The present research was carried out to document the moth fauna of Annamalai Nagar during December, 2015 to November, 2016 comprising four seasons for a period of one year, from agriculture and horticulture ecosystems using light traps and host rearing methods. The sheet method was used to record moth insects individually without any damage. Any moths that alight on the screen were recorded in jars just after sunset between 18.00 - 23.00 hr. A total of 2,679 moths were recorded using all the three types of methods employed in the study. Out of which, light trap was found with maximum of 2,253 moths followed by manual collection (369) and host rearing (57) from four different sites of observation. Among the sites, light trapping of moths were observed maximum (656) in Orchard followed by Experimental farm with 629 numbers. The diversity of moths was observed in the study area of Annamalai Nagar indicated the presence of 70 genera and 56 species identified under nine superfamilies of Clades viz., Obtectomera (Pyraloidea and Thyridoidea) Macroheterocera (Noctuoidea, Bombycoidea, Geometroidea, Lasiocampoidea) Apoditrysia (Pterophoroidea and Cossoidea) Ditrysia (Tineoidea). The families namely Crambidae, Erebidae, Noctuidae, Sphingidae, Bombycidae, Uraniidae, Thyrididae, Eupterotidae, Geometridae, Pterophoridae, Lasiocampidae, Cossidae and Psychidae were observed in the study area. Out of which, the family Erebidae alone had 28 genera and 25 species and found to be the superior family. From the results, it was clear that light trapping was superior in collection of moths during night times. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Oidaematophorus pseudotrachyphloeusGielis, 2011 (Lepidoptera, Pterophoridae) is a little-known Neotropical plume moth previously recorded in Ecuador, Peru and Argentina. Its host plants and DNA barcodes are unknown.Oidaematophorus pseudotrachyphloeusis recorded for the first time from Chile, based on six specimens from the Azapa Valley (Arica Province) and two from Guayacán (Coquimbo Province). Those from the Azapa Valley were reared from folivorous larvae collected onAmbrosia cumanensisKunth (Asteraceae), representing the first host plant record for this plume moth. The first DNA barcode sequences ofO. pseudotrachyphloeusare provided and used to explore relationships with congenerics.

Nr. 1991), PARAGUAY, Dep. Alto Parana, Limoy, 24°45’ S, 54°27’ W, 11–15. i. 2017, U. Drechsel leg.; Paratypes, 3♂, 11♀, (ZISP, CUK) same data as holotype. DESCRIPTION. External characters. Head, thorax and tegulae with dark-brown scales. Labial palpi thin, straight, 1.5 times longer than eye diameter in length. Antennae thin, cross-striped, with alternating brown and white segments. Wingspan 13-15 mm (holotype 13 mm). Fore wings dark-brown with portions of yellowish-brown spots. Narrow transverse yellowish-brown band on first lobe distally. Brown spot of scales in front of cleft, similar spot in medium portion of wing. Anal angle of second lobe with distinct bundle of dark-brown hairs, second lobe apically acute. Fringe inside cleft mottled, with alternating light-grey and dark-brown hairs. Hind wings unicolorous, dark-brown. Fringe of third lobe along outer margin with dark-brown spots of hairs, third lobe apically with distinct triangular bundle of brown hairs. Male genitalia. Valves symmetric, noticeably narrowing distally. Beyond valve middle in front of its narrowing, thin smoothly curved hook-like spike. Tegumen simple, with notch on apex. Uncus triangular. Aedeagus arched, twice shorter than valve in length. Female genitalia. Papillae anales narrow, elongated, apically acute. Posterior apophyses straight. Anterior apophyses three times shorter than posterior apophyses. Lamina postvaginalis with two long longitudinal processes in center of sternum 8. Antrum short, tubulate. Lamina antevaginalis bag-like. Ductus bursae short, thin, membranous. Bursa copulatrix small, oval, poorly sclerotized, without signa. Diagnosis. In the external characters of the adult and in the male genital structure, the new species is similar to Michaelophorus dentiger (Meyrick, 1916), from which it differs in the distally narrowing valves and in the notch on the apex of the tegumen. In the female genitalia, in the narrow antrum and the longitudinal process on the lamina postvaginalis, it is similar to Michaelophorus indentatus (Meyrick, 1930), but clearly differs in the absence of signa in the bursa copulatrix, the shorter ductus and the bag-like lamina antevaginalis. Flight period: January. Distribution: Paraguay. Etymology: The species is named after Maria Boreyko (Shipitsyna) (Novosibirsk, Russia), a classmate of the first author., Published as part of Ustjuzhanin, Petr Ya. & Kovtunovich, Vasily N., 2022, To the Pterophoridae fauna of Paraguay (Lepidoptera). External characters. Head, thorax and tegulae with grey-brown scales. Collar on head brown. Labial palpi thin, straight, slightly longer than eye diameter in length. Antennae thin, lightbrown, scape slightly thickened. Wingspan 20-23 mm (holotype 23 mm). Fore wings grey-brown sputtered with dark-brown scales. Elongated dark-brown spot along costal margin above cleft. Small dark-brown spot on outer margin of first lobe. Both lobes noticeably darkened apically and framed with dark-brown scales. Big blurred brownish spot in front of cleft. Fringe inside cleft dark-grey. Hind wings unicolorous, noticeably lighter colored than fore wings, with light-grey fringe on lobes. Male genitalia. Valves asymmetric. Saccular process on left valve long, apically arched, tip hook-like, curved, acute. Saccular process on right valve shaped as wide fold located in medium part of valve. Uncus simple, thin, slightly curved. Anellus arms asymmetric, left arm basally wide then narrowing, right arm wide in all length, slightly shorter than left arm. Aedeagus thin, slightly curved basally, slightly shorter than valve in length. Female genitalia. Papillae anales wide, triangle, apically acute. Posterior apophyses straight. Anterior apophyses absent. Antrum short, tubulate. Ductus bursae long, thin, membranous. Bursa copulatrix small, round, poorly sclerotized, without signa. Diagnosis. In the male genitalia, in the curved saccular process on the left valve, the species resembles Emmelina buscki (Barnes & Lindsey, 1921 ) , but in E. buscki this process is curved towards the lover margin of the valve, while in the new species it is curved towards the upper margin. Additionally, the new species differs well from E. buscki in the special shape of the anellus arms and the aedeagus. In the female genitalia, the new species differs from E. buscki in the round bursa copulatrix. Flight period: May, June, November. Distribution: Paraguay. Etymology: The species is named after Vera Aleynikova (Medvedeva) (Novosibirsk, Russia)., Published as part of Ustjuzhanin, Petr Ya. & Kovtunovich, Vasily N., 2022, To the Pterophoridae fauna of Paraguay (Lepidoptera). Approximately 100 specimens, representing 27 species of Pterophoridae (Plume Moths), were collected from the fauna of Bhutan. The taxonomic status of the species, observed and collected material, and host plants are listed, and a distribution map of each species is presented. The following species are recorded for the first time from Bhutan: Platyptilia farfarellus Zeller, 1867 ; Platyptilia sedata Meyrick, 1932 ; Stenoptilia zophodactylus (Duponchel, 1840); Lantanophaga pusillidactylus (Walker, 1864); Xyroptila oenophanes Meyrick, 1908 ; Sphenarches anisodactylus (Walker, 1864), S. zanclistes (Meyrick, 1905); Oxyptilus causodes Meyrick, 1905 ; Adaina microdactyla (Hübner, [1813]); and Cosmoclostis pesseuta Meyrick, 1906. One species is described as new: Pterophorus karmawangdii Gielis spec. nov. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hind wings unicolorous, of the same color as fore wings. Hind legs yellowish-grey. Male genitalia. Valves asymmetric. Saccular process on left valve sclerotized, arched at right angle, distally narrowing, apically acute. Saccular process on right valve shaped as wide fold, located in medium part. Apices of both valves bluntly rounded. Uncus simple, thin, slightly curved. Anellus arms asymmetric, left shorter and more narrow than right. Vinculum arched. Aedeagus thin, slightly curved, twice shorter than valve. Female genitalia. Papillae anales wide. Posterior apophyses almost straight, three times longer than anterior apophyses. Anterior apophyses short, thick, slightly narrowing apically. Antrum short, tubulate. Ductus bursae long, thin, membranous. Ductus seminalis slightly wider and shorter than ductus bursae. Bursa copulatrix long, narrow-oval, poorly sclerotized, without signa. Diagnosis. Externally, the new species remotely resembles Emmelina monodactyla (Linnaeus, 1758). In the male genitalia, in the curved saccular process on the left valve, the new species resembles Emmelina aethes (Walsingham, 1915), but in E. aethes this process is hook-like, while in the new species it is arched. The left valve in the new species is apically rounded, while in E. a ethes it has a robust crest-like process on apex. There is also difference in the anellus arms and aedeagus. Flight period. September. Distribution. Argentina. Etymology. The new species is named after Risto Haverinen's daughter Inna Antikainen, who has been a source of innovation and a driving force during expeditions., Published as part of Ustjuzhanin, Petr, Kovtunovich, Vasyly, Pototski, Aleksander & Haverinen, Risto, 2022, New species of plume moths (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae) from Argentina, pp. 29-41 in Ecologica Montenegrina 58 on pages 33-35, DOI: 10.37828/em.2022.58.3, http://zenodo.org/record/8029644

Nupponen, R. Haverinen & A. Pototski leg. Description: External characters. Head, thorax and tegulae yellowish-brown. Labial palpi light-brown, thin, straight. Antennae yellowish-brown, scape noticeably thickened. Wingspan 14 mm. Fore wings pale yellow. Hardly visible sputtering of brown scales at cleft base. Fringe inside cleft brown. Hind wings unicolorous, light-brown. Hind legs pale-yellow. Male genitalia. Valves asymmetric, left valve slightly wider than right valve. Saccular process on left valve narrow, almost straight, apically sharp, hardly not reaching apex of valve. Right valve with two longitudinal folds, one long, in upper part of valve, the second short, in basal part. Anellus arms asymmetric, right arm slightly longer and more narrow than left, left arm apically extended. Saccus arched. Uncus narrow, thin, slightly curved. Aedeagus almost straight, slightly shorter than right valve in length, distally with sputtering of tiny spiky cornuti. Diagnosis. In the male genitalia, in the shape of the saccular process on the left valve, the new species is similar to Hellinsia joinville Gielis, 2016, but clearly differs in the cornuti in the aedeagus distally, in the totally different color of the wings and in the significantly smaller size. Flight period. September. Distribution. Argentina. Etymology. The new species is named after Katja Soininen, a life partner of Risto Haverinen. Katja's help, assist and support for expeditions has been irreplaceable., Published as part of Ustjuzhanin, Petr, Kovtunovich, Vasyly, Pototski, Aleksander & Haverinen, Risto, 2022, New species of plume moths (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae) from Argentina, pp. 29-41 in Ecologica Montenegrina 58 on page 32, DOI: 10.37828/em.2022.58.3, http://zenodo.org/record/8029644
