Let $X$ be a Fano manifold of dimension at least $2$ and $D$ be a smooth divisor in a multiple of the anticanonical class, $\frac1\alpha(-K_X)$ with $\alpha>1$. It is well-known that K\"ahler-Einstein metrics on $X$ with conic singularities along $D$ may exist only if the angle $2\pi\beta$ is bigger than some positive limit value $2\pi\beta_*$. Under the hypothesis that the automorphisms of $D$ are induced by the automorphisms of the pair $(X,D)$, we prove that for $\beta>\beta_*$ close enough to $\beta_*$, such K\"ahler-Einstein metrics do exist. We identify the limits at various scales when $\beta\rightarrow\beta_*$ and, in particular, we exhibit the appearance of the Tian-Yau metric of $X\setminus D$., Comment: 56 pages

Let $X$ be a complex projective manifold and let $D\subset X$ be a smooth divisor. In this article, we are interested in studying limits when $\beta\to 0$ of K\"ahler-Einstein metrics $\omega_\beta$ with a cone singularity of angle $2\pi \beta$ along $D$. In our first result, we assume that $X\setminus D$ is a locally symmetric space and we show that $\omega_\beta$ converges to the locally symmetric metric and further give asymptotics of $\omega_\beta$ when $X\setminus D$ is a ball quotient. Our second result deals with the case when $X$ is Fano and $D$ is anticanonical. We prove a folklore conjecture asserting that a rescaled limit of $\omega_\beta$ is the complete, Ricci flat Tian-Yau metric on $X\setminus D$. We obtain Ricci flat K\"ahler metrics on complex symmetric spaces of rank two by using an explicit asymptotic model whose geometry at infinity is interpreted in the wonderful compactification of the symmetric space. We recover the metrics of Biquard-Gauduchon in the Hermitian case and obtain in addition several new metrics., Comment: 39 pages

For certain real hypersurfaces in the projective space, of signature (1,n), we study the filling problem for small deformations of the CR structure (the other signatures being well understood). We characterize the deformations which are fillable, and prove that they have infinite codimension in the set of all CR structures. This result generalizes the cases of the 3-sphere and of signature (1,1) to higher dimension.

A conformal metric on a 4-ball induces on the boundary 3-sphere a conformal metric and a trace-free second fundamental form. Conversely, such a data on the 3-sphere is the boundary of a unique selfdual conformal metric, defined in a neighborhood of the sphere. In this paper we characterize the conformal metrics and trace-free second fundamental forms on the 3-sphere (close to the standard round metric) which are boundaries of selfdual conformal metrics on the whole 4-ball. When the data on the boundary is reduced to a conformal metric (the trace-free part of the second fundamental form vanishes), one may hope to find in the conformal class of the filling metric an Einstein metric, with a pole of order 2 on the boundary. We determine which conformal metrics on the 3-sphere are boundaries of such selfdual Einstein metrics on the 4-ball. In particular, this implies the Positive Frequency Conjecture of LeBrun. The proof uses twistor theory, which enables to translate the problem in terms of complex analysis; this leads us to prove a criterion for certain integrable CR structures of signature (1,1) to be fillable by a complex domain. Finally, we solve an analogous, higher dimensional problem: selfdual Einstein metrics are replaced by quaternionic-Kahler metrics, and conformal structures on the boundary by quaternionic contact structures (previously introduced by the author); in contrast with the 4-dimensional case, we prove that any small deformation of the standard quaternionic contact structure on the (4m-1)-sphere is the boundary of a quaternionic-Kahler metric on the 4m-ball., Comment: 76 pages, 4 figures; new section 11 on higher dimensional case
