (FOPDT) model. A proportional and integral controller is designed using LabVIEW and Chen-Hrones-Reswick (CHR), Zhuang-Atherton (ZA), and Skogestad's Internal Model Controller (SIMC) tuning methods are implemented in real time. The paper provides the details about the data acquisition unit, shows the implementation of the controller and comparision of the results of PI tuning methods used for an MMPI Controller. The flatness control system is a multivariate and complex system with uncertainty of parameters. General modeling approaches can not satisfied the high precision demand of rolling process. And it is difficult to establish a precise mathematical model of the rolling mill. In this paper, T-S cloud inference neural network is proposed. It is constructed by cloud model and T-S fuzzy neural network. The uncertainty of cloud model for processing data and the rapidity of fuzzy logic are both taken into account synthetically. And it is applied for 900HC reversible cold rolling mill. A Virtual Flatness Intelligent Control System (VFICS) is successfully developed by integrating hybrid MATLAB and LabVIEW with T-S cloud inference neural network. VFICS is a virtual experiment system, which has realized flatness pattern recognition, flatness prediction and flatness control. Genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are used to train the network. Simulation results show that control effect of GA has higher accuracy and faster convergence and it is suitable for controller design. This paper discusses the design and implementation of laboratories and course projects using LabVIEW in an instrumentation course. The pedagogical challenge is to enhance students' learning of digital communication using LabVIEW. LabVIEW was extensively used in the laboratory sessions, which better prepared students for the course projects. Two course projects were designed to familiarize the students with virtual instrumentation, data acquisition, Modbus communication, and simple closed-loop control. One project involved the instrumentation and control of a brushed dc permanent magnet motor; the other involved the instrumentation and control of a small-scale temperature chamber. Students used one computer, functioning as a Modbus slave, to measure the motor speed or temperature inside the chamber and to turn the motor or lightbulbs on and off. Another computer, functioning as a Modbus master, reads the measurements using Modbus communication protocol via RS-485 wires, compared the measurements to the set points, made control decisions, and sent the commands to the Modbus slave for actuation. Fuzzy logic controllers are readily customizable in natural language terms and can effectively deal with nonlinearities and uncertainties in control systems. This paper presents an intelligent and automated fuzzy control procedure for the refrigerant charging of refrigerators. The elements that affect the experimental charging and the optimization of the performance of refrigerators are fuzzified and used in an inference model. The objective is to represent the intelligent behavior of a human tester and ultimately make the developed model available for the use in an automated data acquisition, monitoring, and decision-making system. The proposed system is capable of determining the needed amount of refrigerant in the shortest possible time. The system automates the refrigerant charging and performance testing of parallel units. The system is built using data acquisition systems from National Instruments and programmed under LabVIEW. The developed fuzzy models, and their testing results, are evaluated according to their compatibility with the principles that govern the intelligent behavior of human experts when performing the refrigerant-charging process. In addition, comparisons of the fuzzy models with classical inference models are presented. The obtained results confirm that the proposed fuzzy controllers outperform traditional crisp controllers and provide major test time and energy savings. Educational computer programming in geometrical modeling is an interactive dynamic educational method which helps to visualize; interactively and graphically; 3D geometrical models under different design conditions. Students using geometrical modeling in hydraulics can get large amount of geometrical data describing the x, y, and z coordinates of any circular cross-section of the designed 3D canal transition, a step which is very important in the modeling of field and laboratory 3D canal sections. They can visually and interactively perform mathematical analysis of very complicated models very easily. Educational programming of geometrical modeling is very similar to experimental modeling in which the students gets feedback from the computer program and adjust--if necessary--the model specifications and properties to get the best engineering design. In this paper, the LabVIEW Platform and the 3D Bezier surface design method will be used by the students, as an educational interactive computer programming, for the design of a 3D open circular canal crosssection having a hydraulic constriction and, a bottom slope of certain dimensions. This paper presents the design, implementation and characterization of a hardware platform for Fuel Management System (FMS) for fuel carrying vehicles. The primary design goal is to devise a system capable of monitoring the fuel level in real time. This system is proposed for fuel carrying road tankers which carry fuel from oil depots to end users such as petrol-stations. This system is based on hardware as well as software. The hardware part consists of fuel level circuits, on-board Arduino, GSM and GPS modules. While the software part consists of LabView for Database purposes. This system offers an Automatic Electronic System (AES) which replaces manual monitoring of fuel. This system measures fuel volume and sends measured volume to the owner's mobile as well as owner's computer through GSM network. It also provides a technique for detecting theft or fraud incidents in case of fuel theft or fuel leakage. Additionally the system can track the location of each fuel carrying tanker in order to locate the place of any incident that could have occurred. In this paper, an effort is being made to develop a fault diagnosis algorithm using Duval triangle method of dissolved gas analysis (DGA) as a backbone for more reliable fault diagnosis. The algorithm is based on integrated model which is the fusion of Duval triangle and IEC ratio method. It uses the conventional Duval triangle rules to detect dominant faults and IEC method rules to detect 'no' and boundary faults. Hence, the proposed method simultaneously checks the normal operating conditions, boundary and dominant fault cases. A graphical-user interface (GUI) has also been prepared using LabVIEW. Study of fault severity is also carried out for various Duval triangle zones. Fault severity is determined using concept of energy weighing, and fuzzy model has been developed for the same. The system has been tested using a fault database and shows accuracy of 93.6%. Results presented indicate a trend towards a more reliable system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a new tile dispensing decision-making to improve a row formation of a product flow-based tiling automation that has been being developed to support tile placement for custom mosaic design.Design/methodology/approach A new tile dispensing decision-making combines maximum tile loading and simple cycle strategies to minimize time for forming rows of tiles. The maximum tile loading strategy is for minimizing the number of loading rounds, while the simple cycle strategy is for minimizing the movement during the row formation.Findings This proposed decision-making has been developed; implemented in LabVIEW software; linked with other LabVIEW-based programs to control the system; and tested. The results showed the tile dispensing with the proposed decision-making performed better than the previous one.Research limitations/implications The tiling automation is being developed and is currently on a prototyping stage.Originality/value Tile dispensing is critical for this row by row automated assembly, but the existing shortest distance strategy does not guarantee the best performance for a row formation. Therefore, the combination of the maximum tile loading and simple cycle strategies has been developed to improve the performance of the product flow-based tiling automation to better support assembly of custom mosaic design that requires individual tesserae to be assembled to particular positions to illustrate an image properly. This paper exploits the advantage of non-integer order modeling of a process over integer order, in those cases where the process model is required for control purpose. The present case deals with speed control of a DC motor. Based on the real time open loop response, DC motor is being modeled as integer and non-integer order first order plus delay system. Both these models are then separately used for determining two sets of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller parameters through Ziegler Nichols (ZN) closed loop tuning method. In addition to this, a model based control technique i.e. Internal Model Control (IMC) is also implemented using both integer and non-integer model respectively. For carrying out the real time speed control of DC motor, LabVIEW platform has been used. After going through the results, it is observed that the controller performance considerably improves, if non-integer order model is used for controller design rather than integer order model. The problem of pumps connected in parallel can be easily solved by means of graphical method, but it becomes very time consuming when dealing with multiple scenarios. An analytical approach offers the possibility of implementing a software program that can significantly reduce this time and also adds further features. The mathematical algorithm used is dealing with a nonlinear equitation system and with polynomial fitting functions. A very special issue that is addressed in this paper is about the errors given by the very small values of flow rates. Since the algorithms assume that every physical measure is expressed in SI units, then the unitless values of flow rates are at least 10-3 magnitude order compared to other values (pump head for example). This in turn leads to very poor fitting polynomials and the end results are far from the truth. The key for solving this particular issue resides in constructing the inverse functions of H(Q). Once the algorithms were sort out, they were implemented in LabVIEW in order to create a software application. This final product offers both accuracy of the calculations and user friendly interface. In this paper, two LabVIEW based hybrid fuzzy filters combining fuzzy logic with simple filtering techniques for image de-noising are presented. LabVIEW is widely adopted for the design of real time systems and their realization in hardware due to the facilities available for performance simulation and measurements under different conditions. The main feature of the filters is that they try to determine the corrupted pixels using fuzzy rules and then treat them by utilizing the classical filters. To measure the performance of the designed filters, several corrupted images with Gaussian noise are processed. An objective criterion such as the Mean Square Error (MSE), and visual observation prove the effectiveness of the hybrid technique compared with the classical filters and several modern filters. This paper aims to develop a hysteresis model for a single axis piezoelectric nanopositioner stage at different operating points. The adopted methodology compares results based on the developed analytical simulation model using MATLAB with real time results using LabVIEW. The experimental results for real time measurements had been acquired for the piezoelectric nanopositioner stage using data acquisition system from National Instruments (NI). This paper deals with design, making and control of a flexible single-link space manipulator prototype. The flexible manipulator is an aluminum arm mounted on a DC drive motor hub and designed to do a horizontal rotation. Two sensors, an optical encoder and an accelerometer, are used to measure the hub angle and the end-point acceleration. To control the flexible manipulator, a fuzzy controller is designed and implemented in the control loop by a LabVIEW environment program to generate command signals for the DC motor card via a Profi-Cassy pilot in order to damp end-point vibration and to reach desired position. The Aim of this paper is to present both automatic and manual temperature control system for modern data acquisition processes. In developing the work, consideration of steps' sequence was done; stating at the beginning point which is reading of temperature input using LM35 temperature sensor. Then convert that input analog into digital using Arduino microcontroller. After conversion, we do the appropriate task, for example, if the temperature reading is greater than factory temperature, the cooling unit will ON automatically and give us a mean to regulate the cooling unit speed. The software (LabView) that was used in this design has capability of manual regulation controls and responding in real time to takes the next step further to run, store and show the result schemes based on graphical temperature chart using the PC. In this paper, the methodology of the measurement of the angular speed of the crankshaft of a ten-cylinder diesel OM403 engine is presented, with regular and irregular engine operation. The angular velocity was measured under laboratory conditions, on already installed measuring equipment from the laboratory and on the break of a well known brand-Schenck, by using an optoelectronic incremental rotary encoder, a data acquisition module and the LabVIEW software for synchronization and management of the measuring equipment. The popular game called Sudoku helps the puzzle solver to manage complicated logical tasks but on the other hand it is often useful in artificial intelligence applications like steganography, DNA computing or encrypting SMS. The paper presents an automated Sudoku solver system that combines simple solving algorithms with the principles of robot vision domain. The proposed automatic system completely solves the Sudoku problems and the solutions are written rapidly on the paper sheet. The application is based on a Sudoku image capture video system, a system that mimics the human solving strategies. The digits are localized, recognized using the Optical character recognition (OCR) technique and then the problem is digitally transposed and solved through the LabVIEW programming environment. A data acquisition board controls the pen on the plotter to fill the blanks with figures resulted from the solution. The shapes of the digits can be designed by the user in an interactive manner by a friendly interface. This paper deals with development of a data acquisition program to measure the exhaust time of a mechanical actuated pneumatic valve. The volume, which will be exhausted is determined by a so-called end of line testing procedure. The data acquisition unit is an Advantech ADAM 4117 8 channel analogue input module.
