Abstract

The article presents a study which compares patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) treated with indwelling pleural catheters (IPCs) and talc pleurodesis. Findings reveal that patients treated with IPCs had fewer total hospital bed days and reported quick improvements in quality of life and dyspnea. It indicates that there was no difference in pleural infection and protein rates in both treatments.
