Background: Oncotype-Dx (ODx) is a 21-gene assay used as a prognostic and predictive tool for hormone receptor (HR)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative, node-negative, or 1 to 3 lymph node-positive early breast cancers (EBCs). The cost of the test, which is not available in low-middle income countries (LMICs), is not within the means of most individuals. The Ki-67 index is a marker of tumor proliferation that is cost-effective and easily performed and has been substituted in many cases to obtain prognostic information. Objective: We aimed to identify the correlation between the ODx recurrence score (RS) and the Ki-67 index in HR-positive EBCs and to determine whether Ki-67, like the ODx, can help facilitate clinical decision-making. Design: Systematic review correlating Ki-67 index and ODx in HR-positive and HER2-negative EBCs as per Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Data sources and methods: We searched different databases between January 2010 and May 2023 and included retrospective/prospective cohorts, clinical trials, case-control, and cross-sectional studies involving HR-positive and HER2-negative EBCs correlating the Ki-67 index and ODx RS categories. Results: Of the 18 studies included, 16 indicated a positive or weakly positive correlation between ODx and the Ki-67 index. The combined P value of the included studies is <0.05 (P =.000), which shows a statistical significance between the 2. Our review also discusses the potential of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) in Ki-67 assessment, offering a cost-effective and reproducible alternative. Conclusion: Even although there are limitations, studies indicate a favorable association between ODx and the Ki-67 index in specific situations. This implies that Ki-67 can offer important predictive details, especially regarding the likelihood of relapse in HR-positive EBC. In this research, a comparative study of four Quantum Machine Learning (QML) models was conducted for fraud detection in finance. We proved that the Quantum Support Vector Classifier model achieved the highest performance, with F1 scores of 0. 9 8 for fraud and nonfraud classes. Other models like the Variational Quantum Classifier (VQC), Estimator Quantum Neural Network (QNN), and Sampler QNN demonstrate promising results, propelling the potential of QML classification for financial applications. While they exhibit certain limitations, the insights attained pave the way for future enhancements and optimization strategies. However, challenges exist, including the need for more efficient quantum algorithms and larger and more complex datasets. This study presents an integrated framework of machine learning models (Artificial Neural Network, Ensembled Learning Tree, Support Vector Machine, and Gaussian Process Regression) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to predict and optimize hydrogen production from SCWG using sewage sludge characteristics and process parameters. According to the results, ELT-PSO is preferred for forecasting hydrogen yield (Coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.997, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) = 0.093), and it is highly suggested for handling complex variable-target correlation. However, Support Vector Machine (SVM) performed poorly, with R2 = 0.83 and RMSE = 2.28. The perhydro-dibenzyltoluene (H18-DBT) exhibits promising potential as a viable option for hydrogen production purposes. There are several important features for hydrogen generation predictions including dosage of H18-DBT, temperature, concentration of catalyst, and stirring speed. This study presents the Hydrogen Production Prediction System Empowered with Machine Learning (HPPSML), which employs the Scaled Conjugate Approach (SCG) to predict the quantity of hydrogen generated from H18-DBT. The dataset is classified into three categories based on the percentage of produced hydrogen: low class, medium class, and high class. The results elucidate that the accuracy of the proposed HPPSML is higher (96.65 %) for the high class whereas it is 93.20 % and 89.80 % for the low and medium class respectively. Assessing pain in non-verbal patients is challenging, often depending on clinical judgment which can be unreliable due to fluctuations in vital signs caused by underlying medical conditions. To date, there is a notable absence of objective diagnostic tests to aid healthcare practitioners in pain assessment, especially affecting critically-ill or advanced dementia patients. Neurophysiological information, i.e., functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) or electroencephalogram (EEG), unveils the brain's active regions and patterns, revealing the neural mechanisms behind the experience and processing of pain. This study focuses on assessing pain via the analysis of fNIRS signals combined with machine learning, utilising multiple fNIRS measures including oxygenated haemoglobin ( Δ H B O 2 ) and deoxygenated haemoglobin ( Δ H H B ). Initially, a channel selection process filters out highly contaminated channels with high-frequency and high-amplitude artifacts from the 24-channel fNIRS data. The remaining channels are then preprocessed by applying a low-pass filter and common average referencing to remove cardio-respiratory artifacts and common gain noise, respectively. Subsequently, the preprocessed channels are averaged to create a single time series vector for both Δ H B O 2 and Δ H H B measures. From each measure, ten statistical features are extracted and fusion occurs at the feature level, resulting in a fused feature vector. The most relevant features, selected using the Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance method, are passed to a Support Vector Machines classifier. Using leave-one-subject-out cross validation, the system achieved an accuracy of 68.51 % ± 9.02 % in a multi-class task (No Pain, Low Pain, and High Pain) using a fusion of Δ H B O 2 and Δ H H B . These two measures collectively demonstrated superior performance compared to when they were used independently. With the rapid development of information technology, the conception of smart healthcare has progressively come to the fore. Smart healthcare utilizes next-generation technologies, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data and cloud computing to transform intelligently the existing medical system-making it more efficient, more reliable, and personalized. In this work, skin data are collected using dedicated hardware from mobile health units-working as nodes. The collected samples are uploaded to the cloud for further processing using a novel multi-modal information fusion framework, which performs skin lesion segmentation, followed by classification. The proposed framework has two main functional blocks: Segmentation and classification. In each block, we have a performance booster, which works on the principle of information fusion. For lesion segmentation, a hybrid framework is proposed, which utilizes the complementary strengths of two convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures to generate the segmented images. The resultant binary images are later fused using joint probability distribution and marginal distribution function. For lesion classification, a 30-layered CNN architecture is designed, which is trained on the HAM10000 dataset. A novel summation discriminant correlation analysis technique is used to fuse the extracted features from two fully connected layers. To avoid feature redundancy, a feature selection method "Regular Falsi" is developed, which down samples the extracted features into the lower dimensions. The selected features are finally classified using an extreme learning machine classifier. Five skin benchmark datasets (ISBI2016, ISIC2017, ISBI2018, ISIC2019, and HAM10000) are used to evaluate both segmentation and classification frameworks using average accuracy, false-negative rate, sensitivity, and computational time, whose results are impressive compared to state-of-the-art methods. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) believes to be a major cause of transience and indisposition worldwide. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are critical in preventing the progression of CVD and improving patient outcomes. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have emerged as powerful tools in CVD recognition, with the potential to assist physicians in making accurate and efficient diagnoses. This research paper explores the combination of multiple ML algorithms for CVD recognition, utilizing diverse datasets such as the Cleveland, Hungarian, Switzerland, statlog, and VA Long Beach datasets. Additionally, a CVD dataset comprising 12 attributes and 70,000 records is employed, demonstrating improved results through the proposed and trained model compared to previous prediction techniques for CVD. The performance of various ML techniques, including support vector machines (SVM), naive Bayes (NB), K‐nearest neighbour (KNN), random forest (RF), and logistic regression (LR), is evaluated and compared. The impact of feature selection and feature scaling on the models' performance is also examined. An ensemble bagging technique is applied which is being embedded with other classifiers. LR classifier embedded with bagging techniques proved to be our proposed model. The findings reveal that the proposed Hybrid Linear Regression Bagging Model (HLRBM) outperforms other models. Furthermore, the study highlights the significance of data preprocessing techniques, such as data normalization and class balancing, which significantly enhance the performance of all models. The convolutional neural network showed considerable success in medical imaging with explainable AI for cancer detection and recognition. However, the irrelevant and large number of features increases the computational time and decreases the accuracy. This work proposes a deep learning and fuzzy entropy slime mould algorithm-based architecture for multiclass skin lesion classification. In the first step, we employed the data augmentation technique to increase the training data and further utilized it for training two fine-tuned deep learning models such as Inception-ResNetV2 and NasNet Mobile. Then, we used transfer learning on augmented datasets to train both models and obtained two feature vectors from newly fine-tuned models. Later, we applied a fuzzy entropy slime mould algorithm on both vectors to get optimal features that are finally fused using the Serial-Threshold fusion technique and classified using several machine learning classifiers. Eventually, the explainable AI technique named Gradcam opted for the visualization of the lesion region. Cancer is one of the leading significant causes of illness and chronic disease worldwide. Skin cancer, particularly melanoma, is becoming a severe health problem due to its rising prevalence. The considerable death rate linked with melanoma requires early detection to receive immediate and successful treatment. Lesion detection and classification are more challenging due to many forms of artifacts such as hairs, noise, and irregularity of lesion shape, color, irrelevant features, and textures. In this work, we proposed a deep-learning architecture for classifying multiclass skin cancer and melanoma detection. The proposed architecture consists of four core steps: image preprocessing, feature extraction and fusion, feature selection, and classification. A novel contrast enhancement technique is proposed based on the image luminance information. After that, two pre-trained deep models, DarkNet-53 and DensNet-201, are modified in terms of a residual block at the end and trained through transfer learning. In the learning process, the Genetic algorithm is applied to select hyperparameters. The resultant features are fused using a two-step approach named serial-harmonic mean. This step increases the accuracy of the correct classification, but some irrelevant information is also observed. Therefore, an algorithm is developed to select the best features called marine predator optimization (MPA) controlled Reyni Entropy. The selected features are finally classified using machine learning classifiers for the final classification. Two datasets, ISIC2018 and ISIC2019, have been selected for the experimental process. On these datasets, the obtained maximum accuracy of 85.4% and 98.80%, respectively. Healthy sleep is vital to all functions in the body. It improves physical and mental health, strengthens resistance against diseases, and develops strong immunity against metabolism and chronic diseases. However, a sleep disorder can cause the inability to sleep well. Sleep apnea syndrome is a critical breathing disorder that occurs during sleeping when breathing stops suddenly and starts when awake, causing sleep disturbance. If it is not treated timely, it can produce loud snoring and drowsiness or causes more acute health problems such as high blood pressure or heart attack. The accepted standard for diagnosing sleep apnea syndrome is full-night polysomnography. However, its limitations include a high cost and inconvenience. This article aims to develop an intelligent monitoring framework for detecting breathing events based on Software Defined Radio Frequency (SDRF) sensing and verify its feasibility for diagnosing sleep apnea syndrome. We extract the wireless channel state information (WCSI) for breathing motion using channel frequency response (CFR) recorded in time at every instant at the receiver. The proposed approach simplifies the receiver structure with the added functionality of communication and sensing together. Initially, simulations are conducted to test the feasibility of the SDRF sensing design for the simulated wireless channel. Then, a real-time experimental setup is developed in a lab environment to address the challenges of the wireless channel. We conducted 100 experiments to collect the dataset of 25 subjects for four breathing patterns. SDRF sensing system accurately detected breathing events during sleep without subject contact. The developed intelligent framework uses machine learning classifiers to classify sleep apnea syndrome and other breathing patterns with an acceptable accuracy of 95.9%. The developed framework aims to build a non-invasive sensing system to diagnose patients conveniently suffering from sleep apnea syndrome. Background: Using artificial intelligence (AI) with the concept of a deep learning-based automated computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system has shown improved performance for skin lesion classification. Although deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) have significantly improved many image classification tasks, it is still difficult to accurately classify skin lesions because of a lack of training data, inter-class similarity, intra-class variation, and the inability to concentrate on semantically significant lesion parts. Innovations: To address these issues, we proposed an automated deep learning and best feature selection framework for multiclass skin lesion classification in dermoscopy images. The proposed framework performs a preprocessing step at the initial step for contrast enhancement using a new technique that is based on dark channel haze and top–bottom filtering. Three pre-trained deep learning models are fine-tuned in the next step and trained using the transfer learning concept. In the fine-tuning process, we added and removed a few additional layers to lessen the parameters and later selected the hyperparameters using a genetic algorithm (GA) instead of manual assignment. The purpose of hyperparameter selection using GA is to improve the learning performance. After that, the deeper layer is selected for each network and deep features are extracted. The extracted deep features are fused using a novel serial correlation-based approach. This technique reduces the feature vector length to the serial-based approach, but there is little redundant information. We proposed an improved anti-Lion optimization algorithm for the best feature selection to address this issue. The selected features are finally classified using machine learning algorithms. Main Results: The experimental process was conducted using two publicly available datasets, ISIC2018 and ISIC2019. Employing these datasets, we obtained an accuracy of 96.1 and 99.9%, respectively. Comparison was also conducted with state-of-the-art techniques and shows the proposed framework improved accuracy. Conclusions: The proposed framework successfully enhances the contrast of the cancer region. Moreover, the selection of hyperparameters using the automated techniques improved the learning process of the proposed framework. Healthcare professionals consider predicting heart disease an essential task and deep learning has proven to be a promising approach for achieving this goal. This research paper introduces a novel method called the asynchronous federated deep learning approach for cardiac prediction (AFLCP), which combines a heart disease dataset and deep neural networks (DNNs) with an asynchronous learning technique. The proposed approach employs a method for asynchronously updating the parameters of DNNs and incorporates a temporally weighted aggregation technique to enhance the accuracy and convergence of the central model. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed AFLCP method, two datasets with various DNN architectures are tested, and the results demonstrate that the AFLCP approach outperforms the baseline method in terms of both communication cost and model accuracy. The early diagnosis of skin cancer through clinical methods reduces the human mortality rate. The manual screening of dermoscopic images is not an efficient procedure; therefore, researchers working in the domain of computer vision employed several algorithms to classify the skin lesion. The existing computerized methods have a few drawbacks, such as low accuracy and high computational time. Therefore, in this work, we proposed a novel deep learning and Entropy‐Normal Distribution Optimization Algorithm with extreme learning machine (NDOEM)‐based architecture for multiclass skin lesion classification. The proposed architecture consists of five fundamental steps. In the first step, two contrast enhancement techniques including hybridization of mathematical formulation and convolutional neural network are implemented prior to data augmentation. In the second step, two pre‐trained deep learning models, EfficientNetB0 and DarkNet19, are fine‐tuned and retrained through the transfer learning. In the third step, features are extracted from the fine‐tuned models and later the most discriminant features are selected based on novel Entropy‐NDOELM algorithm. The selected features are finally fused using a parallel correlation technique in the fourth step to generate the result feature vectors. Finally, the resultant features are again down‐sampled using the proposed algorithm and the resultant features are passed to the extreme learning machine (ELM) for the final classification. Saturation pressure is one the most important parameters required for describing a hydrocarbon reservoir. The determination of saturation pressure using conventional laboratory method is expensive and time consuming; hence, it is necessary to develop agile, easy and accurate saturation pressure prediction methods. The application of machine learning techniques for determination of saturation pressure for any fluid type has been shown in this study; no such work has been reported in this area so far. Four machine learning techniques namely K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support vector machine (SVM), Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LGBM) and artificial neural network (ANN) were utilized. A universal novel correlation has also been developed using ANN. Models were developed utilizing experimentally determined composition of 305 reservoir oil and gas condensate, properties of heptane plus and reservoir temperature. Results concluded that models and proposed correlation predicted saturation pressure with high accuracy. Results indicated that the LGBM model has performed better with coefficient of determination (R2) and mean absolute error (MAE) values of 0.9655 and 194.3887, respectively, for complete data set. Critically ill patients often lack cognitive or communicative functions, making it challenging to assess their pain levels using self-reporting mechanisms. There is an urgent need for an accurate system that can assess pain levels without relying on patient-reported information. Blood volume pulse (BVP) is a relatively unexplored physiological measure with the potential to assess pain levels. This study aims to develop an accurate pain intensity classification system based on BVP signals through comprehensive experimental analysis. Twenty-two healthy subjects participated in the study, in which we analyzed the classification performance of BVP signals for various pain intensities using time, frequency, and morphological features through fourteen different machine learning classifiers. Three experiments were conducted using leave-one-subject-out cross-validation to better examine the hidden signatures of BVP signals for pain level classification. The results of the experiments showed that BVP signals combined with machine learning can provide an objective and quantitative evaluation of pain levels in clinical settings. Specifically, no pain and high pain BVP signals were classified with 96.6% accuracy, 100% sensitivity, and 91.6% specificity using a combination of time, frequency, and morphological features with artificial neural networks (ANNs). The classification of no pain and low pain BVP signals yielded 83.3% accuracy using a combination of time and morphological features with the AdaBoost classifier. Finally, the multi-class experiment, which classified no pain, low pain, and high pain, achieved 69% overall accuracy using a combination of time and morphological features with ANN. In conclusion, the experimental results suggest that BVP signals combined with machine learning can offer an objective and reliable assessment of pain levels in clinical settings. The world has changed dramatically since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. This has not only affected the humanity, but has also badly damaged the world's socio-economic system. Currently, people are looking for a magical solution to overcome this pandemic. Similarly, scientists across the globe are working to find remedies to overcome this challenge. The role of technologies is not far behind in this situation, which attracts many sectors from government agencies to medical practitioners, and market analysts. This is quite true that in a few months of time, scientists, researchers, and industrialists have come up with some acceptable innovative solutions and harnessing existing technologies to stop the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, it is pertinent to highlight the role of intelligent technologies, which play a pivotal role in curbing this pandemic. In this paper, we devise a taxonomy related to the technologies being used in the current pandemic. We show that the most prominent technologies are artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, big data analytics, and blockchain. Moreover, we highlight some key open challenges, which technologists might face to control this outbreak. Finally, we conclude that to impede this pandemic, a collective effort is required from different professionals in support of using existing and new technologies. In the last decade, there has been a significant increase in medical cases involving brain tumors. Brain tumor is the tenth most common type of tumor, affecting millions of people. However, if it is detected early, the cure rate can increase. Computer vision researchers are working to develop sophisticated techniques for detecting and classifying brain tumors. MRI scans are primarily used for tumor analysis. We proposed an automated system for brain tumor detection and classification using a saliency map and deep learning feature optimization in this paper. The proposed framework was implemented in stages. In the initial phase of the proposed framework, a fusion‐based contrast enhancement technique is proposed. In the following phase, a tumor segmentation technique based on saliency maps is proposed, which is then mapped on original images based on active contour. Following that, a pre‐trained CNN model named EfficientNetB0 is fine‐tuned and trained in two ways: on enhanced images and on tumor localization images. Deep transfer learning is used to train both models, and features are extracted from the average pooling layer. The deep learning features are then fused using an improved fusion approach known as Entropy Serial Fusion. The best features are chosen in the final step using an improved dragonfly optimization algorithm. Finally, the best features are classified using an extreme learning machine (ELM). The experimental process is conducted on three publically available datasets and achieved an improved accuracy of 95.14, 94.89, and 95.94%, respectively. The science of hydrological modeling has continuously evolved under the influence of rapid advancements in software and hardware technologies. Starting from simple rational formulae for estimating peak discharge and developing into sophisticated univariate predictive models, accurate conversion of rainfall into runoff and the assessment of inherent uncertainty has been a prime focus for researchers. Therefore, alternative data-driven methods have gained widespread attention in hydrology. Moreover, scientists often couple conventional machine learning models with data pre-processing techniques, i.e., wavelet transformation (WT), to enhance modelling accuracy. In this context, this research work attempts to explore the latent linkage between rainfall and runoff in Pothohar region of Pakistan by developing a novel linkage of five streamline techniques of machine learning, including single decision tree (SDT), decision tree forest (DTF), tree boost (TB), multilayer perceptron (MLP), and gene expression modeling (GEP), with a more sophisticated variant of WT, i.e., maximal overlap discrete wavelet transformation (MODWT), for boundary correction of the transformed components of timeseries data. This study also implements these machine learning models in a stand-alone mode for a more comprehensive comparative analysis of performances. Furthermore, the study uses a combined-basin approach that divides Pothohar region into two basins to compensate for the complex topographic division of the study area. The results indicate that MODWT-based DTF outperformed other stand-alone and hybrid models in terms of modeling accuracy. In the first scenario, considering the Bunha-Kahan River basin, MODWT-DTF yielded the highest NSE (0.86) and the lowest RMSE (220.45 mm) and R2 (0.92 at lag order 3 (Lo3)) when transformed with daubechies4 (db4) at level three. While in the Soan-Haro River basin, MODWT-DTF produced the highest accuracy modeling at lag order 4 (Lo4) (NSE = 0.88, RMSE = 21.72 m3/s, and R2 = 0.91). The highly accurate performance of 3- and 4-days lagged models reflects the temporal consistency in hydrological response of the study area. The performance of human gait recognition (HGR) is affected by the partial obstruction of the human body caused by the limited field of view in video surveillance. The traditional method required the bounding box to recognize human gait in the video sequences accurately; however, it is a challenging and time-consuming approach. Due to important applications, such as biometrics and video surveillance, HGR has improved performance over the last half-decade. Based on the literature, the challenging covariant factors that degrade gait recognition performance include walking while wearing a coat or carrying a bag. This paper proposed a new two-stream deep learning framework for human gait recognition. The first step proposed a contrast enhancement technique based on the local and global filters information fusion. The high-boost operation is finally applied to highlight the human region in a video frame. Data augmentation is performed in the second step to increase the dimension of the preprocessed dataset (CASIA-B). In the third step, two pre-trained deep learning models—MobilenetV2 and ShuffleNet—are fine-tuned and trained on the augmented dataset using deep transfer learning. Features are extracted from the global average pooling layer instead of the fully connected layer. In the fourth step, extracted features of both streams are fused using a serial-based approach and further refined in the fifth step by using an improved equilibrium state optimization-controlled Newton–Raphson (ESOcNR) selection method. The selected features are finally classified using machine learning algorithms for the final classification accuracy. The experimental process was conducted on 8 angles of the CASIA-B dataset and obtained an accuracy of 97.3, 98.6, 97.7, 96.5, 92.9, 93.7, 94.7, and 91.2%, respectively. Machine learning has the potential to enhance damage detection and prediction in materials science. Machine learning also has the ability to produce highly reliable and accurate representations, which can improve the detection and prediction of damage compared to the traditional knowledge-based approaches. These approaches can be used for a wide range of applications, including material design; predicting material properties; identifying hidden relationships; and classifying microstructures, defects, and damage. However, researchers must carefully consider the appropriateness of various machine learning algorithms, based on the available data, material being studied, and desired knowledge outcomes. In addition, the interpretability of certain machine learning models can be a limitation in materials science, as it may be difficult to understand the reasoning behind predictions. This paper aims to make novel contributions to the field of material engineering by analyzing the compatibility of dynamic response data from various material structures with prominent machine learning approaches. The purpose of this is to help researchers choose models that are both effective and understandable, while also enhancing their understanding of the model's predictions. To achieve this, this paper analyzed the requirements and characteristics of commonly used machine learning algorithms for crack propagation in materials. This analysis assisted the authors in selecting machine learning algorithms (K nearest neighbor, Ridge, and Lasso regression) to evaluate the dynamic response of aluminum and ABS materials, using experimental data from previous studies to train the models. The results showed that natural frequency was the most significant predictor for ABS material, while temperature, natural frequency, and amplitude were the most important predictors for aluminum. Crack location along samples had no significant impact on either material. Future work could involve applying the discussed techniques to a wider range of materials under dynamic loading conditions. Coxiella burnetii (Cb) is a hardy, stealth bacterial pathogen lethal for humans and animals. Its tremendous resistance to the environment, ease of propagation, and incredibly low infectious dosage make it an attractive organism for biowarfare. Current research on the classification of Coxiella and features influencing its presence in the soil is generally confined to statistical techniques. Machine learning other than traditional approaches can help us better predict epidemiological modeling for this soil-based pathogen of public significance. We developed a two-phase feature-ranking technique for the pathogen on a new soil feature dataset. The feature ranking applies methods such as ReliefF (RLF), OneR (ONR), and correlation (CR) for the first phase and a combination of techniques utilizing weighted scores to determine the final soil attribute ranks in the second phase. Different classification methods such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Logistic Regression (LR), and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) have been utilized for the classification of soil attribute dataset for Coxiella positive and negative soils. The feature-ranking methods established that potassium, chromium, cadmium, nitrogen, organic matter, and soluble salts are the most significant attributes. At the same time, manganese, clay, phosphorous, copper, and lead are the least contributing soil features for the prevalence of the bacteria. However, potassium is the most influential feature, and manganese is the least significant soil feature. The attribute ranking using RLF generates the most promising results among the ranking methods by generating an accuracy of 80.85% for MLP, 79.79% for LR, and 79.8% for LDA. Overall, SVM and MLP are the best-performing classifiers, where SVM yields an accuracy of 82.98% and 81.91% for attribute ranking by CR and RLF; and MLP generates an accuracy of 76.60% for ONR. Thus, machine models can help us better understand the environment, assisting in the prevalence of bacteria and decreasing the chances of false classification. In this paper, we introduced a CNN-based transfer learning-based approach for automatically explaining pulmonary diseases, i.e., edema, tuberculosis, nodules, and pneumonia from chest radiographs. Among these pulmonary diseases, pneumonia, which COVID-19 causes, is deadly; therefore, radiographs of COVID-19 are used for the explanation task. We used the ResNet50 neural network and trained the network on extensive training with the COVID-CT dataset and the COVIDNet dataset. The interpretable model LIME is used for the explanation of classification results. Lime highlights the input image's important features for generating the classification result. We evaluated the explanation using radiologists' highlighted images and identified that our model highlights and explains the same regions. We achieved improved classification results with our fine-tuned model with an accuracy of 93% and 97%, respectively. The analysis of our results indicates that this research not only improves the classification results but also provides an explanation of pulmonary diseases with advanced deep-learning methods. Image processing is an important domain for identifying various crop varieties. Due to the large amount of rice and its varieties, manually detecting its qualities is a very tedious and time-consuming task. In this work, we propose a two-stage deep learning framework for detecting and classifying multiclass rice grain varieties. A series of steps is included in the proposed framework. The first step is to perform preprocessing on the selected dataset. The second step involves selecting and fine-tuning pretrained deep models from Darknet19 and SqueezeNet. Transfer learning is used to train the fine-tuned models on the selected dataset. The 50% sample images are employed for the training and rest 50% are used for the testing. Features are extracted and fused using a maximum correlation-based approach. This approach improved the classification performance; however, redundant information has also been included. An improved butterfly optimization algorithm (BOA) is proposed, in the next step, for the selection of the best features that are finally classified using several machine learning classifiers. The experimental process was conducted on selected rice datasets that include five types of rice varieties and achieves a maximum accuracy of 100% that was improved than the recent method. In the last few years, artificial intelligence has shown a lot of promise in the medical domain for the diagnosis and classification of human infections. Several computerized techniques based on artificial intelligence (AI) have been introduced in the literature for gastrointestinal (GIT) diseases such as ulcer, bleeding, polyp, and a few others. Manual diagnosis of these infections is time consuming, expensive, and always requires an expert. As a result, computerized methods that can assist doctors as a second opinion in clinics are widely required. The key challenges of a computerized technique are accurate infected region segmentation because each infected region has a change of shape and location. Moreover, the inaccurate segmentation affects the accurate feature extraction that later impacts the classification accuracy. In this paper, we proposed an automated framework for GIT disease segmentation and classification based on deep saliency maps and Bayesian optimal deep learning feature selection. The proposed framework is made up of a few key steps, from preprocessing to classification. Original images are improved in the preprocessing step by employing a proposed contrast enhancement technique. In the following step, we proposed a deep saliency map for segmenting infected regions. The segmented regions are then used to train a pre-trained fine-tuned model called MobileNet-V2 using transfer learning. The fine-tuned model's hyperparameters were initialized using Bayesian optimization (BO). The average pooling layer is then used to extract features. However, several redundant features are discovered during the analysis phase and must be removed. As a result, we proposed a hybrid whale optimization algorithm for selecting the best features. Finally, the selected features are classified using an extreme learning machine classifier. The experiment was carried out on three datasets: Kvasir 1, Kvasir 2, and CUI Wah. The hydrogen stored in liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) has an advantage of safe and convenient hydrogen storage system. Dibenzyltoluene (DBT), due to its low flammability, liquid nature and high hydrogen storage capacity, is an efficient LOHC system. It is imperative to indicate the optimal reaction conditions to achieve the theoretical hydrogen storage density. Hence, a Hydrogen Storage Prediction System empowered with Weighted Federated Machine Learning (HSPS-WFML) is proposed in this study. The dataset were divided into three classes, i.e., low, medium and high, and the performance of the proposed HSPS-WFML was investigated. The accuracy of the medium class is higher (99.90%) than other classes. The accuracy of the low and high class is 96.50% and 96.40%, respectively. Moreover, the overall accuracy and miss rate of the proposed HSPS-WFML are 96.40% and 3.60%, respectively. Our proposed model is compared with existing studies related to hydrogen storage prediction, and its accuracy is found in agreement with these studies. This article considers Falkner–Skan flow over a dynamic and symmetric wedge under the influence of a magnetic field. The Hall effect on a magnetic field is negligible for small magnetic Reynolds numbers. The magnetic field B (x) is considered over x-axis, which is in line with the wedge i.e., parallel, while the flow is transverse over the y-axis. This study has numerous device-centric applications in engineering, such as power generators, cooling reactor and heat exchanger design, and MHD accelerators. Device mobility in dense Wi-Fi networks offers several challenges. Two well-known problems related to device mobility are handover prediction and access point selection. Due to the complex nature of the radio environment, analytical models may not characterize the wireless channel, which makes the solution of these problems very difficult. Recently, cognitive network architectures using sophisticated learning techniques are increasingly being applied to such problems. In this paper, we propose data-driven machine learning (ML) schemes to efficiently solve these problems in wireless LAN (WLAN) networks. The proposed schemes are evaluated and results are compared with traditional approaches to the aforementioned problems. The results report significant improvement in network performance by applying the proposed schemes. The proposed scheme for handover prediction outperforms traditional methods i.e. received signal strength method and traveling distance method by reducing the number of unnecessary handovers by 60% and 50% respectively. Similarly, in AP selection, the proposed scheme outperforms the strongest signal first and least loaded first algorithms by achieving higher throughput gains up to 9.2% and 8% respectively. In this research, we replace the traditional methods of research used in the past for judging the mental health of the society, with the latest artificial intelligence techniques to predict these components for attaining the best human capital. In the past, researchers have point out major flaws in predicting psychological issue and addressing a right solution to the human resource working in organizations of the world. In order to give solution to these issues, we used five different psychological issues pertinent to human beings for accurate prediction of human resource personality that effect the overall performance of the employee. In this regard, a sample of 500 data has been collected to train and test on computer through python for selecting the best model that will outperform all the other models. We used supervised AI techniques like support vector machine linear, support vector machine radial basis function, decision tree model, logistic regression, and neural networks. Results proved that psychological issue data from employee of different organizations are better means for predicting the overall performance based on personality traits than using either of them alone. COVID-19 detection and classification using chest X-ray images is a current hot research topic based on the important application known as medical image analysis. To halt the spread of COVID-19, it is critical to identify the infection as soon as possible. Due to time constraints and the expertise of radiologists, manually diagnosing this infection from chest X-ray images is a difficult and time-consuming process. Artificial intelligence techniques have had a significant impact on medical image analysis and have also introduced several techniques for COVID-19 diagnosis. Deep learning and explainable AI have shown significant popularity among AL techniques for COVID-19 detection and classification. In this work, we propose a deep learning and explainable AI technique for the diagnosis and classification of COVID-19 using chest X-ray images. Initially, a hybrid contrast enhancement technique is proposed and applied to the original images that are later utilized for the training of two modified deep learning models. The deep transfer learning concept is selected for the training of pretrained modified models that are later employed for feature extraction. Features of both deep models are fused using improved canonical correlation analysis that is further optimized using a hybrid algorithm named Whale-Elephant Herding. Through this algorithm, the best features are selected and classified using an extreme learning machine (ELM). Moreover, the modified deep models are utilized for Grad-CAM visualization. The experimental process was conducted on three publicly available datasets and achieved accuracies of 99.1, 98.2, and 96.7%, respectively. Human gait recognition has emerged as a branch of biometric identification in the last decade, focusing on individuals based on several characteristics such as movement, time, and clothing. It is also great for video surveillance applications. The main issue with these techniques is the loss of accuracy and time caused by traditional feature extraction and classification. With advances in deep learning for a variety of applications, particularly video surveillance and biometrics, we proposed a lightweight deep learning method for human gait recognition in this work. The proposed method includes sequential steps–pretrained deep models selection of features classification. Two lightweight pretrained models are initially considered and fine-tuned in terms of additional layers and freezing some middle layers. Following that, models were trained using deep transfer learning, and features were engineered on fully connected and average pooling layers. The fusion is performed using discriminant correlation analysis, which is then optimized using an improved moth-flame optimization algorithm. For final classification, the final optimum features are classified using an extreme learning machine (ELM). The experiments were carried out on two publicly available datasets, CASIA B and TUM GAID, and yielded an average accuracy of 91.20 and 98.60%, respectively. In this research, we developed a novel method of quantitative analysis to increase the detection potential for screening and classification of skin cancer (melanoma). We fused two distinct optical approaches, an atomic spectroscopic detection technique laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and a vibrational molecular spectroscopic technique known as Raman spectroscopy. Melanoma is a kind of skin cancer, also known as malignant melanoma, that developed in melanocytes cells, which produced melanin. Classification of melanoma cancerous tissues is a fundamental problem in biomedicine. For early melanoma cancer diagnosis and treatment, precise and accurate categorizing is critically essential. Laser-based spectroscopic approaches can be used as an operating instrument for simultaneous tissue ablation and ablated tissue elemental and molecular analysis. For this purpose, melanoma and normal paraffin-embedded tissues are used as a sample for LIBS and Raman measurement. We studied the data provided by laser-based spectroscopic methods using different machine learning classification techniques of extreme learning machine (ELM), partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), and K nearest neighbors (kNN). For visualization of melanoma and normal data, principal component analysis (PCA) is also used. Three different ways are used to process the data, LIBS measurement, Raman measurement, and combine data measurement (merged/fused data), and then compared the results. ELM classification model achieved the highest accuracy (100%) for combined data as well as for Raman and LIBS data, respectively. According to the experimental results, we can assume that Raman spectroscopy and LIBS combine can significantly improve the identification and classification accuracy of melanoma and normal specimens. Optical character recognition systems convert printed or handwritten scripts into digital text formats like ASCII or UNICODE. Urdu-like script languages like Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi are widely spoken languages of the world, especially in Asia. An enormous amount of printed and handwritten text of such languages exist, which needs to be converted into computer-understandable formats for knowledge extraction. In this study, extreme learning machine's (ELM's) most recently proposed variant called deep extreme learning machine (DELM)-based optical character recognition (OCR) system is proposed to enhance Urdu-like script language's character recognition rate. The proposed DELM-based character recognition model is optimizing the OCR process by reducing the overhead of Pre-processing, Segmentation and Feature Extraction Layer. The proposed system evaluations accomplished 98.75% training accuracy with 1.492 × 10−3 RMSE and 98.12% testing accuracy with 1.587 × 10−3 RMSE, with six DELM hidden layers. The results show that the proposed system has attained the foremost recognition rate as compared to any previously proposed Urdu-like script language OCR system. This technique is applicable for machine-printed text and fractionally useful for handwritten text as well. Aims To evaluate the performance of the WATCH-DM risk score, a clinical risk score for heart failure (HF), in patients with dysglycaemia and in combination with natriuretic peptides (NPs). Methods and results Adults with diabetes/pre-diabetes free of HF at baseline from four cohort studies (ARIC, CHS, FHS, and MESA) were included. The machine learning-[WATCH-DM(ml)] and integer-based [WATCH-DM(i)] scores were used to estimate the 5-year risk of incident HF. Discrimination was assessed by Harrell's concordance index (C-index) and calibration by the Greenwood-Nam-D'Agostino (GND) statistic. Improvement in model performance with the addition of NP levels was assessed by C-index and continuous net reclassification improvement (NRI). Of the 8938 participants included, 3554 (39.8%) had diabetes and 432 (4.8%) developed HF within 5 years. The WATCH-DM(ml) and WATCH-DM(i) scores demonstrated high discrimination for predicting HF risk among individuals with dysglycaemia (C-indices = 0.80 and 0.71, respectively), with no evidence of miscalibration (GND P =0.10). The C-index of elevated NP levels alone for predicting incident HF among individuals with dysglycaemia was significantly higher among participants with low/intermediate (<13) vs. high (=13)WATCH-DM(i) scores [0.71 (95% confidence interval 0.68-0.74) vs. 0.64 (95% confidence interval 0.61-0.66)]. When NP levels were combined with the WATCH-DM(i) score, HF risk discrimination improvement and NRI varied across the spectrum of risk with greater improvement observed at low/intermediate risk [WATCH-DM(i)<13] vs. high risk [WATCH-DM(i) =13] (C-index = 0.73 vs. 0.71; NRI = 0.45 vs. 0.17). The excessive number of COVID-19 cases reported worldwide so far, supplemented by a high rate of false alarms in its diagnosis using the conventional polymerase chain reaction method, has led to an increased number of high-resolution computed tomography (CT) examinations conducted. The manual inspection of the latter, besides being slow, is susceptible to human errors, especially because of an uncanny resemblance between the CT scans of COVID-19 and those of pneumonia, and therefore demands a proportional increase in the number of expert radiologists. Artificial intelligence-based computer-aided diagnosis of COVID-19 using the CT scans has been recently coined, which has proven its effectiveness in terms of accuracy and computation time. In this work, a similar framework for classification of COVID-19 using CT scans is proposed. The proposed method includes four core steps: (i) preparing a database of three different classes such as COVID-19, pneumonia, and normal; (ii) modifying three pretrained deep learning models such as VGG16, ResNet50, and ResNet101 for the classification of COVID-19-positive scans; (iii) proposing an activation function and improving the firefly algorithm for feature selection; and (iv) fusing optimal selected features using descending order serial approach and classifying using multiclass supervised learning algorithms. In the USA, each year, almost 5.4 million people are diagnosed with skin cancer. Melanoma is one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer, and its survival rate is 5%. The development of skin cancer has risen over the last couple of years. Early identification of skin cancer can help reduce the human mortality rate. Dermoscopy is a technology used for the acquisition of skin images. However, the manual inspection process consumes more time and required much cost. The recent development in the area of deep learning showed significant performance for classification tasks. In this research work, a new automated framework is proposed for multiclass skin lesion classification. The proposed framework consists of a series of steps. In the first step, augmentation is performed. For the augmentation process, three operations are performed: rotate 90, right-left flip, and up and down flip. In the second step, deep models are fine-tuned. Two models are opted, such as ResNet-50 and ResNet-101, and updated their layers. In the third step, transfer learning is applied to train both fine-tuned deep models on augmented datasets. In the succeeding stage, features are extracted and performed fusion using a modified serial-based approach. Finally, the fused vector is further enhanced by selecting the best features using the skewness-controlled SVR approach. The final selected features are classified using several machine learning algorithms and selected based on the accuracy value. In the experimental process, the augmented HAM10000 dataset is used and achieved an accuracy of 91.7%. Moreover, the performance of the augmented dataset is better as compared to the original imbalanced dataset. Marston's load theory is commonly used for understanding the soil–conduit interaction. However, there are no practical methods available which can estimate the Marston's soil prism (MSP) width ratio. Moreover, the advent of soft computing methods has made many traditional approaches antiquated. The main purpose of this work is to compare and evaluate the predictive abilities of several machine learning-based models in predicting the MSP width ratio for the reinforced concrete (RC) and corrugated steel (CS) conduits. By utilizing the finite element modelling, a large-scale dataset was generated for the width of the soil prism for both types of conduit material, when buried under sandy soils of varying stiffness. After preparing the required dataset, feature validity technique based on correlation-based feature selection was employed to find the most influential parameters affecting the MSP width. Thereafter, five regression-based data driven models namely artificial neural networks (ANN), least-square support vector regression, extreme learning machine, Gaussian process regression, and multiple linear regression were developed to forecast the MSP width ratio. The results showed that the ANN outperforms the other predictive models for both the conduit types. In addition, due to the excellent overall performance of the ANN, it was translated into functional relationship for predicting the MSP width ratio for RC and CS conduits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The availability of a variety of e-cigarettes flavors is one of the frequently cited reasons for their adoption. An active stream of discussion about flavoring can be observed online. Analyzing these real-time conversations offers nuanced insights into key factors related to the adoption of flavors, subsequently supporting public health interventions.Methods: Google's BERT, a state-of-the-art deep learning method was employed to model the first sentiment corpus on JUUL flavors. BERT, which is pre-trained with the complete English Wikipedia was fine-tuned by integrating a classification model, with human labeled Tweets, as training data. A collection of 30 075 Tweets about JUUL flavors was classified into positive and negative sentiments. Finally, using topic models, we identify and grouped thematic areas into positive and negative Tweets.Results: With an average of 89% cross-validation precision for classifying Tweets, the fine-tuned BERT model classified 24 114 Tweets as positive and 5961 Tweets as negative. Through the topic modeling approach 10 thematic topics were identified from the predicted positive and negative sentiments expressed in the Tweets.Conclusions: JUUL flavors, notably mango, mint, and cucumber, provoke overwhelmingly positive sentiments indicating a strong likeness due to favorable taste and odor. Negative discourse about JUUL flavors revolve around addictiveness, high nicotine content, and youth targeted marketing.Implications: Limiting the content related to flavors and positive perceptions on social media is necessary to minimize exposure to youth. Autonomous driving research is an emerging area in the machine learning domain. Most existing methods perform single-task learning, while multi-task learning (MTL) is more efficient due to the leverage of shared information between different tasks. However, MTL is challenging because different tasks may have different significance and varying ranges. In this work, we propose an end-to-end deep learning architecture for statistically correlated MTL using a single input image. Statistical correlation of the tasks is handled by including shared layers in the architecture. Later network separates into different branches to handle the difference in the behavior of each task. Training a multi-task model with varying ranges may converge the objective function only with larger values. To this end, we explore different normalization schemes and empirically observe that the inverse validation-loss weighted scheme has best performed. In addition to estimating steering angle, braking, and acceleration, we also estimate the number of lanes on the left and the right side of the vehicle. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to propose an end-to-end deep learning architecture to estimate this type of lane information. The proposed approach is evaluated on four publicly available datasets including Comma.ai, Udacity, Berkeley Deep Drive, and Sully Chen. We also propose a synthetic dataset GTA-V for autonomous driving research. Our experiments demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach compared to the current state-of-the-art methods. The growing concern of pediatric mortality demands heightened preparedness in clinical settings, especially within intensive care units (ICUs). As respiratory-related admissions account for a substantial portion of pediatric illnesses, there is a pressing need to predict ICU mortality in these cases. This study based on data from 1188 patients, addresses this imperative using machine learning techniques and investigating different class balancing methods for pediatric ICU mortality prediction. This study employs the publicly accessible "Paediatric Intensive Care database" to train, validate, and test a machine learning model for predicting pediatric patient mortality. Features were ranked using three machine learning feature selection techniques, namely Random Forest, Extra Trees, and XGBoost, resulting in the selection of 16 critical features from a total of 105 features. Ten machine learning models and ensemble techniques are used to make accurate mortality predictions. To tackle the inherent class imbalance in the dataset, we applied a unique data partitioning technique to enhance the model's alignment with the data distribution. The CatBoost machine learning model achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of 72.22%, while the stacking ensemble model yielded an AUC of 60.59% for mortality prediction. The proposed subdivision technique, on the other hand, provides a significant improvement in performance metrics, with an AUC of 85.2% and an accuracy of 89.32%. Realizing secure and private communications on the Internet of Things (IoT) is challenging, primarily due to IoT's projected vast scale and extensive deployment. Recent efforts have explored the use of blockchain in decentralized protection and privacy supported. Such solutions, however, are highly demanding in terms of computation and time requirements, barring these solutions from the majority of IoT applications. Specifically, in this paper, we introduce a resource-efficient, blockchain-based solution for secure and private IoT. The solution is made possible through novel exploitation of computational resources in a typical IoT environment (e.g., smart homes), along with the use of an instance of Deep Extreme Learning Machine (DELM). In this proposed approach, the Smart Home Architecture based in Blockchain is protected by carefully evaluating its reliability in regard to the essential security aims of privacy, integrity, and accessibility. Scarcity in fossil fuel reserves and their environmental impacts has forced the world towards the production of clean and environment-friendly fuels called biofuels. This review focuses on the importance of different machine learning models and optimization techniques to simulate and optimize process conditions, yield and parameters in the fermentation of cellulosic biomass from fifty recent studies. The superiority of ML models, especially ANN dominance in 70 % of studies with highest coefficient of regression over conventional techniques in the production of bioethanol and biohydrogen is comprehensively reviewed. Research gaps and studies directed toward the usage of most optimum ML models in future are directed after the sensitivity analysis with 5 % variation that suggest the stability of ML models. Crowd density estimation is a challenging research problem in computer vision and has many applications in commercial and defense sectors. Various crowd density estimation methods have been proposed by researchers in the past, but there is an utmost need for accurate, robust and efficient crowd density estimation techniques for its practical implementation. In this paper, we propose a fine-tuned and computationally economical, ensemble regression-based machine learning model for crowd density estimation. The WorldExpo'10 dataset has been used for experimental analysis and model performance evaluation. We extract variety of features in texture-based features such as gray-level co-occurrence matrix, local binary pattern and histogram of oriented gradients, structure-based features such as perimeter pixel and the orientation of pixels, and segment-based handcrafted features from each patch of the image and use an optimum combination of these features as input to the regression model. To achieve optimized memory utilization and faster speed, principal component analysis is employed to reduce the dimensions of the lengthy feature vector. Extensive experiments on different fronts ranging from the model hyperparameter optimization, features optimization and features selection were conducted, and at each step, we selected the most favorable results as input to the optimized model. The performance of the model is evaluated based on two popular metrics, i.e., mean absolute error and mean squared error. When nanoparticles encounter a biological fluid, proteins, lipids, and other biomolecules adsorb on the nanoscale surface consequently leading to the evolution of a protein shell or "corona." The corona formed is dynamic in nature and depends on the "synthetic identity" of the NPs, ultimately affecting their biological response. In this paper, an integrated microfluidic platform coupled with an electrical resistance measurement setup is developed to monitor and investigate the real‐time formation of a biomolecular corona of carbon nanoparticles. "Soft" and "hard" corona formation stages are effectively discriminated based on their nanoscale surface chemistries when combined with a time‐frequency tool known as wavelet transform and machine‐learning techniques. Additionally, the corona and its composition are studied using different techniques such as dynamic light scattering, nanoparticle tracking analysis, zeta potential, excitation–emission profiles, 1D sodium dodecyl polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and subsequently, liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry analysis. The dynamic setup can eventually be used as a valuable tool for screening of any nanoparticles formulations with distinct surface chemistries for the purpose of reduced protein adsorption/weaker protein corona formation and consequently enhance the success of targeted drug delivery. Thermal diffusivity, a major determinant of heat transfer, has a substantial effect on rocks thermal properties. This investigation employed artificial intelligence to predict the thermal diffusivity of volcanic rocks. Models of machine learning with Genetic Algorithm are established to have a hollistic insight of thermal diffusivity analysis and prediction using elemental composition of volcanic rocks, and properties including temparature, density, specific gravity and apparent porosity. The support vector machine, ensembled learning tree, Gaussian process regression, and decision tree machine learning models are combined with a genetic algorithm to predict the thermal diffusivity of volcanic rocks. Using the genetic algorithm, feature selection and hyper-parameter optimization of machine learning methods improved the accuracy of model predictions. The SVM-GA predicts more accurately than other machine learning models, with a coefficient of determination of 0.99 and a root mean square error of 0.0046. In addition, the partial dependence plots analysis illustrates the potential effect of each parameter on thermal diffusivity. Finally, a graphical user interface based on the SVM-GA model was developed to predict thermal diffusivity without extensive machine learning knowledge. The difference between a graphical user interface and experimental yield was less than 1%.
