In this paper, the GC cup truing technology on resin bond diamond grinding wheel is studied, and the parameters of truing the diamond grinding wheel process are optimized. Also the contour accuracy and microscopic topography of the diamond grinding wheel are analyzed quantitatively. Besides, the method of evaluating the dressing effect of diamond grinding with the roughness of grinding wheel is proposed.

Fabrics provide an attractive alternative for cell immobilization carrier. In this study, the relationship of weave structure of fabrics and the effects of cell immobilization was investigated. Several kinds of fabrics with different weave structure were designed and produced acting as cell immobilization carrier. Adsorptive capacity of the textile carriers with different weave structure was measured and the biodegradation rate of TA by cells absorbed on textile carriers was also investigated. It is showed that adsorptive capacity and stability was significantly affected by weave structure of fabric carriers. The result also indicated that the ability to TA degradation was also improved by cell immobilization.

Liquidus temperature is one of important parameters for aluminum electrolysis. In this study, a new method is introduced; the liquidus temperature is measured with one Agilent 34401A meter connected to a computer. The whole process is controlled by computer software. Firstly, liquidus temperature of NaF and NaCl are measured for comparison. The result is proved to be convenient and accurate. The range of error is {plus minus}1~1.5{degree sign}C at 801{degree sign}C to 995{degree sign}C. Furthermore low temperature aluminum electrolyte composition is related. The liquidus temperature measurement of the system is NaF·AlF3(R=2.25)-Al2O3(3%)-CaF2(4%)-LiF(0~6%)-NaCl(0~6%). The result showed that the liquidus temperature is reduced greatly by adding NaCl and LiF. The mathematical model obtained is T({degree sign}C)=947.588-5.907×LiF(wt/%)-6.223×NaCl(wt/%). The authors expected these data are useful for industry production of aluminum electrolysis, since it can provide a scientific basis for choosing suitable low temperature aluminum electrolyte composition.

We model the recent experimental results and demonstrate that the internal shrinkage of nanocavities in silicon is intrinsically associated with preferential amorphization as induced by self-ion irradiation. The results reveal novel thermodynamic nonequilibrium properties of such an open-volume nanostructure in condensed matter and also of covalently bound amorphous materials both at nanosize scale and during ultrafast interaction with energetic beam.

With a series of supportive experimental phenomena as induced by ion beam bombardment, energetic beaminduced athermal activation process in Si is demonstrated. This is correlated with phenomena induced by ultrafast energy exchange in condensed matter in general. A critical modelling is presented on the above process and a universal concept: the ultrafast energy exchange-induced soft mode of phonons and the lattice instability in condensed matter are proposed.

The superalloys Cu-Ni-Al, Cu-Ni-Fe, and Cu-Ni-Cr were studied as anodes for aluminum electrolysis. The alloys were tested for corrosion in acidic electrolyte molten salt and for oxidation in both air and oxygen. The results showed that the Cu-Ni-Al anodes possess excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and the oxidation rates of Cu-Ni-Fe and Cu-Ni-Al anodes were slower than those of pure copper or nickel. During electrolysis, the cell voltage of the Cu-Ni-Al anode was affected most by the concentration of alumina in cryolite molten salt. The Cu-Ni-Fe anode exhibited corrosion resistance in electrolyte molten salt. Comparatively, the Cu-Ni-Cr anode showed poor resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The testing found that further study is warranted on the use of Cu-Ni-Al and Cu-Ni-Fe as inert alloy anodes.

Photonic crystal fiber has great potential applications such as dispersion compensation due to its adjustable and flexible dispersion characteristics. In this paper, we design a dispersion compensation photonic crystal fiber, simulate the dispersion characteristics by the finite-difference frequency-domain method, and analyse the effects of the structure parameters air hole spacing Λ and air-filling fraction d/Λ on the dispersion of photonic crystal fiber theoretically. And we also fabricate three photonic crystal fibers with different structural parameters. Through the comparison and analysis of their dispersion curves, we have the following conclusions: the dispersion coefficient increases with air hole spacing Λ and air-filling fraction d/Λ increasing when the air hole spacing of photonic crystal fiber is about 1 μm, but the dispersion is more sensitive to the change of air hole spacing Λ than to air-filling fraction d/Λ, and the effect of air hole spacing on the dispersion coefficient decreases with the increase of air hole spacing. One of the photonic crystal fibers realizes the designed structure: its dispersion coefficient is 241.5 ps·nm-1·km-1, relative dispersion slope is 0.0018 at 1550 nm, it has good ability in dispersion compensation.

We report supercontinuum generation extending to the blue spectral region using pulses of 1.8 ps duration at 1040 nm in GeO2-doped core photonic crystal fibers. A spectrum in fundamental mode spanning from 415 nm to beyond 1750 nm is generated in a uniform photonic crystal fiber (PCF). A zero dispersion wavelength decreasing PCF is fabricated to optimize the parameters for deeper blue components generated by cross-phase modulation and group-velocity matching. Although the PCF is pumped at a low input power of 1.3 W in anomalous dispersion and relatively far from the zero dispersion wavelength, a flat continuum covering 406.1?671.8 nm is generated, which is of primary importance in a number of bio-photonic applications such as fluorescence imaging microscopy.

We demonstrate the blue light generated in high-Δ photonic crystal fibers (PCFs). A femtosecond Yb-doped fiber laser, operating at 1039nm, is used to pump a GeO2-doped PCF in the largely anomalous group velocity dispersion (GVD) region. The emitted radiation covers 418.6–544.6nm with 5dB flatness. The calculated result indicates that the cross phase module (XPM) effect induced by higher-mode soliton makes a contribution to the blue component generation.

In the process of fabricating two-dimensional Ag nano-arrays via nanosphere lithography, different deposition methods present different lattice point shapes of Ag nanostructure. Nano-triangles are produced by thermal evaporation whereas nano-rings are obtained by electron beam evaporation although they are both of hexagonal lattice. It is indicated that the sizes, the surface nanocurvature, the thermal and the kinetic energies of the particles deposited are key factors controlling the formation of the shape of Ag lattice point.

The characteristics of the aging internal friction and modulus associated with the non-equilibrium phase transformation were investigated in an as-quenched eutectoid Al-Zn alloy. It was observed that the loss of stability in the lattice during spinodal pretransition did not induce any localised soft modulus effect and there were two aging internal friction peaks during the phase transition. These results are discussed.

Through biomechanical, radiographical, biochemical, histological, electron microscopic, tetracycline fluorescence observations of experimental fracture healing in rabbits, the authors came to a preliminary conclusion that the combination of oral administration of “Natural Copper” (a traditional Chinese drug made from yellow iron ore, namely pyrite, which is to be processed into black powder by calcining and by quenching with vinegar for many times) and application of a static magnetic field could promote fracture healing. An attempt was also made to elucidate its mechanism. The practical value of this study lies on the possibility of the combined use of static magnetism by applying magnetic rubber pads and small splints, so that the two favourable factors (magnetism and fixation) for fracture healing may be brought into play simultaneously. With the intake of “Natural Copper” in addition a new method for promoting fracture healing is completed.
