This essay undertakes a critical analysis of the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the teaching and learning of mathematics. From the perspective of artificial intelligence, it examines the dynamics of interaction between humans and intelligent systems, exploring their influence on educational processes and the acquisition of mathematical knowledge. It addresses crucial aspects such as mutual responsibility for the informatics/didactic interface, the evolution of technological tools in mathematics education, and the fundamental theories that guide our understanding of the use of digital artefacts in this context. It highlights concrete examples of recent projects to illustrate the practical applications and constraints affecting mathematical work. Aiming to provide a holistic view, it explores how technology not only enhances mathematics education, but also generates a new kind of mathematical work in terms of control, necessity and obstacles. It examines the implications for the development of the mathematical working space, both as a system of activity and as a method of research in didactics of mathematics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
