The Ligurian writer Francesco Biamonti (1928-2001) is best known for his five novels published by Einaudi between 1983 and 2003. This essay investigates the period preceding the writer’s publishing debut, i.e. the long literary ‘apprenticeship’ that saw Biamonti, between the late 1950s and the end of the 1970s, working on various projects, all of which were destined to remain unfinished, but nonetheless interesting for understanding the genesis of themes and images characteristic of the novels of his maturity. More specifically, this study deals with the so-called ‘romanzo algerino’, an outline inspired by the events of the Algerian War, of which Biamonti composed several partial drafts. The different compositional phases of this draft, its links with other unfinished Biamonti works (Il testimone inumano and the Romanzo di Gregorio) and its possible literary ancestry are reconstructed here in the light of the manuscripts and typescripts conserved at the writer’s home-archive in San Biagio della Cima, in the Imperia province.

L’atteggiamento di Freud nei confronti della fantasia è ambivalente. Per un verso egli segue il metodo positivista, per cui i prodotti fantastici sono “non provati” e quindi falsi. D’altro canto però egli si dimostra un buon letterato nel descrivere i suoi casi clinici (Il caso di Dora, L’uomo dei lupi…) al punto di ricevere nel 1930 il premio Goethe. Il suo insistere in molti casi sulla ricerca delle cause fu criticato fin dagli anni Venti, ad esempio da Vygotskij. La psicoanalisi di Freud tuttavia non si esaurisce in questo ambito, come si può ricavare da alcuni passi delle sue opere, in cui risulta che la fantasia e la scena onirica costituiscono una sorta di decostruzione capace di reinventare la realtà.

Pochodząca z roku 1891 nowela Prusa pt. Z żywotów świętych zawiera wspólny dla hagiografii i folkloru motyw „dziwnych sądów Bożych”. Motyw jest obecny w utworze Lwa Tołstoja Czym żyją ludzie (1881), tłumaczonym przez Stanisława Witkiewicza w roku 1892, a także w Sabałowej bajce Henryka Sienkiewicza z roku 1889. Legenda Prusa nie jest nieznacznie zmienionym zapisem opowiadana ludowego, ale wykorzystaniem znanego z opowieści ludowych motywu jako podstawy oryginalnego utworu. Autor uwydatnił tu – podobnie jak wcześniej Tołstoj, a później Witkiewicz – ideę miłości bliźniego oraz wzbogacił przesłanie o pozytywistyczną ideę użyteczności społecznej.

Si presenta di seguito la traduzione del saggio di Ol’ga Vladimirovna Slivickaja «Vdrug» u Tolstogo: neožidannoe v mire zakonomernogo, pubblicato sul 3° numero della rivista Russkaja literatura nel 2012. Il saggio è dedicato a quei comportamenti improvvisi e imprevedibili dei personaggi che sembrano estranei all’universo logico e controllato che Tolstoj costruisce nei suoi romanzi. L’autrice dimostra che anche in questo mondo c’è spazio per le azioni inattese e impreviste, motivate a diversi livelli di profondità del carattere innato e acquisito del personaggio.

The 7th international Yasnaya Polyana conference, dedicated to the centenary of the escape and the death of Tolstoy, has been characterized by the several number of approaches chosen by the experts taking part in the experience. During the 3 days of the conference they have analyzed the impact of Tolstoy’s works and theories not only on a strictly literary scale, but also on other fields of knowledge, such as anthropology or philosophy, like in Slivickaya’s contribution on the «dynamic identity» of Tolstoy’s man or in Klimova’swork on the philosophical contents of the Strakhov-Tolstoy correspondence. The biographic aspect has been as well touched (in the controversial report by Zwiers on the tormented relationship between Tolstoy and his wife or Katz’s contribution on Tolstoy and Chertkov), along with the impact of Tolstoy’s texts on contemporary life, like in Olea’s work on the influence of the Russian writer on the American soldiers.
